Somewhat faded glory
Inherently attractive older hotel which needs some adjustment to be more user-friendly For instance, Bath supplies came in fixed containers that didn't work and there weren't outlets to plug things in. Staff were very warm and helpful.
The person who checked us in, Andrew, was more than accommodating. He was so nice and provided some small extras that made my son very happy.
close to University Ave and UW
beggars nearby; not disclosing there's a parking fee
Free coffee at the cafe Room with a view on the 15th floor, spacious and comfortable Apples Morning paper available Elevators always prompt Cafe staff very helpful
It was a surprise to pay for parking when it was free last year and did not indicate charge on the website. In general website lacked information such as hours for the cafe.
I like the location, in the heart of the U-District. Wifi good.
The musty smell encompassing the entire room and the front desk offering to spray the room with cleaner instead of offering a different room because it was entirely booked.
Great location w/ parking
Mattresses on the old side
Location not equal to price
Vintagey hotel. Nice little cozy sitting lounge; staff super helpful, accommodating and friendly; responded to minor requests quickly. If going to UWash is your mission, this is close to the university and probably better for you. The monorail is a few blocks' walk, so that's an option for able folks. It does have relatively easy freeway access for exploring greater Seattle from the north. Coffee shop below nice for morning coffee. Beds were comfortable and the place was reasonably quiet.
Our first night in Seattle, excited to see the city. For $300 ($721 for two nights total) we had no view from a smallish room. No hotel rooftop view, either. The surrounding neighborhood felt dicey--'yellow alert' safe with mostly people begging at the grocery store two blocks away. My teenage daughter and I walked around to find a resto and decided it felt safer to drive, because the whole neighborhood was run down (tho new dorm? construction everywhere) and several characters hanging en masse on the sidewalk a couple blocks over made us feel unsafe. Bad vibe. Not a good intro to Seattle. It's far from the downtown. Since you have to pay for parking at the hotel, it sucks to pay even more to park downtown. Other folks at hotel seemed happy to be there but I felt bad about choosing this one for our first two nights.
Lobby was nice. Staff was nice
Parking was horrible. Paid outrageous amount to stay one night .the was no better that econolodge, or motel 6. But paid like it was the hilton
We got upgraded to a suite, it was perfect for our family to stay overnight. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Seattle.
The staff member that checked us in told us we would be able to check in early around 3:00 p.m. and that we could wait in the lobby or they would call us on my cell phone as soon as the room was ready. We never received a call, so came back after dinner around 8:00 pm to pick up our key. Thank goodness we didn't wait in the lobby! The staff that was working when we returned was much more competent and friendly.
Nice rooms, very comfortable if a bit minimalist.
No fan in the bathroom means you get an impromptu sauna. Although it was lovely, you are definitely paying for the location.
The staff was very helpful. It was also a good value. And despite the sketchiness and peeling walls, it wasn't creepy.
The rooms were a bit sketchy, although clean. There was definitely a lingering smell of smoke and I started sneezing whenever I entered. The bathroom had peeling paint, and the worst thing was the non-existent business center. It was two computers in the middle of the lobby where everyone checks in, so they were literally on top of you, and the printer was over by the reception desk, so it wasn't even a room.
Location was great and the quality of room for the price was excellent.
Beautiful lobby. Great atmosphere.
Location of TV's.
Location for the football game
The tax shown on webside is wrong. It showed 8%, but in fact you take more.
The view from our room and the comfortable bed and flat screen TV
Elevator key system
The staff was top notch. Complimentary shuttles to the downtown area was great.
The proximity to our student daughter.
Check-in was painfully slow. Breakfast information given at reception was wrong.
free continental breakfast was nice. The rooms were pleasant
beautiful view of downtown seattle, unique decor, walking distance to shopping, good complimentry breakfast and shuttle service.
