the room and pool were very nice. clean, comfy, new, great sun loungers. if you want a lazy few days, we stayed for 4 nights its a good place, any longer we would of been really bored. they were helpful with bus timetable... although the local buses didnt run on time they still did run. the hotel was in a poor location, however we were aware of this - thanks to the reviews on the site.; nothing local to do or see, no where to go for a walk. hard to enjoy any food, i though the evening restaurant opening times of 8pm to 9pm were not adequate, and the food was overprices and not to a high standard, also breakfast was a dissapointment as the cake was stale , and we kept seeing it put on the buffet day after day.
The actual hotel surrounds are good and the facilities were fine. New plants were being planted when we stayed. Clean rooms, internet facilities, a nice pool (but unfortunately we did not get to use it as it shuts at 7pm). This hotel is completely out of the way if you do not have a car. You then need to solely rely on the public transport. Buses are infrequent (and unreliable - we were left waiting a good hour before a bus came along spoiling our days plans). Allow 20 minutes to reach the train station. We stayed here first week of June, but no restaurants were open on the street, so we were forced to utilise the hotel restaurant on the first night which was overpriced (but the service was good). The location of the hotel is a bit ho-hum: along a strip of high-way that has derelict housing (but not uncommon for south of Italy), overgrown fields, dilapidated shops, and just a feeling of neglect. I would only recommend the hotel if you have your own transport (relying on buses was a nuisance ie, you could not miss the 8:10pm bus from Concordia Place otherwise you were stuck in Salerno itself). We did not realise at the time of booking, and it was not until we sussed out the bus schedule (that we would have to wait for an hour or so before the next bus when we arrived in Salerno), but they can pick you up from the train station if you organise it prior to your arrival.
Very clean and well equiped rooms. All hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Only one resturant within walking distance (elderly parent with us) and the hotel resturant was closed, but we were staying out of season.
staff is very nice, food is good, room very nice and clean, pool clean, beach nice and clean. very good looking gardens. 10 Euros to used laundry room and Iron. the bad directions from booking web page to find the hotel, address was wrong. check the correct address in:www.hotelolimpico.it
Facilities were great and breakfast was very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We paid for a basic room, but we were upgraded, which was very kind. Nearby Salerno (15mins away) is a good place for eating out and it is generally very nice typical Italian city. Good value for money. Location is poor, but I think you won't be able to find any hotel of this standard on the Amalfi Coast or Salerno. Luckily we had a car, so it was a lot easier. I don't recommend it if you do not have a car. There are no interesting restaurants nearby hence we drove to Salerno each evening. Beach is quite dirty, but we haven't seen private hotel beach (we were not that bothered as weather wasn't good so we only went for a short walk).
friendly atmosphere Drinks a bit expensive
interier, brekfast, beach, garden
Front desk was great, got all the info got upgrade and always with a smile
Fantastic customer service
I liked about everything. It is a nice hotel. Enviromentally orienteted, clean and neat. no
We liked breakfast best. The buffet had a good variety and we were served fresh fruit beverages with our coffee. The staff at the wellness centre was unhelpful. The facilities were at a standard that we would expect at a three star hotel but not a four star.
Nice large room. Good breakfast. Inconvenient garage set-up, around back of hotel and paying in and out. The TV set was too complicated and no clear directions in the room as to how to operate. One of 2 TV's did not work properly.
Beautiful hotel in a lovely location, not far to walk for ferry or train station. Very good value for money compared to so many others.
bright room we asked by the internet booking an extra bed for our child, but the reception said their was enough place for the children (3) to sleep in a double bed. A little bit crowdy. We had selected the hotel because they had an indoor swimmingpool. But unfortunatly it was only open between 10-12.30 and 16.30-21.00. We would have liked swimming before breakfast or during the "siesta". Also it was rediculous that only 1 towel was given for the morning and the evening for the swimmingpool.
Good location( close to station and town) with lovely seaviews from good sized balcony. Comfortable chairs on balcony.Attractive spacious foyer. Large spacious rooms with good sized flat screen TV.Large bathroom and thick good sized towels.Staff pleasant and helpful. Rooms were stark with no extra comforts. No clock/ radio or little extras that you would expect from this category hotel. Large hanging space but few hangers(3) (requested more but never came) No drawer space. Bathroom large but no shelves or space for toliet bags!Tolietries were poor, (little plastic sachets of shampoo,no creams) so did not make you feel inclined to visit spa. Great views in foyer areas but breakfast room was at back with high windows so no view! Breakfast ok but certainly not gourmet!
The very well equiped rooms and the high quality of breakfast.
great location, and the hotel had lovely big, clean rooms. This hotel is not really aimed at tourists. Recpt staff couldn't really help with organising travels around the area. Seemed to have poor local knowledge. This meant that although the building was 4 star, the experience wasn't...
Modern clean hotel in very good location. Bar not staffed continuously during the evening. Gave up waiting at one point.
This is really just a business hotel which I would be happy to stay in if away on business - Not somewhere I would recommend for a vacation - Nothing really stood out as exceptional The hotel has an environmentally friendly policy which meant it was impossible to get the water any hotter than luke warm and if you wanted you room cleaned and towels changed you had to specifically request this The shower curtain was about 6 inches too short, which meant that the bathroom floor got soaked every time you had a shower
Very good breakfast, great location, big room and in a nice medium sized town.
Hotel has fantastic location across from train station and bus access. Also, on street with no autos and great shopping.
Close to everything; fantastic breakfast; nice view of piazza; large room and bathroom, large and comfortable bed; attractive and elegant decor; balcony, common area and wi-fi; lively and friendly atmosphere in area around the hotel The traffic noise from the buses and train station made it difficult to have the balcony doors open, but the view was lovely so it was worthwhile; strong smell of cigarette smoke in room next to us late at night and early in morning
It's centrally located to the Salerno train station and Salerno port to the amalfi coast. You use this hotel to simply drop off your luggage, sleep and showrrz Hotel wifi is non existent. The interior could use a new paint job and carpet. It's an older hotel. Don't expect luxury.
The proximity to the Railway Station and to the main street of Salerno and eating places.
Great location - very close to the train station and town center. Parking in the area is very expensive - take the train if possible
I've been to this hotel twice already. It's a good location to simply sleep and shower. Very basic but clean. Walking distance to port. The hotel needs to upgrade its wifi service. It's non existent. You can only pick up the signal in the lobby.
Friendly helpful staff, the convenient location as we were catching trains, room size was good. breakfast was not as good as other 3 star hotels we have stayed at, but adequate
Great location near train station and on pedestrian street. Close to car rental. Wif only in lobby.
Location was very convienient , rooms were clean, a little dated Desk clerk was not friendly or helpful at check in...but did not ruin our stay
Functional place within metres of the train station - worked well for us. Some of the furnishings are needlessly cheap (eg. plastic chairs, shower screens), but it works.
The convenience to the train station. Nothing. It met my needs.
Very good location, close to train/bus station, easy for reaching points of interest. Courteous staff. A little overpriced
friendly staff and very helpful.
breakfast!!! do you expect to make your own bed in a 4 star hotel and have to go to reception 4 times to get sheets, towels, glasses because the phone didn't freaking work!!!!
good free parking, rooms made clean daily 1) jacuzzi is not a whirpol but just an upgraded tub --> only suitable for 1 person; 2) very far from the centre --> car necessary at all times; 3) booking.com says satellite TV, but no international TV channels (BBC, TVE, CNN,..) are available, only italian channels available and pay films; 4) from half sept approx. the beach and swimming pool close to the hotel (both pay) are closed; 5) breakfast was one of the poorest we experienced in our trip through Italy (bacon and omelete always cold and tasteless), especially when you consider that it's a 4-star hotel; 6) bike rental, as booking.com offers, is not possible at the hotel
The hotel accepts pets and has on site parking both of which are free of charge. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is a bit away from the city center so it's better for those traveling with a car..
Pretty nice hotel. Beautiful. Not far from the sea. Rooms with balcony are very nice and spacious. We were at a special price and satisfied. Rooms are very different. Those that with balcony, very nice and spacious. But there are very small ones. Beach near the hotel costs 10 euros per person and is open only until 18.00. Free beach is two kilometers from the hotel.
hotel not 4 stars
Location, price, friendliness of staff. Even rebooked for my return trip.
only the size of the room, only one member of the team of the hotel, who is working in the restaurant. The restaurant (outside) was very nice. Tis is the only part of the hotel where you feel like you in a four star hotel. the elevators and the floor are more than dirty!!!!!
The hotel staff was very service minded, helpfull and friendly. The restaurant food was tasty. The bed in our junior suite was way too hard. It almost felt like sleeping on a wooden plank. Because of this I woke up several times at night, and it was not good for my neck and back (I'm 26 years old). The location as OK, but we had to take a 20 min taxi ride to the city every night.
This was our most relaxing stay during more than three weeks' travel around Italy. The setting was lovely after many inner-city stays. Staff in the restaurant were especially good. Needs new carpets, a trivial point for an otherwise pleasant ambience.
great room, very pleasant, friendly, helpful staff. Location easy to find from A3. restaurant menu poor choice, poor quality.
the best fish ever eaten!
After a long journey, the receptionist was very helpfull, his english was good enough to be able to communicate with
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bus stop was just outside the hotel. The room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was varied. Very good value for money. Would stay at Hotel Carosello again. Excellent!
The cleanliness of the room and the location to visit Amalfi, Pompei and Naples. The breakfast is poor.
Access to the station and bus stops. On site parking. General location shower cubical was a touch to small and the sliding doors were coming apart. Draws were lacking and the side cabinets were usefill for nothing. The light switches were too low, about 1200mm above the ground.
Friendly staff and very big room.
Easy access from highway, free wifi
The ambiance, the city, the people
The town itself did not have any restaurants other than the odd pizza takeaway.
Staff was nice and helpful. Bathroom was dirty.
That hotel is near to the motorway - it is a good place to sleep when You drive on that motorway (I did so). The rooms were clean. The room was small (I took quadruple room and it was in fact a twin room with two added beds). The breakfast was very poor - one of the poorest that I ate in Italy.
Hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Installations very clean and confortabñe. Excellent quality/price relationship. I recommend this hotel to go with the family
The private functions hosted by the hotel made us guests feel as though we were imposing on their business instead of being made to feel welcome.
They had a nice patio to sit on - but we were not allowed to because it was closed. The view was beautiful, but we did not have our on balcony to sit on to enjoy It's location was about 10 km outside of the nice area of Salerno. The neighborhood was terrible, dirty, with a lot of litter and scary people wandering around. No place to eat close by.
Noisy, inattentive wait staff, I will not stay at this hotel ever again.
Its a very nice Hotel for summer vacations, nice view, very comfortable rooms, on the beach, some small restaurants nearby, parking. Far from the city centre. If you go by car you will have a large problem of parking to the city centre, if you dont have a car you cannot go on foot, either by taxi (too expensive) but you can use the buses. If you dont care about the city centre it is the best Hotel.
I'm annoyed by street noise through window. even though when the window closed.
located sea side. Great sea view from rooms. included breakfast buffet wasnt very impressive Location is pretty far from salerno centre.
The room was large and very neat and clean. We struggled to locate the hotel.
The hotel itself was clean and seemed to have reasonable facilities. Private parking a big thumbs up. Staff - unfortunately we spoke to a receptionist who seemed to know nothing about the town! It is also far out from the lively centre though apparently close to the train station
We absolutely loved the hotel, the staff and the family (including the animals). The only thing that could improve the rooms would be a kettle and tray of coffee/tea facilities.
The friendliness of the staff and the location of the hotel. Of course the restaurant is an excellent one. I highly recommend it. It is not suitable for winter stay. The room was heated by air condition which was insufficient.
Visiting Vesuvious and exploring the local area by bike. There was a fantastic, fun and cheap family restaraunt close by called Masseria Della Fontana Vecchia Di Mazza near San Cipriano Picentino. There is no indoor pool, the spa cost €60 per day extra and it was really difficult to find the hotel.
Villa Rizzo was perfect - friendly staff, beautiful location, and great accommodations. Drinking a bottle of wine (from the estate!) on a terrace by the pool, overlooking the valley, was one of the highlights of our 2 week trip. Nothing!
Nice villa, nice staff, nice owner
Nice and quiet environment. Good service, ample rooms and nice decor outside the city.
What I liked about the Hotel was the location and the scenery, very relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and pleasant.
Great room and very nice surroundings--good pool and good breakfast. The front desk staff were average at best--not very welcoming or nice.
I have stayed at the Hotel San Luca for buisness in the past. This time I was on vacation with my family. I found the staff to be as friendly and helpful as I could wish them to be. Great value, thank you!
