The quietness. The walls were thick enough so no noise traveled through. Hotel located in a hof and there is a sound/fire door between the lifts and the rooms. The courteous welcome and jhelp(much needed) with the parking of the car as the space is very narrow. Hotel appeared to have acted promptly to my request that the Dom/Tourist office be notified that the times it was open on Easter Monday were not displayed. By the time we returned to the Dom the man in charge was addressing this issue with a helper. The bedroom lighting was superb. The bedside lamps could be adjusted and they had full strength light bulbs in them, this was the best lighting we had in a four night variety of hotels over the Easter break. The check out was effiecient and politely handled as there were many problems with the phone line for credit cards and there was a queue waiting to pay. The level of consideration and helpfulness from the staff was a pleasing and positive experience. I felt that the on line photos gave a misleading impression of the position of the front of the hotel in relation to the Schloss. It is a very cut off Schloss and I see that the logo reflects this but not the photos. I also thought the map offered was inadequate(no street names)
The staff were very friendly
the big room, in the city, breakfast was good, nice staff
Helpful staff, convenient location (bus stop right in front of hotel), good breakfast. Mattress was uncomfortable
Welcoming and friendly personell. Parking on site. Clean and functional rooms. Proximity to town. Good breakfast. No other facilities available e.g. restaurant, bar, communal room. No English speaking TV programmes e.g. Sky news or CNN. Everything was clean and functional but not very inviting.
It's very cosy small hotel with antic furniture and flowers in the pots. We booked two double rooms, they both led to the big terrace where it was very nice to relax in the armchairs. In one of the rooms (#6) there even was a kitchen with a fridge, teapot and cups! One of two days of our stay there were total problems with the hot water (it was absent!)! Another day, vise versa, the water was too hot in one of the rooms. Temporary problem is the big construction right next to the terrace and a big сrane right over the head that works all day long, but I believe after the finish of this construction this problem will disappear.
Comfortable room and quiet. Short walking distance to center and castle. Helpful, patience, friendly staff, great breakfast including fruit. Limited/on street parking.
Spacious room The weinstube was not open. Especially in the evening this was disappointing.
Very quiet location. nice garden Wash basin not fully attached to wall! Bathroom window was not obscured glass
The hotel was very simple, but the staff was honest and willing to make our stay the best possible. Not exactly, they are a very simple pension, maybe not according to its price, but good. The food in restaurant was really not good, but breakfast was superb.
Car park handy for hotel. Off a busy main road.
Difficulty of access to the rooms, no lift, uncomfortable staircase
close to city centre and old town area
Good breakfast, big room, location perfect, good private parking
closeness to center and station
Near city center and palace. Good breakfast. Free parking. Quite even the room is near the street. The room is in 3rd floor without evelator. The clerk while we checked-in is not very friendly when she is busy handling at bar.
Enormous rooms with a separate lounge and kitchen facilities. It was surprising to be taken to our rooms in another building 100 metres down another street.
The room was excellent and the parking next door was very convenient. Its central location was also very helpful. It would be helpful to have tourist guides/maps available in the room in the language of the guests, if possible.
A very big apartment with a nice view. A good breakfast with very kind staff. A good location if you want to see the city of Schwerin.
The reception staff was very helpful and clear even with my "german speaking abilities" which they kindly received warmly. The only oddity is the placemnet of the TV on the desk and easily visible from the room specifically the bed... But all in all is was a very good stay. Thank you.
Good location and friendly staff.
The position of the hotel right in the centre of town is great. Within easy walking distance of the Schloss and lakes. Right oppostie the hotel is a great breakfast place offering a good range of croissants etc and coffee. You can eat for 6€ instead of 13 in the hotel. Parking is not 'on site' but round the block in a public park haus, however it is fairly cheap at 5€ per 24 hours.
The location was excellent. a quiet corner, but very close to the centre of the town. The desk staff were friendly and efficient. The room was functional, but large enough and had almost everything we needed. We were given a kettle to make tea/coffee when we asked. Good value all round. The entrance was slightly off putting when we first arrived. Horrid plastic flowerrs. The room had no little safe for valuables. Also no air-conditioning, but this wasn't a problem.
The Mercure Schwerin is ideally located for walking around the Old Town and in close proximity to major sightseeing spots like the Cathedral and the Castle. I was surprised on the morning of my departure when a member of the cleaning staff burst into my room around 8am in order to ascertain whether I was indeed vacating the place as per my reservation. Fortunately I was already up and in a presentable state.
comfort and location in the centre, as a traditional gasthaus
Location great for visiting the city, staff friendly, rooms clean, nice stay
Everything was fine. Good breakfast, fresh rolls, freshly cooked eggs.
Placed in the town center. Good atmosphere.
Comfort, cleanliness and central location, as well as friendliness of staff. Good breakfast, too. Very difficult to find. Even the satellite navigation gadget gave up.
Fabulous staff; very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast both very good, and the atmosphere of the bar/restaurant reflected the welcoming attitude of the staff. The room itself was very comfortable, with no noticeable street noise. Location right in the heart of Schwerin, only a few minutes walk from the Schloss, makes looking around on foot very easy. I'm sure the outdoor area, on a pedestrianised alley rather than a street, must be very nice when the sun is high enough. Parking is on fairly congested public streets, and although the hotel provides a 'parking permit', it may be difficult to find a carpark in close proximity to the hotel. A number of reviewers have mentioned difficulty finding the hotel; if you approach the area of the Dom from the north-west side, it is well sign-posted.
