Pros. Two of the four front desk staff with whom I interacted were incredibly helpful and friendly; the other two not so much (see negatives). Great beds, nice rooms. Ideal location.
Cons. I had lost my phone in a local taxi and the driver tried to return it to me a few hours later when it was discovered. The front desk staff on the night shift refused to call my room to let me know she had it. Subsequently, the entire next day I was making calls to try to locate it. I even asked Front desk if anything had been reported and turned in and they said NO. Several hours later, she called me and delivered to me in person, noting that she attempted the night before to get the phone to me with no luck and no cooperation. Unbelievable! Thanks to incompetent night time desk staff, I spent the entire day wondering where my phone was. They could have rang my room and told me she had the phone. I was very annoyed by this. Big negative in my view.
Pros. The room was bigger than we anticipated. It was really big. The location is great; very close to grand central station. It was quiet and better than staying in times square. There were several restaurants near by and 5th avenue was just a few blocks away. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. We were pleased.
Cons. The fixtures in the bathroom were coming off the walls. Cleanliness was a tiny bit off. Looked like either blood or ketchup on the curtains (I am going with ketchup). Need to stay above 7th floor or you will hear the music from the lounge. Could have used a microwave/refrigerator.
Pros. The bed was really comfortable and the room very quiet for New York. I think the shower was recently renovated and was terrific. The rain-style shower head was mounted high so that you didn't have to duck under it and there was also shower wand if you needed it. I also loved that the HD TV had HD cable so that we weren't constantly watching images that were squeezed or stretched. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
Cons. The only negative was that they're remodeling the bar and restaurant so there was no food or drink available other than room service and the continental breakfast. When that's finished it should be a big improvement.
Pros. Room size was bigger than avg. in NYC Mattress was comfortable Zero noise on 14F TV was great quality
Cons. Pillows were uncomfortable to rest on. Nothing else we found uncomfortable or bad to review. that's it. SP
Pros. Staff was amazing, room was fabulous. I usually stay at the Dream-Downtown and the rooms here are bigger (as is the bathroom). Overall a great value for my money.
Cons. No actual lobby or bar to hang out in..
