Excellent stay and not overpriced, unlike many of the hotels we stayed at on this trip to France. I paid more for rooms in moderate 3 star motels than I have paid in a good hotel in central London. Even accounting for the weak pound, prices are silly, except for the Vicoria which was the lowest price we paid on the whole 2 week trip.
Bed,pillows,etc. No guest parking
Beach access directly across from the hotel. Rooms were old and tired as compared to the new lobby/bar area and on-line photos. This hotel needs an exterminator!
The view from our balcony over the sea was lovely and the lounge/bar area that had been upgraded was lovely to sit and have your breakfast in. Only part of the hotel has been upgraded the other part is shabby, carpets very stained, we found an adult toy under our bed! Make sure you book a room that is overlooking the sea and that it is in the upgraded part.
- location, excellent breakfast, beach just across the street - car parking is a misunderstanding. The hotel should note, that they have 2 places, in spite of this they are trying to pack 4 cars. You should rather treat it as " no parcing" hotel. The rest was really good.
Free WiFi, beautiful view to sea
The location, the breakfast and the appearance of the hotel. It feels lilke the French Reviera, right there on the water and nice beach. The breakfast is worth whatever they charged, I don't recall, but really excellent. Overall, great ambiance. Nice, big tv, english- language channels, also German, Italian, and of course French. Good internet access. We booked the standard double room, and recommend the upgraded rooms. We stayed in the upgraded room last year and it was way nicer; but the standard room is adequate with still ok furnishings. REally crummy tv remote, the plus-minus kind that forces you ro scroll channels; clumsy when there are many channels.
The view and position were wonderful
Near sea. Not far from Monaco (5 minutes by car)
It was close to the beach / promenade, clean and stuff was helpful. The bathroom needed renovation but at least it was clean.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The reception/dining area and terrace is beautifully redecorated. The breakfast was first class, although a bit expensive if they want to attract more clients. The noise from the traffic on the sea-facing side of the hotel is something they need to address. Apparently they will be fitting double-paned glass in November '09.
convenient location, not too noisy
Great location, very close to the Messena Place and the old town. Restaurants close by. Rooms are a decent size as far as French hotels go and for once the air conditioning actually worked. Staff spoke English and were helpful. We were only at the hotel for a quick overnight stay and didn't arrive until 9:30 pm so we didnt spend a long time in the hotel. Had breakfast in a cafe in the market.
I enjoyed the fact that the hotel was very central with easy access to buses and trains.
Location was excellent I wouldn't say it was 4 star. It was very basic and tatty in parts.
The availability and efficiency of the staff. The quality of the infra-structure, atmosphere of the hotel and its location. The room bathroom could be equipped with more towel hangers. During breakfast it would be best if the service staff would not start cleaning the room (washing the chairs, etc.) while people are finishing their meal. It disturbs a bit the breakfast experience.
We were made very welcome and the Hotel was very well placed for the park and shopping. The view was hardly inspiring.
Staff is very friendly, breakfast was excellent, hotel in general (colours, furniture...) Room for breakfast is too small for so many people
We got a good deal for the 'Privileged room' and we were given an upgrade to the next level as it was out of season and they had the ability to offer it to us. Was great to have a large room for a few days. Close to the beach and loads of shopping, restaurants, cafes and the stop for the hop on hop off tour bus. They had all the flyers of tourist things at the counter. Wifi was good. No TV reception for english channels.
proximity to local transportation international channels size of room was too small even for one person extremely loud at night rude employees!
Location No parking facilities offered to guests, however there is a public parking with preferred rates overnight
Near to the City, clean room Room was very smal
Location was good and hotel's decor fun and kitschy. Small room.
Very helpful staff; they even said "Have a nice stay" in my language that was amazing! Excellent localtion; place full of arts. You have a feeling that you stay in a museum but you really like it! Just spledid! Nothing, just perfect place.
The ambiance was nice- classic old style .The rooms were big and the view spectacular. Unfortunately the bath tub drain cover was not working so it required a nail file to remove the cover to drain the tub. This was repeated every day of our stay without the staff fixing it! The room was not cleaned on returning in the afternoon and we were told by reception that we had to call for cleaning !The wall tiles had black mould which Is really unacceptable in a hotel of this class.also, our room had chipped paint around doors and peeling wallpaper trim. All in all,This hotel needs revamping. On the plus side, the location is the best in Nice. The staff were very poor in responding to complaints - no apologies ever.My room smelled of mould ,to discover next day that there was a furnace type room opening into my closet, which did not have a door.On complaining ,I was given an excuse instead of an apology. Also, after staying 3 days,I was stopped by a security doorman on entering the lobby ,to question me if I was staying at the hotel. Very very upsetting and again ,after telling him yes ,no apology. Good staff should know the guests and be carful before causing an embarrassing moment. The service at breakfast was very poor and the buffet layout difficult to manage due to the tightness of the restaurant.
the interior of the hotel is exelent, very historical! The restoran is also very doog! Service of the reception and also reception manager was full boor. We planed to stay 21 day- and changed the hotel to another one on the 2 day of our stay!!!
Bad brekfast? bad plage, bad service, wery high preis - but only in this year
Good taste and comfort all over + restaurant Chatecler - the best I ever experienced food/wines and ambiance. Nope.
Historic building, beautiful lobby Rooms definitely need refurbishment
Wonderful wonderful staff and location location location. The rooms were well appointed and in a style that suited the hotel. The balcony was a great place to get a lovely view of the sea. The rooms were larger then most European hotel rooms and air conditioned which made it very comfortable in the August heat. The public areas and dining rooms were very comfortable and charming. Good business center with easy access. The carpet in the halls made it hard to move luggage around and did not fit the period and style of the hotel. Some of the art didn't suit the hotel ambiance. The carpet in our room was very worn and old. The bathroom had chipped sharp tiles and had not been updated which was a little disappointing for the price point. We were also disappointed that no one informed of the beach facilities available.
Perfect location, nice sea views, really interesting interiors. Some service points, at the reseption and consierge points.
Wonderful hotel. Excellent quality and service. Centrally located.
Large spacious room, robes, slippers, fabulous bath There was no blackout curtain... Luckily I brought an eye mask!
It was right on the beach front and a short walk to the two tour buses for Nice. The staff was very friendly, spoke many languages besides French, room service was excellent and very pleasant. No
staff, service, breakfast, location - excellent, by the sea, good shopping, easy to get to railway station, old city, shopping streets by walk
Over all a great experience since arrival, very good complementary high speed wireless internet , great breakfast and wonderful bath and shower along with quality interior, worth every cent.
The majority of your staff could speak english very well. and they were always very friendly and professional particularily Olivier the concierge
convenience to activities and shopping Bedroom carpets not properly hoovered, air con.not perceptily effective.
Friendliness and courtesy of staff None
Firstly the location was fantastic, 10mins from the airport and 10 min walk from the old town. Our room was beautiful and big with a big balcony over looking the sea. Could'nt fault it.
Location close to the sea front The Pool was very small and the sunning area was very small and could only take a small number of sunbathers - we had to instead use the private beach which cost 34 Euros
our room was facing the mediterrania, so beautiful. it is so close to restaurants in town and shopping.loved going to the casino after dinner. it was so clean and spacious (our room).
The staff was polite, funny and spoke perfect English. The manager worked like crazy to help out at the breakfast. We were impressed. The rooms! They're fine but there was absolutely no where to put anything. Our room had one lawn chair. It was weird. It all feels a little too Miami Vice with the colors. Felt slightly Miami-ish/Golden Girls. Bottom floor was noisy with window open.
Staff most helpful
Nice place, nice staff
I like the location the staff very not helpful at all ,had to ask 5 times at breakfast for hot water in order to have tea
Staff was really friendly
Location The noise from the road in a sea view room The breakfast far too expensive
Great location on the promenade des anglais. Offers a discount to the private beach in front of it (20 eur vs 28). Clean. Rooms facing Water havw a breathtaking romantic view. Walking distance to all of the attractions in Nice. Velo bleu (bicyle rental) has stations very close to it. Rooms are somewhat expensive. Private beach access not included. No free shuttle to and from airport (but #98 bus stops right in front of it and goes between airport and the Promenade for 6 euros).
Renovated rooms on the 5th floor are fabulous, soundproofing is great. Location is excellent, staff is well trained and friendly.
The hotel is in a superb position on the seafront, the staff are extremely courteous and efficient. Furnished very well in a beautiful French style and very clean.
Staff were friendly, the room was spacious and the location was perfect.
Overall style of the hotel and its superb location No parking - in a very busy and complex town
The hotel staff were very nice and provided lots of advice on how to move around, what to visit etc. Room was very clean. There is no carpet and it is all white tile which made it look very bright and clean. The sea view and sunrise in the morning is worth every penny spent. Compared to many of the hotels we visited in France this was the best overall experience.
small bathroom without practical furniture!
Very accomodating, not too big and felt personal. The service is exceptional and the spa is a must-do.
The Incredible architecture, fantastic staff and superb rooms.
You can hear everything in the corridor. not good service at all. horrible breakfast
Nice adjacent restaurant. Clean room with an bit odd, but original, design. Clearly visible that the hotel was renovated last year. Noise level in the room was a bit high due to the busy road outside.
Food and Hotel were gorgeous. WiFi 7E for 30 mins in reception! No WiFi in bedrooms. Should be free in bedrooms.
The hotel seems over-rated. It gives you the feeling of being old or overused or at least not well taken care of. Beyond the intention of design...some of the fittings seem...cheap... Plus, the idea of having the bathtub in the room could be special, but it is not practical. The lights are also not thought in a practical way...
great hotel ,great design , nothing
Great location. Friendly staff. great room. All extars very expensive - eg breakfast or to have a drink in the bar (22 euros for one cognac !)
the roses all around the place no service after 12 a.m. :(
Beautiful design, good location for shopping The air conditioner didn't work well, it was very hot when we arrived at evening time. I called the reception two times, they promised to come and do something but they didn't, so we suffered the very hot room even in autumn time, +17 degree outside. They only fix it in the next morning.
Beautiful hotel, good location, very friendly and efficient staff. The hydrotherapy pool is lovely
Everyone at this hotel was ridiculously nice and sweet. They made use amazing food at the drop of a hat any time we asked for it, and were extremely helpful. It was a little hard to get some places without a car. The bus stop is very close, and there will be cabs, but this is not like a huge city where cabs are always easy to find and walking is easy.
Super helpful staff
The location to the shopping district. I think the decor and carpeting could be updated.
best price in offpeak season.
staff was friendly no maintenance in the evening.
The hotel was very central and most of the staff were excellent. One guy was very rude. We only had one key for a shared room.Could not access the iron in evening before dinner and the receptionist did not do his best for us to get it. he was very abrupt saying they did not have one.The hairdryer was antiquated.very old and useless.need replacing.
the friendlyness of the staff at the reception desk The rooms were not cleaned adequately every day, sheets were not changed and soap was not restocked every day. Also, internet access was a rip off pricewise.
upon checking in we reported the bed linen being dirty, it was noted and told it can only be tended to the next day, the next day the roomstaff still did not change it. I certainly won't stay at this hotel neither recomend it
The hotel is very well located Staff at the reception could have been more helpful
the ubication was excellent, the hotel is modern and the personal was very nice
Great location - quite close to train station. Clean hotel and had a room with a balcony overlooking Rue Jean Medicin. Friendly staff. Nothing in particular.
An excellent location and very helpful staff - they contacted a local museum for us to find out if it was open on a Public Holiday (it wasn't!) The buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing. It looked good but all the breads were very dry and chewy, the fruit didn't taste fresh and tea needs to be made with boiling water, not from a pot of warm water brought to the table.
Very convenient location. Room was spacious. Staff were good humoured and helpful. Bed was super comfy!
excellent situation for beach and right on promenade. service was good, friendly staff.
Seaview rooms are great, exactly in front of the sea and with a modern furniture.
good staff bedroom quite dark on second floor
Nice and clean rooms, close to most Nice amenities, 2 car rentals in the same building (plus casino and police! dept) Common area is very small and required slight renovation, personnel could be more friendly
Excellent location, friendly&helpful staff. -
location was wonderful, just across the street from the beach and only a couple of blocks from the old town
Friendliness of staff. Reccomendations for excellent local restaurants UnInformed of Sarcozie's visit & therefore inability to get in or out of hotel
Location, location, location Clear specification of parking on web site
location, price and atractivness I does not have a pool and the room was small.
The location, and room size. The hotel was very clean. We would have liked 2 chairs in the room. The bar area was basic and lack atmospere, it did not open until 6pm. The roof terrace was closed the whole time we were there.
we were given room 401. We liked it because it was a renovated room with a view of the sea. The bed was very good. Towels were good and the supplies (soap, shower cap, body cream etc...) in the toilet were good.
Location Poor view from room. No coffee or tea making acilities in the room.
location excellent, quiet, very good maid service, plenty of towels the tv selection is not for english speakers, the shower did not have hot water all the time and hard to control, bathroom small for so called luxury hotel, no coffee or tea with room, no couch in room, staff was aloof
Excellent location for shops and beach. Very nice hotel. Room not quite matching external areas of hotel. Overall, very nice hotel. Rooftop restaurant/bar/seating area impressive. Room very average.
What I liked most about the hotel is that it is very central. You are near the sea and shopping and restaurants are also very close. Probably coming from a country that has a "smoking ban" I felt that the smell in the corridors was quite overpowering, and this was made worse by the fact that air freshner's were used. I feel the hotel needs some freshening up. Breakfast also was delivered incorrectly to us on our first morning. We did not get what we ordered and it was cold.
Location Room size
Location Staff not very helpful. Very slow to deal with guests at reception
Location Everything else. Room to small old dirty, poor breakfast, service. My Deluxe room was much small than my friend's superior ?
Interior and seaview, helpful receptionist Poor breakfast, leaking ceiling
nice view, good breakfast and restaurant
A spacious bedroom & bathroom A little strange there was not shower curtain or door in the bathroom
the location was ideal, the hotel very comfortable. In short, we were very satisfied.
Very friendly helpfull staff
The friendly and helpful staff and the fact that it was so near to the bay No
close proximity of sea and shops/restaurants. grandeur of a hotel with history and tradition.
Across the street from the beach, fairly good location with free internet. Excellent refurbished bathrooms. Staff was very friendly, particularly the bellman. Pictures on the hotel site do not match rthe ooms - stained rugs, old looking furniture, very hard beds and rough linens do make it a newly renovated room except for the wonderful bathrooms. However the size was perfect for two people and the rooms were clean.
Fabulous location and views, excellent access to old city
It was right on the Esplanade D'Anglaise and very well located for everything.
Standard of service. Having to pay for sun lounger.
roof top swimming pool, serviced very well by public bus service, complimentary bus service offered by hotel, opposite beach double beds do not exist, have to request that two singles be made up as double.,use of beds at rooftop pool had an extra charge!!!!!!!!!
Very nice stay. The view was beautiful. The personnel was courteous.Good food at Bleu Citron.
nice and clean hotel, pro staff expensive rooms, very expensive food, services, minibar etc. - not good value for the money. Besides, the hotel is quite far from the city centre (ca. 30 min walking)
The swimming pool. Friendliness of the staff. The room was very comfortable. Prices for sunbed and towels are too expensive even when using the hotel swimming pool.
Nice staff, clean and quite. Hmmm, a bit far from city, but bus is available!pillows could have been better
Staff and the room how ever we could not get a smoking room
Overall nice hotel, very good facilities and friendly staff The colours of the furniture in my room at 3rd floor was not very pleasant, the floor of the bathroom was with noizy tiles and the air conditioned had no functioned properly
Staff I asked for a non smoking room. Our room smelt very bad of smoking. My wife is allergic to smoke.
Room and sea view was excellent. Both the breakfast outside seating and to a lesser extend the roof top restaurant were extremely unhealthy. the breakfast outside area has many dozens of pigeons everywhere, tables, sunbrellas and outer walls were full of pigeons.
The roof-top terrace was a very relaxing area to sit. Also the conference meals and events were well organised. I found my bed too hard and the pillows too soft for my taste.
Room facilities was excellent, the pool area was lovely and the room service was very good. Two out of three concierge staff weren't particularly friendly, while one of them was excellent.
Very good food served lack of facilities,
spacious room, clean hotel, comfy
direct to the exhibition centre no internet connection
The location, close to the old district--shopping, restaurants, cafes. The Tram stop is directly in front of the hotel. The staff wasn't particularly friendly or helpful. The restaurant closed prior to the listed times. We had asked for a room with two beds and had one bed and one pull out couch that was not comfortable.
The hotel was clean, well located and had all the facilities we required in a well located city centre hotel.
very comfortable beds the fact that there were no tea/coffee making facilities
Well designed spacious rooms. Nice bathrooms and products.
The Room, it was clean & Comfortable The Service (Room Service) price for the breakfast was too expensive
The Hotel was beautiful. Spacious, modern & clean rooms with a lovely rooftop pool. The tram outside the Hotel was handy to take you to all the areas of Nice. Would highly reccomend this Hotel.
the bed everything apart from !!!!!!!!!!!! and including staff
Nice, comfortable, clean, good central posizion, excellent staff.
clean, comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff, excellent location
Well positioned geographically and staff were very good - always polite, courteous and helpful. It did not appear to have bar facilities.
Internet was not available in the room, there is no elevator in the part of the hotel I stayed - at least they could have offered to carry our baggages to the room.
Good, central location. If you are given room in the worse part of the hotel (we were) - no wi fi, no lift and zero noise protection - you can easily hear what TV channel your neighbour is watching.
it's amaizing, in the middel of the center of Nice, the best staff and the prise is very good for that location.
The place where the hotel is situated. (Location). The bed was small and hard.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The storage of luggage if waiting for your room or a late flight. The hotel stacks the luggage in the breakfast room which is open to anyone. It would be safer if locked away.
the location of the hotel was convenient to both the train station and old town. the accomodations were fairly typical of that level hotel. the staff was friendly and helpful, particularly when i had issues making an international call - the front desk attendant went further than i would have expected to help me make that call. i was a bit surprised when i asked for restaurant recommendations that i was sent all the way to old town. when i asked for something closer, i was advised to go to the restaurants immediately next door, not because of their quality but because it was a "What the heck, they're decent and they are next door" issue. i guess i would appreciate the hotel having a few quality restaurants in the immediate vicinity that they recommend to their guests who don't want to walk all the way to old town for a meal.
Good location, reasonable price Wifi reception was poor
the staff are helpful and the location is convenient Basic room, but not really expecting too much. Price of Petit-Dejuener was such that I didn't bother to have any.
5 minutes drive to Monaco
Large room.Staff were quite friendly. The bathroom and toilet of the room we stayed in have not been renovated for atleast twenty years, the bottom of the steel door frames were rusting and the tiles were cracked/broken of the wall. The shower head was only 1m of the base of the bath (I measured it)and yes there was no shoower curtain/screen.We requested a non smoking room and recieved a room with ash trays beside the bed (two singles pushed together to form a double).the nearest train station to Monte Carlo is about a 15 minute walk, not the two hundred metres as quoted on web page.We also requested a room with a sea view but were given a room which had its sea view blocked by trees when we were some of the few guests at the hotel and the majority of the rooms were empty.
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good aircon and facing the beach. Nothing.
The location is the only thing that is positive about this hotel, nothing else was positive during my stay The room was just dreadful. I stayed in room 317, and if you ever get this one when checking-in, try your best to get another one. The room looks like it wasn't meant to be a guest room. Apart from being very small, it is very dirty, most of the furniture is ugly and partly destroyed. You can tell that the Brice hotel hasn't spent a single euro in refurbishments over the past 20 years. The bed cover had cigarette holes and was particularly dirty, the small desk was sticky and must haven't seen a sponge for years, the chair is in a very, very bad shape, etc. By far one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in Europe.
We enjoyed the air conditioning and friendly staff
The friendliness of the hotel staff, they could not have been nicer especially when we were delayed returning home. The room was excellent and it was kept clean amd the maid service was excellent.
Value for money, Location
Location rusty water, hair on the bed, poor breakfast
Friendly & helpful team of staff. Good size room Good choice of breakfast Sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable
It was situated in a lovely area of Nice. The garden was the main attraction. Also very peaceful.
Enjoyed to quiet location, large cheerful rooms, delicious breakfast, relaxed atmosphere
