The staff and owner were absolutely superb.
The Estalagem de Sangalhos is a great clean and well maintained hotel. The staff made all the difference extremely helpfull and nothing was a problem
Nice Room with all that is needed. Good breakfast. The Hotel it´s not brand new
Very nice and helffull staff. The room was a bit humid and "smelled" a bit...
hotel very well located ,very quiet , good restaurant , the staff is very helpfull
Its a nice and quiet hotel for a weekend retreat.
Beautiful palace, confortable rooms, good breakfast, very frienly personel
I loved the food, it was excellent . The wine also was very good i didn't like the service and the pool closed
The setting is extremely good and the project to refurbish the hotel has been a great success.
Imposing hotel which has kept many of its early 20C features but provides modern standards of comfort in rooms and spa. Hotel is obviously dependent on business conferences at this time of year (autumn). Pity the lido is no longer in use - perhaps seasonal?
The hotel is fabulous and has a lot of potential but the inexperienced staff (or poorly trained) who do not pay attention to small details do not allow it to reach its full potential. The young lady on reception had NO customer service skills nor did the maitre D in the restaraunt. The food was good almost gourmet but the presentation, lack of vegetables and service down graded it. The champagne we ordered arrived in our room at 11.30
It's a very beautiful building, with lots of old details still visible. Dinner was a 5* experience, my compliments to the waiters and chef. The indoor swimming pool and spa facilities were very nice as the outdoor one was already closed when we stayed there. The wooden floors made it noisy; you could hear the upstairs neighbour walk around and you would hear people passing by in the hallway. The indoor spa facilities could be improved by providing things like scrub salt and turning on all the facilities (sauna) during opening hours. Dinner wasn't only a 5* experience in service, but unfortunately also in price, compared to regular portuguese restaurants.
Nice hotel, recently refurbished, now with modern room amenities but having maintained the historical spirit of the public spaces It was empty ... no athmosphere. Probably only a few (less than 10, I would think) rooms occupied.
location, historical building with renovated rooms Breakfast should definitely start at least at 7 in the morning. Having to wait on the door for breakfast until 8 is not ideal
Fabulous place-a dream would love to return
Right in the centre of the town, easy walking to restaurants The parking garage was a little difficult to find
Nice staff. Nice hotel. Nice decoration. Good cleanliness of room. Very confortable. Free Wifi connection. Free parking for car. Great location. Breakfast could be a little better.
The only nice thing about this hotel was the view from the bar on the top floor.
Friendly, helpful staff
The room in general
only location two persons, but two price of hotel, very bad, because customs organization is the same.
beauty of the landscape, quitness of the place and good gastronomics quality and service.
The simpaty of the staff
great service and landscape, delicious breakfast, peacefulness. mini TV does not fit to otherwise very nice room.
room, the view, pool no wifi (wireless)
Room was big, clean, with outstanding view of nature. Very relaxing place. This hotel has not his own restaurant.
The setting of the hotel was lovely and quiet. We were a little disappointed with the restaurant, it had a menu but only seemed to serve a choice of either a meat or fish dish.
The localization of the hotel inside the beautifull Curia park. The outside pool in the middle of the trees. Bikes available for free. Lack of information about other facilities like the Spa.
The hotel was good for relaxing in a peaceful enviroment. Hotel was more for older people than young families.
Size of the room and bathroom. Cleanliness of the room and hotel. The variety of the breakfast was not great.
Good value for money - free bicycle hire. Excellent swimming pool, and loan of towels for pool. There was a folklore dance group on and so the hotel was busy, yet they still managed to find us a table to watch the dancers and really looked after us.
The peace and quiet and beautiful setting
bikes were avalable -- the emptying of the glass container at 07.00am in front of our window, the lack of of map of the surroundings facilitating the biking in the surroundings, the lack of a small boat to visit the lake
Very relaxing, beautiful spot on the river
loud. not much insulation.
Very good value, friendly, clean and tidy None
Friendly attentive staff, good continental breakfast, clean room, great bath, ok elevators (failed three times), lovely location, convienient access to the velodromo event. elevators could be better
helpful, friendly staff. Clean room no problems. noisy air conditioning, and badly behaved people in ajoining room (no a fault of the hotel, but not pleasant)
The relaxed atmosphere and the friendly way in which the hotel people took care of you. The driving instructions after the exit from the main highway. It was confusing to the point of one getting lost.
Good working free wifi, . Staff is very friendly and helpfull we booked 3 nights and cancelled 2 nights because of the room , the management should be ashamed of the devastating room and bed and of lack of cleaning staff. The hotel smells bad. Breakfast is below every comprehension you might have of a breakfast
This was a nice, inexpensive European-style hotel. It was basic, but had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
This hotel is a family owned and operated which brought a home feel to my stay, great recommodations to local eateries and regional specialties. No complaints at all, very nice and great stay for me!
The Staff speaks only Portugese and this Pension really needs some renovation, inside and outside.
For the price, everything was ok in terms of confort and cleanningness.
Great service and very nice staff. We had a lovely time at the Pensao Lourenco. The surrounding area was beautiful, especially Luso.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Free parking. Clean room. Excellent value for money.
the host family were wonderful and would do anything to make our stay comfortable, without being intrusive. Great value for money
Very charming old building, gives a feeling of home. Relaxed, no-stress environment, with good reception and attention. Excellent thermal area, near many interest spots. Lots of parking space. Excellent quality for price. Could have used AC, during hot summer nights it is very convenient.
Travel back in time. Very simple and honest. Calm, serene. Openhearted personnel. Interesting small town. Rather difficult to find in spite of satellite navigation... Quite worn down...
Good location Thin walls, very poor sound insulation
It had all the facilities to stay for one week, one month or even more, it was very comfortable and not expensive. very difficult to find it.
Good relation price/quality Clean room old facilities
inexpensive Toilet did not work.
Hotel was quite empty and queit. Staff was polite and unnoticeable. Room was very nice with nice kitchen and big balcony. Hotel (except room) and surrounding (for example, pool) looks "old"
The fact it allows dogs; it has a nice swimming pool; good areas in the room. The room is a bit noisy and it could be a little more clean.
Room was good, location was good, and the staff very helpful and friendly!
Our 2 bedroom appartment was clean and had lots of room. it had most basic needs and was serviced most days. Requests for additional crockery and cutlery were fullfilled quickly. Communication was limited. There was only 1 member of staff who spoke english. TV channels only had local Portugees , no english. No radio or misic. The kitchen , cooking facilities were limited. No electric kettle or toaster. The noise from upstairs rooms was very evident. No spa or pool facilities were available as adverised.
the apartment was rather noisy.the website for curia clube is out of date.it might have looked like that when it was built but sadly it is long past its best.it was all rather tired and seemed such a pity it had been let to rundown.
