10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything..the rooms are beautiful, the location excellent, staff are friendly, plenty of room amenities, great shower, fluffy duvets, free parking!
Cons: No fridge in the room and the sleeper couch for my son was very uncomfortable
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, beautiful room, clean and fresh smelling bedding, awesome decor, great views, Nespresso machine.
Cons: No staff on site. Very minor however as the restaurant managing the check-in is open late.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location location location. Close to the city center, the decoration of room & also the spacious room we had.
Cons: Clock tower awoke us at 7am. It’s loud. :)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very large room. Quiet. Terrific location - near local tourist sights, shops, restaurants, pedestrian areas, and train station. Friendly reception.
Cons: All good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: There is no breakfast
Cons: Included breakfast would have been nice
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located, next to Munster, back to back with the associated US-Mex restaurant (good value and portions), with breakfast options on the Vordergasse nearby. Excellent size rooms and beds, plenty elbow room, Nespresso coffee and biscuits provided. One I would go back to.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room and space, thoughtful items in bathroom even though I didn’t need them on this occasion.
Cons: Checking into restaurant (probably better once done once) but issue as my room had been given to another man who they said had checked in using my name which was concerning- how did they have my name? Noise from hall with men talking past 11am/loud echo of corridors. Some road noise.

Pros: We have a 2 nights holiday just to see the waterfall. This hotel was just what we needed. Very clean, very good breakfast, fancy rooms, close to all restaurant around and what I needed more... was very quiet. I have a special Thank you note for Ms. Sabrina from the reception, who was extremly kind, professional, with a perfect english for foreign tourists, actually, the perfect employee for a hotel. Thank you, we had The Best Time.
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful mix of modern and antique. Staff very friendly anf kind.
Cons: The choice for breakfast was limited. Probably you need to get up early to enjoy fully. Very bad communication / interface with "booking.com". Although we reserved for 2 adults + 2 kids and this was also visible in the reservation, we had to pay more as at the hotel the reservation apparently was only for 2 adults!!!!
7.0 Good
Pros: atmosphere and cleaness
Cons: heating. too cold the room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Some of the friendliest (and best) staff around, they made our stay so enjoyable. The property itself is amazing, the way the rooms are designed using the historic parts of the building are fantastic. Breakfast was amazing, an excellent range of foods available. Location of the hotel is perfectly situated next to the old town and train station, very convenient.
Cons: Minibar / fridge in room would be handy. Additional charge by the hotel for bedding for 4 people wasn't disclosed by booking.com, even though the booking was made for 4 people. Not the hotels fault but booking, com should build this into the quoted price when searching,
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It's only a block away from the train station and at the edge of old town so you can walk everywhere. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great with lots of options. The style of the hotel is unique.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Their service is the best I've experienced! The receptionist ladies were super nice and friendly! Sabrina gave me so many useful suggestions about visiting Schaffhausen and Rhinefall. The night shift lady helped me heat my food even in a very late time. Their restaurant server was the nicest person! He gave us warm regards every time he saw us and even learned to say "Good morning" in our language! Their rooms are comfortable, the decoration of the ancient building is fantastic! We had an unforgettable experience in Sorell hotel Rüden!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful. Really friendly and helpful. Our flights was delayed and the kitchen was closed when we arrived. Francine the receptionist who was just going off duty drove us to a local restaurant where we had a wonderful meal. Her husband and daughter worked there and she waited and drove us back to the hotel again. This kindness is worth any money!!!!
Cons: My only complaint was the narrowness of the bed from the wall on one side. I kept banging my knee into the frame of the bed.
6.3 Good
Pros: Unfortunately the hotel rooms are not air-conditioned and the weather was 36%, quite uncomfortable as you can imagine to sleep.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, attractive decor, lovely garden, excellent continental breakfast with great bread. Only 5-10 minutes walk to station and old town.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: quiet & nice hotel & garden; good coffee for lunch;
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Both dinners and the breakfast were superior. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: A little high priced. One of the nicest places we stayed, but the most expensive.
7.9 Good
Pros: This was a last minute booking. The day of, actually! I was very lucky since there was a music festival in town and accommodation was heavily booked! Although within walking distance from the train station and the old town centre, approx 0.5 of a km, its ALL UPHILL. Certainly no fun with luggage!!! The # 4 bus that takes you about halfway up the hill (first stop). I wish I knew about this beforehand. Also a flight of stairs to get to reception. Furniture in both the room and throughout the hotel is VERY SIMPLE solid but again VERY SIMPLE. Would even be called 'dated decor' from a design perspective. The pink tub chairs next to reception should be recovered, they are showing signs of heavy use on the arms and very faded fabric. Breakfast food the next morning was also very simple and basic. Nothing gourmet here but no surprises. Everything overall was very clean and staff very friendly, polite and helpful. No complaints during my stay. Would return.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Set in a charming, quiet village, we received a warm welcome here. The room was family friendly and good value for the area. We had a great evening meal, beautifully presented and in such a friendly and relaxed setting. The building was full of character and following our meal we had a drink in the bar amongst many locals. Breakfast was also lovely. I would love to return.

The front desk staff took care of us quickly, the Restaurant was amazing with superior food. Finally, the Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of choices. We would stay here again, if in the area...obtw, 2 KMs from downtown was very convenient as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice restaurant downstairs, best place to stay if you have anything going on in BBC Arena. Bus stop round the corner.

Overview Reviews
The Hotel & Restaurant Alte Rheinmühle enjoys a romantic location right on the Rhine river. Schaffhausen can easily reached by bus. The hotel offers fine cuisine, free parking and free Wi-Fi. The Alte Rheinmühle features a nice riverside terrace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was basic continental breakfast. No croissants or pastries, but different breads.
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautiful building, lovely location. Good bathroom, very nice breakfast.
Cons: Room bit basic for price, tv in wrong place.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Setting was beautiful, right on the river and such an awesome old place. Lovely dinner (expensive but probably on par with rest of Switzerland) and local wines were exceptionally nice. Great breakfast included with good choices available. Friendly staff.
Cons: Bed was older and a bit saggy and the pillows were so high they were uncomfortable. No complimentary tea or coffee.
5.0 Okay
Cons: We booked a deluxe room with river view, but we got a plain standard room with noisy street view. After talking to the staff, the deluxe room turned out to be available after all and we could switch rooms. This "deluxe" room turned out to be much smaller than anticipated, it would barely fit the extra bed that we booked. Also the room was very plain, no airconditioning, nor any ventilation of any kind, and not much of a river view. Although the extra bed is advertised at 25/night, we were charged 50/night. All in all, we felt that the whole place is pretty basic and way overpriced, we left in a hurry
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect
Cons: Deficiency of electric kettle or coffee-machine
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location next to the Rhein river. We liked the atmosphere of the Hotel and the Restaurant. Good food and service. During dinner and breakfast we could enjoy the view of the nature. Location at about 6 km from Schaffausen.
7.7 Good
Pros: Wonderful location on the Rhein,
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were cozy with traditonal decor and immaculately clean bathrooms. Easy to get to the Rheine Falls in nearby Shaufhausen or take a cruise along the Rheine to Stein am Rheine for the day. Very relaxing!
7.7 Good
Pros: Great location on the banks of the Rhine (close-ish to the ferry terminal too), beautiful rooms, very helpful and friendly staff, nice food and sensible wine selection. Close to perfection.
Cons: All this loveliness means it is quite pricey!
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is comfortable and very welcoming, with a excellent ambience. The restaurant is very good for the evenings , with good food and views of the Rhine, which runs right along side the hotel. Breakfasts are fine too. Although a few kilometres out if Schaffhausen, a bus service provides easy access for anyone travelling by train. It is also wasy to access boats for trips along the Rhine.
6.0 Good
Pros: Wonderful riverside location with excellent restaurant. Close to bus route to Scaffhausen with its ongoing rail connections.
6.4 Good
Pros: very nice setting, on the bank of the rhine; very nice garden
Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros: Beautiful location literally on the banks of the Rhine. Lovely old place with very nice food. Especially enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Free parking.
Cons: Despite the lack of views, our rooms were comfy and quaint.
4.8 Okay
Pros: nice river location.
Cons: no rooms with with view!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a little difficult to find, but well worth it. It was beautiful and on the Rhein River (so romantic). We did upgrade our room for a bigger bed but it was well worth it. The room was like a suite and room and bath were beautifully appointed. The hotel restaurant was a bit expensive but the food and service were very good.
Cons: Nothing.
7.2 Good
Pros: Food and location
Cons: Alittle hard to find

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice breakfast. Walkway to Schaffhausen around 15~20 mins, close to bus stations. Quiet.
Cons: We were on the top floor, which is why the WiFi connection was poor, but otherwise it was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist (a young girl) was super nice and helpful! The hostel is very nice and clean, with a lovely common area and garden.
Cons: There were a few bugs around the place - maybe a pest control could be useful
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the environment and the experience living in a old castle
Cons: the building is surrounded by a rocky path, no concrete smooth road surface for luggage, a little hard times to move the luggage in.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, helpful employees. Nice, quiet location. Perfect for us travelling with children. Simple standard, as to be expected from a youth hostel.
6.3 Good
Pros: The guy at the recetion was nice and friendly. It is closer to the bus stop for Rhine falls Neuhausen side.
Cons: The location was bit hard to find as we came in late evening. The room was too small than we expected. We had to go to the floor downstairs for the washrooms. Wi fi did not work in our room.

The Old Town is within a 15 minute walk.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location is near the train station.
Cons: It was too hot in the room and noisy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I really appreciated being moved into a private double bed room when I had booked a dorm. It made is a lovely value for the price and balanced out that the pub directly below the room was loud and smoky. The bed was very comfortable, the location is excellent for arriving and departing by train, and the bathrooms are very clean.
Cons: Smoke inside the facilities. Could have been separated better, smoking and non smoking spaces. It would help if ear plugs are proved because the pub is rowdy. The comfortable bed helped make those a non issue however!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is superb! Right next to train station, 1min walk. And the hostel feel very vintage (in a good way) and classy.
Cons: Can do better with more sockets, but thats fine for me as i was lucky to occupy the whole room when i stay :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a large room right next to the showers. The house itself was very quiet even tho there's a pub downstairs. The beds were very comfortable. House has lots of historic character. Soap in the bathroom was much appreciated. Bathrooms were nice and clean. There's no bike room but there's a secure place to lock bikes outside.
Cons: For the price we paid, a simple breakfast would have been a reasonable expectation. I wish there were a guest laundry or at least a place to hang some clothes to dry. It's a hostel but there's no kitchen to make our own meals or store cold foods. The hostel is in a noisy location, near the train station and bus stops, so earplugs are a must.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, just a few steps from the train station. Checkin is efficient, once you know where (if the door does not open, just go through to the bar in the building and ask them). Checkout very simple, too. Rooms and sheets and provided towels are clean.
Cons: I don't mind basic accommodation at all. However, for a bed in a basic shared room, located in a slightly older building, the price could be a little bit lower. (I'm not sure whether prices were slightly raised because I was there during a music festival.)
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good location
Cons: Bad facilities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotless clean
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Most comfortable yet in 15 days in Europe. Clean. Great location.
Cons: There was no one to check in at the desk, went to the pub, the bartender spoke 0 English and had to ask for a patriot of the bar to translate “reservation” which was fine and she was friendly. Was the smokiest bar I’ve ever been in and there were 8 men staring at me which made me quite uncomfortable checking in for lodging. The room/bathroom were clean and confident table but smelled Smokey.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: situation near railway station
Cons: noise from other room, impossible to sleep one night, no toilet paper first day, no light in the corridor immediately wwhen getting out of the bathroom, the hotel bill says sky bas and lounge, and not hotel, difficult to obtain refund, no breakfast, have to out in the morging to ge coffee
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and the rooms were spacious. The bathroom was a little small, especially to be sharing it with other rooms. But it was clean and had everything needed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Paulo is very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Our room was quite large and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The property is located right across the street from the train station, so convenient if you are traveling by rail/bus. This is a shared bathroom property and we did not experience any difficulties using the shower/toilet area when we needed and it was clean. Right around the corner you enter the wonderful old town area. There’s a restaurant/cafe/bar downstairs that is affiliated with the hotel. Our plans restricted us from eating there, but enjoyed a couple of coffees. The restaurant appeared to have a nice menu.
Cons: If you’re a light sleeper you may want to request that your room faces the back courtyard rather than the train station. We faced the train station/street. The noise did not bother us, but if one wanted to sleep in, it might be difficult.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Generous sized bedroom. Good location for access to the town and station
Cons: No en-suite. Shared bathroom is quite small. No wardrobe or rail to hang clothes yet plenty of space for either.
7.1 Good
Pros: Room is very big. Just next to the train station. Very convenient.
Cons: No lift. Only one small toilet and bathroom for the whole floor.
7.9 Good
Pros: The service + the location
Cons: Cleanness of the bathroom
7.0 Good
Pros: Convenient for the station and where I was visiting
Cons: Very basic facilities.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly. The property is very close to the train station and free overnight parking is within a short distance. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants. Comfortable bed.
Cons: There is a fair amount of street noise as you would expect in this location. Shared bathroom may not be to everyone's liking but it was very clean.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: the price / service ratio is excellent. you get a lot for small money!
Cons: the barkeeper, who calls himself "the boss", was very rude!
4.6 Okay
Pros: it was close to the station, and the studio was large. nice big fridge, with a new lightbulb
Cons: bizarre. reception is actually the bar, where you're more welcome as a local drinker than as a hotel guest. cupboard doors in room were half hanging off, cooktop was filthy, grease dripping off rangehood, lightglobes out everywhere, hardly any power points, maintenance poor, building worn out. cleaning staff walked in on us a few times.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Park Villa is a beautiful older (>100 years) castle style and very personable hotel. The inn keeper "Max" was a wonderful host, and made excellent recommendations to us for our stay and adventures. After just a few days I felt like I found a new friend in Max, and his staff was also great. The location although initially hard to find, was actually a wonderful location near parks and naturally beautiful areas. Every evening I witnessed local people gathering for some wine or beer in his outside courtyard, just emphasizing the comfort and hospitality of Park Villa. The rooms are very nice and were in complement with the hotels history, but with all the modern conveniences. We took dinner at the hotel our first evening, and the food and service was outstanding, as well as the wine recommendations were spot on. Breakfast was included with our reservation , and it was like a buffet at your personal table with eggs to order. I will long remember sipping my red wine every evening, and talking with Max before retiring to my comfortable room.
Cons: There wasn't one thing I would change about Park Villa, except maybe spend more time with the very knowledgeable host.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: ambiance, owner involvement, dinner excellent and value for money, owner eager to please, breakfast good, quiet room, relaxing environment, parking OK
Cons: no complaints

Pros: Very friendly and welcoming staff!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely and personally decorated ”castle” hotel. We are 2 adults and 2 kids and had a combination of two rooms, meaning there was plenty of space and 2 bathrooms (great!) Breakfast was really good. The location was also nice - even it was a bit outside of the city centre, it was easy walk to there.
Cons: All of the staff did not speak English but knowing many other languages and being super friendly, it did not matter. There is a railway pretty close making some noice throughout the night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was directly opposite a park with a playground and was an easy walking distance from the train station and the center of town. The breakfast was great with a wide variety and plenty to keep us going for the day. The lovely staff took good care of us. We loved the old charm of the building with all it's period features and furnishings.
Cons: We booked a family room with 2 bedrooms. The second room was off a common area separated from other guests by a sliding/folding door that couldn't be locked. This was OK for our kids but I'm not sure I would like it if the kids were under 10 due to security concerns. It is next to the train line which wasn't too obtrusive with the windows closed, but because it was quite warm at night we needed to have the window open, so it was pretty noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was one of my favourite hotels I stayed at in Switzerland. Beautiful hotel and superb hosts...if you’re feeling inspired you could write a book here!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed with our family for two nights in a very quaint privately run hotel. The host was very attentive and responded quickly when we needed something. I would also highly recommend having a meal at the hotel restaurant. We have been traveling for nearly 4 weeks and it’s one of the best meals we’ve had so far. Many choices and every item we had was delicious!!
Cons: It was right next to the rail line so if you have to sleep with your window open it can get noisy. With it closed there are no issues as I believe the windows are double glazed.

The front desk staff took care of us quickly, the Restaurant was amazing with superior food. Finally, the Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of choices. We would stay here again, if in the area...obtw, 2 KMs from downtown was very convenient as well.

Cons: In addition to the 170 euros for one room reservation for one night, I had to pay additional 15 CHF for parking the car in their garage, 4 minutes by walking from the hotel, because they have no parking area outside. This was the negative side of my staying at this hotel.
