10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room with private bathroom and with the added bonus of a communal living area and kitchen. We didn't use the communal area as we were only there for one night but it would have been really useful if we were staying longer. I particularly liked that although it is a B&B, breakfast wasn't served within the owners home as you would normally expect but in the gorgeous Pedallars Cafe which is just a short walk across the beautiful back garden. It is also accessible to the public via a cycle route seperate to the B&B so it can get quite busy. The food did take a little longer to arrive because it is so popular but is definitely worth the wait. The staff were all very polite and efficient. We would definitely stay here again!
Cons: There was nothing not to like!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was lovely, very comfortable and clean, great hosts great place
Cons: The only thing we felt was lacking was lights on the terrace as it was dark out there when we wanted to sit outside and lights on the drive when you can in at night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A really excellent breakfast and attentive staff. the cottage was spotless and would highly recommend staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. All the staff were extremely friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was spot on. The accommodation was very comfortable and well maintained. The beds were comfy, Emma and David are great hosts. The breakfasts were delicious.
7.5 Good
Pros: Parking was great. The bed was excellent, room nice and comfortable. Cooked breakfast was good, but limited. Circulating hot water, meant no run-off wasted.
Cons: No light above the bathroom mirror. Heating not on until the last night of our stay. Breakfast at 09:30 far too late, and no cereal or fruit or yogurt were offered. "dining room" in a shed/cafe at the bottom of the garden is fine, all the time it's warm and not raining, but that can't be guaranteed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous host, great compound, a very fine cafe run by the hosts welcoming and catering for cyclists.
Cons: General problem on the Isle of Wight: Pack of public transport to connect villages and visitors to your the Island car free.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything,
Cons: It would be great if the sample size shower gel and shampoo could be replaced by refills
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely accommodation +facilities to make snack /picnic for walking /days out.Very high standard of cleanliness.
Cons: No negative comments

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was superb, delicious and plentiful. Location good - central but a lovely quiet road. Owner is delightful, and went out of her way to help and assist, and had lots of local knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she had a lovely sense of humour, which made for a very relaxing stay.
Cons: Parking was somewhat restricted, although we managed to acquire a space each night, and Owner advised on where to park should the car park be full.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed, quiet road, not to far from town centre, you could walk if you wanted to. Well cooked breakfast or continental.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, central in the island ensures all points of interest accessible within about half an hour. Guest house is very well run and comfortable with good breakfast options. We plan to book again for next year.
Cons: Nothing I can think of specifically, other than it might be useful to divide the forecourt with marked parking spaces.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was absolutely spot on with service , perfect for our stay everything we needed . Spotlessly clean , modern , easy access everything had been thought through at the accommodation . A lovely surprise & would definitely recommend .

Cons: Washbasin in the ensuite was a bit on the small size but still useable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, good size room with access into the garden
Cons: A little noisy - (bathroom fans from adjacent rooms). Memory foam mattress which isn't to my liking (but that's a personal thing)
7.1 Good
Pros: The proprietor was very helpful and friendly. She was most welcoming.
Cons: Beds were a little too soft for our liking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All fine Very helpful Very clean and tidy Excellent breakfast No complaints Would stay again
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Newport was a great base to explore the Island and Castle Lodge was an ideal place for us. We liked that breakfast was optional for an additional cost as we preferred to eat later in the morning. I especially liked the residents lounge -TV free zone - ! and the opportunity to sit outside in the patio area direct from our room. These features are not always available! We appreciated the parking provision and the fact that it was possible to walk to pubs and restaurants in Carisbrooke village in the evening. Castle Lodge seemed exceptionally clean and tidy
Cons: Nothing really. The double bed was a little small as was the room... but OK for our 4 night stay.

One Holyrood - Newport (Isle of Wight) - Building
4
9.1 Excellent (146 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Newport, One Holyrood is within a 5-minute drive of Seaclose Park and Carisbrooke Castle.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good overall. Heating didn't come on one evening, so a bit chilly in the room, and if you get a room on the side facing the street it can be a bit noisy. Good for business travelers as breakfast is from 7.15am, and good wifi connection
Cons: More cereal selection at breakfast maybe
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This was our second stay at this lovely boutique hotel. Perfect location, very friendly owner and staff, fabulous decor.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location close to centre of town without being noisy, breakfasts good choices and tasty. Room was pretty if rather small.
Cons: Lack of storage in the room, which was a bit small so getting to sockets was a struggle as they were behind furniture and trying to plug in the bedside lights and charge phones was extremely awkward. No parking was a pain as had to pay for parking every day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rooms great garden, laid back relaxing! Fabulous breakfast, great staff!
Cons: Nothing!
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and fantastic staff. Really comfortable beds and lovely rooms. Roadside rooms can be a little noisy from the passing traffic.
Cons: Parking in the town is a problem, make sure you have some change for the meters!!
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: Was very disappointed with the breakfast. Continental breakfast included muesli or cornflakes, bowl of chopped fruit and choice of two different yogurts. Tea or coffee choice. Toast you had to pay extra for!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Period character
Cons: No toilet door which is very strange Breakfast was basic toast and cornflakes or muesli. No pastries or ham and cheese. Cooked breakfast was extra which is okay if the other offering are good. Road outside is really noisy at night. Cars and the local pubs either side at clearing out time Shower head could do with replacing and handset shower on bath was broken. The downstairs setup a bit confusing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic one night stay over the August bank holiday weekend. Staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive, food was delicious, room was gorgeous, location was so convenient. We ate breakfast in the garden and had a lovely view from our twin room. We couldn’t have asked for more! It went beyond our expectations.
Cons: Our only gripe was the lack of standard plug socket in the bathroom and the height of the mirror over the dressing table in the bedroom, which meant you had to stand. An extremely minor inconvenience. If we’d been staying any longer then we might have struggled with the lack of a wardrobe - hangers and a coat stand were provided.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fab room with bath in the room as well as a walk in shower in the bathroom. It was in a great location and very near to a reasonably priced car park. Very attractive property.
Cons: Very steep and winding stairs to room- almost vertical! Probably should have a warning for anyone with mobility issues

7.1 Good
Cons: Breakfast was really disappointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The central location
Cons: Parking
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms very spacious and well decorated the bathrooms were also a good size. Perfect for couples
7.5 Good
Pros: The bedroom was very spacious with good sized beds for all. The decor was nicely done with a lovely treat bowl. The bathroom was again very spacious. The air con was a bonus and necessary. The food for breakfast as the wheatsheaf was good. The staff were all very polite and helpful where they could be.
Cons: The rooms needed some fresh air but the windows don't open in the bedroom which is very annoying. The wardrobe only had 3 hangers and for 4 of of us for 5 days that was not great! On our last morning the shower was cold. The car parking situation is a problem. There is a small car park for people staying on a first come first served basis. This is very tricky to get in and out and we scraped out car on the gate post which was sticking out. If you couldn't get in the car park you have to pay to park in the road which is a bit of a fiddle with the on line app! The bedding was too heavy for the summer making sleeping difficult.
6.0 Good
Pros: Rooms have been recently refurbished and look great. Good location on historic town square. Complementary tea and coffee. Spacious family room. Good breakfast. Air con in rooms.
Cons: Check-in is a bit hit-and-miss as reception is shared across three sites. Bathroom not great - shower not tall enough for anyone over 5'10" and no control over water temperature; zero interest on the part of staff of getting it fixed. Breakfast starting at 8am is a little late for young families. Parking was not available to me, so I had to park on the street for a fee. No big deal but contrary to information on the site.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful!
Cons: That you had to pay for parking
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and interesting rooms with great treats which was unexpected but very welcome.
Cons: Beds a little uncomfortable but I am very picky!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Charter House could not be faulted. It was excellent. The problem we had was the staff said that you(the booking company) did not relate to them that we requested two twin beds. As a result, they had to put us in the Wheatstaff, one of their group that was across the street. It was not on the same level as the Charter House. They graciously moved us the next day to the correct accommodations.
Cons: The booking company and hotel need to be on the same page as to room requests.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the fact of being driven from a to b was very much appreciated as not so near public transport .
Cons: It shouldn't be classed as a B & B as no breakfast was included , Being told to use hooks on the back of my bedroom door cos the wardrobe was full of the owners cloths, being told to spend the evenings when home in my room , with no chair , coffee making room tray, or TV in my room quite crass. Must be made they keep cats as I have an cat allergy. When asked if I wanted to re locate I'd already paid so bore with it , won't go there again or recommend it .

The coast, downs, and forest are all within walking distance as are a number of places to eat and drink. Surrounded by glorious countryside, Brighstone is within an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). In addition, there are National Trust properties to visit such as Mottistone Manor and its gardens. Also managed by the National Trust, the coastline is famous for its dinosaur fossils, geology and shipwrecks. We have lived on the Island for most of our lives and would enjoy advising and helping guests to plan their visit and make the most of their time here. There is secure storage for bikes and ample off road parking. For guests arriving on foot and staying for a number of nights, we would be happy to collect from Newport bus station. There is a stop nearby and a bus service of about 6 buses per day in each direction. Breakfast is provided in our breakfast room. A cooked breakfast is offered as well as yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal, toast, preserves, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Vegetarians catered for. We are unable to take children or pets, and no smoking is allowed in the house. We'd appreciate it if outdoor shoes were not worn in the house. 7.9 Good
Pros: Great poached eggs for breakfast and friendly staff. Central location and close to bus depot.
Cons: Road v noisy at night with bin collections and setting up market.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good central location for visiting Newport and Isle of Wight. Friendly staff, good breakfast, room cleaned and fresh towels every day.
Cons: Room 11 was a bit cramped for a double, especially when staying more than 1 night - no where to put your cloths.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good, served in a light airy room. The position of the hotel was good, very central.
Cons: The bar area was rather gloomy and dark. The access to the rooms was difficult, up two flights of circular stairs; very difficult when you are carry cases! and if you have doddgy knees. The room, although clean and tidy was small, too small for the superking sized bed, which was difficult to get round. The en-suite was also very tiny and the toliet had a leak. The room also had an airconditioning unit in the outside wall; I can understand why, as the room was small and the ceiling low and it was at the top of the building, but you could not get past the unit to access the bed from that side! Also the floor was quite un-even - but in fairness, it is a very old building.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff, clean bedroom, good breakfast
Cons: The bumf said evening meals available all week but when we went for dinner on Sunday evening there was no catering. Bedroom miniscule in size.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good except the toilet tank had a leak and it made constant noise.
2.9 Mediocre

Cons: Everything
5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast ok. Staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: Room too small, shower built for midgets
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff were freindly
Cons: Impossible to get into shower and wash properly very awkward
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and good decor. Staff very friendly.
Cons: The room was a little on the small side. No room to get out of one side of the bed. Also roller blinds in both rooms kept falling down as you adjusted it.
6.7 Good
Pros: Close access to a brilliant restaurant called, Novo.
Cons: I had a twin bed room on the top floor which was very small and it did not look like the photos on this site. One of the beds had wheels and if you sat on the bed it moved. There were no brakes on the bed either. There was no air con, just a fan that did not work, nor did the TV remote control. Also if anyone has any knee problems, you had to go up uneven narrow stairs. The breakfast was disorganized and there was no on site parking.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot, it was convenient for town but thats all. We booked this property because it said on your site it had parking, this proved not to be the case !! We had to use a pay and display car park across the road.
Cons: That there was no parking and we had to pay, then go and top it up after 6pm at night and then again just after 8am the following morning !!! Although the staff member was polite when we arrived, we found the room shabby, the bath was rusty, there was paint chipped off radiators and the window sill and the window was very difficult to close. Also no one had turned up to man the restaurant in the evening, despite being informed on arrival that someone would be there between 6pm and 6.30pm. Also in the morning despite having been told there was one vegetarian in the special request box, they said they couldn't provide the veggie version of the 'full breakfast' as they had no vegetarian sausages !!! It is 2019 after all !!
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location but problematic parking costs
Cons: Breakfast was very limited
7.1 Good
Cons: They charged us twice for room
6.3 Good
Pros: Service. Size of room.
Cons: Parking.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were lovely..very friendly & helpful.
Cons: Disappointed with ensuite, very large corner bath with hand-held shower and no shower curtain which was not easy to use without water overflowing onto floor. TV in room only worked on BBC 1 & 2.which was reported but nothing done. Also only 4 coathangers in wardrobe for a weeks stay? There was no lounge area to sit in just to enjoy a drink.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Very dated, bathroom needs a proper shower, dangerous stairs, uneven floors, average breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, right in the town centre and the room was amazing. I also loved how the bathroom is down a couple of steps!! I know it’s a weird thing to like but it really did seem so cool!
Cons: I found it a little strange not being able to enter the property on my arrival (the restaurant was locked up) but a quick phone call soon sorted it out. Maybe I missed it somewhere that this would be the case, but if I didn’t, then maybe making that apparent on booking would save a lot of confusion!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner were both excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast.I have stayed here before and was very happy to return again. excellent hotel with lovely staff.
5.8 Okay

Cons: Almost Everything Beds not comfortable had wheels on and they were moving while sleeping and keep on making us awake every time changed side Shower had no hangers and were really filthy reminding us of 60's and 70's. staff was rude and woman would check us in while we had paid in advance and would ask for £100 deposit for any damages before we checked in which was not mentioned on the time of booking that we will have to pay deposit for any damages still owe us deposit paid.
7.1 Good
Cons: Needs a deep clean, new carpets and redecoration. Also there doesn't seem to be a lift.
6.0 Good
Pros: Good situation. Good value for money. Although hotel was a little shabby it suited my purposes well. The room was clean and there were tea and coffee facilities.
Cons: Didn't have a shower in the en suite.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Hotel, was in a bad state of repair. Holes in the walls & wallpaper coming off the wall in my room.
Cons: The council should close this hotel!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Its convenient
Cons: Having to give them £50 retainer and not getting it back when you leave
7.5 Good
Pros: I did not have breakfast as I was only staying for a short time and had that out as we did not have much time so unable to give an opinion.
Cons: No where to sit outside the back to enjoy a drink. There was a lady travelling on her own and it would have been nice to keep her company as she was visiting her husband's grave. I didn't realise that it had changed so much since I lived here in the 90's but location wise it was perfect for me and my cousin as we know that area so well for public transport etc.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Option to book just the room
Cons: In need of refurbishment
5.8 Okay
Pros: it suited my needs.
Cons: the bathroom could have been cleaner. I wasn't aware of the deposit required, and then had to wait several weeks for the return
