Pros: The area of Calibishie is one of the best of Dominica. Jacoway Inn is easy to find thanks to the signs on roads, near the village (walking distance half a mile) where shops and restaurants are. The chocolate factory and beaches are at walking distance. The studio apartment had all facilities to satisfy our needs (stove, fridge, fans, mosquito nets...), nicely decorated with a sea view. The room was bright, modern, airy, well built, and with wifi. Carol Ann is the best host we've met, friendly, helpful and bubbly. The breakfasts are always different and amazing! Home fresh bread, sweet cakes... Carol Ann caters to all needs with excellence. Thank you Carol Ann for your kindness and generosity, we were so sad to leave. Your place has high standards yet very good value. It was lovely meeting you. We won't forget you ❤. We all loved your welcome, as well as Wags'.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just loveley!! But we were especially impressed by the incredibly welcoming and warm-hearted Carol ( and Niguel ). From the first second on we fell in love with this beautiful island thanks to them. Not to speak of the over the moon breakfast of course. We hope to return one day and wish all the islanders much strength during this hard time.
Cons: That at the end we had to leave....

Cons: I loved everything
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This property is a beautiful colourful place to stay. On the upper floor of the guesthouse you have a fabulous room and open terrace with a sun deck overlooking the ocean. It is very clean and comfortable, complete with fridge, kitchenette and kettle, everything you could need is provided. Hot water is via a clever solar bag shower system, although running water for a cooler shower is available and very refreshing. There are little supermarkets, a bar and restaurant within walking distance. Hermaine is a wonderful hostess and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. A lovely breakfast was also provided.
Cons: There is no beach here, only a little sand garden with no access to the ocean. It does have wonderful views from the verandas (hence it's nsme). Due to hurricane damage the town has no wifi/telephone line facilities, therefore a mobile data package is essential if you need to communicate with the outside world and you need to have cash as no ATMs/credit card facilities are currently working.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location. Good breakfast.
Cons: A few mosquitoes but understandable post hurricane
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host Hermien was totally awesome, a gem of a lady who went out of her way to cater for us (we are vegan) and provide such a relaxed and comfortable stay. Listening to the sea constantly was a treat of note.
Cons: Nothing negative at all
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly host, great views, central location, nice atmosphere.
Cons: Not much, maybe the small fridge too warm to make icecubes. No good was the tourguide Wendy offered for a day tour (just an expensive driver, no guiding).

4.5 Okay
Pros: The room was large and comfortable. The food was terrible. Unfortunately due to the hurricane the hotel looks like a building site. I would recommend tidying up the entrance at the side of the hotel as it looks like a mess. I was not happy with the greeting received as I booked for 2 adults and 2 children and the worker was surprised we had children with us and she didn’t make the sofa bed. It felt like we inconvenience her. We were famished and ordered lunch we soon regretted it. It was expensive and not enjoyable. The kids enjoyed the pool but it looks like a building site and there are health and safety issues such as the railings are not suitable for children and if not closely supervised, could easily result in an accident. The lady that was cleaning the pool was lovely. Breakfast was just as bad a lunch. Ordered a white coffee, 10 minutes later, the lady returned with a black coffee, no explanation. I understand it’s a business rebuilding after the hurricane and I am not purposely being harsh. I recommend improvement on customer service, food and a leaflet alerting customer the to continual changes to the hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The property is in a nice location up on the hill quiet the room and the bathroom is spacious a lot of local art and furniture was locally made I like the fact that they provided the guest with a cell phone to keep in contact whenever they left the hotel which is a very thoughtful service that they provide and there is a beautiful view of the ocean
Cons: In all honesty the only thing I didn’t like about the hotel was at that moment the bathroom was not cleaned to it’s best because the bathroom smelled like urine when I walked in I went and buy my own cleaning products and try to clean it up of course I wasn’t able to do the best because I didn’t have a mop but the following day I requested that it be mopped properly and that help
8.8 Excellent
Pros: What makes the Champs great is the people. A small place where the owners / managers / staff all know their guests and as such can offer tailored advice and make necessary arrangements to make for an enjoyable stay.
Cons: Pros + Staff / People + Ability to assist organising airport pickups / island tours. It felt like they could cater to any type of traveller. +Facilities : WiFi / pool / transport Cons - Portsmouth itself is 1hr or so away from Roseau by local bus . A lot of the tours / other attractions have transport leaving from Roseau so other arrangements might need to be made. However this makes the north coast / airport more accessible. Location did not limit our exploration of the island and if you were to rent a car you’d have no issues whatsoever.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service from start to finish! I requested an airport pick up and one of the owners was waiting for me at the airport, complete with a welcome drink for the journey to the hotel. The owners, Lise and Hans have been here for over 10 years and have a great love for Dominica. Although they, like many hoteliers, are rebuilding after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, the Hotel is clean, functional, complete with a pool, and the staff get to know you quickly and have your breakfast preferences waiting for you. The hotel has an amazing vista, all you need to do is step on to your personal balcony, and you can see Fort Shirley, the Cabrits, with the Saints and Guadeloupe in the background. The hotel has great connections to local tour operators, who really know the island inside out. As my first stop on Dominica, it was a great introduction to the island, and i would definitely stay there again! The room itself was clean, with a fan, safe and AC. The room was cleaned daily and anything needed is provided upon request.
Cons: There wasn't anything really. Just as a side note, the rebuilding works, don't interfere with your stay and are on one side of the building, but are audible after 10 am. Visitors need to bear in mind that nearlt all establishments on the island are rebuilding whilst welcoming tourists back. This is actually happening quite rapidly at The Champs, so by the time you get there, they will have completed a lot of it.
8.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly and helpful staff, pool, diner excellent
Cons: Nothing really apart from the front which doesn’t look like a hotel, breakfast : more choice would be appreciated :)

Cons: I liked it all
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice bathroom, friendly staff. Close to airport
Cons: Room a bit simple, not possible to eat as we didn't ask earlier.
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner acted friendly. The facility is located in a calm environment. Easy to reach. Close to the airport.
Cons: We had a budget room. The room was quite dark with bit stale air and with ants (even in bed). The fridge was really stinky and impossible to use. The prices in the facility (food/drinks) are rather high compared to the rest of the island.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were superb, i was even given some free food with a couple of beers in the bar. There are local shops nearby but be careful they close early !
Cons: The room was advertised as having TV, fridge and AC, none of which my room had ! Take a torch for the short uphill climb, there is no road lighting.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room is large and clean. The staff are very helpful - Elvin in particular was excellent, and gave me lots of advice. He knows his whiskies! There is very effective air conditioning and hot water (but you may have to wait a bit for it to come through). The location is very handy for the airport (but main attractions are further away). The hotel has a simple bar, and there is also one over the road (2 mins walk) where I was tolerated, but didn't feel particularly welcome!
Cons: A couple of bottles of water and a glass would be useful things too provide. Otherwise, I liked it all.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A lovely hotel, pretty garden and pleasant room.
Cons: Would have been good to have a menu with prices.

Pros: Everything! The staff: Nigel, Paula, Cai, Shanaia, and Andres treated us like family, helping us every step of the way. Nigel is one of the best chefs you could ever imagine...I absolutely enjoyed the meals he prepared for us ...He deserves 5 Stars for every delicious, nutritious dinner, and for being always caring/sharing, extremely knowledgeable, an expert professional! Paula is such a special, beautiful lady managing to create the most amazing best trips for us, and blessing us! Cai, Shanaia, and Andres also blessed us with their kindness, and always looking out for us... We loved staying for our 2 week stay at this incredibley gorgeous, green/flower and fruit filled place...the gardens are a true joy, and reflect the lush beauty that Dominica is...swimming in the Paguan river was one of our favorites any time of the day...and we lived the loyal doggies...missing our sweet Lady.... Will come again...will recommend to anyone...Bless Up!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, Nature (like living in the garden) all around us! Dinners tasty, assistance of staff, dogs, pick up/drop of at the ferry (fee)
Cons: breakfasts could be improved, pooooor wifi,
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The spring behind the hotel is very clean, we can swim very comfortably.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location was great, just across the street from the river. The area is surrounded by locals. The staff make the place feel very welcoming and give it a feeling of community.
Cons: The room was unfortunately rather dark because of how the windows are built. We did not have a fridge, a container for food (to protect against insects and other animals) or any food storage opportunities. since there are no restaurants in the area (or dominica as a whole) this meant that we couldn't store or cook our own food and ended up eating at the inn every evening. The food was good, but there was no real choice and it was not cheap. We also had a few problems with insects as well, we had a rash after the first night there. You cannot really complain about insects and animals in Dominica, however this was the only place where some kind of bug attacked us at night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is really amazing! They helped me with everything. I didn’t have boots to hike and they gave me a pair! Honestly it was a great staying in Dominica, in the middle of the nature! WiFi wasn’t working but it’s cause the hurricane and the condition of the electricity in the island! In general I recommend it to everyone: it’s like to be at home! :)
4.3 Okay
Pros: People are very nice. There's a river with natural pool on the other side of the road (although not very well indicated and arranged). The garden is nice.
Cons: No Air Con, lot of insects, no food for lunch, no wifi in the rooms (and very slow at reception), rooms and furnitures are quite old. There's nothing around, no restaurants, no shop.

7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was clean. I do believe that I'll come again.
Cons: The power went out for quite some time in our room, it took some time to come back on which I understand is not the fault of the employees.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff great Bar staff fantastic
Cons: Bigger beds needed
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food in the restaurant. Peace and quiet. views of the sea from the property
Cons: it lived up to being a 3 star hotel. you need a cr or take ataxi to get around as expected
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: I loved the area. The room was small but comfortable. The property was beautiful, clean and quiet.
Cons: Where do I begin...it was my birthday weekend So my bf and i decided to spend the night at a hotel..upon check in, i didn't received a complimentary drink, nothing. i was informed that the room was $38 more than the price which was shown on bookings.com, since taxes had not been included. Fine.. I attempted to pay using my ATM card. The paper which came out from the ATM Machine kept saying "Connection error" or what ever. After several trials, to no avail i decided to just pay in cash. I asked about the Television. I was told that there were no flat screen or smart tv's in the room(They had the big box tv's which were presently not functional) and also that they will try to upgrade to one as soon as possible. My bf and I held our Amazon fire stick, hoping to enjoy a movie night. Another disappointment. We we taken to our rooms. We tried putting on the A/C. The remote wasn't working! I called front desk. They sent a technician but i swear he had no idea what to do. He went out to get new batteries, by the time he came back it was on. It was a good thing my bf is an A/c Technician so he used some app on his phone to turn it on. It seemed to have a problem because the air wasn't as cool as it's supposed to be. sigh..It was already late so we went out to buy some food in Portsmouth, returned to the hotel, ate and went straight to bed. The next day, we were tired and lazy so we decided to request room service for breakfast. We called front desk. No one answered. After calling several times and no one answered, i decided to go downstairs to find out what was happening. i met the young lady who was supposed to be at the front desk at someone else's desk having a conversation. When she saw me, she came up to me and asked who i was looking for. So, i explained to her that i had been calling front desk for almost half an hour now and didn't get through. I asked her what would have happened if i was sick or dying up there.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location in Portsmouth was good!
Cons: Pictures show hotel before the hurricane, unfortunately not everything has been rebuild yet
8.3 Excellent
Pros: First of all, Dominica is still recovering from the hurricane Maria, so is the hotel. Photos on booking.com are from previous years. Most of the facilities are restored, but some are still to go (like the pier), but it is not a major problem. The hotel is virtually next to the beach. As there were very few guests in the hotel during my stay, it was almost a private beach. There is a very good restaurant named "Le Flambeau" next to the hotel and cottages, open almost the entire day (breakfast is also served there). Prices are affordable and meals are tasty. There were a microwave and spacious fridge (important to put your bottled water to keep it cold) which are useful. Grocery shops as well as an ATM are present just across the street. Parking is spacious and free of charge. Staff is very friendly and helpful, they give advise and help you organizing your activities (I took the trip to Indian River). Airport DOM (Melville Hall) is 50-55 min drive, capital Roseau is around 1h.
Cons: Due to the catastrophic hurricane in 2017, there are still some minor issues like there was no shampoo in the room and occasional power disruptions, but the staff was very friendly and offered me another room. Price is not too high, however should be a bit lower to align it with other accommodations in Dominica.
6.2 Good
Pros: Refrigerator, pretty grounds, sunsets at your toe tips. Close to the shanties at Ross U; great food and conversation there. Staff fantastic. Plenty of hot water. WIFI worked great.
Cons: No fan, no flow thru air so had to use AC. Beach has debris that should be cleaned up, The "snorkel" at the reef jetty is a wreck...can't use the jetty at all. No swimming pool; looks like there is one in same advertising that tells you about jetty and snorkeling that doesn't really excist. Hall way lights keep room light all night. Sign for road to hotel is one block off and leads to dead end.
7.5 Good
Pros: The place is comfortable. Would stay there again if visiting someone in Portsmouth
Cons: All rooms need an iron and ironing board. This should be standard for all hotels
5.8 Okay
Pros: The bed was really comfortable and there were fair space in the room. Also you can enjoy a great view of the beach.
Cons: There were no hot water in the bathroom. We tried to get a good excursion but the deals proposed by the hotel were so expensive and everything was a bit confusing (no catalogues or written information). In the end the restaurant of the hotel, despite the great location, was poor quality and really high prices, and payment by card was not available.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is now working better with more dishes, happy to see that they managed to overtake the difficulties caused by last year's hurricane. Good wi-fi and air conditioning. Decent room. You pay what you get.
Cons: Needs upgrading in the toilets.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Friendliness of the people, Welcoming Dominica... They are perhaps not the most skilled, but oh, man, they try their utmost and really, really go the extra mile and smile! Resto on premises is a separate owner (no credit card or booking on room), but definitely one of the best in the neighborhood!
Cons: Level of comfort is way below website pictures. rooms are noisy, shower was cold, fridge did not work and had a terrible smell, room was not serviced, reception opened late on a public holiday, light in the hallway shining directly in the room; no television (is no problem, but then simply remove the dangling connection cable, no?).
