10.0 Excellent
Pros: This beautiful little guesthouse was formerly a little supermarket, and has somehow managed to keep the lovely historic value while still ensuring their guests’ comfort. Lovely linen, and a breakfast with home baked orange cake and great coffee added to our lovely stay here. We did the Camino and enjoyed a rest day at this wonderfully located gem, which also boasts a great bakery just up the street. We’ll be back!
10.0 Excellent

Pros: I loved this place so much. The building itself is gorgeous. The owner has impeccable taste and has decorated the rooms with gorgeous antiques. The beds were also really comfortable. And the breakfast was delicious!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very pretty and spotless, with a beautiful view from the window. The location is excellent, in the center of the old town. The owner and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good and varied, taken in the dining room with lovely big windows from where you can see the square.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay exceeded our expectations. My mom and I arrived early on a rainy day, long before the check in time. Eva, the lovely "does it all" host, took us in and made us feel welcome. Since it was still early in the day, we asked her and Rodrigo (the friendly owner) where we could go for breakfast. Eva promptly pointed us to a table in their dinning hall and said we could eat there, as their yummy breakfast buffet was still out. After promptly bringing us fresh coffee, she then made it a priority to get our room ready so we wouldn't have to sit there and wait too long. We were able to check into our room by 11am. This is a family owned place, with a cozy atmosphere that is ran by people who really put love into what they do. The name comes from the building's previous purpose, as it was Rodrigo's father's 'mercearia' (sort of like an old-school family owned grocery store). They transformed it into an inn but he still honors his father's legacy through the decor and the old-school items and toys scattered around, which blend cozily with the atmosphere. It feels homy and Rodrigo and Eva made us feel as if we were family members arriving on a rainy day. When we checked out the next day, she didn't even want to charge us for the breakfast on the previous morning (which wasn't included), which was a really nice gesture. It wasn't about the money, but the kindness in making us feel welcome. The room was cozy and the hotel is conveniently located. But the customer service we encountered was unparalleled. Thank you Rodrigo and Eva!

Pros: What a find! A lovely, welcoming rural hotel steeped un tradition. The staff were all very friendly from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed one relaxing day near the pool, in fact we had the pool to ourselves for the day, and the other days touring around the area. We ate in 2 nights, there is no restaurant as such but they do offer a choice of meat/fish dishes and a 3 course meal served in the dining room or on the terrace if the weather is kind. Food was delicious especially the cod fish.We ate in Ponte de Lima the other night which was also enjoyable. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast very satisfying. It would be great to return one day!

Pros: This was a fabulous place to stay on our Camino. The staff very kindly waited for us (we were quite late!) and showed us to our rooms, which were perfect. In a very quiet location, this place is brilliant. Thank you!
Cons: Erm… The birds at 0500! First of all it was the cockerels crowing (not the fault of the property!) but then at 0600 the budgerigars started - lovely if you like bird call but there were lots of them right outside our room ;) BUT - a fab place to stay and would definitely go back there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we stepped foot on the property Carlos y Rosa Maria made us feel like we were one of the family. We arrived in Ponte de Lima on a Sunday afternoon after hiking 15 miles on the Camino de Santiago. While Carlos y Rosa Maria we’re hosting a family dinner downstairs they greeted us with open arms, showed us to our rooms and provided us with one of the best dinners we had on Camino. The room was comfortable and the private bath was oh so appreciated. The morning we left, the two of them saw us off with a hugs and kisses. Bom Caminho!
Cons: You have to be willing to go a little bit off the beaten path to find this gem of a place as it located a 1/3 mile further from the center of Ponte de Lima. But wait until you see the view this place provides being that it sits up higher than most residences.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was easy to locate and close to free riverside parking and the town center. It was sparkling clean and tastefully furnished in period style. My bedroom had lots of natural light. There was a well equipped shared reception/kitchen/dining space.
Cons: While the location was central I noticed a lot of early street noise which I think may have been due to refuse collection. I was there on at least one weekend night and there was street noise from a nearby pub in the early morning hours - not an issue if you're in the pub of course :) That wouldn't stop me booking again but it is a consideration.

Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Planning an event in Ponte de Lima? This hotel has facilities measuring 538 square feet (50 square meters), including a meeting room. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The facilities
Cons: The breakfast was bellow the expectations.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast offered a great variety and was beautifully presented on tiered silver trays and crystal vases. Dinner was delicious and the the wait staff was attentive, though the process of ordering ahead was presented a bit forcefully. I had a lovely massage, though it was a bit difficult to find the remote treatment room on my own. The grounds are beautiful.
Cons: Overall, not impressed. Receptionist extremely snobby, every request was treated like it was a huge inconvenience to help me. From telling me where the massage was, to inquiries about dinner, requesting a taxi, etc. Room was noisy - could hear toilets flushing, doors slamming, conversation in the next room. My room was not particularly clean, there were wet drops on the bathroom floor that came up yellow when wiped with a tissue, carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a while, there were peanuts and crumbs near the bed. Charging €4.50 for 750ml of water they filter onsite is not the best practice, especially when there is no price list available to notify you of charges. I left feeling a bit baffled why this hotel has won best in category awards, they have a lot of room for improvement if they want to be a luxury hotel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully designed, good breakfast, nice garden
Cons: Nothing I can think of
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was very accommodating and the dinner was good.
Cons: We have stayed in several Small Luxury Hotels of the World in our travels. This hotel just didn't meet the standard. The decor was kitschy and cluttered. The room was musty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the environment! It was aesthetically pleasing and exuded comfort! The staff is incredibly helpful and attentive!
6.7 Good
Pros: The room! So gorgeous, feels like we were in the jungle
Cons: The staff. They cant call it 5stars hotel with service like that. 1. The day we check in, i stepped on a broken glass, thank god i didnt fully step on it so my feet is fine, but that a proof they dont clean the room properly 2. We book for an outdoor picnic but because it has to be at 1pm or 2pm, we chose 1.30pm. The weather was 34celcius, we couldn’t continue so we bring out barely touch foods to our room, (which was only 8steps away) to enjoy it later. Then, one of the staff ask us to give back the basket ALSO all the food we have paid. 3. Very minimal activities they offer, and minimal information they give about the area.
6.3 Good
Pros: Relaxed environment. Breakfast is good and staff is friendly. The interior pool, though small, is nice and good for winter trips.
Cons: Really overpriced. It is a hotel by a national road with traffic. Small entrance, massive ramp to climb up to reception. The decoration is kitsch, cheesy, excessive. The room in underwhelming. The whole area planning seems off and strange and slightly too small and crowded. Oddly there is a small area with a lonely poney.

Cons: Not a big issue but the bathrooms in the apartment could do with an upgrade.

Pros: Amazing host, beautiful and historically interesting rooms, swimming pool, the view from the terrace.

Pros: Ricardo and Filipa were great. They were not only very friendly but also incredibly helpful. The romantic amenities were very good as well. We felt a much more personalised service that in most 5 stars hotels.
Cons: The pillows were not comfortable for me. But I didn’t say anything because I am too picky about it, therefore is not their fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location. Partially the staff who went out of his way to serve us a glass of wine. View from the room was outstanding. Saw the bridge and the town of ponte de Lima. Great breakfast and really large bathroom
Cons: Room was very small and dark with black walls.

Pros: Breakfast sufficient. Staff very friendly
Cons: Need better light in the bedroom. A bit dark.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Arc My Hotel has included room facilities across from their main site and we stayed here. We liked everything about our room. The staff were delightful. Positioned on the north side of the Bridge this is an ideal stopover for Camino Pilgrims, and we would have no hesitation recommending to Pilgrims and holidaymakers alike.
Cons: The only thing we would suggest they consider - and this is a constructive comment: The day we stayed there was a deluge. Umbrellas to get from the main hotel to our rooms would have been very welcome.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for walking the Camino. I stopped at the tourist information building which was close by, and they gave me a map and marked out the way. It is very close to the Camino route. The room was very clean and the facilities were excellent.
Cons: I could not figure out how to work the spa/ shower, so a few directions would be helpful. I finally did figure it out, after I had accidentally sprayed the rest of the bathroom. also, you need to call the owner so that he will be there when you arrive. The phone number on the outside of the building did not work, but I went to my booking.com reservation and clicked on that phone number there. He arrived within 10 or 15 minutes.
