Pros: The fine print in contract
Cons: On return I was charged $13.99 more than the Kayak price. When questioned, the customer representative was very rude, Apart from rudeness I saw two issues. One, the fine print in the contract and reasoning behind such an unfair practice. The contract stated a "mileage" surcharge will be added if the car is not return with full tank if the miles driven in less than 75 miles. I have made sure the tank is filled up a few miles before drop off. The terms were not clear and did not appear in the terms when I signed up through Kayak. Two, the mistrust of Budget. Three rudeness has no place in dealing with customers even if the customer is upset.

Pros: Great car for a full size although the engine was lacking in power.
Cons: When arriving from the terminal there were 10 people waiting in line and only two people there to process the rentals. One renter had a problem so everyone had to wait entirely too long.
At return, there were cars everywhere and it wasn't clear where to drop the car. Finally someone came over to help but it was very confusing.
Change engine oil light was on.

Budget airport shuttle
Cons: Upon arriving at Philadelphia International airport I waited outside bag claim for 40 minutes and no budget shuttle came around tp pick us up to take us to the rental car center. Finally one budget car renter like myself asked the Avis bus driver if he could give us a ride. He did and dropped us off close to budget where we had to walk over to finally get our car. Upon entering Budget to sign the paperwork, I found long lines. Was not a pleasant experience!

Pros: The price offered was excellant.
Cons: Budget places a hold of $200 on a card even though my rental was for $34.
If using a debit card Budget runs a credit check using Equifax. This agency is the most subjective and unfair of the lot! I have $8000 in my checking and a credit rating of over 700 by all the other agencies but Equifax. Budget was unable to rent me a car as I no longer use credit cards, only debit. I was stranded at the PHL airport for 4 hours trying to get another rental car for under $250 for my one way oneday rental. I ended up renting from Enterprise for 3 times the rate but Great service with no problem with my cards or credit rating. Enterprise will gett my business from now on! Budget, not so much.

Pros: We received a clean economy car with working air conditioning and rear backup camera that had map interface with my iPhone. It was quick and easy to get and return the car. Having a rental car really made a positive difference on our trip.

Exactly what was ordered
Pros: The Mustang convertible was a 2015 model. Had been wanting to test one. It was perfect. Couldn't have asked for more.
Cons: The car was not as clean as we would have liked. Actually stopped at a car wash to get the windows and exterior really cleaned.

The best customer service!
Pros: Staff member gave me free upgrade in the lot. Four days later when I returned the car, another staff member discovered my prescription sunglasses in the car and rushed to return them to me. Service at the counter was excellent, too. The same man who efficiently processed me on my arrival was washing the lobby floor on the day I returned. A remarkable and memorable experience all around.

Cons: I arrived at my destination on time for a meeting to be told by Alamo that I was placed on a do not rent list! I was baffled and asked why would wait until I was at the counter to tell me that. Obviously, I was unaware. I spoke to customer service and they could do nothing for that night! A week later I received a phone and email telling me my name was being removed because they had no idea why my name was on a do not rent list. By the way Enterprise owns National and Alamo. They all blow and I have moved to Hertz.

Felt like a scam
Pros: The manager and staff on duty went outside the rules Hertz to get us a car for the price Kayak had booked for us.
Cons: The pickup address was the Philadelphia train station, and we were at the airport. When I called Hertz company I was told that I'd need a new reservation through them, which was more than twice what we would have paid had we been at the train station. We had no idea how to get to the train station. We were told that the hertz office there was closed for the night, but if we could be there at 7:00 in the morning, we would be able to pick up the car before our reservation was cancelled. It really felt like we were being extorted, because Hertz would not simply change the address.

Kayak Reservation denied at Hertz location in PHL
Cons: Hertz left me stranded in their PHL airport office. My reservation was DENIED because my two credit cards that I use all the time were not considered credit cards. The first card I used there was the card I used on the Kayak web site.
They recommended a nearby competitor. SO I walked with all my suitcases and bags on wet, snowy, sidewalk-less, cold, dark streets to "National" who accommodated me on-demand for 1) a lower price and 2) better car. It would have been nice for HERTZ to drive me over there, but oh well.
Perhaps a poor review and stopping my business with them for over 20 years might send a message. Be careful out there people.

Hertz at Philadelphia International Airport is ran
Pros: The car ran.
Cons: Basically everything. The $50 i agreed to online and commited to during pickup for a single day of rental almost turned into $130 at drop off. Car took forever to pickup because they overbooked rentals so I almost was left without a vehicle. The windshield wipers were terrible which didn't facilitate the 3 hour trip through the rain. The brakes were equally terrible. I dropped off my family at Hertz in the airport before going to fill up the gas tank but meanwhile an employee checked the car in and charged me $10 per gallon (local gas prices = $2 per gallon) while I had asked to revert the charges so I could make a quick trip to a gas station considering I showed up almost 2 hours early for the return. The answer I got was "it's too late, already done". I asked for the manager who agreed to give me a one time "discount" on the gas and charged me only 200% of the local prices rather than 500%.....yay. The manager asked me to do a phone survey which I agreed to but he used MY phone to dial the number and then proceeded to ask me questions and do the phone survey HIMSELF. In fact, when he asked me how likely i was to ever recommend Hertz on a 0 to 9 scale I answered 3 and I watches him press the number 9 on the krypad. Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable.

Pros: New vehicle
Cons: Waited 15 minutes for shuttle, caught a ride with Avis bus
Directed to a parking place all the way across the lot to get my car, and the space was empty. Had to walk all the way back across to office to get assigned another car.
Neither of the above would have been bad if it hadnt been 100 am and after dealing with a plane delay.
Pros: I liked the fact that it the vehicle was very clean and comfortable and came fully equipped.
The rate was reasonable - even the rate to replace the gas, which is often exorbitant.
Cons: I EXPRESSLY chose Firefly because their listing said IN TERMINAL.
They are NOT in the terminal.
This meant I had the drag my 86 year old mother all over the airport and shuttle area to get our rental car.
Also, they were short on staff meaning I literally waited at least 35 minutes to complete my transaction. The fact that my vehicle (which had been out for an oil change) had to be added back into service mad it even longer. The poor folks in line behind me probably waited 45 minutes....that's just crazy wrong!

Could not rent a car!
Cons: Our flight was delayed and by the time we went to rent, Firefly was closed but we were not notified that Firefly would close at 11:30 pm. Yes, we were shunted to Thrifty, who did rent us a comparable car at a comparable price, but if it weren't for a really nice and knowledgeable shuttle driver, we would not have known to go there (to Thrifty) instead.

Cons: The total of my rental was $148.55 including the insurance but I found a separate charge of $45 on my credit card from the insurance company.

Pros: the price
Cons: First car smelled horrible, second car was dirty but I was running late and didn't want to go for a third. Airport shuttle took over 30 minutes because "they weren't busy so didn't want to run more shuttles" although competitor shuttles (hertz national etc) were running frequently. Staff were not at all helpful. I tried to contact customer service and they didn't really do anything.
Would never use them again.

Cons: I wasn't informed that they would be placing a $200 hold on my credit card. The booking said the rental location was "in-terminal" and it is definitely not. The staff were unprofessional and it took an incredibly long time to process my information.

Ups and downs
Pros: Car was nice enough
Cons: 1) listed as 'in terminal' but had to take a five minute shuttle ride. Not sure if this is a Kayak mis-classification or if Firefly is misrepresenting.
2) shuttle was infrequent and/or slow. Watched at least four Hertz shuttles go by before the Firefly shuttle showed up.
3) There was literally no one at the rental counter when we got there, and no one showed up for a good 3+ minutes. Seriously?
4) Upon returning the car I was told I had to go back inside to close out my order. Not a good customer experience.
Just kinda wacky. The most important part (the car) was fine, but the other fringe stuff makes me not want to use them again....

Car was fine, but...
Pros: Had no issues with the car or customer service at pickup/dropoff...but --
Cons: it took an hour (ONE HOUR!) to be picked up by a shuttle at the airport. That's just ridiculous.
Cons: When we got to pick-up in Pliladelphia, they said it was booked somewhere else and not the airport. The charges were then much higher due to the difference in taxes. Kayak then offered an insurance which enterprise does not accept. We had already been charged for it. Very deceiving overall.

Excellent customer service and a great vehicle
Pros: I had an absolutely wonderful experience renting a vehicle from this Enterprise location! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The vehicle I got was of exceptional quality. The gentleman who helped me when I picked up the vehicle even called me the next day to check and make sure everything was going well. I return to Philadelphia frequently and will most definitely be renting from the same location again.

Pros: The car itself was fantastic. It was fuel efficient and incredibly clean. Exactly what I needed.
Cons: When I initially made the reservation, it came to a total of $36 for the day for an economy-sized car. However, there was not a fair warning of the additional charges. They were in very FINE print. I ended up paying $105 due to my age and other additional fees not including gas.

Pros: Employees were great, amiable and tried to fix our problems
Cons: That entreprise has an old charging system. My card was having trouble with the band and their band reader could not take it. They don´t have other payment alternatives like a chip reader or manual input. This was very disadvantageous for us and I the only way to pay was to ask a friend to take it out for us. I was there for 1 hr and a half. I know I have to change my card, but I have been able to pay everywhere else because they have alternatives.

nice car, but needed maintenance
Pros: In general I like Enterprise for their prices, selection and service. Their cars tend to be a little higher mileage that some companies, but I think this translates into lower rates.
Cons: This car, a Toyota RAV 4 with 30K miles on it, needed maintenance. The brakes were warped, leading to pulsation on moderate to strong braking. Also there was a sound associated with the running gear that could have been a bad tire (tires looked fine) or worn bearing. I don't think there were immediate safety issues, but this vehicle should not have been rented.

Dover drop off nightmare
Pros: PHL pickup was the best. Service was fast, friendly, and thorough.
Cons: Dover drop off location was understaffed. I stood line for 45 minutes to hand in keys. there needs to be an expedited process for people who are returning vehicles so they don't have to wait in line with people picking up their rentals. A little more air conditioning might have helped as well.

Pros: Car was ready by pick up time
Cons: After signing all documents and turning on the car, the oil change sign came on, forcing us to go through the process of inspecting and signing a new car all over again. Would've been nice if enterprise had kept better tabs on the status of the car in advance. The car was also filthy (both options were actually), both externally and internally. When asked about the sticky dry soda stain on the side of the car, the associate flippantly asked if I wanted him to get a rag to wipe it down. I have used a number of car rental services (Alamo, hertz, Avis) and have never been given a dirty car- ever) The windshield wasn't even clear and had dried water spots all over it and the side mirrors.

Pros: The guy from National met me at the door and walked me to the cars....he then let me upgrade to the next level and I was on my way. they quoted me my price prior to my departure and they were spot on with that price when I returned the car. Will most definitely rent from National again and I will use Kayak

Pros: The car was brand new, less than 500 miles. Easy check in and drive out. We did not purchase the pre-pay for gas, as there is a station less than 2 miles from the airport, and we filled it, and had a receipt on the way back.
Cons: Upon returning the car, we got our receipt and there was a 16 dollar charge for fuel, because we drove less than 75 miles. The check out guy called it a "computer glitch" that they need to fix, he was not interested in fixing it there, as there were a lot of cars coming in, "I will take care of it later". That was not acceptable as I had no confidence that he would remember to do this, so he had to take me inside, get on the computer and re-charge. That one ALSO had the charge so he did it again. On reviews such as yelp, this gouging has been going on since at least before 2013, so, what "computer glitch"? It is a shameful money-grab.I would have given a level 5 for this review otherwise, however I found this practice so disingenuous that they only earned a 2

Badly treated by corporate customer service; good
Pros: The car itself was nice, though there was a little bit of trash left in there when I picked it up. The people at each branch were friendly and efficient. In Greenville, SC, where I returned the car, their computer system was down, yet the gentleman still provided good customer service. However, I was treated extremely poorly by the corporate customer service over the phone (see next half of the review)
Cons: Although the Philadelphia and Greenville branches were great (see first half of review) the over-the-phone customer service on the corporate line was abominable. I was requesting the possibility of changing dropoff locations, and I was treated very badly. Not only did the pricemore than triple for me to drop it off 400 miles closer than planned (so I just chose to stick with the original dropoff location), but the gentleman on the phone mocked me and raised his voice. Disgusting behavior. I gave the overall experience a "mediocre" rating for this reason, because while the rest of the experience was good, this man ruined it before it started.

Pros: The car was as advertised. Clean but high miles.
Cons: Kayak booked me a car in Philly. When I got the reservation reminder it was for pickup at the convention center not the airport. When we move the reservation the cost was almost twice what we had booked the original reservation before. It would be great if Kayak could have a more prominent alert when renting cars not from the airport locations.
Avis' checkin process was also very poor. I had to wait in line for over 20 minutes while other customers checked out. No automated kiosk. Eventhough I had prepaid for everything it took almost 5 minutes to check me out once I got in front of a CSR.
Cons: It was not advise that I had to call for pick up at terminal and when I called they said you have to as they do not just drive around like all other rental car companies....not good

Shuttle never showed up
Cons: Shuttle never showed up; kayak lied about the location because it was no where near the airport; when I called in desperation to find the shuttle they put me on hold for 15 minutes, then I gave up and booked an enterprise car on my cellphone and jumped in the 7th enterprise shuttle that went by. Luckily there are so many options and one is never stuck without a car.

Spirit Airlines of car rental
Pros: The vehicle was ok. I can understand the "close to the car you want" disclaimer. I booked a Tahoe but received a Traverse.
Cons: Where do I start? First, the security deposit on renting the vehicle. I am well over 25 and used a major credit card. $200 security deposit that was not stated at the time of booking. Secondly, there is a fee for driving the vehicle out of the tri-state area. Really!?!? The fee is $15 per day, but the young lady gave me a $5 discount. Thank you. Right there I should've just leave but I need to get to my destination. Thirdly, you have to treat the vehicles as if they were your own. The vehicle needed an oil change before I even drove off the lot. Again I should've said something, but I needed to get on the road to NC. The vehicle needs to be cleaned before I received it and the previous driver must have through a back road somewhere. The grill and side mirrors were covered in "bug juice" even after they cleaned the car. Mind you the vehicle is white. Everything is visible so I take the vehicle to the car wash to really clean the car. In summation, all total fees need to up front and the vehicle needs to be maintained.

Cons: Took 45 min to pick up car; counter was understaffed. Took 15 min to drop off car - had to go into counter and wait. Also, if you decline the insurance, they charge several hundred $$ to credit card and refund the credit balance after you return car - kind of shady, I think.

Pros: The staff was friendly . My van was clean and ready at the time of pickup . Mike took extra time to make sure I was comfortable with the features of my rental. The fee was exactly what I was quoted.
Cons: The van only had a quarter tank, but then I only had to return it with a quarter tank.
Pros: Due to trouble with the mechanics of the car Rent a Wreck is refunding a day's charge. This should be back in account within 3 days, they say.
Cons: The muffler came semidetached and it sounded like a street rod. I'm nor sure if this was a safety hazard or not but it wasn't good.

Cons: . a little seedy. car was not clean inside or out. the rental signing process a little outdated and in an uncomfortable setting. In the end, the pricing was not that much cheaper than the nationals/brand names. The policy about the rental period is strict. severe penalty for dropping off after 24 hour period...so ridiculous that I uber'ed to a couple places after I returned the car. My flight came in early and I picked up an hour earlier than anticipated but was leaving at my expected time 26 hours later. 2 extra hours was double the cost.

Car not back to rent and wanted to charge a holdin
Pros: Did not rent, because the price change when I got to the rental place.
Cons: I made the purchase on Kayak using the parameters in the app and booked online. Once they had the shuttle take me to the store, the price doubled, though they could clearly see the price booked from kayak, they refused to honor it, saying the problem was with kayak. After protesting, I eventually had to leave because I was short on time. Weeks later, after filing a complaint on their website, kicking a storm on Twitter, my issue remains unresolved. Never again.

Pros: It's one of the cheapest companies to rent a car from in the city. They location is not near the airport, but the confirmation email i received gave me the address so I could Google where the company was before. They do have a shuttle to and from the airport, and my car was clean and had a full tank of gas. I rented an economy car and waived the insurance so the price wasn't too bad.
Cons: They charged me $30 extra than what I was quoted online. The shuttle took a bit too of time to pick me up at the airport, but it was a busy evening so that's understandable.

That distance, coupled with the shuttle's poor frequency (they seem to run every 15 minutes) had me waiting both for pickup and at their location and curbside for long periods of time. Before I was initially picked up for rental, I was waiting curbside while every other rental company had several shuttles running before I'd ever seen even one Thrifty shuttle come by.
They charged my credit card a hold of $350 that took several days to clear after I'd returned the car. I have excellent credit and a clean driving record but I've never seen any other rental car company hold funds on a credit card. It seemed to be standard practice for them as I noticed other customers enduring the same. Considering how far off-site the location is, you have the option to either deal with it or waste significantly more of your time waiting for a ride back to the airport and choosing another company.

Cons: Its a few miles from the airport, so there's a bit of a shuttle delay in both pickup and drop off. Worth it if you're getting a better price.
Their refueling fee is 10 dollars per gallon which is above and beyond any other rental agency. (For example, Alamo charges around 3 dollars a gallon, which is about a dollar surcharge of the current market rate.)

Cons: My Chrysler 200 had a stain on the driver's seat and the interior smelled. The first car offered was a Nissan that someone had sprayed the gages on the dash with something that had dried and couldn't come off, making them unreadable. The woman at the counter gave me an attitude when she couldn't understand my email address. Never again National Car Rental!
