Location and view of town, estuary, river, castle and mpountains in background. Plus helpfulness of staff
All the above plus secure parking. Having to pay extra for parking, and being told it was full for parking iniatially although it was very very obviously not.
Good location. None.
Really good location and facilties, lovely little town
The location close to the harbour and the city centre. Hardly any parking places close to the hotel. Best parking is in the harbour.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, great location, nice view of the castle and cathedral right across the river, decent breakfast (included in the room price). Good value for money. We happened to be there during a 3-day fiesta, held virtually right outside, and the partying went on til 4am. Did I say loud? It's not the hotel's fault, of course, but worth checking if you plan on sleeping!
The location and the friendliness of reception staff resturant not available
Thw staff were pleasant and helpful;rooms light, airy, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely view.Good breakfast. Tea and coffee making facility in room would be good
Room seemed brand new, very modern and comfortable. Included breakfast was good (continental). Parking was easy. All for less than €60.00, excellent value for money.
Excellent hotel suitable for access to the picos if you have a car.
The room and its view, the proximity to both town and country and the helpfulness of the staff. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Good hotel location, at 5 minute walking distance from the village center and at 100 meter from a supermarket. The Hotel breakfast room veranda offers a nice view over the mountains. Rooms are pretty basic, spacious, but ok for the price. The corridors are nicely decorated, which made you expect just a little more of the rooms. Make sure you take a room at the back side of the hotel as the hotel is siutated along a buzy main road. It's a pitty that there's no garden or a place outside to sit around though.
Great rooms + connecting lounge with views on the top floor with space for 5 people. Close to potes. Next to the main road into Potes so some traffic noise
Nice, well furnished and spacious rooms with, in our case, a superb view of the mountains. We needed parking space for a trialer which the owners readily provided. The breakfasts weren't very exciting.
The hotel was in an excellent position on the main road approx. 5 minute walk from centre of Potes. It is apparent that the hotel has been recently partially re-furbished. We stayed in a newly re-furbished room which was spotless, tastefully decorated, well equiped and had a very comfortable bed. Bathroom also newly re-furbished to a high standard. The receptionist. The receptionist and the receptionist. Ignorant, rude and un-helpfull young woman who had a phone permanantly glued to her ear in deep conversation with friends. So much so that she was unable to verbally welcome us on arrival and continued her rude conversation during the entire check in process. This ignorant behaviour was also noted whilst serving other guests within the hotel bar. We stayed at Valdecoro for two nights and without exception.....on each occassion we passed by reception she was there........phone to her ear.
clean and spacious room, very quiet, easy access to town and shops/restaurants room facilities a bit basic, e.g., no tea/coffee in room.
In the hotel no body spoke english
Good location. Excellent rooms. A very well run hotel which is very easy to explore Potes.
The only thing that I like about this hotel is it's central position in the town. I found that the staff were not very friendly, the room was dark and oppressive and the restaurant food left a lot to be desired.
Not very much. Totally un- appetising micro waved dinner courses which I found un- eatable.
The hotel is conveniently located just off one of the main entrance roads to Comillas and it is just a few hundred meters away from the town’s centre. Staff was very kind and helpful. I had a large and very clean room. The free wi-fi connection was excellent. There is also free parking at the hotel which is great if you get to it by car. Breakfast was good. I definitely would stay there again. There was a swimming pool by my room window, at the ground floor, and people bathing there were making a bit of noise. Had to cope with it. But it was hardly a reason why I would not stay there again.
Stayed in this hotel last year with family for 2 nights and returned agin this year for a further 2 nights.
The village was very nice. There were some very nicerestaurants about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel should not have a 4 star rating. If you want a budget stay in the area it would be OK. The hotel had a restaurant, I am glad we did not use it for dinner. Breakfast was included in the hotel price but was very poor. The coffee was undrinkable and the selection of food available very poor.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Very satisfied
Decent WIFI, big lounge area, free parking, central in Comillas, room nothing special but not bad either TV signal was a bit weak
Great balcony with wonderful views!
wonderful views, staff incredibly helpful and friendly
Warm and friendly welcome with attention to detail. Stunning views from bedroom.
The owners were delightful and made you feel at home, going out of their way to assist even down to lending you their own umbrellas when it rained. The breakfast was delicious with small little pancakes that melt in the mouth. The rooms were comfortable and led onto a balcony withh terrific views
The view from our room was stunning. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The sound proofing could be better.
The hotel was at a great location (at the Pixus de Europe), capacious, comfortable, well accessorized and beautiful rooms. Big parking next to the hotel. The staff did not speak English. We had difficult time finding the place because the name of the village on Booking site was of Camaleño and the Hotel was located 1Km from there (Look for little sign on the main road for San Pelayo)
idyllic rural setting; beautifully appointed old building, tastefully restored; balcony off room; mountains nearby the breakfast was only ok; something hot like bacon, or even cold meat or cheese would have been nice
This is a very nice small hotel in one of the most beautiful surroundings imaginable. The views from the rooms and the yards is fabulous. Sorry we didn't allot more time for this stop.
A lovely rural hotel in a farming area, very friendly helpful owners. The Hotel had a truly relaxing and family feel. The sitting room area felt very homely and was full of books and magazines, and other things belonging to the family. Even though we spoke very little spanish all our needs were fulfilled. The mountain views from our bedroom balcony were stunning, and we loved the sound of the sheep with bells around their necks. Some late night Spanish arrivals were very noisy. This could happen anywhere.
Superb location and helpful staff.
We loved this hotel. The decor is inspired, the staff wonderful, the atmosphere excellent. Peaceful at night despite being just off the main Panes to Potes road. Good restaurant a few metres away. Oh! and excellent breakfast too. rather hot at night as there is no air conditioning but this was a very very minor problem.
Very nice parador Bedroom was very noisy from adjoining rooms.
Very helpful staff, good location, clean rooms and breakfast choice.
We loved the location, the cleanliness of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the price were really competitive. Absolutely nothing. I could not find anything to fault this stablishment.
This is an absolutely magnificent hotel, superbly priced, delightfully staffed in one of the most beautiful parts of Spain. We were offered a choice of rooms, settling for what was effectively our opwn cavernous one bedroomed apartment with modern bathroom, spacious lounge and huge bedroom. The setting, just minutes drive, or a beautiful walk from the beatiful town of Potes is breathtakingly beautiful. Fuente De, effectively paradise on earth, with its cable car and stunning walks is also just a half hour drive away and absolutely unmissable. It is a family run business and betwseen them all, the family could not have been kinder and more helpful. I really can't think of anything negative to say about it. Nothing at all
We were made most welcome, the staff could not have done more to make our stay very enjoyable. fablous location for visiting teh Picos.
The decor in our bedroom was rather an acquired taste with silver-coloured furniture and metal tulips as a bed head! The bed was very hard. As we were the only guests on our first night, we were asked to go and have breakfast in the restaurant cafe a few metres away. This was very basic, toast and coffee, with the locals smoking around us. The second night was better as there were other guests and the breakfast room in the hotel was open and there was more choice. Parking was along a fairly busy road.
The Posada was a little difficult to find but when we did the welcome was superb. The owner took us around the property and showed us the gym, spa etc which we did not realise they had. It was tremendous value and I would certainly reccommend it, and stay there again.
Comfortable, extremely friendly and good value for money. Would definately stay at this hotel again.
I loved the character of the hotel as it did not have the "part of a hotel chain" feel. The views from the front of it and from the rooms at the front of the hotel are fabulous. The location was excellent; in the country side but 1km from Potes (walking distance). There is a small outdoor pool which is lovely to cool down in. The food was good and the staff were lovely also. I would stay here again. Breakfast was not served until 8.30 AM
An attractive hotel situated one mile from the centre of Potes. Stunning views of the Picos de Europa mountains. Large car park, two restaurant areas serving very good food, including the table de hote menu which is what you get if you book half board, otherwise there is a more extensive a la carte menu. There was a wedding reception taking place whilst we were there which is a good indicator of its reputation. There is no nightlife in the immediate vicinity if that's important to you (it wasn't to us).
Excellent location and comfortable, friendly staff
friendly restaurant good but deathly quiet
Good location for exploring the Picos region. Buffet breakfast - excellent choice and lots of it. Pool was great (although a little cold for us feeble brits). Couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room. As it's situated on the main road, you do get a lot of traffic noise first thing in the morning with the lorries whizzing past - making you relucant to keep the windows open during the night.
Nice Location witin walking distance of Potes. A fair value for money hotel and would happily stay again.
Very accessable to the Picos mountains Very basic ammenities
Staff was very helpful suggesting things to do in arae. Room was comfortable, clean,
relaxed atmosphere, good location easy to find.easy walk into potes where there is a large selection of restaurants.
Staff, food, town, freindly owners. road could be noisy if you left your windows open, air conditioning would help but not essential
Wonderful location and landscapes. The hotel is environment-friendly and very nice. The outdoor swimming pool only opens at 11.00.
The location and the breakfast are good and the area around the hotel is very claen. You must pay for the pool inside, outdoor pool is not kept clean properly,no chairs on the balcon of the room. Rooms are small.
The staff were very welcoming, the rooms clean and the hotel very well designed The bar did not open (but we did not ask).
This was a very expensive stay as we had mistaken the cost per room for the total cost of the hotel and when we checked out the total cost was therefore double what we had budgeted to pay. It cost us £600 for a 2 room 2 night stay!! What annoyed us most was the fact that this did not include breakfast or use of the indoor pool or Spa - everything was chargeable on top. We felt that we had been completely "ripped off". Whilst this was a nice hotel, it was no better than any of the other 4 star hotels we had stayed in this holiday which had averaged out at 60 euros per room per night, one even including a super breakfast. We would not recommend this hotel or stay there again because of this.
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean and very beautiful window's views!
Alberto who met us at the door and showed us our room was very courteous and helpful in telling us about the local area and provided us a guide that we utilized to visit the local area
Great hotel, Alberto the owner is so eager to please, and pays attention to detail. Rooms are rustic and simple, with impressive partial views over the Eastern Picos (if not cloudy). Breakfast is fantastic, Alberto personally brings you into the room and ushers you to your perfectly-arranged table. Nice living room with honesty system of help-yourself drinks. A lovely place to stay, and accessible for Potes and Fuente De. Sound insulation in rooms isn't great (if you have noisy neighbours), and you have to drive to reach eating places (short drive to Potes).
Good value, friendly, beautiful building and setting. The owner isn't always on site during the day when guests arrive. They have to wait, or phone for him. It wasn't really a bad point for us, but it would have been a problem for people with no knowledge of Spanish.
Location, overall quality of accommodation, friendliness of owner. Five years ago, we stayed at this guest house and breakfast was a highlight. Now, it's a bad point. It needs selection of cereals, free availability of milk, bread and toast, pastries, tea and ripe fruit. Too many things in the bathroom.
Owner very nice allthoug does not speak english. Great mountain view from the room. Room very comfortable The room wasn't so clean
A beautiful house and gardens. Very clean and tasteful decoration.Stunning views of the Picos Mountain range.Plenty of space for car parking inside the gardens. There were no staff in the posada. If a guest required assistance or information they had to phone the owner on his mobile. We only saw Alberto when we went to breakfast and checked out.
we liked the peace and quiet, although found it strange that we were alone there all the time
Nice surroundings helpfull staff lovely building The hotel was remote so a bar would have been nice at the end of the day
Fantastic place, great views, excellent service. No evening meals.
Historic building, sympathetically resored and appointed. Beautiful outlook over the surrounding countryside and (apart from one local festival night) quiet. Lack of a bar or restaurant and effectively no nearby facilities, meant that we had to drive elsewhere in the evening for dinner which impacted our full enjoyment of the hotel's location. Availablity of an English tv news channel such as BBC or WiFi would have been an advantage.
The hotel was easy to find,Madam was excellent ,the accomodation was very good and clean. Breakfast was also very good No evening meal. if there was it would be perfect. non of the local retaurants didn,t open till 8.30/9.00pm
Good English from receptionist. Beautiful interior design and bathroom fittings. Good breakfast. Problem with flies in bedroom very off putting especially as friends in other hotels didn't experience this problem.
The staff couldn't do enough to help in any situation No restaurant but staff told us of some good ones close by.
This is a gem of a Hotel set in a very quiet village with fantastic views over the countryside. Just a short drive to some excellent beaches and small towns. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast should have been included in the price. Ignore booking.com driving instuctions.
Our room had a wonderful twin-view tiled balcony overlooking the town, palace, and several churches (very romantic) yet it was only a 5 minute walk to the centre of town ! Room was very clean and warm. Beautiful tiled bathroom. Breakfast was more than 'continental'. Free parking. A little tricky to find on narrow lane but worth it in the end.
The Hotel was convienient, the breakfast was good, as much as you wanted. Price was good for what was on offer. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our room appeared to smell a little damp at times, I think this was due to lack of extractor in the bathroom but unless you intend to spend a lot of time in the room this is not a huge issue.
We had a very nice friendly welcome from the family. The room was airy and bright, with re-furbished bathroom. No aircon but not a major problem. Breakfast was ample with good supply of hot coffee and toast.Very peaceful and relaxing. Difficult location to find with car, and possibly a challenge to anyone with walking difficulties.
Within easy walking distance of the town (5 mins.) Many places of interest to see. Fantastic views from hotel. Excellent breakfast. Hotel perfect but access narrow and steep. Also bar prices in the town are very steep compared with other towns on the Costa Verde.
good friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic location, overhanging the beach. Comillas is a wonderful little town to stay for 2 nights. It has an old and well-to-do centre which is about 200m inland. The beach is quite separate and not spoilt by shops or fuss. Most other Comillas hotels are more in the town or on the outskirts. From Hotel Josein it's a 300m walk up a slope and down a slope to get to the town, but everything in Comillas is walkable anyway. Parking is at front of hotel and space is limited when busy so no guarantee of a space. Breakfast was absolutely fine, orange juice out a machine, bread, good croissants, variety of cereals. A good value 2 star hotel, very laid back atmosphere, a simple no frills set up. Be ready to speak Spanish not English.
I did like the staff, most of them were friendly and nice to us. Being able to use internet for free was a bonus. Excellent location, by the beach. The humidity
Very nice hotel, just on the beach of Comillas. Worth visit El Caprichio of Gaudi, Palacio El Sobrellano, town of Santillana del Mar and Altamira Cave. The hotel staff is very friendly and the room have a great view of the ocean. The breakfast can be improved.
beach view, beach access, clean, friendly, comfortable, easy to find,Comillas is a lovely town within easy walking distance. Disappointed that the restaurant was closed. I was concerned about the hotel's non-refund policy - losing the first night at short notice is reasonable but the possibility of losing the cost of the whole stay was worrying.
