9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, friendly and helpful. Found activities for kids during rain. Comfy beds ++. Clean rooms. Helpful signs posted to guide to ammenities. 2 pools, one in sun and one more shaded. Nice reception area. Accomodating to all types of travellers various ages, couples, singles, and families. Relaxing environment. Great free yoga class in beautiful environment!
Cons: Only minor issue was the hot tub was a bit dirty floating scum on top. But this is more because of sunscreen from people going in. Hard to avoid. Maybe post more signs reinforcing showers before or more diligent skimming.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Truly lovely staff and a very good breakfast buffet included in the room
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room, pool, hotel, beach club, location and especially the staff. Lovely and helpful staff!
Cons: Just one thing they need to improve on - vegan options in their restaurant. There wasn't much on offer unfortunately.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location
Cons: Mildew smell and mold growing in bathroom and ceiling of entire room. Food is mediocre
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Turkish owner is so nice and helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fantastic hotel close enough by foot or bike to all the surrounding beaches and restaurants, shops. Beautifully kept grounds and incredible staff. Thank you so much to all for this amazing experience in your beautiful area of Puerto Viejo. Highly recommend !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beach club is very nice and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The pools were excellent
1.0 Poor
Pros: We had a stayed in a 3 star for 2 weeks prior to staying at the Cameleon and, both the service and facilities were so much better. The only positive stand out was the change of the decor to the rooms each day... however, there was more focus on this than re-stocking the mini bar!
Cons: The service was appalling, we asked for our mini bar to be replenished, this never happened. We ate at the restaurant on both evenings of our stay, the first night the octopus was so badly overcooked it was like eating rubber, when we fed this back to the waiter, he stared at us blankly. Following, our complaint, he then made us wait during subsequent visits. On once occasion we were waiting over 45 mins for our bill! On the second evening our starter never arrived and the shrimp pasta consisted of two shrimps only.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful place, nice location, friendly staff and value for money.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: They put us in a room with water infiltration from the ceiling and with the air contioner broken. The maintening staff acted as this kind of issue happens all the time. We had to ask them to put us in another room, it wasn't their iniciative after we reported the problems. After that, they tried to compensate it by giving us an upgrade and giving a bottle of sparkling wine, but it's far from worth all the trouble. It just seems that good days of this place are gone. The owners simply left it over, without renewing, reforming, remodeling... Besides that, the staff is great, very kind and helpful, they deserve a raise in their wages for having to deal with all those problems. Extremely expensive for the actual conditions.
Selina Puerto Viejo - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca - Pool

7.7 Good (1,649 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Selina Shared Puerto Viejo in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, you'll be on the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Punta Uva Beach and Cahuita National Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Selina has a nice restaurant with good food- breakfast and lunch was really good. Nice pool area, has bikes for rent, surf boards, has library and you can enroll for some activities like joga. Was really close to playa coclles wher you can sunbath, surf, chill.
Cons: It was quite loud by "shared" area and also in the rooms there was nothing more than a bed - no even place to put your clothes/personal items.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It has many facilities and it has a great location!
Cons: They should sale soap, shampoo , toothpaste, toothbrush, etc... at the front desk, just in case you forgot or lose something.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great surf & hippi place:) it's just by the see, unfortunately beach is not that great just by selina. you can walk 5 min and get to really beautiful one. Rooms in selina are really simple - nothing fancy. But whole place is really nice and beautiful - you have nice pool area, good food in the restaurant, library, you can rent a bike and enjoy the atmosphere in Puerto Viejo! For the price and location I strongly recommend the place.
Cons: Room was just above the "shared" area so in the night it was really loud. Also in the room there were no shelfs, no night stand by the bed, so there was no place to unpack your things or even put a phone next to you.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The design is great.
Cons: I missed the "normal" hostel vibes, we haven't seen any activity offered for the people staying there for free, there was no common game, party, etc. The room had no window and I think for this price what we have paid, you better go to a hotel, there is not much price difference.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a king sized bed that was very comfortable. It was an expensive room as far as Selina goes, but it was big with a separate sitting room area, cool balcony with a hammock and nice view, a huge bathroom, and two overhead fans that kept us nice and cool.
Cons: This Selina was not quite as cool as some others we've been to. And we were disappointed that the music ended at 10pm on a Saturday night. But there was an ocean path that was easily accessible and we just took a lovely walk towards town to another bar.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Impeccably kept grounds. Very personable and responsive staff. Scrumptious dining in an intimate setting.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, super helpful and friendly. Food was very good and it’s right on the beach which is great. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Cons: It seems far away from town and the dirt road to get to the hotel is very long and rough which was annoying. But most roads are like that and it seems most of the hotels were far from town as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love this place! We came back for a second time because we enjoyed it so much when we were there on our honeymoon. It has such a relaxing stress free vibe. The staff is always very friendly and personable. This is a great place to come if you want an escape from life for a while.
Cons: Air conditioning would be nice when the humidity becomes unbearable, but we understand it would take away from the Caribbean vibe that makes this place so special.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is amazing, it exceeding our expectations! Location perfect, right on Negra beach! Rooms exceptional (especially the tree house). Staff extremely friendly, warm & will go out of their way to ensure you have all you need. Food also exceptional! Very good breakfast, great cocktails! Free coffee/tea available from 5am on the beach to watch the sunrise, just one of the many great touches. Porto Viejo a 5 min car drive, taxis available or you can hire bikes from the hotel. I will definitely be returning to this hotel.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice garden
Cons: Location faar from city Water and internet failed Restaurant ordinary and expensive
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bungalow was so charming and good sized. Perfectly clean. The beach view unforgettable. The staff were warm, efficient and kind. Actually sad to leave them.
Cons: We did not have an air conditioner in our unit... our fault. Definitely would prefer one next time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: In general a super nice Hotel at least for the older rooms in the main building. I cannot rate the other additions since we didn't stay there. We stayed three nights in the bigger rooms (Dolphin and Howler). Both have got nice balconies with a hammock and lots of space, a big bed with a mossy net and a fan and a bathroom with a shower (for Howler also with a large bathtub). Howler's got the view towards the ocean, Dolphin is on the opposite side of the building, but the view is still nice. Because of the mossy net on the bed and all the big doors, you don't really need AC since there is plenty of fresh air coming in. Combined with the ceiling fan it is perfect. The restaurant prepares yummy meals. In case you stay for a really long time you might run out of options to try but there is a special every day.
Cons: The only thing I can think of which could have been better is the mossy net. From Africa I know some nets that are basically box shaped and the sides are vertical. They would give much more room on the bed compared to the standard nets with a ring at the top where the sides are angled. Especially in a place like this with quite a few mosquitoes I would have preferred the box shaped version where it is less likely to touch the net during the night. Might be a bit more difficult to hang it from the ceiling though.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Banana Azul is a lovely hotel! The location was a 5 minute cab from the town, which had plenty of bars and restaurants for the evening. It’s right on the beach which made it super easy to just set up camp and relax there for the day. Food and drinks were also really good and staff were always really helpful! Would highly recommend!!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed, clean, really nice and helpful staff. Safe. A/C worked well. Quiet. Freshly made eggs and pancakes at breakfast!
Cons: Pool was a little dirty. Breakfast was ok, lots of options but some mornings it filled up a bit slowly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place. It is really jungle resort with big trees, lianas and flowers. You just leave its gate & you are right next to surfers beach. Not recommended for inexperienced swimmers due to rip currents but great for surfers. You can head to town and there you can enjoy beach even for small kids or walk further to very nice Playa Negra.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, large appartments, good breakfast, nice pools
Cons: Beach on other side of busy road and no designated part there for guests.
7.0 Good
Pros: The cabin we stayed in was nestled in the forest and is arrived at via a lovely meandering path lush with tropical plants, trees and wildlife. The cabin had plenty of generous space with a huge covered porch which included an outdoor dining area, kitchen and all the furnishings including two hammocks. The two bedrooms were equally as generous each with large bathrooms and showers.
Cons: The pool had many leaves and dead insects which made it uncomfortable for me to spend time in the water. Others did not seem to mind. It must be challenging to maintain these facilities in the forest but never saw any care takers cleaning the pool in the three days we stayed at the Cariblue and would of expected more attention to this common area.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was great, and localization was just fine. The beach in front of the hotel (on the other side of a busy road) is a surf beach (impossible to swim) and the hotel as no beach club or facilities at beach.
Cons: The breakfast was just awfull. No continental options: no cheese or ham for example...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: - friendly staff - good breakfast - amazing location in the middle of jungle - you can spot wild animals around your room
Cons: - room could be cleaner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect and the property amenities are awesome.
Cons: The tótem restaurant is not open al the time.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place and wish we stayed here longer. The location is great, right on a beautiful beach, outside of town, and across the street from the Jaguar Rescue Center which is a must see. The beach is not great for swimming because of rocks, but they create some neat tide pools you can sit in and rest your beer on the rocks. Or you can walk just a little bit down the beach and it’s all sand. The rooms are huge, great breakfast, and a nice pool. There was a resident sloth in the trees near the pool.
Cons: The facilities could use some updating, but this doesn’t apply to the rooms. They’re very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing! The chef is from Hungary and is an amazing cook!
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Rooms are nice and the swimming pool is as advertised. Breakfast was an average Costa Rican breakfast.
Cons: Rooms are next to the road so there was minor traffic noise at night. Toilets need to be replaced as one toilet paper square is difficult to flush. Required to use swimming pool toilet if you didn’t want to make a mess!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great and we would definitely stay here again. They even put champagne and chocolate in our room for our anniversary. The pools and jacuzzi are great and everything is so close to the ocean with nice views. The staff seem to work really hard and they're quite professional.
Cons: The poor guy at breakfast was super friendly and efficient but definitely overworked. The restaurant was full with people waiting and he was out front alone.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Food was good and administrative staff was helpful. They were very understanding when we cut short our stay because of a medical emergency.
Cons: Bad service of the restaurant. They forgot my husband's breakfast and then they took our plates when we stood up for more coffee but we were not done. The coffee pot was not working. The place can use a coat of paint.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice backyard path 2 minutes walk to beach.

Pros: I love the way it looks...im an artist and so I enjoyed so much...for mw is like a space ship to the art mosaic planet...incredible...
7.9 Good
Pros: Rocking J’s is a very cool place with positive vibes. You feel like back in hippies:) Whole area is precisely decorated with beautiful paintings and collages. It has access to the sea, comfy siting on the beach, own bar. Personnel is extremely nice. Hostel is surrounded by a nature. We even sow a sloth nearby sea. There is kitchen and small market just in front of hostel. It’s possible to borrow a snorkel or bike by a small charge. You get a private locker for your stuffs for free :)
Cons: What’s a bit troubling - there is loud music (mostly reggae - what I loved until I wanted to sleep) until late night If you don’t feel like partying there is no escape. We slept in hammocks what I strongly recommend - amazing experience. The bad side - we couldn’t fall asleep until bar closed. There is only cold water available and not enough of toilets :(
6.0 Good
Pros: Evening events
Cons: The kitchen is too small and doesn't have cuttlery or cups
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Noisy room the one in the common kitchen

Pros: Nicely located, clean place. Stayed in one of the bigger bungalows just for one night. Enjoyed it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fab place to stay! Great location near the ocean.... cabins are perfect. Staff helpful but you do have to ask... Had a massage - first class. Used the restaurant, food was excellent and reasonable prices. Lots of wildlife- troupe of howler monkeys popped in one evening. All in all would highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing.... excellent place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The shower temperature changed constantly
9.2 Excellent
Pros: All stuff members were excellent. More wild life seen than at any other hotel ever. Anteater, agoutis, poisson dart frog, macaws, lizards, etc. We loved the common area near the reception area
Cons: The fan was broken and they knew on the check in. The parking is very limited on the property.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved going to sleep to the sound of frogs and crickets, often waking up to the sound of howler monkeys toucans and other birds. Also saw monkeys, agouti, green macaw, poison dart frogs, and lizards all on the property.
Cons: Breakfast is served until 9 am so you can’t sleep in too long. Would be nice if they would extend that to 9:30.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Namuwoki is an amazing place, the garden is beautiful the staff are kind and helpful. You can feel you are part of the jungle, will see animals all around. The bed is comfortable the shower is nice wide, you have plenty of room. The services such as laundry and spa are great and I recommend both. The restaurant for the evening was tasty.
Cons: The breakfast wasn’t really not variable. Almost same every morning. I would suggest them to have more types of bakery products and fresh veggies and fruits more. Plantains maybe or to show the beautiful variaty of the Caribbean gastronomy more
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The deluxe room was great, nice pool area, quiet location with WiFi in all areas.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Distribution of the bungalows and how were built in harmony with the environment. Staff very nice and responsive.
Cons: Hours for breakfast and swimming pool on extended would-be very good.

Pros: The place was beautiful. Location was great and peaceful, a short walk from the beach and main road. Room and hotel area were super clean. Hotel staff was friendly, even though we didn't have same language with the owner (he didn't speak english). 6.3 Good
Pros: Fortunately we were moved to the honeymoon suite because we had booked a room at the back of the property and when we arrived we had a room at the front with no AC
Cons: Very noisy location!! We Asked for laundry service and were told it was available for a small fee - which turned out to be $26 US!! Unfortunately when our clothes were returned, there were several items ruined by bleach. The staff were very apologetic and keen to rectify the situation as best they could - they comped our room, which was appreciated, but we still left the property with ruined clothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent
Cons: For a room at this price level I was disappointed. The bathroom was not clean, the Jacuzzi tub was unusable, there were no glasses in the room. In other words, while large (and expensive) it was very basic. Also, the room I was in (in the back) was next to a bar with very loud music all night.
7.5 Good
Pros: The restaurant. It is a amazing.
Cons: Broken pool Broken bathtub
4.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel was close to the main areas of puerto Viejo and the room itself was very roomy. Breakfast was good and it had a beautiful presentation
Cons: The two rooms we had were across a dirt alley from the main hotel, next roan old storage shack. Did not seem very secure. The room itself was large with a loft area which had no mattress, and was full of leaves and lizards. The bathroom was extremely small, with an terrible layout. You couldn’t sit on the toilet without your knees hitting the sink. The water was scorching hot for 30 seconds and then stayed cold (our friends in the next room had the same experience). Room needed maintenance badly. The pictures of the hotel on websites are very misleading as the pool is more of a pond and everything seems like it is falling apart. It was more of a cheap motel than a hotel. We stayed in the Kamikaze, should have known! The Ninja next door was a bit better, but still across the dark road from the hotel
4.2 Okay
Pros: Good location, friendly staff and excellent food in the restaurant.
Cons: We were very disappointed by this hotel. There were 10 cockroaches in our room and we had to fight with them all night by ourselves. The price for the room was too high...
7.5 Good
Pros: The restaurant was exceptional and the staff very friendly
Cons: The sound from a bar down the street was really too much and the sound goes on until 2 or 3 in the morning
6.0 Good
Pros: Location was far enough out not to be disturbed but close enough to easily walk to centre
Cons: the lightning in the room was poor and the bathroom was poor
6.0 Good
Pros: Restaurants
Cons: Traffic barking dogs
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff ( volunteers !). Nice big comfortable room with a balcony!
Cons: Unfortunately, we got a room facing a busy Main Street and it was a weekend - a Party time. Music was loud till 2 am. It was more available rooms during our stay.... Toilet had a flushing issues....
6.0 Good
Pros: Nice sized room. Pool. Evening restaurant excellent and different staff brilliant food
Cons: Jacuzzi dirty didn’t work. Breakfast poor sliced white bread toast scambled egg unpleasant. On the surface ok but needs deep cleaning

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful and new hotel. Also breakfast was tasty.
Cons: Staff who serves breakfast dont speak English - even eggs, juce etc.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We really loved the location of this hotel, a little bit tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main street but extremely close to absolutely everything Puerto Viejo has to offer. The size of the room and the bathroom was great, although don`t expect luxury! The thing that was absolutely lovely was the balcony, where you have two huge wooden chairs where you can lounge and watch the beautiful sunsets. Also, the balcony is right in front of the neighbours´ exquisite garden, which means that there are loads of colourful birds flying around and singing all the time. I´d go back there only for that balcony, I swear. Also, the breakfast was wonderful!
Cons: The only thing that disappointed me was the shower. In order to get hot water you had to change the water pressure to really low and the shower option to something which resembled more like a spray rather than a shower. Nevertheless, given that it´s usually really hot outside, this is not such a big issue. The staff was nice, but not particularly helpful. The property occupies quite a big space which is pretty empty. The thing about Costa Rica is nature so it would have been nice to have more plants in that place. The neighbours´garden totally makes up for it, though!
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Good breakfast and good loctaion- good eggs chef !! We enjoyed the love music one night - Jm Vick and Cameron Greenline - unfortunately we nissed the Carribean Reggae band who were promoted to appear the day after we left !!
Cons: Nothing at all !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: THis is the coolest place that we stayed in while in costa rica. The bungalo was amazing, the staff was incredible. The breakfast (custom omlets to request) perfect~ We rented bikes - which was so fun. They had a dinner wth live music that we could hear from our bungalo that set the mood perfectally. Cute cats, sloth in tree, close to town (a bike ride is perfect - little long to walk). Close to attractions. Loved it!
Cons: Our bungalo (#7) was just opposite an exterior wall - a little loud with traffic at times.
6.0 Good
Cons: Whole place could use a good cleaning and upgrade.

6.0 Good
Pros: Next to the beach. Nice design.
Cons: Bar prices are dissuasive. Staff all but warm. Bedroom is pretty small for the price it costs. Was dirty in the morning around beach tables. Would be appreaciated to mention that the music bar, playing until 10:00 pm, can be heard in the bed rooms. Bedroom above the trash container.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Cute place but not the best service and very basic rooms and breakfast. Could use some more friendly staff and more clean comon areas.
7.0 Good
Pros: Loved the location of Playa 506 and the hang out areas in the restaurant and on the beach. Hearing the waves crash a few meters away is the big draw to this place. But the room price, in my opinion, is very high for what you get. There's better value for money elsewhere. We stayed in a private room with a fan & a shared bathroom. The room was basic. The bathroom didn't have any soap but you can buy shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, insect repellent and body lotion at reception. Beach towel rental is also available at reception for $3. We had an excellent view of the sea in a double room with a fan. The breakfast was what you'd expect: gallo pinto, eggs, fruit, coffee/tea. You can easily walk to the surfing area of Cocles beach and the restaurants nearby. Walking into town takes about 45 minutes but bike rentals are available for $7 per day (til 10PM) or $10 for 24 hrs. The only real problem I had was the unfriendly and curt nature of the staff. This was the first time in our one month through Costa Rica that we came across such unwelcoming workers.
Cons: Standoffish and uncongenial staff. That really left us with a negative feeling about such a beautiful place. They need to work on their customer service training. For the price, you'd think they'd provide soap in the bathroom also.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beach front location. Gorgeous beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Beach is right behind the Hostel and it’s only a few meters to playa cocles, where you can surf if you like it. The people that work here are very nice and helpful so you can really enjoy life!
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was complementary and good . The 24/7 coffee and tea wasn’t visible . Shower has hot water . Room was clean
Cons: To pay more as a tourist is kinda normal. Charging 6600 colones for two small beer is a joke. Ordered And paid , but never seen again.

Cons: Great location, great stuff. I would definitely come back

Pros: The staff was very friendly. Being in the middle of the jungle with wildlife was a pretty cool experience as well.
Cons: The bed sheets were dirty with visible stains. There was an empty tray of cookies inside of the large dresser in the room upon check in. The shower head also had many exposed electrical wires. We also had a few run in’s with ants in the room. We’d find a colony of them coming in from the balcony door or sometimes crawling across the headboard.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Place is incredibly Cozy....Best Night Sleep EVER, the Staff, The Owner are all above and beyond expected, the hotel itself is AWESOME...One of the Best Places in Puerto Viejo to stay..!!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room decor and jungle view was great. Owner was incredibly helpful. Taxis into town were between C2500 and C3500.
Cons: The bed was mediocre. Bar prices were high.

Pros: Swimming pool was amazing ac was great beds were comfy breakfast was good.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful little hotel amongst the jungle. So quiet and peaceful, but just a few minutes drive to town. The pool is warm and the included breakfast is nice. Very reasonable price for what you get. Highly recommend.
Cons: My one and only complaint is that our room didn’t have a fan. The ac unit is nice, but a fan would’ve been better for airflow. The door to our balcony didn’t have a screen, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving it open to let in fresh air because it would’ve let in bugs and mosquitos. Ended up making our room feel a little musty and stuffy.
7.0 Good
Pros: Liked the massive trees and wildlife at the back of the property, nice pool, plentiful breakfast but there was no change in the menu throughout our stay and got boring at the end. Easy access to all local highlights. They cleaned room everyday. Staff very helpful, they even opened a coconut we brought back from the beach:) enjoyed listening to birds and monkeys in the mornings.
Cons: We stayed in one of the cabins in the block and we heard everything from our neighbours. Also aircon is noisy and the outside unit is in the balcony so if it is on or some of the neighbour's is on then it is not great. You need a car to get around as property is a bit far off from main road.
7.9 Good
Pros: The Green frogs were awesome.

Pros: Loved the pool..

Pros: One of the beste hostels i ever booked, super nice owner family, they help you with everything and they are very, very friendly. They got four sweet dogs, one of them is really big (but he is the sweetest), so you should not be scared of dogs. American breakfast for 5$, worth every cent. You wake up in the middle of the jungle, but you only need 2 minutes to the beach. You have your own bathroom and you have a spot to park your car. When we come back to Puerto Viejo, we will definetly come back to Casa Moabi. Much love
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely owners, very helpful and we received a very warm welcome. Beautiful surroundings, if you’re an animal lover, this is the place to go (dogs, cats, monkeys..) Take mosquito spray :)
Cons: Bathroom and bedsheets could be cleaner
7.1 Good
Pros: The stuff was really friendly, nice common zone, garden and kitchen! Beautiful pets!
Cons: The smell in the room was really bad because of humidity. If the owners can fix it would be a perfect place to stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed one night here but would have loved to stay longer! Amazing (optional) breakfast, nice room, super friendly hosts and just a very welcoming and chill vibe.
Cons: In general, Puerto Viejo is not a very ideal destination without having a car. This accommodation has all sorts of amenities close by but was a bit far from town (15 minutes by taxi). However, if you have your own car, this is not an issue at all.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic couple! They were warm, friendly and welcoming. They have a nice kitchen that feels fresh that you can use. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed the communal setting, like an inn. Breakfast in the morning was huge, delicious, and very good value, including fruit, pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon, toast, coffee. Great location outside Puerto Viejo toward Manzanillo, where the best beaches are. Bikes on site to rent affordably. Really enjoyed spending time chatting with Shonia especially, and Andy.
Cons: Had a disappointing situation in that within a couple of hours of leaving I realized a personal item had been left behind. I messaged Andy, the owner, three times in three days, trying to organize to come back and pick it up, as we'd moved a half hour north, but he never responded to any of the messages. I really thought he had more integrity, and it made me feel that all the "connection" we'd felt was artificial and purely business.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This place has a welcoming and relaxed vibe, not only helped by the great shared areas full of hammocks, but also the owners, a lovely and warm family originally from Canada. The room gets cleaned every day and the lounge + kitchen are a great place to hang out. Jungle all around too so lots of wildlife to spot in the gardens!
Cons: Our eco room was quite basic but then again, it was good value. We didn’t spend much time in our room anyway as the outside spaces are so great!

Pros: Marc, the owner, was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. He made the breakfast to order every morning. It was always delicious. The room was spectacular. Very comfortable. Almost too comfortable to leave. We would definitely come back!

Pros: Good location. Friendly owner. Good sodas, restaurant nearby. Plenty food for breakfast. Clean rooms. The Cameleon (on the beach) is 3 mins away and offers sunbeds and excellent salads and cocktails.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice maintained property in walking distance to beach, restaurants & grocery store, wild animal rehab center. It’s set back a little bit from main road and it feels like you are in a remote jungle lodge. Place is super clean, the casitas are furnished very nice, clean modern bathrooms. Most amazing, no A/C but they way they are built and the fan in it keep them very comfortable! Very environmentally conscious! Mark is super friendly owner and very attentive to anybody’s needs. It was a pleasure!
Cons: No complaints at all. I stayed there twice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived until we left, we enjoyed every part of Caribe Town. Marc and Jessica are true down to earth people, and you can tell they enjoy what they do and love to make sure their guests have the best experience. Marc pointed out a couple of sloths on the property and at night, helped me spot the coolest frogs. He had one of his staff, Mariano, cut us down 2 pipa coconuts to drink from. A really cool experience for sure. Breakfast was really good and the self serve coffee whenever you needed it was great. There is a communal kitchen area which was helpful so we could make ourselves things to eat. Storing our food (and alcohol) in the communal fridge was safe and we trusted no one would interfere with it. Great location. Walking distance to the beach and Jessica and Marc gave us lots of tips for the best hidden gem inexpensive places to eat. This is a perfect place for a couple as there are only 5 bungalows so it's not noisy and busy. We fell asleep to the sounds of the wildlife and we could hear the waves from the beach. It rained around 9pm each night but it was a peaceful sound on the roof. Overall, we felt like part of a family when we were there and next year when we return to Costa Rica, we are definitely staying there again.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like is that we had to leave.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast nice clean room. Good host and staff . Overall great accommodation.
Cons: Without a car the location is not ideal. Still can get around however. 10min walk to supermarket and a few restaurants. A bit further to playa cocles and the main town is about 35 min walk . Bikes available for rent however which makes it much faster. The pool area could be nicer
5.8 Okay
Pros: The pool
Cons: Overpriced and the room was small , thought it would be bigger being described as the honeymoon bungalow
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice setup with 6 casitas / cabinas (-little, individual cottages) and a main house with pool deck. Everything is shielded from each other with jungle like vegetation and beautiful flowers. Very clean, close to beach, stores, restaurants yet set back enough to feel like in the jungle. Perfect. The owner is very attentive but non-intrusive, a pleasure.
Cons: No complaints whatsoever!

Pros: This place in incredible. The cabins are beautiful and clean; the bed is comfortable and they bathroom is huge. I loved all of it. Also, the location is very good. Being apart from town, isolated, is great. Nonetheless, you can walk to several places –including the sea.
Cons: I like everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s an EcoLodge in the middle of the rainforest, architecturally designed to highlight the nature around it. It’s naturally ventilated with extremely high ceilings. You will perfectly hear and feel the jungle as if you were outside. Amazing experience especially when it’s raining. A lot of biodiversity on the property. Best choice one can make! It’s an experience of it’s own.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Spanish owners are extremely nice and welcoming you like in their home. The eco lodge is confortable. The breakfast is fresh and different every day. The jungle garden is beautiful with animals including sloths.
Cons: Please be aware jungle sounds (howler monkey) will wake you up since the lodge is open to the garden with only insect protection at the windows.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best place we've stayed in during our vacation in Costa Rica. The architecture of the rooms is really smart and sustainable, the design is beautiful and minimalistic. You really feel like you're deep in the jungle, you can really relax and unwind with the sounds of nature in the background. The rooms are really big and are always in the shade, so there's a nice temperature, even during daytime (at lest this was the case during our stay). The bathroom and the shower are also very spacious and comfortable; the shower gel and the shampoo provided are very nice smelling and biodegradable. The towels smell also really nice, like a clean home. The family owning this lodge is very nice, polite and helped us in numerous occasions. It felt like home away from home, we just loved it here. Highly recommend it.
Cons: We liked everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hosts A lot of animals to see on the property, the host shows you all the frogs, when you don't find them. ;-)

Pros: Everything!

Pros: The place was beautiful. Location was great and peaceful, a short walk from the beach and main road. Room and hotel area were super clean. Hotel staff was friendly, even though we didn't have same language with the owner (he didn't speak english). But when we had a little injury during one tour we communicated with google translate and he was kind to drive us to emergency clinic. We were really happy with our stay and would highly recommend!
