Helpful staff. Good food in the restaurants. Being rushed through dinner as there was a large party in.
We loved the location and the breakfast was first class, cooked to order too. The bedroom was on the small side.
Good breakfast and excellent meal at Chambers The car parking arrangements
The location was great. The breakfast was even better. All in all a great stay. n/a
Very comfortable and well and conveniently situated in the town. Did not find one of the check in people very friendly.
Location and external appearance. Cracks in the tiles; holes in the walls; dank view of the internal courtyard. Before I stayed at the hotel I believed it was a three-star going on four, but now I know it's going on two. Time for a total internal refurbishment...
The reception staff in particular were very helpful
Have stayed here before and found it a pleasant and convenient place to stay in Shrewsbury. Will most likely be back again in the New Year. Thank you
the location is perfect and a beautiful old building also the bathroom was really awful
The Follies in the park
Hotel is getting rather dated
Staff were polite and friendly. Checkin and out quick Room looked very shabby and tired.
everything was perfect good food/rooms excellent staff
Service for dinner in the golf clubhouse was far better than in the hotel where it was very poor Dining rom service at dinner
excellent meals Hotel looking shabby but I understand it has recently been taken over.
not a lot the price - very expensive for what was in effect a motel room the room itself - no heating or hot water room very badly located - outside, to another block & up a fire escape which was badly lit to try and find a room number that was not lit. What if it had been raining as well as dark? I asked for a double bed and got given a twin room with no explanation.
The rooms were small so a bit of a squash with a travel cot.
A step into a gentler time. Beautiful scenery. Most welcoming. Lots of history. 'Shabby Chic' style.
Pleasant staff who served room service Room was cold - although it's still august weather pretty chilly for time of year!!
The hotel has lots of character, in lovely surroundings and the staff were good as they paid attention to detail and we felt welcome. n/a
A picturesque country hotel with excellent staff and great food, just a short car journey from all the shops you could want
Beautiful restaurant, lovely setting. Whilst reminders about responsible drinking are relevant for weddings, the note in the bedroom painted a mental picture which detracted from our experience.
Travelled to see relatives It would have been better if the tea cups in the where replaced after afternoon tea, which is what we expected
the gardens and the view executive bedroom much too small for two people
Attentive but not intrusive staff and excellent evening meal. Nothing
General atmosphere of a proper hotel The crackling accopanying the excellent pork dinner was to say the least a dissapointment
staff, cleanliness, comfort of rooms not applicable
The room was perfect for our wedding night, the views we beautiful from our bedroom window, the staff were very good, would stay again.
Very comfortable, excellent staff and food, just an overall very pleasent stay. Hope to stay again soon. Thank You. No dislikes.
Exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel with fantastically friendly staff who made every effort possible to make you feel welcome. Pub downstairs a little noisy but nothing discomforting.
Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and excellent food. Very nice environment in which to spend a weekend away.
Friendly staff. Cleanliness of room. Food very good Room facilities a bit basic but reasonable given cost
we had a lovely evening meal ,staff were very nice , very cold room ,broken shower water went everywhere but my body and it was held together with tape, we felt springs badly in matress ,
I have stayed at this hotel previously, but not very a few years. Rooms have been improved but the hotel has maintianed it's historic character
Lovely old building. They tried to charge me for breakfasts I hadn't had because they assumed I was with a group of others staying at the same time.
There were no coathangers in the room and when we asked for some it was like we were asking for something special. Water not particularly hot for a shower.
close to town, food stairs abit dangerous
Close proximity to the centre of Shrewsbury We chose to pay extra for breakfast, but it seemed as though it was too much of an effort with the lady in the breakfast room - we ended up just having tea, cereal and toast because it felt 'uncomfortable'.
lovely and warm on a very cold weekend
I only stayed one night, but my overall impression was of an efficiently run hotel. There was nothing I disliked.
Good location, close to shops, restaurants and attractions but on a quiet(ish) road; easy to come and go when we wanted and a car park nearby. Service a bit uninspired; certainly not the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. Decor a bit tired and old fashioned.
Very central setting. Welcoming owners. Parking is an issue in the mornings
Queit cozy place but within few minutes of town square. Family-run informality, excellent breakfast. The breakfast window of 8-9 on a Sunday was too early, too short. The room cleaners also worked only till 11 on Sunday which was surprising.
The bathroom tiles and the wifi I found the brekfast staff unpleasant. It seemed as if he didn't want to be there - he keep banging the plates and cups about - in fact another breakfaster commented upon this. He was quite grumpy. Maybe he should look for a new job. The cleaning lady and the young girl were much nicer.
Clean and tidy, staff helpful and friendly No Parking, tv reception was poor.
situation, very convenient could do with a few finishing touches
The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
Friendly greeting on arrival, comfortable room and a great breakfast.Would stay again.
Comfortable bed. Lots of clean white towels. Interesting old building. Handy for river. Noisy (near building site and pubs). Instant coffee with breakfast. Lots of stairs to climb with suitcase. Overpowering "air fresheners". No thermostat on radiator. Owner not particularly friendly.
Excellent staff, excellent facilities, no fault in any way
The service was excellent and very welcoming, they could not do enough for you. The room was excellent, very clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and you could choose what ever you wanted. There were not any bad points.
A warm welcome in a relaxed setting. Great location for shopping and going out! The room was clean and attractive and had everything we needed for a short stay. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the service again was friendly and attentive! Toilets in restaurant in the morning were not clean. In fact extremely dirty!! We were there quite early but I do expect toilets to be cleaned before you open.
Fantastic hotel, comfy bed, good bathroom, clean and modern, great service and lovely breakfast! Full length mirror really needed in the room and thicker curtains to block out the light!
Rooms clean and well furnished. Excellent bathroom facilities, brilliant shower and plenty of hot water Parking can be difficult in Shrewsbury but staff are helpful in guiding you in this respect.
Friendly staff and the room was modern and well fitted out. Bathroom had good facilities. Breakfast good in a pleasant surrounding. Room very small and cramped. But OK for a 1 night stay or for just a single person use. Would not want to spend longer.
I stayed here for just one night, I usually stay at Holiday Inn or similar. I found the quality, comfort and friendliness of staff to be quite exceptional, one of the most comfortable hotels that I have ever stayed in and I will be using this hotel in the future. My only niggle would be a slight draught from the window but saying that, the age and caracture of the building makes this acceptable.
Staff were efficient friendly especially the manager who made our stay very welcoming. We would definatly be recommending your hotel to friends and family and would definatly return in the future There wasnt any
Excellent breakfast No mirror in bedroom near socket plug to dry hair, & not much room to walk round bed. Room 1
Room was well equiped, comfortable and every thing worked. Breakfast was very good and price about average for what we got. We would do it again. Noise from the street every night, people and traffic. Lack of on site parking is very difficult.
The room had lots of space and the bath room was lovely. Bed was very comfortable Needs to be a mirror in the main room. There was only 1 large and 1 small towel for myself and boyfriend.
Morgans was a clean modern pub/ hotel No heating on first night. The prices charged were not the same as shown on the internet - ie Breakfast was more expensive than advertised. Traffice noise was bad
Pleasant surroundings and good atmosphere No shaver points or telephones in room
Good room and good breakfast, what else is their to say. Road noise
Nice hotel - excellent food on offer in the pub. Lovely cooked breakfast.
Quiet location, great housekeeping standards and great little restaurant!
Staff very friendly - location was great - easy to get to - prices very reasonable - Air con in room very noisey - mentioned at time of leaving - didn't get much sleep
Nice rooms, friendliness towards children
Excellent value for money. Spotless and very welcoming. Spacious rooms with every need catered for. Lovely breakfast - you can eat as healthily or unhealthily as you want!
The bed was very comfortable - best night sleep for ages! Heater was broken and though pointed out, the portable heater didn't appear
Manager and reception staff excellent. Bed as very comfortable and bedroom well fitted and very clean. The bathroom was reasonably spacious with good fitments and spacious shower with seat... a good touch.
Nothing - staff were slack, and our room was not made up one day. Would not stay there again. Hard to find - need clear signs on corners near the Hotel, and a big sign on the building as you approach.
The very friendly. helpful staff. The large and clean rooms and large shower. There was hardly any hot water for teh shower, the information in teh room said it was possible to have food on an evening at teh hotel, we were told that it wasnt possible. Also, you charge £5.45 for a glass of wine - thats totally over priced!
Very efficient, clean and friendly
bed, breakfast, warmth of room. evening meal .
Location good for us
Comfortable clean room of acceptable standard. good value for money Food facilities very poor.Unclean tables, chipped glass jug, tumbler for wine, food of very poor quality and presentation even for budget hotel. It definately let the rest of the hotels standard down. £30 for two drinks two starters two mains one pudding that were definately not worth the money.
the bed and the breakfast
The position of the hotel is very quite and the food was very good and meals enjoyed
Friendly and helpful A varied choice of breakfast
There was no fruit on the breakfast menu allso no continental breakfast
The friendly staff
Access to local attractions
Very good value for money in modern, friendly and comfortable hotel Would have liked a wider range of snacks and nibbles at the bar
Pleasant and friendly staff, rural surroundings in good location, adequate meals and generally satisfactoty service
Helpful friendly staff who even arranged order-in food when I was back late one night. Not too impressed with the hotel's own evening food meat quality and vegetables a little under cooked. But this is based on one dinner experience only.
The bed was very comfortable and the room heated quickly. The evening meal was excellent. No heating in bathroom except towel rail which was pretty inadequate
We were very impressed with the Wroxeter, the staff were very helpful on all matters, the room ,facilities, bed and the view were everything you would need for a perfect stay, infact we were so impressed,we encouraged our friends to spent time here too. No
Very comfortable room with spa bath. Lovely to be back for our 1st wedding anniversary.
Ecellent hotel great setting and good location for Shrewsbury. Good rooms and very nice staff
Small luxury hotel with excellent service at a very good price. The standard room we stayed in was surprisingly large and had a great view of the surrounding countryside.
A lovely place to relax and enjoy the scenery
It was probably the friendliest hotel I've ever stayed in. All the staff said hello & seemed to mean it. no
The breakfast was fantastic... if the orange juice had been freshly squeezed, it would have been perfect!
Charming Staff, Beautiful Building, Nice Room and Decor
staff made you feel like a friend no
The fact it had retained its character- in keeping with the town and its history Nothing really
very pleasent staff made very welcome beautifull 4 poster bed very comfy lovelly room nothing
Easy walk to town centre No car parking although staff did direct us to an NCP carpark a few minutes walk away.
We thought the bedroom was lovely (stayed in the 4 poster) and it had lots of character. Bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was also extremely good and staff friendly. The sink did not drain properly and unfortunately, despite the lovely bed, we had a terrible night's sleep due to lots of loud and drunken people in Shrewsbury making their way home on a Saturday night, right in to the early hours. This is why we have rated the value for money particularly low as we paid quite a lot of money for what turned out to be a terrible night's sleep. Even with the window closed you could still hear the noise and police sirens wailing past! I would therefore recommend the hotel but not the room.
The food was first rate and so we did not need to eat anywhere else. The staff could not do enough for us. We will certainly be going back again. There was a certain amount of road noise during the night, but this should be improved when the new glazing is installed, during December.
Central location, friendly staff, excellent food, a lovely garden patio at rear away from the noise. A very old building fronting onto a busy street and no double glazing. Very noisy at night. Parking 1/4 mile distant.
Central to shopping centre and the riverside towpath.
The location to the town center was excellent Tiny carpark. Parking for only eight vehicles, two rows, one against the building and the second row directly behind.
friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast.
The hotel is situated very near to the shopping centre, has its own car park and the rooms are comfortable.
Guy who owned the hel was ver very helpful good location not applicable
The breakfast room was better than average. Staff willing but somewhat uninformed on the question I had. A bit tired and too small room for the price. View of the parking lot and curry shop
A good location for the town centre easy access to shopping and the river Severn. Ability to leave car parked free of charge due to good location. Standard of room was not particularly good (room 9) was on the top floorothers appeared better.
Very nice staff, superb clean. Wonderfull
Pleasant, comfortable, friendly hotel. Good decor, bedrooms small but adequate, clean ensuite. In a good position for the town on foot with some lovely walks along the river. Car park is small but had no trouble with a space, alternative is pay and display parking nearby. Full english breakfast a little sparse and limited time slot - 8-9am.
Good food. No toothbrush and no toothpaste. The customers should be well informed of this beforehand. As a frequent traveller, I can't really accept this is common practice.
Hotel is in a good location, staff were polite and helpful, breakfast and buffet lunch were satisfactory Rooms were a little tired looking and shower facilities old fashioned
Good nights sleep very poor reception on BBC1 and I didn't like the smell of the air-freshener
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food good value and good quality for the price. Handy for the centre of Shrewbury. Room 101!was very cold despite 2 rads being on. Towel rail in bathroom wasn't working so bathroom was freezing cold. Despite reporting the fault nothing was done about it for 3 days. Noisy[traffic] and not much room to work. Pillows poor and need replacing.
I found the receptionist really pleasant, which gave a very good first impression. My daughter and I dined in the bar, and we found the service very good. No complaints.
Friendly, polite, unobtrusive staff. Good food, clean and tidy. The staff responded well when I asked for another bed in the room for my son to stay. The lady (Portugese or Spanish), that served breakfast was lovely, and a real asset to the hotel. The Darwin room is a feature of the hotel and allows for private family dinners and meetings away from the main dining area. It would have been nice, being as my stay was over the Christmas period and temperatures were in minus double figures to have been offered an upgrade to the main hotel.
Arrived on the Friday night and had a meal in the bar/restaurant. Breakfast choice on Saturday was excellent, as was Sunday. Did struggle to get a table on the Saturday eveing as there was a wedding, which we were unaware of. However, this was soon rectified by helpful staff. N/A
Staff were extremely helpful. Very pleasant stay. Will definitely stay at the Lord Hill again.
None There wasn't any hot water when I used the shower. On arrival we ordered some tea and coffee, as we were too early to check in, and had to wait nearly 30 minutes for it. I felt this wasn't really acceptable considering I had been driving for almost 3 hours.
Comfortable rooms, great breakfast, friendly helpful staff.
