The 174-room Sanctuary Cap Cana is an all-inclusive luxury resort that resembles a Spanish castle on a stunning cliffside location. This is the Dominican Republic's most exclusive adults-only all-inclusive resort and recently underwent a $35 million modernization.

Located on a private retreat inside Punta Cana, Cap Cana offer 30,000 acres of breathtaking beaches and is considered one of the most desirable vacation destination in the world. It’s the ideal getaway for any type of traveler with a variety of activities indoors, outdoors, and on the water. This destination is also home to Punta Espada Golf Club, which is one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean, and home to one of the most spectacular marinas in the world.

The rooms are divided into three sections, the main Colonial section, the Fortress, and the Caribbean Villas. Decor varies depending on the section, but most rooms have rustic-chic elements. Each section offers its own paradise. Suites with swim-out access to a pool are available in the Castle section, and the Terrace Tower Suites have outdoor hot tubs. Honeymoon Suites feature private plunge pools and Castle Island Suites sit on their own private islands accessible by bridge. The Monarch Villa offers a large porch area facing the beach. All rooms have impressive bathrooms with both showers and tubs, 24-hour room service, walk-in closets with silky bathrobes, and slippers, minibars that are refreshed daily, and Wi-Fi (for a fee).

Ac in lobby. Dining facilities. Only place open for breakfast abcs lunch was outside. Hot and humid was very uncomfortable to eat. Only place to cool off was our room. As it was an all inclusive, seemed like everyone was tipping for everything. And it was expected for everything. I don’t like the need to tip all the time for people doing their job. Especially being in vacation. They shouldn’t allow tipping. Pay your employees enough so they do a great job doing it rather than expecting tips. I’ve been at places like that. It was great because people simply cared about service. Clearly they were well payed.

Pros:Loved the small intimate size of the resort. The staff is top notch and bent over backwards to please. Has an European feel and the food was good. Fusion restaurant experience was over the top.
Cons:Wifi in lobby was spotty, not much to do at night. I felt pressured to tip. No real beach but lots of pools. We paid for ocean view and only saw a tiny peek of one. I would return and recommend it to everyone.

Pros:Everything outside the room. the food, the atmosphere, the entertainment and staff was absolutely excellent!
Cons:Lack of quality control in the room. no coffee maker, lack of water pressure in bath tub, multiple failures with housekeeping (not leaving towels, not coming at all, taking my robes and not returning them), and room service was spotty with incorrect orders.

Pros:Most of the staff was great, particularly bar staff including Martin at the Love Bar. The room was nice and accurately reflected "ocean view." The pools were quite pleasant including the main pool with swim up bar.
Cons:Food was very mediocre. More entertainment is needed as well if to compete with resorts in the other islands and even US resorts. They should have more air conditioning in their bars, lobby, typically sweat in these area from lack of it. Even in the restaurants the temperature could have been cooler.

Pros:The place is very secluded and is not currently near other resorts so it was very private and relaxing. The staff there is amazing! Everyone is so nice and eager to assist you in any way. I do recommend that you take plenty of Tip Money (apparently cash is preferred because that is the only sure way you'll know they got the tip. No guarantee by just adding charging it to the Room). You will definitely appreciate the amazing service. It was also Seaweed, and every day they cleared the shore of seaweed and would haul it away so that guests could enjoy the beach. This was a 5-Star relaxing Stay... Loved It!
Cons:I didn't like that Wi-Fi was not included with, but at least there is an option.

Pros:Great location, perfect to get away and not be bothered by crowds. The property is just big enough and everything is easily accessible. Everything is well run and organized. The food we found to be excellent. Find Carlos at the Castle bar for the best drinks on the property.
Cons:The only issue we had was our A/C slowly dying throughout the course of the week. Someone came to "fix" it, but it wasn't really fixed. This made the last night there some what uncomfortable, but we were on our way out, so didn't really make a big deal of it.
