Pros: We stayed at the Hemples lodge for two nights and it was the perfect get away. From the moment we booked Marc was fantastic in ensuring we had everything we needed. Upon arriving we were met and shown around and immediately felt like we had picked a great place to stay. The accommodation is everything you need plus more and is in such a peaceful location that you can just relax. Our breakfast was fantastic to and the fresh poached eggs were incredible. I hands down would recommend this property to everyone and would stay here again if we were coming to Newcastle.

Also, was informed that heating was adjustable from the thermostat, but couldn't get it to work. Freezing cold overnight, caught a cold the next day. Drove past the property twice, inspite of using the satnav. Would be helpful to have a sign outside, as it was confusing to locate.

We were the only guests yet in the morning we could not open our curtains in the front bedroom as there were workmen outside quite early getting vans packed for the business run from the house. We thought she might have alerted us or perhaps put us in a room overlooking the back garden. Road noise was also noticeable despite the house being set back from the road. Breakfast was adequate and served in a nice room.

Cons: TV controls: the volume switch not working so I was unable to watch the television. The double socket for the bedside lamp was loose from the wall. Woken in the night by other guests returning and again around 4am by voices below the window. But that's West Jesmond. Thought it was pricey and would have liked the option of not paying for breakfast.

Pros: I would highly recommend the Brighton. 10/10 all round. I booked online with no hassle. An email was sent straight away confirming the booking and a welcome note. Free parking as well, which is a bonus in Newcastle. I will go again soon. Great price. Not too far to walk into the city centre or A Taxi is only a fiver.

Cons: Like a maze inside. Many stairs, no lift... Luckily I was fit. Small breakfast but ok. Only street parking....Need to be lucky to find a space. No tea making in room but the are two tea making lounges. Terrible sausage in breakfast.

Pros: The night we stayed it was quiet, so we slept well. I requested that a dead light bulb be changed in our room and it was. The lady who cooked the breakfast was friendly - the only one out of three staff we met who was friendly.
Cons: The room was pokey & claustrophobic. It was up many dark underlit staircases. There were many signs warning that breakages must be paid for, which made us feel like suspects & as though we were not welcome. When we tried to check in at 5pm, it took ages for the door to be answered. The room was too warm and the radiator had no heat control. The breakfast selection was poor. The whole hotel/guesthouse has an air of stinginess. On reflection, I thought it did not offer good value for money. I was relieved to be able to leave in the morning.

Cons: Not much to worry about, however if you really want to go into detail, then no double glazing, so the room was not very well insulated, nor soundproofed, as traffic from the main Osbourne Road, was pretty loud.

Cons: We reserved a family room (double and a single). First room they tried to give us was 2 twins in a room without a door knob. Stains on the bed covers and an overall stink. After complaining to the owner they gave us a double with a twin all scrunched into a small room on the 4th floor (no lift).Mind you they said that all the rooms were booked and everyone checked in which was obviously a bald faced lie.
