A total scam - they charge enormous fees for insurance. I brought a copy of my credit card contract and they refused to let me get its coverage. It cost more for the insurance than the actual rental. Avoid these guys and go with someone who is legitimate and honest. I will never rent from them again. Ever!

We prepaid for a vehicle, pickup after 12pm- there was no way to change the pickup time when making reservations. Our flight didn't arrive until 5pm but given that we had prepaid for our desired vehicle, it seemed logical they would have one there for us. During my flight I get a notice that they canceled car reservation since had not picked up yet, even though it was prepaid! Upon landing, the main phone number would not provide me a phone number for the specific pickup location, said that they would not refund my money, and that i needed to go to the location to see in any car was available for me, at additional costs to me. So we had to leave the airport, unsure if we had a rental car, get to the car agency, and they only have SUVs available for TWICE the price of the car we had reserved! So we are stranded if we dont agree to the additional price. Very much a "Bait and Switch". Remember, we had PAID UP FRONT, there was no risk of them loosing rental money by holding our reserved car for us.

The absolute most rudest staff & human beings we have ever had to work with. Customer service is horrible. I have already submitted a claim. Run away from this place! Complete scam of a company. Over charging for insurance. Staff will curse at you when you ask for paper work. My wife took a video of the situation which has now been posted all over social media. We hope we shine some light for those who would even consider renting a car here. Run away! Do not rent a car from the Europcar in Cabo airport area literally a few steps from the arrival & departure of the airport. We are disgusted & can believe my family had to endure these ruthless acts from these unprofessional people.

Pickup from airport was slow, number to call was hard to get through to. Vehicle was clean and ready to go, and rather easy to get through the paperwork. Drop off and return to airport was fine, the shuttle runs from the office. Return of deposit has not happened. Finding a number to call is nearly impossible.

It was terrible, they didn't send a shuttle to pick us up from the airport, even after repeated phone calls and assurances they were sending someone. After waiting for over 45 minutes, and having to get a taxi to the rental store location, it was closed... it was 8:30pm but their website clearly stated they were open until 10pm. After finally getting someone to open the gate, they informed me that they didn't have the car available for us and they were unable (unwilling) to work something else out for our group of 10. I DON NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL!

The attention and the quickness to respond was ok, however they changed the prices several times, including “mandatory taxes” and overpriced exchange values, that finally made the price 2x times bigger than the initial one seen here at the app, and the car was so old and age-worn that made us feel worried during all our trip, be careful and never use this agency.

Terrible, waited 2 hours and 40 min. First they gave me a car that had a flat tire, once fixed the mechanic realized there was imperfection with the front end suspension and recommended a change of vehicle. That took another hour, I asked to speak with a manager 3 times but kept being told his coming but never got there. Highly unlikely to rent here again .

The counter at Cancun Airport told us that the pickup shuttle will be there in 6 to 7 minutes. It did not arrive till 45 minutes after! The car was not ready and we had to wait 15 minutes for it.

We arrived in the terminal at the MEX desk at 13:00 but were told to return to the desk once our luggage had been collected. When we returned we then had to wait for another group to decide whether they wanted to use MEX. We then had to wait for the shuttle to arrive and go via the International terminal before finally getting to the Car Hire station. Waited 15mins before being seen to then be told that the car had been released because we had not presented ourselves at the station, not at the desk in the arrivals/baggage hall, at 1pm. Terminal staff should have alerted us to the fact as they were shown the booking details at the desk. According to the agent the car was released at 3pm. We had arrived at the car rental kiosk by 3pm. We were given the options of a) paying an extra $342 for a larger vehicle which was at the car hire station; b) wait a MINIMUM of 90 minutes until a car of the grade we had booked turned up; c) go to another company. The justification given was that all conditions were stated in the booking email. Conditions WERE stated but didn’t fully relate to the experience at the airport. Having chosen to take the larger vehicle, all paperwork was completed by 15:29 but the vehicle was not actually presented until 1550. The condition of the car was reasonable, one of the wind mirror covers was missing, but overall we would be extremely reluctant to use MEX by CAS ever again.

Even though I already had an 11-day reservation and insurance covered by my own personal policy, they tried forcing me to either accept a $2000 deposit taken on my card or scam me into getting their insurance which was twice the amount per day of the rental itself. Given those choices, I refused the rental altogether and made alternate arrangements.

We booked a car for $140 for 6 days. I checked several times to make sure the car rental was at the airport, not with a shuttle. When we arrived, and finally found an attendant for U-Save amongst the crowd when you exit SJD (Cabo) airport, he indicated we would take a shuttle to the car rental office. We still waited 5-10 minutes for the shuttle. When we finally arrived, they said there were mandatory insurance fees of nearly $60/day, which would bring my total closer to $500–that’s more than triple the price I had reserved with. That was supposed to be the total cost. After much back and forth, they said there’s nothing they could do and that this 3rd party insurance is required in Mexico. We were almost going to agree, about to start the paperwork, then they said they would have to charge $1500 as a deposit for incidentals. This was NOT a hold, this was going to be a charge that they would refund. I’ve rented cars before and I understand a deposit for incidentals. But this amount seemed outrageously high, especially in light of the forced insurance. We decided to skip the car rental altogether and just used taxis/Uber to get around. It cost us much much less, and definitely less headache. I would never ever book with U-Save ever again. And generally be wary of renting a car in Cabo for that matter, as they just try to impose additional costs and triple the anticipated cost.

I made reservation knowing it was going to be $150 including fees and taxes. We had to extend one more day due to flight cancelation, which added $50. However, other taxes and fees added so I ended up paying $275 somehow?

Cons:

The pick up and drop off location are never staffed and I have to wait for the hotel staff to call a Budget person to drive over, even after I have a reservation at a specific time.

Pros:

They never brought the car. We tried to call the local office for several hours, and they didn't answer the phone. Unacceptable.

Cons:

Everything. The rental never even happened.

The rental cost was only a 1/3 of the price after paying insurance and other services costs. Rather misleading. QEEQ also said the Hertz was located in downtown San Jose Del Cabo which is not convenient. I was pleasantly surprized to find out the Hertz rental was within a km of the airport

Cons:

Not given someone else our reservation since we were not there on time. My SUV was given away to someone else because we did not get there at 12:00pm. Our copilot had a family emergency he Of course had to leave and we were held back for two hours. Needless to say I brought all my family (6 people) and the lady said, “Your car was given to someone else because you weren’t here by 12:00pm. Sorry.” And they did not accommodate us to anything else because they were out of SUV’s. She also said since I reserved it but didn’t pay for it they gave it away. I was so upset. Moral of the story being extra cash because we had to pay triple of what I had reserved my car or just pay the reservation online.

Pros:

Shuttle brought us to the rental car area with 10-15 companies all located in a complex. No one was at Dollar. We walked around for a bit and the office was closed, no cars around. We ended up having to go with a random company nearby and paying much more.

It took 2 hrs to get my car after traveling 10 hrs. horendous. Was told that the rental cars were at the airport by Thrifty. Drop off office was not where they said it was.

Cons:

Worst experience ever. They did not have any vans that I reserved. They had no cars that would accommodate luggage. Why did I bother reserving when nothing was available. Told us to talk to the guy/company next to him that he was talking to before we walked up. They could accommodate us for more than 3 times my reserved price. Thrifty could care less. They need to be removed as an option. We had to then find transportation to the hotel. I will not use Kayak again.

Pros:

There is a reason this shows up as the cheapest rate when you search via the internet. What they don't mention is the required mexican tax liabilty insurance that for us was DOUBLE the car rental rate. Everyone at Thrifty rental was furious in line at this hidden fee. Staff was rude, lines were long. Myself, husband and four kids had to wait over an hour for a DIRTY car that was way smaller than what I reserved. Never again.

staff was very rude, tried to overcharge me multiple times (added more days, insurance I didn't need, etc.). Overall, it was a terrible experience and the price charged for the rental pales in comparison to the other hidden fees that are added on once you arrive. I will never be using this service again
