This was the worst rental experience we have ever had. The vehicle we were given was not large enough for 6 adults, a child and numerous pieces of luggage. Child car seats were sub-standard. Quite frankly, it was a rip off. We will never use Payless again as a result, and will be sure to share our experience on social media to warn others.

The vans were perfect and affordable for our large party. They accommodated both our people and our luggage., and the drove. The rentals were a little worn but we were on island where everything is imported , so they don’t just have new shipments of cars hanging around. The rental was affordable , however the credit car hold cost more than the car. They did disclose this information so it wasn’t a surprise. The staff was patient, pleasant and weren’t pushy. The rental location was right down the street from the airport so it was ideal for returning. When returning, give yourself a little extra time for them to process your paperwork and get you back to the airport. Remember you’re on a relaxing island, no one is in a rush.

I could have been given the size vehicle I rented. Instead I was given a size smaller and the car would not fit all the passengers and luggage. This place was quite unprofessional and I will never rent here again and I will and have been telling everyone else how terrible Payless car rentals is.

The hatchback wouldn't stay up so packing the car was a pain. Also, the seatbelt release would stick and not latch on both front seats.

Cons:

The original booking was for a car rental on site with no shuttle but had to take a shuttle after waiting very long to get to counter.

Slow service when picking up and dropping off the vehicle. It seemed the employees were not trained or unable to know how to handle simple tasks to complete the necessary paperwork and make the process simple and concise.

The only negative would be the pick up/ drop off system they have. Its all manually done, lots of paperwork. Not a problem when there are not many customers, but really a pain when the there is a line out the door of people waiting to pick up or return. Automation would be awesome! Otherwise the folks were friendly and helpful.

We reserved a 6 passenger vehicle. We were given a 5 passenger vehicle TWICE! The experience was over an hour and more than $400 USD. Avis wouldn’t honour the price and blamed it all on who we booked through. This is terrible. A contract is a contract, no? We want the difference back.

1) They are NOT on-site at the airport - you have to take 3 minute van-ride out to the avis car rental center. Not a big deal, but if you are expecting a curbside pickup of your rental car, you will not get it. 2) They move REALLY slow at the front desk to get your pre-paid, pre-booked car ready. We waited for 40 minutes, for what i've got done in 7 minutes in other Avis centers 3) The Car was rather worn out, and beat up, and was not worth the COST we paid for it.

We had a reservation at 4 p.m. for a rental car at the airport of providenciales the plane landed at 15.15 but the post-landing checks continued until 4.45 p.m. Leaving the airport around 4.50 p.m. No one was at the desk at avis. No notice, no message, no email, no one was interested in our book

The car was decent but something rattled in the back the entire time. I believe it was the spare tire equipment.

Our quote from kayak was less than what hertz charged us on the spot in Providenciales. Even though we had a confirmation showing the correct price, hertz did not honor this. The agent at the Hertz counter was also very rude and unwilling to help us reconcile the charges. Overall, will not use Hertz again.

Pros:

I specifically reserved a one way rental from the airport to the grace bay road location which shows up as a PO Box on the kayak reservation. However Hertz tried to force me to return it to the airport stating they do not take returns at that location which is BS IMHO since I was allowed to reserve it that what. The were going to charge me a few to leave it there which I insisted was unauthorized and I would contest it with my credit card before I walked out very upset on my vacatiion. They finally decided not to charge the fee after I called later but I will never rent from Hertz again. What a mess!

Absolutely appalling. Several emails from budget saying we will be met at the airport when we landed at 5:30 p.m. In fact we arrived early, but by 6:30 p.m. nobody was there to meet us. A local kindly telephone the budget emergency to be told the office is closed and even if it was an emergency nothing could be done until the following day. Called a taxi to our destination and the following day went into the office to be told it closes at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and the closing time and the emails we received were all wrong. Very surly, totally disinterested member of staff who obviously thought it was unreasonable of me to complain. The car they gave me was very old, rundown and I would say registered in the 1990s. It broke down on the second day and I had to wait several hours for a replacement. I am a RapidRes member, and if they treat me like this, how on earth do they treat a normal member of the public? I recommend booking with a different company

When I dropped off my car to the local budget office I was shocked to see that my bill was almost $40 higher then the quote I received online. I showed the agent a printout of the original quote. That didn’t help so as a result I will never do business with Budget again.

Pros:

The staff was friendly and the pick up was relatively easy. The car was old and worn but I expected that as this is a budget rental. There was no one there for the drop off and I had to just park the car and drop the key. They charged me an additional $25 for something but I can not find out what it was. No answer on their phone. The car also had a loose battery cable and it would not start at least a 1/2 dozen times until I opened the hood and reconnected it. I had no way to tighten it so it continued throughout the rental period

Almost everything could have been better. Unless you are handy and happy with a beater car rent somewhere else.
