The scenery around the hotel is stunning, the rooms were immaculate, we stayed in the room right at the top, beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the food was absolutely fabulous, worth a detour to to sample
Clean and comfortable. Our host, Martin (quite a character), and his wife were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. We ate two meals at the hotel's restaurant and were impressed by the standard - there's also an impressive selection of fruit brandies and spirits to choose from to round off your meal! The breakfast - included in the price of the room - was also very good. No real complaints, but the bells of the nearby church could be an annoyance for some...and do note that in Germany a single occupancy double room may contain two beds, rather than a nice, big double bed to sprawl across!
This is a very nice quiet hotel. It is easy to reach to Basel in just a few minutes. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Will visit again when i am in the area,
We appreciated the friendliness of the people concerned We did feel cold until the radiators had warmed up in our rooms
The hotel was quiet yet only five minutes walk to the railway station, from where Basel city centre could be reached in 30mins. The breakfast was perfectly adequate and the hotel staff helpful and friendly.
The staff was very kind and she made a egg scrable for us in the morning. This hotel is very clean and there is italian restaurant beside hotel.
Owner and his wife - perfect people
Good location close to Black Forest and Switzerland. Good room with Balcony. Good Breakfast. Friendly staff Restaraunt next door is closed down at time of our visit (September 2009). However there are other restaraunts within 15mins away (walking)
During our stay we like the hospitability thet we have from the owners and peple thet working there.
Free wireless internet and serenity of the surroundings No multi lingual staff or English speaking channel (CNN, Sky News etc). The hotel doesnt really cater for English speaking tourists but if you can beyond that, the views from the rooms make up for it.
good and very kind
Staff were hardly present during 4 night stay but on the morning of departure they were anxious to make sure that I was out promptly.
friendly helpful staff, good food , English spoken as well, magic location with very comfortable room No - it met all expectations
Everything was perfect
Beautiful location in the Schwarzwald. Excellent views and good mountian air
Attractive rooms with seating. The bathroom was of nice size and had a good shower. Pretty balconies overlooking the Black Forest. The restaurant was nice. The hotel was nice, but there isn't much else in the immediate vicinity as far a dinner out.
Very quiet place - very friendly staff - honest and typical regional kitchen
Lovelly place, it's really the countryside, very quite and with a lot of nature around. The room and bathroom are big and comfortable. Good breakfast and great availability of the staff. We wish we could have stayed more than 1 night :-) For summer we suggest to replace the eiderdowns with something more fresher and appropriate for summer season ;-)
The staff were friendly. The hotel was quiet. The room was very comfortable and the ensuite was nice. No tea/coffee making facilities in room. No reception, so got lost on arrival.
Friendliness of staff, quality of the food Some light kitchen smell came into the room in the evening due to the kitchen chimney ending just above our open window
This is hotel is located a charming setting. The staff were warm and welcoming and the room was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Nothing The room was the worst room in the hotel. a very bad experience. never more...
Very helpful and polite staff. Excellent dinner on both nights we stayed and excellent breakfast. The bedrooms were extremely small
The staff was very, very friendly and we enjoyed all the fantastic art work, which made it feel like a museum. No.
First night was in a tiny loft room but they changed this on request. The setting, the staff and the restaurant were all superb.
Good breakfast: Uncomfortable bed, smell of cows with meals.
Being in the black forest.... The bedroom window was right alongside the road, which although in the coubtryside was quite a busy road. It had no curtains or useable blinds to shut out the light or noise from the road
no reception, nobody there, just a key of the room/hotel and nobody bothers you type of breakfastchinese restaurant nextdoor/in hte hotel gave a bad odeur
tranquillity The internet is not good and I had to call them for help and the hotel overcharged me Euros 22 for the call that should have been free since I paid for the internet service.
Overall the hotel was clean and efficient The mini bar was not refilled during my stay. I was unable to take incoming phone calls on my room phone.
It was short
The welcome was very good. Room clean and practical. the bathroom was very good and the large patio with umbrella and chairs was particularly useful. A beutiful view of a bend in the R Rheine no
The location is good, easy to reach and centrally located as long as your plans are to go shopping, drive down the 'weinstrasse', go to France, Basel, etc. The service in the hotel was good, albeit 'ein wenig unpersönlich'. The menu was straigtforward: all from the grill! Not inviting to have dinner here every evening.
Comfortable, reasonably priced, quiet location on the Rhine, convenient for Basel. Actually a Christian retreat, but all welcome.
Nothing except steff co-operation. I was allotted room from where i was getting view of construction work instead of valley view which was shown on net.
Very quiet and well located to commute to Basel with Beuggel train station next to the hotel. Very large rooms which can accomodate a complete family. No TV in room and washroom outside
excellent location with easy train transport to basel bad.
A small hotel in a beautiful old castle. Cheap rooms and friendly staff.
Cleanliness. Helpful and friendly staff. Location and directions to the hotel from the train station were poor
Very easy to find in entering the town. Friendly towqards cyclists and our particular needs.
Pleasant staff location A little noisy with the kitchen below but hotel very comfortable
Hotel Danner is a a clean hotel with appropriate comfort. It's strongest point for us is the location in Rheinfelden, which allows to take a drink and a walk in the evening. there is still some room for improvement at the desk service
The staff was attentive to our needs and we had a very good meal in the hotel dining room. The room was very clean and comfortable. We took the train into Basel for a day of sightseeing. I think it is more geared to the business traveler than American tourists, but they made every effort to meet our needs.
Breakfast was decent A little expensive for the area and amenities
We used this hotel as stop in between Pescara and Netherlands (1000 Km drive). Family with two adult children. Price quality is very good (Euro 105; 4 persons room with two double beds). Parking free around the corner street btw 18:00 and 08:00. Hr. also possible Hotel garage for 7 Euro/day. Breakfast is O.K. From the chart the hotel has very good diner facility (price/quality); only turned out only possible after 21:00 without reservation; the day we arrived the tables (not too much) were occupied. We arrived pretty hungry, finding out we had to wait untill 21:00 or go alternate. We choose the lates and found good Italien restaurant some 300 m walk accross the street in city-shopping-street.
Location Room standard was poor.Generally the hotel was very poor. The hotel has the potential to be a lot better but I will not be going there again.
Staff were very hospitable, hotel was quiet, breakfast was excellent. Parking facilities excellent andthe restaurant very first class. Bathroom was poorly lit.
Location. Attentive Staff. Noise from the cars in street since there was no air conditioning in the room (I had to leave windows open) - September
Nice restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet. Rooms are a bit small, but OK for up to two people. Parking was a bit of a challenge. No AC, so the rooms were quite warm at night (even with windows open). This was in June. Internet is not free like some other hotels, but provided by T-Mobile.
Nice location in charming little village. Very clean area in every respect. Very dogfriendly hotel (we took our little dog with us) . This is one of the best hotels we ever stayed in what concerns service quality and value for money.
Clean, quiet, excellent breakfast Hard to find, very far from main highway; asked for wireless Internet codes to be available at check-in - they were not until the next morning
Friendly staff. Overpriced. Food has a lot to be desired.
The hotel is located on top of a hill in a small village and we were lucky enough to be there for their yearly Octoberfest. We had a great time and the food was outstanding and the beer was great. Martina was the best waitress that we have had so far on our 61 day trip through Europe! They could have a menu in English. Thankfully Martina was there to help us out, she speaks English very well!
We did arrive late in the night, so we did not have opportunity to try the cousin. But staff was friendly and we were aloud to have some drink still. Breakfast was good, clean room. The hotel itself was very quit what I did like. We were a pair and in the bath was not enough towels, just one large for us both
