The staff was friendly e and helpful.
It was a very old furnished and not clean hotel. Everything was very old, definitely this hotel needs a refurbishing.
The breakfast was quite nice. The breakfast staff was wonderful
It's a dump! This building should have been torn down years ago. Advertised free wifi. Totally false advertising. Wifi signal was so weak and slow that if you were able to connect at all, just constant buffering. It was unusable. Had to turn off wifi and used cellular. Air Conditioning was barely adequate and only if you left it running all the time which signs said you weren't supposed to do. Toilet would not flush bm materials. Just kind of circled the water around. Had to actually flush the toilet with water pressure from the bidet hose. Electrical outlets were dangling down just by the wires and you had to keep fiddling with the plug to get it a certain way so they would work. Towels were thin and threadbare. Just a decrepit place in a decent location!
- The breakfast was fantastic. - The location was excellent. - air conditioning was excellent. - people who served breakfast were friendly and constantly replenishing food and utensils.
- The elevator was broken. - the shower water was cold. - the cable television was turned off too soon. - wifi at times didn't work.
Morning breakfast was good. Restaurant staff was good. Very nice location. It's within 4 - 5 blocks of most of what one needs.
It's a dump. Run down, No maintenance. WIFI is unusable. When I complained to desk, their only solution was to blame my phone, tablet, laptop telling me that I should reboot them all. Ridiculous! Stayed here 6 nights before side trip to Puerto Allegre, and one additional night before return flight home. Thought the problem was just my particular room. Upon returning from Porto, I found it wasn't just my room. The second room was even worse. Room rent was jacked up super high because of the holiday. Ended up paying good U.S. hotel prices for a p.o.s place. The only thing going for it is the location. That was excellent and makes it worth some compromises in quality, but even factoring in the location, this place definitely was not worth it! Bedding was threadbare. Pillows were awful. Towels were threadbare. A/C barely worked. Broken tiles everywhere. Bathroom sink countertop must be ??? years old and must have been awful back when it was installed. Electric outlets were not secured to wall, just dangling by wires. Had to constantly fiddle with plugs to make and hold an electric connection. Toilets woldn't flush. The water just swirls around languidly. Room door locks must be pre-WW2. I feel bad leaving such a poor review because I can see so many staff people's jobs depend upon this place for subsistence, but even factoring that in, it's just awful. I read online that some Japanese investors bought this place and many others around the world (OYO brand). It's obvious they're just milking the property and not putting anything back into it. Do not stay here!
Location was hard to beat (quiet street but a stone's throw from the action of Ipanema and a subway station nearby), staff was extra adorable all the time (specially Vanessa and Naila) and towels were changed everyday (which is uncommon even in more expensive hotels). Shower was good in spite of being electric.
I knew it from the beginning, but the room is very tiny. Air conditioning could be a lot better, pillows were uncomfortable and the room lacks some maintenance, it looks worn out. Toilet flush wouldn't always work. And breakfast was cheap on the worst sense of the word - replacing juices for groselha and serving the cheapest cheese and ham available. I don't care about that, I am happy to have breakfast out, but advice comes in handy for those who may stay there: you get what you pay for.
