The hotel was nice but difficult to locate. The hotel was very noisy one night. Our room was above the bar and we heard talking until the bar closed.
Great location - but only when you want to visit Etna (20 min drive from car park at cable railway to Etna). The nearby town Nicolosi doesn't have much to offer. Staff was nice, however hardly anybody spoke english. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly for months!
I believe the location is great in summer time if you are planning to go to visit the ETNA I wouldn't stay over 2 nights there as there it is far away from everything except the vulcano,. which can be visited easily in 1 day
Dont work bar and bad dinner and breekvest
Close to nicolosi town centre and etna sud. No fuss relaxed staff.
Swimming Pool. Location. Limited selection of drinks at the bar.Limited selection for breakfast.
Great location for exploring Etna, away from the bustle of Catania. Good swimming pool. Hotel had a faded grandeur and a slightly formal feel to it; bathroom not well maintained or especially clean. One guest had a dog in their room.
Good location for visiting Etna mount. Close proximity to town.
Fair and ok for the money
The fact that you can hear Etna "rumble" in the background. We hiked to Etna on foot, 16kms, not for the faint hearted but a great experience.
The location was great - bit tricky to find and don't be put off by the rather small and dirty lane way - the hotel is like an oasis.Beautiful pool and grounds. Restaurant was very good. Great views across the valley. Really enjoyed our stay - very relaxing. Room was small but adquate - ask for a room with balcony and view of the pool.
The hotel was lovely, restaurant food superb and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. We booked 2 nights and ended up only staying 1 night due to the extremely rude attitude of the managr when we complained about the unreasonable music at a party at 12.30. We were told by the manager that the only reason we were making a complaint was because we wanted to get away without paying. No apologies were offered at any time. We were alos concerned that the restaurant where we thought we were having a quiet evening meal was suddenly transformed into a men's evening and a belly dancer entered the room. At no point in the evening were we ever informed that this was going to happen, despite being at one point the only couple in the restaurant. I was the only woman in the restaurant during the whole evening which made the belly dancer experience rather disconcerting. The whole experience was unpleasant due to poor staff and management attitude, when the hotel was actually lovely. We advised the reception staff of our reason for leaving early.
The hotel looks nice and the furniture is quite new and fancy! The rooms are a bit small but ok. The pool is lovely and the sunbeds are comfortable. It is defenitely one of the nicer looking hotels in the whole area. There is one big problem with this hotel, which is the constant noise! All day at the pool they play very annoying Euro-dance music. We asked, if they could switch it off, however, they told us this was impossibel (even though we were the only guests at the pool at that time!) In addition, on 3 out of 7 evenings, the hotel organised events which went on till 2 am. Again, with the same annyoing music, this time even louder than during the day! It was impossible to find any sleep. Seems like for the hotel mangagement the events are more important than the hotel guests, even though they advertise their hotel as a romantic gataway on their website. Finally, the pool is open to the public, which means that on weekends, it is super busy.
Outdoor. I didn t like at all. It was noisy, dirty, cold at nigt, very poor breakfast.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was a high standard and very good value for money. Excellent outside area by the pool overlooking Mt Etna and only 25 min drive to the cable car. Other than some cereal, breakfast was limited to packaged breads and biscuits.
A very nice hotel, superb view, nice food, great for mountain gateaway. Not easy to find in the dark, no elevator.
Hotel is new, furniture is new, bedding is very comfortable, great view, nice pool, wonderful A/C, restaurant food is excellent, easy drive to Mt. Etna, free parking onsite. Resturant is only 3 tables in the lobby, staff does not speak much English, no tv channels in English, no hairdryer provided.
Good location. Generally pleasant and helpful staff. quick response from room service. Excellent potato and mushroom soup in the restaurant!!. Except for the bathroom safety issue, the room was good and when no opener was available for the minibar, one was quickly supplied along with the room service. We had a great view of Etna from our room that afternoon--an unexpected plus after spending ten days in other parts of Sicily. Downgraded you on "facilities" primarily on the safety issue. Like all European hotels, no one seems to make it easy for older people to get in and out of the shower/tub safely. Besides the wall bar, there are hold bars that fasten to the edge of a tub which are helpful in getting out. I have seen some here in the US, don't think I saw any in European hotels. Also square toilet seat was a surprise--we even took a photo because we had never seen such before--but I don't find that it is very comfortable to sit on!
Room was large and clean but next to some staff room at the very end of the hall downstairs so could hear loud talking. The location is good for travelers having to fly in and out of Catania airport. The hotel has a shuttle for 5 Euros. At a minimum coffee or tea should be provided for guests no matter even if they paid less than another guest. The hotel is not near restaurants and cafes so you would have to leave the hotel to go to a cafe.
Room was a nice size and it was clean. Steph was unfriendly and unhelpful. Also, shuttle bus was full when we needed it. We needed to get to the airport at 5 o'clock in the morning. That's why we stayed at the hotel! Had to take a taxi for $20 instead.
Room spacious and clean. Close to airport. Shuttle pickup slow. Seem to run the shuttle hourly. So close to the airport it could be as needed or, at least, twice per hour.
Patricia - the owner - received us in a very welcoming way. We got a lot of good advice concerning tours on Etna, restaurants etc. from her. Breakfast was great. This B&B can be fully recommended!
Patritcia knows how to make you feel at home at the La Giara, she gives you lots of tips and help, what made us feel extremely welcome!! rooms are decorated with lots of love for detail, breakfast was really nice nothing
Excellent breakfasts with fresh blood orange juice. Internet connection. Secure parking on site. Nice balcony with view over the Ionian Sea. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Staff, clean nature of hotel and location
Beautiful place, friendly staff, good conditions of staying, easy to find from the main road.
Beautiful house, good location, friendly atmosphere
Excellent value for money
The staff were helpful and friendly The kitchen where we ate was small and I did not like eating while the washing-up was being done
The hostess was very helpful and provided good information about things to see and do on our drive around Mt. Etna. The breakfast included good, fresh rolls and fresh squeezed orange juice.
The very clean and wide room, friendly owner, location which was easy to find out and also very close to Catania and Taormina if you have a car, and the wonderful breakfast.
location in center of catania
The staff were very helpfull Nothing
the bed as to hard
The location of the hotel was good, it is on the main street and near restaurants. The bus to the Airport is just outside the door and cost only 1euro, so dont bother with a taxi. The staff could have been more helpful. we went upstairs to the roof bar on our first night and were charged €8 each for a drink, there was a buffet set out, but none of the staff bothered to tell us that if we paid one euro extra we could have had the buffet included. The reception staff didnt seem to know much about the Mt Etna tours, they werent able to book one for us, yet when we rang the tour operator from our room, we were able to get it straight away. The lobby of the hotel was always very quiet, very few people around, a strange feeling.
Staff is excellent. Price is very good. I will come back again.
The location is excellent and the staff were so helpful and obliging. The cleanliness both of the room and the common areas was extremely good - better than in a number of 5 star hotels around Europe i stayed in.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast, featuring both hot and cold items, breads, cornetti, cakes, champagne, and juices was not only delicious but the best that we have had in Italy. The room was clean, modern with comfortable beds. The location was ideal - right on the main shopping street of Catania and only 5-10 minute walk to the Duomo. The hotel is also very near the main open market selling fresh vegetables, fruit, bread, meat, and clothes. We stayed at the hotel in February. The temperature of the room was preset to 26 degrees Celsius. It was a little bit on the warm side. Although we tried to change the thermostat, it always reverted back to 26 degrees. This is only a minor complaint however as everything else about the hotel is perfect.
We were in honeymoon and receptionist upgrade us to a suit.Staff is very helpfull and friendliness. Location is center and walk distance to many places. Smell of the room, Ac is not working proparly. Internet is expensive.
Friendly and helpful staff.
I liked most the comfort of the room especialy the use of the air conditon, and the tideness of the beds.and next time i will be visiting Catania again I will book overethere.
The rooms were decorated very tastefully and the service was personal and friendly Etna hut cannot.be considered a hotel. I don't understand why booking.com calls ot a hotel. Its rather a top class b&b
Friendly staff, great location to visit the Etna and the hillside villages The room had no windows
Great Location, awesome food and staff was helpful and friendly.
Staff were very friendly and the food was very good
Location is excellent - Staff very cordial and efficient - Comfort rooms - very good breakfast NA
The breakfast and the dining area were lovely and the staff excellent. We are very comfortable in recommending it to others
Food in the restaurant was very good. Staff very helpful, courteous and friendly Our meal on thursday 21st was exactly the same as that on the wednesday although very good 20th. Howevber a word with reception ensured we had different menu friday and saturday which were bo9th excellent. some thought need sto be put into serviuce for guest who stay more than 1 night
Good quality, clean and friendly staff. A bit pricy. Location not great (Catania is not great as well) but close to the center.
Free internet in the room and free drinks in frig, very nice deco overall.
1) the central placement of the hotel 2) in low season they can park your car themselves in the garage 1) the city itself is awful: very dirty, all walls and historic buildings are in graffity even fountain and main street, a lot of poor and dirty people on streets outside the 1 main walking road (so in the evening it's scary to walk). We ran away from this city on 3d day, although planed to stay for 5. The main reason to come here is Etna - that is fantastic. 2) the hotel itself is business-style one with old furniture with respective "old smell" in rooms. Think that it should be cheaper
Well appointed and tastefully furnished. Friendly staff on the whole. Excellent food and breakfast - beware of the gourmet dinner, it has 8 courses! Not a great location, being tucked away in side streets a fair walk from the city centre. Driving is impossible - allow 1 hour to get to the airport at busy times.
Friendly staff (although the barman was sometimes difficult to find) Some loud, brash Americans who were obviously on their tour of Europe, and thought they owned it.
position for exploring
good facilities, beach , pool, location to airport
beach, pool, breakfast no adaptor for the plug, promise the charge for the phone, then turn out don't have a common one, staff English was poor and not helpful for this.
swimming pool no early breakfast for at least a cup of coffee for early leaving
Internal decor was refreshing, staff were in the main helpful and the room quiet for a stop over.It was the nearest to the airport but still 10 mins drive. We could not be offered computer facilities to confirm our onward flight and there was no complimentary transit bus available from airport to hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff The beach area across the road was not so great
The staff were very hlepful and accomodating. I was looking for an airport hotel with a shuttle for an early morning flight and it was perfect. My room was fine but the carpets throughout the hotel are in bad shape. It gives the impression of slight seediness.
Staff were very accommodating and took care of the few problems that did occur. Easy drive from the hotel to work and to the downtown. Quiet and not alot of traffic in the area. Wireless access cost.
We had a fabulous time at the Parco degli Aragonesi. All of the staff were very helpful and curteous and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who wants the ease of being yards from the beach, great pool and a good restaurant. It was so easy to travel into Catania and the holiday was great. We are thinking of booking again as we had such a good time.
The swimming pool, the breakfast and the fact there was outside seating at the restaurant We thought the food sereved in the restaurant was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. On most oaccasions the food was barely warm and not hot, service although polite and frielndly was incredibly slow and the menu was monotonous particularly on the last two nights when there were not even any dishes of the day to choose from
Kein Shuttleservice von und zum Flughafen am Samstag ab 13 Uhr und auch nicht am Sonntag. Man muss ein völlig überteuertes Taxi buchen. No shuttle to airport after Saturday 13.00 and also none on Sunday. These times would be the most important times to offer the shuttle to turists. You have to take a taxi wich is extremely expensive and at the end halve the price of the room. For this reason we never come back to this hotel.
Everything was perfect. The best staff!. Very nice rooms, comfortable, parking, near city centre, near bus. It is a very good choice in order to have a pleasant time
Hotel staff noice from the street
Very friendly staff, nice rooms, close to the center (5 minutes walk).
Room, breakfast, hotel interior, location are good. Hotel bar didn't work at midnight. Hotel staff failed to provide adapter for electricity plugs, so I had no ability to charge my laptop.
everything was ok, early check out and late check in
location, interior and breakfast Wifi didn't work at that time.
the only that no wifi was on place they told that no cards and we have to go to vodafone to buy moble connection sorry in a hotel normaly is free in malta you find free wifi even in a restaurant am not saying in hotel room but in reseption thank this was not the first time that we was in hotel
Everything in the hotel are very new.The staff is very helpful and kindly.
The hotel was very pleasant inside, rooms well appointed. Outside not special but then no buildings are in catania! Didnt eat at the restaurant as was expensive and choice quite limited. Breakfast adequate
The location close to the airport and the nice room
Near to the airport, nice green garden oasis in the town. This hotel is too far from 5 stars.
Rooms were very clean and good size Lower your food and beverage prices. We stayed at this hotel due to the location of the closeness to the airport. Also taxi that was hired from your hotel was an outrageous price for a five minute drive to the airport. Hotel should provide a shuttle to the airport as it is so close.
The pool was in excellent settings and very ease to enter if one is elderly. The food and service also excellent when we dined in the evening and the atmosphere was lovely. The hotel itself is a little shabby and too drab for a mediterranean seaside resort, it could do with a nice light uplift. Apart from that we enjoyed our two day stay. A little more care on the cleanliness in general
The hotel is in general nice, namely the garden and the swiming pool. It's located near the beach, although it's on the other side of the road (no direct connection); The hotel is in front of a noisy road; the employees are nice in general but need a little bit more of organisation; we found the bedroom small for one couple and one child
cleanliness and the pool
* REstruant made some good food (pasta at least). * Close to airport if yo on you way home (But is is not reaally possible to work to airport even it is only 2 km away). * Rooms to small! * Resturant service limited (only from 20 o clock in the evning, hence ,ot good for famillies with small childeren). Limited selection for room service! PRICY prices!
Pool. Still no fitness center. I stayed for a week and breakfast was the same every morning. Overpriced menu.
Double room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety including hot food and fresh fruit. The hotel staff were very helpful. The hotel has a superb swimming pool and offers access passes to the adjoining beach. It also operates a complimentary airport and city centre shuttle. Free WIFI is available in all the rooms. The hotel restaurant meals were excellent and reasonably priced. Parking provided on the site. Have no complaints about this hotel.
Spacious room, clean and nice bathroom. Nice staff (Alfredo) ! Modern and nice pool, great breakfast, lots of choice. The hotel is about 5 min. from the city centre. There is a hotel shuttle, but the shuttle doesn't drive frequently. Drinks and food are pretty expensive in the hotel, glas of soda eur 4,-.
