I know these are extremely difficult times, however, I had reassurance from staff at the hotel that I would promptly receive a refund of five nights within a few days. There was lack of food and services at the hotel, and as it is remote, I felt unsafe there with my teenage daughter. Staff took a photo of my passport and credit card and told me it was normal procedure for a refund. As you may well guess, I am absolutely not happy have not heard back, just an automated response.
Remote, not being able to cater for dietary requirements because lack of supplies (we went hungry first night and prompted us to want to leave - it is too far from town to just “pop out to eat”, supermarkets pretty much non-existent at this time). Of course not their fault because of border closures. However, transparency before booking in would have been the appropriate thing from the managers. Lack of shuttle buses to town.
Selina is a well known name with many locations all over the world. We had never stayed at one and thought this one looked like a good one to try, close to the beach, has a pool and had cute teepee hut options to sleep in. The pool and hang out area was great, could use a ping pong table though. There is a shared kitchen onsite (wasn’t noted on booking.com though-mentioned to staff on arrival) the beach is only a 15 minute walk away, a bit of a hill but not too bad.
The staff were the least welcoming staff we have had in almost all our travel experiences. What a huge disappointment, almost ruined the experience. They also weren’t tidy-we we’re there while the COVID19 announcement emails came through about doing extra cleanings etc. however in the 3 nights we were there, there wasn’t paper towel in the bathroom, we watched dirty plates/cups from the restaurant sit by the pool area for two hours and the sponge in the kitchen wasn’t replaced. The staff didn’t share any information about what was going on during our stay and would barely tell us where the mini market was(just down the road you would have arrived from San Juan about 10 minutes)clearly hoping we would just spend money at the restaurant. The teepee we stayed in was what we pictured, except the privacy flap on the door is poorly designed with no ties to attach it to on the inside and keep it from flapping around with the wind. Quite poor value to be honest.
all as expected
Pictures for the small room indicate that the bathroom and the shower are in the room. But in reality there are outside the building (in the next one) and this is then a shared bathroom. (The picture shows a complete different bathroom) While you make the booking, there is no information on that. The guy and the desk apparently knew about this complaint. When I talked to him about it, he immediately came up with the proposal to check my confirmation mail. In the conformation mail it is indeed said "shared bathroom". So, even though Selinas know about the misleading information, it is still there. To prevent unnecessary complaints like this one, please give adequate room-information and don´t use fotos of other bathrooms. P.S. The guy at the desk didn´t leave the impression, that he will take care of it and change the misleading information on the booking side.
Very nice breakfast options
Super loud music during the day; really hard to sleep in the Tippie with lots of wind; bathrooms for tippie Guests only partially working
The property itself was nice
I didn't like how you had to pay to leave the property and it was very far from everything.
