Friendly staff and good facilities Noise, woken up by both guests and noise outside the hotel.
The staff were excellent and bent over backwards to help. Parking facilities
Beautifully restored staircase, on site parking, central location For a "superior" room, the furnishing was a bit utility, and the battlship grey colour scheme in the refurbished corridors was depressing.
excellent location, lovely staff and good facilities.
They provide free internet which is great. And the location is good for travellors. The floor could be a bit of old and the noise from upstairs is annoying.
Busy city centre hotel, excellent location, very helpful staff Room was so hot has to keep window open at night even though it was snowing,
Ambience Room too small. Too hot. Window did not open. No 350
central to pubs
Staff very good No sky tv. Jacuzzi in bath didn't work.
Very helpful and friendly hotel staff. Very comfortable bed and good room facilities. Traffic noise disrupted my night's sleep somewhat.
Excellent breakfast, good location expensive parking!
politeness of staff, cleanliness, good breakfast, excellent value,
Modern airy rooms
close to city center
Good location Pay for internet connectivty
nice rooms friendly staff and very central
It was very central to city centre and train station, people in Newcastle where all very helpful Found restaurant cold in mornings when having breakfast
Location and friendliness of staff Some noise from other rooms during early hours
Comfortable beds and nice clean rooms with modern furniture A couple of large groups on stag weekends etc made alot of noise at night. There was a very noisy party in one of the rooms on our floor.
We enjoyed the extra luxury of staying in a prime location in the city, we got upgraded to the bridal suite and no extra cost whic was fantastic and everyone was polite and very helpful, we would certainly come again and would be happy to recommend the hotel. we also loved the bathroom, the shower was great. we did not have breakfast as it was rather expensive and all the reviews said it wasnt worth it,
its location and the high standard of the hotel. I would have liked to check in an hour earlier.
Friendly staff and easy parking
Comfortable, quiet and calm.A lot of oldfashioned charm with helpful staff. Good service in restaurant.
Ease of access directly to city, facilities, bars, staff, the fact that it is an independent hotel & not a chain
Very helpful doorman who provided free map of Newcastle and information leaflet plus friendly advice Confusing 'levels' rather than floor numbers. Unusual for breakfast not to be included in room price.
Location was just what I wanted Meeting friends and enjoying a very nice meal in Chinatown The Dragon House
It's proximity to the city, you couldn't get closer to the shopping and sights if you tried! The hotel was very basic, it had no atmosphere and looked shabby and in nead of a refit. A distinct lack of luxury swing as it has a 4 star rating!
Excellent facilities and service. Fantastic breakfast! None
Good stay overall. We (there were 3 of us on business) arrived at around 1 Pm and were told check in was 2 Pm so waited, only then to be told it was 3 PM. I still got my room at 2 Pm but my collagues had to use the spa to freshen up as we had a business meeting at 2.30 PM. I asked for a wake up call at 7.30 am but did not get a call. That said, still a good hotel overall and staff were friendly.
I really liked the comfort of the rooms. To be honest I had no problem with the hotel as such.
Bar and Bistro staff very good service indeed. Nothing was too much trouble Dvd player in room wasn't working. Reported it 4 times and not got fixed. Had to checkout with dvd still stuck in machine so lost it. Hotel reception not very apologetic but gave me car park for free.
Its excellent location, good breakfast, helpful staff The decor was purple, grey and black - altogether too gloomy
Staff were excellent Hotel rooms were too hot
Parking of Car for the last night was paid for by Hotel. Car Parking Policy was not explained on Check-In even though the car Registration Number was completed on the Check-In Registration Form at the time. Breakfast staff (and most probably the supervisor) require to be trained: It took 3/4 of an hour and 3 reminders to get my breakfast of Kippers processed. The Staff commonly pass by tables with out clearing used / empty plates & bowles until the cooked breakfast plate is to be served or the tables are vacated. It is expected that the cooked breakfast plate be cleared once the contents has been eaten and pending the completion of drinking the balance of the tea / coffee pot!
large room, comfortable bed. parking at car park over the road, despite it being inexpensive. Public areas generally a liitle dark.
The ambiance of the hotel, very peaceful and relaxing. A double booking had been put through on your website which caused some confusion at check in as they had allocated 2 rooms for us.
Being close to Quayside. The room was well stocked with all he amenties needed for a night's stay and although we did not eat in the hotel, room service and the menu looked appropriate. We were placed in a room designed for the disabled so the bathroom layout and design was not what we expected. The room also had an ajoining door. The people who were in the next room were still talking at 4am - not 'rowdy' but loud enough to disturb our sleep.
The location of the hotel was excellent and the room was adequate and the reception staff were helpful. This was our third stay at the hotel and it appears to be letting its standards slip, there were not enough bar and waiting staff and the tables were all full of uncollected plates etc,we had to wait an age to get served if the barmaid was off her mobile long enough, the breakfast was similar not enough staff, expensive, and generally cold and pour quality/
The design of the room the full length window overlooking the river. The ease of getting to The Sage and the shopping centre. Staff were extremely attentive. We would definitely stay again. Nothing there isn't anything I can find fault with
The location. Room looked shabby and very dated with thread bear seats, an uncomfortable bed, grubby bathroom with a tap that leaked water all over the sink area.We were woken repeatedly through the night by people shouting and banging on doors. This is not what you expect from such an expensive hotel, extremely poor value for money!
Location for city centre the whole building was cold, the air con was noisey, the bathroom was shabby and cold. the breakfast was poor and the unhrlpful
General ambienece and location
very comfortable bed communal areas very smart and pleasant bathroom past its best and shower facilities poor- not what I would expect from hotel of this level view from room very poor
Posistion was fantastic, our rooms had floor to ceiling windows, top floor with a fab view of the river
Close proximity to the city centre and the river views from the room Wireless internet is only in Hotel Lobby and costs £20 per day(this is not rocket science and Hotel are out of order here). Bed was a bit hard and AC was a bit hot (control problem) and overall decor/fittings etc are dated and worn and reflect the time the hotel has been trading in this location. Car parking is an excellent bonus and lots of private space available for guests. Concierge is great and knows his stuff. (In general Hotel needs refurbishing but overall a clean and tidy place to stay).
Staff went out of their way to help me with all the problems I encountered with the hotel. Too many to detail here! See the reviews on TripAdvisor too.
handy to town centre
The room was very clean and comfortable and newly furnished, staff very helpful. The panini that i ordered through room service was over cooked and hard. Also i paid cash in the morning and yet the hotel held back funds in my bank account which have not been released to date!
The interior design of the rooms and the reception area and cellar bar was outstandingly elegant, uncluttered and enjoyable. We welcomed the opportunity to go to the adjoining restaurant for dinner. The water in the shower didn't drain away and Channel 5 was unobtainable - we wanted to watch the Test Match. An iron with an ironing board would be a welcome addition.
I was impressed with the Grey Street Hotel and will definitely be staying there again.
Decor is chic and position is terrific Breakfast service was hit and miss. No room for an armchair in the bedroom
Contemporary modern rooms, good location in Newcastle city centre and close to bars and restaurants. Breakfast delivered to room was very poor. Room was located next to air conditioning shaft which was very noisy.
The friendliness of the staff and the extremely well-appointed room, spotlessly clean. The hotel was ideal for our theatre/shopping stopover.
Within walking distance to the airport terminal. Room was large and clean. staff were very helpful to change our room as the first one did not have operating air conditioning at the time, although they tried to fix it. Restaurant was reasonably priced
good location, clean no free wifi in rooms, restaurant food was not that great
proximity to airport Getting to the hotel, a friend came to pick us up and seeing the gate and 4pound parking fee she panicked and parked on the road outside and got a 60 pound fine from police who arrived in a minute! a note at the entrance could explain ticket validation!!!
Interior design was very nice and surprisingly upscale. Rooms had very nice amenities, such as a rain shower, heated towel racks, fridge, and microwave. Free and fast WIFI, too. Hotel is in need of some upkeep, especially for a place that is aiming to present itself as upscale -- e.g. small but visible water stain in the ceiling of our room and some other minor upkeep issues. Nothing unclean or dangerous though.
Very comfortable room TV Channels - would like to have seen Freeview/Sky News
very comfortable room, nice and warm, nothing too much trouble
Rooms very comfortble and clean and a super breakfast in the morning Bit a mix up with my booking as there was another person with the same name as myself this caused a bit of a delay in getting into my room also had to use the leasure services area to get showered as i was going to the race meeting.
purpose of visit was for christmas shopping trip, leisure facilities were a benefit to us
The room was spacious and very comfortable. Although we didn't have a chance to use the leisure facilities they looked very good. We were kept awake until 5 am by the people in the next room.
Nice friendly staff, concierge very helpful and tasty breakfasts. Bedroom spacious and comfy bed. Duvet too heavy, but was changed on request by obliging staff. The fridge provided space only for minibar, which was scarily expensive. Room service quickly provided jug of iced water no bother.
Staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and so were the rooms. There were excellent facilites available such as swimming pool, hair salon and squash courts. The room service food was not good at all the curry was watery and the salad had stones in it. I complained but nothing was done about it and i was still charged the fool amount of the meal.
Service excellent. Breakfast good and plentiful. 3Rd night free! Rooms very small for Marriott standards. Net curtains dingy and double glazing window frames filthy! A complimentary bottle of water should be provided as in all Hilton hotels. The television was a very small crt television and I have not seen one of these in a hotel room for years! Usually they all have large lcd or plasma televisions! Husband very disappointed. Rooms need updating!
Pleasant staff, good breakfast buffet Not as good as our last stay. Queen rather than king size bed and small room at the noisy front of hotel. Felt we would have got a better room if we had booked directly with hotel.
Excellent, friendly staff with lovely clean spacious grounds with fantastic facilities.
Easy to find, nice sized room Very warm - no air-con
The Imperial was easy to get with clear instructions on the booking confirmation. The staff were friendly. I stayed in a single room which was niceley decorated and the bed was huge!. The Imperial provided everything I needed for my overnight stay!
the hotel was not good value for money and the breakfast was very poor
Hardly anything, the hotel was 'tired' and in need of major refurbishment on the website I was led to believe this was a 4* establishment, from my experience it was only 2* See above
We have stayed at this hotel several times and on each occasion the staff have been very helpful. The hotel will oreder a taxi for you and the service is excellent. The cabbies are friendly and will advise where to go and what to see. The hotel is a tad dated, and will obviously benefit from the re-furb that's taking place.
Friendly staff the decor, could do with a revamp
Friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast!
Locallity to city centre , right size room and amenaties were on hand.Evening meal was good value
It was handy to newcastle where we were visiting for the evening
Very good size suite, still looks quite new, and furnished very comfortably. Quality mattress, and good location for the Quayside/Baltic Mill. Helpful staff, and one of the better buffet breakfasts we've had. Slightly out of the city centre for shops & restaurants (apart from those on the Quayside), and not the most enjoyable walk back at night.
Absolutly perfect for the weekend, and in fact I'd like to move in! Great Accom!
the refreshing and novel idea of the suite where its like your own personal flat
I thought that breakfast was very well executed I asked for a alarm call which never came!
Great concept. Convenient and well run. Keep up the good work and open more. None
Staff were great
It's very luxury! The suites are modern, minimal designed, having all the facilities for a quality way of living!!!!!
Accommodating and friendly staff, a clean comfortable room with no interior or exterior noise. Complimentary welcome pack with tea or coffee available at any time was a nice touch. Breakfast time can be quite busy and maybe more staff and a quicker turn around of hot food could help this.
1.convenience of having a well equipped kitchen. 2. everything very well designed for function and looks. 3. excellence of all staff. the shower floor is slippery.
Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good, something for everyone. The hotel was in desperate need of a refurbishment especially in the bedrooms & leisure areas. We specifically booked this hotel because of the pool & the jaccuzzi only to find that the jaccuzzi was out of action & then the pool was also out of action from 07:30-09:00 the following morning
The hotel was perfectly located for my stay and the the staff were friendly and helpful. I am disabled, but not in a wheelchair, my lower legs are paralysed which means I have extremely poor balance and therefore need a stick to maintain my balance when standing to serve myself at the buffet breakfast. I am therefore, not a big fan of self - service restaurants as I have to balance my plate on something while I serve up the food with my only free hand. On my third and final day, I was helped by a member of the restaurant who realised my predicament and offered her assistance - I gladly accepted. I know I could have asked for help, but the staff seemed busy most of the time and if one can manage, one generally does! Perhaps your staff could be encouraged to look for people who might be experiencing difficulty during the self ser
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms although slightly dated were very clean the food and beverages very expensive for what you get.
Ease of access to the main roads Extremely poor standard of food at dinner. Probably the worst curry I have ever been presented with to eat. The general standard of restarant service was poor. Staff seemed not to be welcoming or attentive both at dinner and breakfast.
The price of a breakfast £13.99 was frankly ridiculous
things to be explain before hand the price was changed ones we got to the hotle
the staff were very pleasant and helpful. great to use the spa and swimming pool. nothing
Easy access from A1 and into central Newcastle. The decor and fittings are a little "tired" and would benefit from refurbishment. Our rooms were at the end of a very long corridor.
Vist to family too many children !!
The food was beautiful and the rooms were spacious and very clean The staff trying to charge me for using the pool when it was free and the restaurant tryhing to charge us for our evening meal when we had an all inclusive deal.
friendly staff near to shopping centre and cleanliness and comfort ofroom and although did hear soem noise during the night outside there was no noise in the hotel itself normally you can hear other quests moving about some bacon at breakfast but onlky personally preference as breakfast was good
Clean and friendly. could do with a better hot breakfast
Friendly staff, clean rooms and modern. Great breakfast and fab location.
Location Hen nights!!!!!!!!!!!!
Staff were helpfull and friendly. Not enough staff during late evening
standards of room, cleansliness etc breakfast, we visited last year and it was a cold breakfast with toast, this year it changed and the egg was discusting, much greater choice last year
easy reach to the shopping centre, public transport close by if needed
Had an excellent wekend, enjoyed friendly, helpful staff.
We stayed during a bad snow spell therefore travel was limited but the staff were so helpful in booking us taxis to the metro centre and then to the train station the following day to ensure we caught our train home. We booked a non smoking room but were given a smoking one. You could smell stale smoke in room on arrival but we opened window and it was okay after a few hours.
east access to main road, hotel bar slightly isolated from other restuarants and nearby pub was shut
Comfortable, quiet rooms Food prices
Staff are always friendly and helpful. They also helped to dig our cars out from the snow.
quality of the room No where to park my car, totally full car park
i enjoy everything about the hotel i only stayed 1 night
The bar. The Novotel hotel in Newcastle was ok, fairly basic. Needs a Refurb as certain areas in the hotel were worn. Light feel off the wall, thank fully I wasn't in that room at the time. Asked for room service after hours and was told that I had to go and collect it myself!!!!! Very odd. Considering thats why they call it room service, and you pay extra for that facility. Naturally complained and they said "On this occasion we will make an exception!!!!" Think this needs dealing with.
The evening meal I had was reasonable, would not say all that enjoyable! I found the waiting staff very off hand. I did not like the hotel at all, would not use it again,or recommend it
room service expensive breakfast, would have liked some information regarding the works that were happening in the main reception
The Hotel was very good.
Beds are nice. Not worth for this price, the rooms are a bit old, not like the appearance outside.
