Open Hearth Inn - Trenton - Bedroom

9.0 Excellent (105 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Open Hearth Inn in Ellsworth, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island Oceanarium. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available 24 hours).
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay for a visit to Acadia. I've stayed at three different inns both on and around Mount Desert Island, and this is the nicest one I've stayed at of the three. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated, check-in was easy, and overall I thought it was a great value. Would definitely stay again!
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The price was the draw, and we had a suite upstairs that was very quiet. It included TV, microwave, fridge and was comfortable. We had A/C and the bath was tiny, but very clean and adequate. We were surprised to find freshly baked muffins (delicious) and a basket of fruit in the morning. The owner was delightful and friendly. For the price it was perfect for us. This hotel offers a variety of types of rooms, definitely no cookie cutter here!
Cons: No good way to enjoy breakfast in the room. We brought yogurt, fruit and rolls and had to balance them on our laps on a sofa. Could have used paper towels or a 'bar cloth' around the coffee maker for spills.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The place was very nice & quaint. The owner was very nice, friendly & helpful. Great hospitality ! Oh, and the muffins the owner baked every morning, were delicious.
Cons: Nothing! Everything was excellent!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. The blueberry muffins were excellent! And the cottages were very quaint. We also loved the location next to the airport.
Cons: Uncomfortable bed
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Cute place. Beds were comfortable and the owner/manager treated us like family!
Cons: A little far away from Bar Harbor but the free shuttle helped!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean, lovely staff. A lot cheaper than staying in Bar Harbor, and only 10min drive there. Absolutely suited our needs.
Cons: Nothing, it was right near the little airport, but didn’t really hear the planes at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cabin was awesome. Location great, down road from Acadia. Lobster and icecream across the street. Amazing homemade 3berry muffins for breakfast!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quaint cottages near Bar Harbor, comfortable beds, great sunroom with large hot tub.
Cons: Too close to busy road, rather expensive for what it is.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice home baked muffins and coffee in morning.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfast muffins
Cons: Office hours are limited
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to Acadia National Park. Cute property. Was very small tho. And my cottage was too close to road.. it needed more cleaning. Many travelers there have worn this cute spot and not been respectful. The original pine wood walls are a treasure. Garden was adorable. Every cottage had an outdoor space.
Cons: Carpet was not clean. Was very small. Wicker chair was filthy and broken. Others just don't take care and trash places. Not very respectful... Little tiny storage. It is ok For 1 for a day or so but very cramped..

Pros: The neg thing we can say about this place was that it could clean the walls and cupboards etc better. Just needed a good wipe down.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very comfortable mattress. Thin and thick pillows provided, to suit either preference. Hot water comes on immediately and is just the right temperature. Multiple interior locks for security. Staff is very friendly and eager to share experience about Acadia NP and surrounding area.
Cons: Room is small. Bed takes up most of space. Small table with single wooden chair. Only 4 clothes hangers, no dresser. Bathroom very basic. Bath towels thin. This queen bed room was adequate for 1 person, but would be tight for 2 people.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good price
Cons: Next to the airport. Some bugs since it was next to open fields.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Size of room. Location.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had adjoining rooms and had a kitchen in the one which we found very handy. There were grills and a fire pit which we used and were glad for. The maid even washed our dishes for us! We attended the little Baptist Church across the road.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staffs

Overview Reviews
Located in Ellsworth, Isleview Motel and Cottages is within a 15-minute drive of Wild Acadia Fun Park and Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.8 Good
Pros: We were looking for a cheap motel and feel we got a good deal. The building was old (expected) but in good condition and clean. The bathroom was a comfortable size and the bed was also comfortable. The password protected wifi worked well. The location was conveniently just outside of Acadia National Park. Overall our stay was pleasant and comfortable.
Cons: On the downside, we expected traffic so close to Acadia National Park, but turning onto the busy highway was more difficult than anticipated. The traffic noise didn't bother us but could be a problem for a light sleeper. There was no place in the bathroom except the toilet seat to put our stuff and not enough space for hanging clothes.

Cons: Too expensive for quality/amenities. No TV. Internet inadequate. Shower drain clogged. Room poorly furnished. Hotel needs updating.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and accommodations were incredible
Cons: The food at the restaurant was soooo disappointing. It is such a beautiful place to dine with the views and setting. Too bad.
4.5 Okay
Pros: good location
Cons: Room had no AC. The bath tub was clogged and not fixed after asking them to fix twice. With no AC in the room it was stuffy and humid inside, we had to keep windows open to sleep and there was noise outside. Overall lovation was great but the almost $300 for a night is too high for this property.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view was spectacular! The food was great and people were friendly
Cons: It was too quiet! Music & Tv would be appreciated The first night was a little creepy like a scary movie
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn was beautiful! Our room was very spacious & comfortable. The staff was friendly & helpful for the inn as well as the restaurant. Great location - short distance from Acadia National Park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property that is a quaint New England Victorian Inn. Very attentive staff and nice breakfast served on the porch overlooking the water.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was great. The decor was great. Beautiful view. Like that it is an old Inn with a lot of character. The pop-overs were great. Happy hour is great. All and all a great experience. Food was excellent.
Cons: Waitress one night for dinner was drunk or on medication. Dinner service was extremely slow. Waitress got a little upset when we pointed out we didn't get our popovers and slammed them on the table with the butter and jelly. I think she was having a bad day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Look the food, breakfast included and cross the street from garden!

Easy walking distance to an historic shopping area and restaurants. We liked the food trucks in the park and the farmer's market on one of the days we were there. Loved the common area of the hotel where I could relax alongside the sliding glass doors that overlooked the pool.
Cons: Can't think of anything.

Harbourside Inn - Northeast Harbor - Bedroom
6
8.7 Excellent (23 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Northeast Harbor, Harbourside Inn is in a national park, within a 5-minute drive of Asticou Azalea Garden and Acadia National Park. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quintessential New England Inn. Lovely well staffed and maintained property. Very friendly and accommodating staff and proprietor. We didn't have a refrigerator in our room but the staff found us space in their private refrigerator. Technically you could have walked into town though we chose to drive. Comfortable room though do note that the top floors do not have air conditioners. It wasn't a problem during our stay but could be later in the season.
Cons: Breakfast was exactly as described--muffins and fruit. If you need something more or if you get up early, plan ahead!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fresh blueberries muffins were delicious. I also appreciated the variety of fresh fruit and the hot coffee.
Cons: No concerns whatsoever.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a smile on my face the minute I turned into the driveway. Michael was extremely nice and welcoming, and helpful. The decor was wonderful, I love the whimsy of the carrot stick, the Cheshire Cat plate , which held the morning coffee cups, to the little birds nests, on the way to my room. The garden was beautiful and pleasant to walk around. Unfortunately, I had to run off in the morning, but was fortunate that the blueberry muffins were out fifteen minutes early!!! Everything was exceptional!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Cons: I can think of nothing!
7.0 Good
Pros: Neat old house with great muffins for breakfast. Great sitting area off our room. Overall lots of charm.
Cons: There was no AC which I didn’t realize and it was hot! Cooled at night but just be prepared. Old house so old small bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! Our room with the fireplace and sitting porch was awesome. And the water pressure in the shower was amazing!! Breakfast was great, and so were our host and hostess.
Cons: there wasn't a thing that we didn't like.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The house was full of character, it is an old building with some quirky bits and in a great position for exploring Northwest Harbour on foot. Full of atmosphere and in a quiet location. It also has some great hikes and beautiful gardens you can access, straight from the door. The staff were able to recommend some places to eat and reasonably priced shopping.
Cons: There was only fruit options for food intolerances at breakfast, the muffins were home made and warm, but contained dairy and gluten. The staff made no attempt to accommodate this. The WiFi on the top floor rooms was sketchy, I found access by sitting in the floor by the door!! The shower was over a roll top bath which looked beautiful, but impractical for people with limited movement.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Place was quiet and peaceful and the ppl were very friendly. Fireplace was a nice bonus as well.
Cons: The only part we didn't like was the rain the one day other then that is was perfect
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Such a cute inn! It felt so cozy and warm. Our room was spacious and the shower had great pressure. Everything was clean!
Cons: Not much to do in the town of Northeast Harbor, but we still enjoyed the quietness
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Visiting with others that were staying there. Home made blueberry muffins!
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Felt like we stepped back in time - lovely old summer house, enjoyed the cosy room & fireplace. Village is just a 5minute walk, a couple of restaurants for dinner but limiting. Coffee & tea available 24/7.
Cons: Old plumbing system meant some loud noises at night that kept waking us up. No outside space/garden. Limited breakfast - muffins and fruit, considering the price of the room was not value for money. Would suggest staying in the plentiful area of Bar Harbour instead.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast menu was Extraordinary and the Servers were Cheerful and helpful. Food was great...there’s a Bakery so all Bread was Delicious. The Room was convenient in every way. Size of the Suite and Cleanliness was unexpected Close to Everything you came here for...walk to the harbor and take the Princess Tour. Lobsters are always in walking distance
Cons: The only thing I could say was there was no soap available for the washing machine(bring a small jar). Didn’t even expect to have one.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great value, location and accommodation
Cons: There is no lobby for check in - you check in at the local bakery - quaint but not clear on booking and we arrived later in the evening so a bit confusing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious suite. Great breakfast. Location not as lively as Bar Harbor
Cons: Sofa bed was not very comfortable..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and quiet room
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location, there is a bakery and restaurant downstairs. The suite was nice and clean and air-conditioning rocked.
Cons: The bathroom door latch didn't work. The owner was out of town that night so nothing could be done. We used a chair inside the bathroom for people to not accidentally walk in when occupied. The bath tub drained real slow.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the staff was AMAZING!! the food was very good, breakfast was just enough, not too heavy. I was disappointed in the location. When I booked it I did not expect to be in a storefront but, by the end of the weekend we decided that we would love to come back and stay there again!@ The suite was wonderful, the visit in all was great! Michele (Steve's Partner)
Cons: nothing that you can change....just the location was not exactly what I expect5ed but that was my own fault in booking..but it turned out great after all!!! We LOVEDF the place!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location. Breakfast as part of plan. Enough room for two adults and a comfortable sofa bed for granddaughter. Fridge and few utensils plus microwave very nice.
Cons: The breakfast choices were huge, heavy meals, 6 of them to chose from with no changes allowed. No fresh fruit, cold cereal, yogurt, or oatmeal were options. Blueberry pancakes were delightful but....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money, the Colonels Suites are spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. Not fancy, but the important things (bed, towels, equipment, quiet) are really well done. The staff, starting with Terry, the owner, could not have been nicer. The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and pleasantly delivered. The other meals were also great. We’ll be back for sure!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The quaint 6 room hotel was very quiet. Lovely accommodations. The little extras were a nice touch.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The restaurant was close.
Cons: Parking was not adequate, blood on the comforter- YUCK!!!!, breakfast started too late for people who wanted to get an early start on their day and I didn't like a limited menu for what we paid we should have had access to full menu. Not as close to acadia as advertised.

5.5 Okay
Pros: The rooms were very clean, the pool was clean, and the location was very accessible to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Also that we were able to barbecue on one corner of the wide lawn.
Cons: Despite the cleanliness, the age of the Motel showed - bathroom sink stopper broken, toilet seat detached at one end, bedroom lamps were wobbly, and beds were too sunken for comfort. The protective cover on bathtub floor to prevent slipping was too old and dirty I tried to take it off unsuccessfully. One staff was very welcoming and friendly; but another was rude and condescending when I tried to ask a favor which other hotels would have accommodated, of course for an additional charge. My nephew who heard my conversation with the said staff described her as rude. It is ironic that the motel’s signboard says below its name, “Friendly Staff”
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Would stay there again. Very nice and clean.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location for Acadia National Park
Cons: No on-site snacks or drinks for purchase.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was close to Bar Harbor, but not near the congestion observed near the pier. A BBQ joint was about 500 feet from this location and so was another restaurant and miniature golf place.

10.0 Excellent

Pros: Very clean and convenient to Acadia natl Paarl.Friendly managers, quiet. Breakfast place nearby. 10min to downtown.
Cons: Very small bathroom. Mattress felt like a waterbed. If not, need to replace with a firmer mattress.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was near enough to drive to Bar Harbor and there was a good restaurant nearby to walk to. It was near an entrance to Acadia.
Cons: We had hoped to be closer to the ocean and to have views, and sometimes it took time to drive where we wanted to go.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Poor plumbing, sink backup, shower weak
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Affordable, comfortable, clean, quiet and good location.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, well furnished, comfortable bed
Cons: bathroom very small (cramped-wash basin in living room) old style TV (not HD) no vending or ice
5.7 Okay
Pros: Room was clean and affordable
Cons: Amenities and hospitality. - no hooks for towels - no info sheet on wifi info or property amenities - no ice on property - shower head didn’t have good pressure and switch between shower and faucet became stuck, so couldn’t switch between the two - housekeeping stopped by and replaced the towels but didn’t take the trash or provide more soap beyond the tiny bar included on Day 1 - proprietors weren’t very personable - location loud due to noise from nearby highway
