Pros: We loved our week long stay! Sure there are fancy expensive resorts, but honestly this place is the best. Funky and retro on the outside (easy to spot orange roof), but the room was spacious, clean, and the staff (family owned) we so kind and accommodating. The location is absolutely perfect too! We highly recommend the Port Douglas Motel!

Pros: The girl at check in was so helpful! It was over Christmas week so stores would be closed so she gave us the information so we didn’t starve over Christmas. I’m general very nice facilities- pools ; BBQ; tennis court well kept. Port Douglas is a charming place ! Would stay there again!!

Pros: We stayed for a whole week and were upgraded to a beautiful garden two bedroom apartment. The resort is situated in the centre of Port Douglas and near the beach. It is extremely quiet and clean and no noise from other guests. The apartment had excellent facilities and a lovely kitchen with all that we needed for our stay. We loved the coffee machine for espresso and the friendliness of the staff at the reception. We appreciated the service and how our apartment was prepared ready for us with suitable air con temperature and all fans switched on as the weather outside was very hot when we arrived in the evening. The staff booked our trips and helped us with lots of suggestions. We will be visiting again the Mandalay Resort!

Cons: Nothing luxury about it and not 5* at all. Found black hairs in the bathroom. Airflow wasn’t great, smaller room was freezing and master bedroom was warm - had to use fan. Currently staying in a slightly cheaper apartment in Airlie beach, it’s rated 4* and deserves everything cent.

Cons: Internet wifi does not reach the rooms, and my bungalow was one of the first in the row of bungalows lead away from the pool area , which is the only area with wifi coverage (router on other side of pool from bungalows) - totally not ideal if you need to do some work while on holiday. Also, the resort used to market and cater to GLBT guests - this is not the case anymore. Quite disappointing that it was not clearer on the website (the change recently happened when the property was sold).

Our room was updated, recently painted, new blinds, new couch. The room was spacious and the balcony was massive. The room was suitable for young kids, as it didn't contain furniture/items that the kids might break. Jason was lovely and extremely helpful. He was quick to fix any problem we had, for example a blocked pipe.

I connected with him the next morning and he was very friendly and provided some good local information. Place was clean. Had washer and dryer that came in handy. Internet was not working well so they did not charge us for it which was nice. I reported the bedroom blind upstairs and some light bulbs throughout were not working but they were repaired quickly.

Cons: Did not like being charged for some things that should have come with the unit. We were there for three nights but they only had dish detergent for two but wanted to charge us for any more. Cons: Property could do with a facelift, pool and pool area dated and need of repairs, a fresh paint to brighten corridors which are dark. Our apartment was good but needs some internal work with noisy ceiling fan in bedroom.

Large outdoor tables with shade umbrellas and a well equipped clean BBQ. The apartment met our expectations. The kitchen had everything needed to dine in. Large smart TV's in lounge and main bedroom to unwind to after a busy day out. All beds were very comfortable . Loved the large lounge to accommodate our family. The apartment was very clean and no nasty odours. Managers very friendly and approachable.

Full size kitchen, dishwasher, washer, drier etc. Very comfortable and large kitchen diner. Right out front of the gorgeous pool.great BBQ facilities available. A little bar would be nice as a social focus. Only draw back was that there was substantial building work be carried out immediately adjacent to the apt’s. Full on building site. Noise was minimal and we were out all day but it was a bit of an eye sore to look at and this info wasn’t available at booking or made available at any time up to arrival.

Pros: The apartment was central, short walking distance to main street, marina and to the beach. Pool facility was superb with plenty of room and sun lounges for guest . Large outdoor tables with shade umbrellas and a well equipped clean BBQ. The apartment met our expectations. The kitchen had everything needed to dine in. Large smart TV's in lounge and main bedroom to unwind to after a busy day out. All beds were very comfortable . Loved the large lounge to accommodate our family. The apartment was very clean and no nasty odours. Managers very friendly and approachable.
Cons: Cleaners need to take particular attention to mould around shower door and on the bottom of shower curtain. Wasn't much but was visible.

Pros: Friendly and relaxed owners. Apt had everything we could have wanted for A self catered extended stay. Full size kitchen, dishwasher, washer, drier etc. Very comfortable and large kitchen diner. Right out front of the gorgeous pool.great BBQ facilities available. A little bar would be nice as a social focus. Only draw back was that there was substantial building work be carried out immediately adjacent to the apt’s. Full on building site. Noise was minimal and we were out all day but it was a bit of an eye sore to look at and this info wasn’t available at booking or made available at any time up to arrival.
Cons: No adjacent building work. As it was low season. Everywhere started to shut down at around 10pm giving the town a ghost like feeling.

Cons: In the heart of one of the most sensitive ecosystems in the world, it would have been nice to see more sustainable choices for soaps and detergents supplied by the hotel. It's a small thing but has a huge impact by setting an important example.

Cons: Probably starting to get a little tired. It wasn't an issue for us but lots of stairs and no lifts if you were older or had mobility issues. There were some ramps though. It was good value for money at that time of year though.

Cons: We had two bedrooms but they weren't well separated for noise as the doors had slats. Some other units didn't have this so consider checking when booking if that's important to you. We were charged a credit card fee that wasn't disclosed on booking so that was a bit annoying, but the positives of the experience made up for it.

Cons: TV are really old and terrible quality. Spending a week there with a 1 year old meant we would be watching TV mostly in the evenings. I think for a 5 start place they should have better Tvs We were originally on the second floor, then paid extra to move to the lower Floor with pool access. There were lots of plants and bushes surrounding the lower floor Bala omg which attracted more mosquitos- this was annoying as couldn’t use the Balcony to sit outside as we would be bitten to death. Access to the pool was better but couldn’t use balcony to sit and eat dinner etc...it’s a trade off I guess. Happy hour never included cocktails only beer and house wine. Gym is extremely small!

Cons: management are not easy to deal with and refused to provide basic provisions like spray cleaner for benches, more than 1 tea towel, and adequate toilet paper and dish washing liquid for a 1 week stay. They do not clean the apartment doing the stay and they claimed that they don't provide those basic cleaning products in order to keep the costs down, however for a mere $10 they could have provided those things which would have made our stay more enjoyable and relaxing. No one wants to go shopping for cleaning products on their holiday.

Loved happy hour at the Lagoon Bar and bookings for tours at the front desk were made with ease. Beautifully designed pool and only a short walk to the beach. Will definitely stay here again. Staff allways had a welcoming smile when you approached them and are very down to earth and friendly. Cannot fault anything. Thankyou for a lovely experience at your beautiful resort.

Cons: Ac didn't work in 2 rooms then couldn't contact anyone. I also had my 5 month old son with me who was hot and wouldn't settle. Finally contacted someone and Moved rooms at 9:30pm. Got late check out and we were then locked out of our room b4 we were due to leave. The place is also a bit run down. Not worth the money we paid and won't stay again

Cons: Not the cleanest of properties. Shower was mouldy and we had to remove a large hair ball from the shower drain. Not enough hand towels or face washers. Spa was not inviting. Bed uncomfortable.
