Pros: Marie is a fantastically friendly hostess with a great sense of humour and a fine selection of cats, which endeared me to her from the off. The location is calm and beautiful, ditto the house itself. The shower was nicely hot and powerful, and the bathroom and bedroom very roomy.
Cons: I'd just move the house a tad nearer the restaurant so I could have ditched the car and walked to dinner. However, this is a very small (and half joking!) point.

Pros: The location was great with a fabulous restaurant across the road. The setting of the house is great with many trees and flowers surrounding it. Our hosts were very friendly and we felt part of the family from the moment we met, chatting into the late hours and enjoying the garden with their dog and kids. Easy to get to Giverny and Vernon, both of which are lovely places to visit!

Pros: Hosts are excellent. They are very kind and willing to help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The kindness of our hosts was exceptional. The suite of two rooms and bathroom were large, comfortable and wonderfully traditional. We have two children under 6, our whole family was made to feel very welcome. The children were free to play in the large garden, on the trampoline, in the small swimming pool and drive a go cart around the old tennis court. They recommended the restaurant opposite which served superb food. We enjoyed breakfast with our hosts, which was an amazing spread of croissants and many other fresh breads served with home made jams, hot milky chocolate in bowls, cereals, fresh juice and coffee. They gave us tips on where we might visit once we reached our destination in the Loire (we has a great time at the Zoo in Beauval). The space for parking was ideal behind high locked gates. We only stayed for one night but our children wanted to stay all week! We would definately return for a stop over if travelling further south in the future. Thank you for our wonderful stay!

7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely location in the beautiful Eure Valley, great bathroom. Really friendly hosts and a great breakfast with a tame hen! Owners are happy for you to use their swimming pool and outdoor kitchen.
Cons: Check in time at 6pm (possibly only if mid week) is much later than usual and meant we had to replan our day / journey from the Loire. This was not made clear on booking.com until confirmation email / exchange with owners. The bedroom was quite hot as no window, only a french door. We would have asked for a fan if staying a second night. Bed a little too hard for us, but fine for a one night stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, very friendly, enthusiastic owners, we would not have wanted to miss the oportunity to meet them! A perfect stay for a few days if you want to become....ZEN :-)

Les Chambres du Bonheur - Pacy-sur-Eure - Pool

9.3 Excellent (45 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Fontaine-Sous-Jouy, Les Chambres du Bonheur is in a regional park, within a 15-minute drive of Chateau du Buisson de May and Gaillon Golf Course. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, as well as being so quiet. We enjoyed our room and all the facilities available, with a large, powerful shower, very comfortable bed and coffee machine providing the morning cuppa. A Continental breakfast was brought to us each morning of our stay, in a basket. The host and hostess welcomed us with a glass of wine in a very cheerful and helpful manner - showing us around our room and always being there to assist us with any enquiries. The bonus of its location in that local towns/cities like Evreux and Giverny (with Monet's Garden etc) are easy to drive to and from and then Paris is close enough to get to by taking a restful train journey. Weather was so good it was a bonus and allowed us an opportunity to enjoy some time to ourselves in the location's outdoor pool.
Cons: Not so much a dislike but advice to other future visitors: take some DVDs with you, to use in the room's TV during the evenings in because programmes are limited to French only. Second piece of advice is to learn some 'local' french, in order to speak with the wonderful host and hostess. Finally, it's fair to say that WiFi is intermittent, because of the surroundings, i.e. in a valley area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good place for relax!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Private, the room is in a separate guesthouse. Very stylishly appointed, nice bathroom. The host was very nice, offered us drinks on arrival and invited us to swim in the pool. Breakfast was good too, with fresh bread, croissants, jams and fruit salad.
Cons: Wifi worked only outside

Pros: The owners are the nicest and most helpful people, probably in the whole of France. Albert went far beyond the call of duty to help us with a problem with our car, without which our trip would have been ruined.

Pros: Friendly service and the owners couldn't do enough for you . We had the choice of any room as no one else was staying that night. Felt that the man owner was a bit lonely and he wanted to talk and play his guitar for us. Nice stroll in the village, For the first time ever we were asked what we would like for breakfast and we actually had boiled eggs as well as the usual bread and pastries. She really wanted to please.

Pros: Very friendly owners and homely accommodation. Would stay again.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love rural locations so the little village of Houlbec-Cocherel was perfect for me. Travelling as a solo motorcyclist I always appreciate the offer of getting the bike off the road - this happens most of the time in France and Aux Vieilles Pierres was no exception. The accommodation was perfect for me - two rooms plus en-suite bathroom, plenty of room to spread out. Good breakfast. If you fancy treating yourself in the evening pop down to Restaurant Le Millésime less than 10 minutes down the road.
Cons: Nothing - all good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice quiet place with garden & animals

Pros: The lady who ran the place could not have been more helpful. The accommodation was a bit quirky and a tad small but full of nice touches and the bathroom was superb. Ideal for a night or two when visiting Monet's garden. Breakfast was great.
Cons: Nothing really.

Pros: Everything was as expected. Nice owners, excellent breakfast in the family-run pub, wonderful garden with pets. Very quiet place in a beautiful village.
Cons: Nothing.
7.0 Good
Pros: Rustic place
Cons: Rural location, far from underground station as stated in one review! Needs to be removed, inaccurate review
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was delightful and the owner very helpful and considerate throughout our stay. The price was reasonable given its location.
Cons: We didn’t know there was no restaurant in town so after a long very hot day of driving found we needed to drive about 7kms to a town with a restaurant. Normally not an issue for us but that particular day it was.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice garden , Great breakfast, good coffee, friendly staff, animals around, delicious baguette
Les Granges Menillonnes - Pacy-sur-Eure

8.7 Excellent (100 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Les Granges Menillonnes in Menilles, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Chateau du Buisson de May and Birch Forest. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was basic but good.Garden very pretty. The owner was very helpful
Cons: The room was a little basic .
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The house and garden were lovely and everything was very clean. We were given an upstairs room that had its own little terraced area overlooking next door garden. There is a nearby park alongside the river Eure which is great for dog owners. The host was really welcoming and helpful and we were able to understand most things with our not so great French. She helpfully recommended a local fish restaurant (Chez Jul's owned by the next door fishmonger L'Assiette des Viviers in nearby Pacy s/Eure) and kindly booked us a table where we had an enjoyable meal. She also made sure we could have some breakfast even though we had to leave before the boulangerie delivery at 8:30am. Definitely a good place to stay.
Cons: Unfortunately, parking was in a residential street opposite the property not actually on site, as stated. WiFi didn't work in upstairs rooms (not as advertised in all areas) but fine in garden so not really a problem in summer time..
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved our stay here. We were cycling from Le Havre to Paris and used this a base for one night en route. As it was during the Tour de France, I commented that it was great to have a TV in the room as it meant we could watch that day's stage, and the owner told us we could watch it on the big TV in her living room instead. Bonus! The garden is absolutely stunning, and the owner clearly spends a lot of time maintaining it. Our room was very spacious (I thought i'd booked a double but we ended up in a triple, which was fine), clean and light and airy, with a large bathroom and nice powerful shower. There is ample storage space, and everything you need. I didn't find a hairdryer in the room, but i'm sure would have been provided with one had I asked. Breakfast was lovely, shared with other guests, and the owner is on hand to help out if you need more supplies. She has two dogs (puppies when we were there and super cute, particularly 8-week old Pasha), and they were allowed to run around in the breakfast room, which I know isn't to everyone's liking. Great coffee, cereal, yoghurt, bread, pastries and jams. Menilles is absolutely tiny, and we had to cycle into nearby Pacy-sur-Eure for any sign of life, food and drink. It's about 10 - 15 minutes by bike, less by car, so bear this in mind. There are no shops in Menilles, so you can't just walk to pick up supplies or dinner. It is beautifully quiet, as a result, so enjoy!
Cons: My only gripe would be that two of the three beds were incredibly soft and therefore I had an awful night's sleep, but the third bed (which I failed to test, damn it!) was hard and super comfy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room and bathroom. Beautiful garden, inner yard. Friendly host.

Guests have their own car park and garden. There is 3 independent rooms: THE GARDEN'S ROOM 80 euros/night, THE WOOD'S ROOM 75 euros/night, & THE LILAC'S ROOMLilac room 65 euros/night, all tax and breakfast includes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful country cottage amongst the trees. Breakfast was brought on a tray every morning by our hostess. Croissants, fresh baguettes, jams and marmalade with coffee and tea. Perfect. Weather was a bit unreliable so we spent more time in the cottage than in the picturesque garden. Good sized bedrooms and bathrooms.
Cons: Very minor. We have a large car. Getting through the entrance gate was a little awkward until we discovered that the best way was to pass the first, actual, entrance and turn round in the one 100 yards further up the hill. Then it was much easier.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location
Cons: Small kitchen/lounge
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was comfort at it's best.

Pros: Beautifully quiet. Clean. Hostess helpful and friendly
Cons: TV could have had sky as no English chanel for English news. Difficult to find the address even with sat nav. It was a hot week and a fan in room would have been a great help. Very few places to eat in the town in the evening.

Pros: Wasn’t expecting to be in a kind of lodge in the grounds but it was very nice in a lovely setting. Lovely restaurant but a little expensive.
Cons: It was the hottest day of the year and there was no air con or fan, so very uncomfortable for sleeping.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location was peaceful and lovely. Surroundings good. Didn’t have time to use spa or pool though they looked excellent. Our room was large and comfortable. Everything worked.
Cons: The breakfast has much room for improvement and was poorly managed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was good and so was the restaurant, evening meal and breakfast.
Cons: There was no wi-fi for our room and the pool was unavailable unless at a ridiculous price of 20 euros for two people.
6.8 Good
Pros: Restaurant was good, and the staff friendly
Cons: Too far out of town, and no bar in the restaurant.
7.5 Good
Pros: The cabin outside was lovely with a nice bathroom and mezzanine for the kids, which they loved. Very comfortable accommodation.
Cons: The weather was hot and the cabins were really warm at night so a fan would be useful. Part of the reason for booking this accommodation was so we could use the pool however on arrival we were told that children weren't allowed to use the pool facilities which was disappointing. The hotel is is the countryside but there is a bar and restaurant on site. It doesn't open until 7pm so make sure you bring snacks and drinks!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel, very spacious high quality room, good breakfast. Great value for money. Had an evening meal in the restaurant, food was superb. Great location for visiting Monet's Garden at Giverny and surrounding villages. Very peaceful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great from the location to the facilities. The staff were welcoming
Cons: There was a booking error. Hotel blamed Booking.com for overbooking their system. BUT, after a few heated words, a resolve was found which meant only changing rooms once. Breakfast was actually dreadful. Not quality of food but understaffed, no choice and very little service
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Checkout time could have been later.Nice place. We would have liked to stay another night but the hotel was fully booked.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location & accommodation where nice
Cons: Felt price in restaurant was quite high for what we got & breakfast was certainly not worth the money in my view
7.0 Good
Pros: Eating in the Pod. Very comfortable
Cons: Disinterested staff refused to acknowledge us and serve us drinks before restaurant opened even though we had told them we had had a difficult journey due to an accident in Rouen. Breakfast, appalling service we felt as though we were a nuisance. You would expect some service on the first morning. They ran out of juice yoghurt we had to ask for spoons and plates. We were charged 10€ to swim and extra to use jacuzzi & sauna which we did not realise from the booking. Total lack of service.
