The Hotel St. Marie is a classic style hotel in the historic and charming French Quarter of New Orleans. The building derives its style from the French Quarter's influence and has a mix of tropical elegance. Pros (+) Most of the staff were friendly and responsible. Food in restaurant was decent--coffee better than Cafe du Monde! The room was not in tip-top shape ..It could use some freshening.

Pros (+) The location was awesome, we were able to walk to anywhere in the French Quarter with no problem. The security staff were very nice.
Cons (-) I did not like was how the bathroom in our room did not have a proper door. The door was a closet-stlye door with slats. Also, during our stay there was a heavy rainstorm that crippled the hotel staff with flooding in the lobby area and restaurant. We wanted breakfast, but the staff seemed quite flustered and did not want to seat us in the restaurant, even though the rain had ended.

Pros (+) The lobby was very inviting. I loved the courtyard. The location was great.
Cons (-) We arrived at 1030 and had to wait until 1600 for a room to be open. When we were able to go to the room, we noticed it was not very clean. There was trash from the previous occupants laying around the bed. We stayed two nights and on the second day after housekeeping made our beds, they did not leave any new soap or towels and left their cleaning supplies in our bathroom. The first night was quie...

Pros (+) We came to town to celebrate for my birthday and upon check in we were told we were receiving a free upgrade to a mini suite. The room was nice, the staff was helpful. I'd stay here again.
Cons (-) It seemed a theme throughout New Orleans that the entire city is getting a face lift, our hotel included. Didn't ruin my stay or really bug me all that much, but there were people painting right outside our window early in the morning
