Pros:The location of the hotel was perfect for attending my sons graduation, gas station within same parking lot, restaurant all right there on location. Just a mile down the road from where I neeeded to be.
Cons:Cleanliness was poor. The bedspread had cigarette holes and I was in a non smoking room.

Pros:Staff were very helpful and accommodating, shuttle service to Navy graduation was quick and easy. Location was easy to find and convenient for graduation. While everything in the hotel was thrift store quality, the bed was comfy, the water was hot, and the heater in the room worked fine.
Cons:This hotel is definitely being used as a cash cow by the owners. First let me say that we didn't have high expectations based on the reviews of others. Yes, the sheets had holes in them, there was a light bulb missing in the room, and there was mildew in the grout around the tub. The painting contractor didn't clean up his goofs with the roller so there were interesting dark red marks on the tub, shower curtain, and wall. The toilet paper holder was broken and the floor under the toilet was soft so the toilet was a bit wobbly (and was clogged when we got there, but a plunger solved that problem in short order). Having said that, the desk and cleaning staff do their utmost to ensure guests are as well cared for as they can. I've received poorer service from $300/night hotels.
Cons:The beds were too soft, to the point that both my wife and I backs were sore in the morning. There was a fold up spare bed in the corner of the room. we didn't request it but I took a look at it and saw that there was clumps of hair on it, as if an animal had used it last. The toilet was problematic, the chain inside was too long for the handle and it constantly was getting caught in the opening, so the the water would continue to try to fill the tank. I noticed once that it ran like that for almost an hour, until I fixed it. We did request a non smoking room, didn't notice any smells, but there were burn holes in the blankets.
Pros:red carpet inn is the most accessible and practical place to stay when you visit the u.s.navy base in great lakes, il chicago.
Cons:none that i could think of, because we only stayed for a short time to attend the u.s navy ceremony/graduation at great lakes, il.
