Clean and comfortable. Conveniently situated for town, beaches and for walking and exploring the South Devon area.
Room was good, car parking was good and reasonable walking distance to town centre. The lift was too small.
Very relaxed atmoshpere Limited and expensive dinner menu
Clean and comfortable, helpful and friendly staff, excellent location. Good view over the garden to the sea. Heating too high - would have liked to turn it down but could only turn radiator on or off.
Typical old fashioned type hotel that you find in many English seaside resorts. Location is its best feature with good views of the entire seafront. We only stayed for one night. The breakfast (and the staff serving it) was very good. Probably more suitable for elderly people as Sidmouth is a very quiet town.
Pleasant, attentive and helpful staff
The location. It has a beautiful view of the sea. The lunch on the terrace was delightful and the pool is heated. It was all helped by the fact that the sun shone! There is also ample parking off road.A very enjoyable stay. No
Vary relaxed atmosphere.
Comfy bed No blinds on the window
I liked the ambience of the hotel, and the unfailing courtesy of all staff. The room with sea-view and balcony was very good, but just a little little lacking in space. The food was OK but certainly not "fine dining". Cooked breakfast was variable with some items hot and others lukewarm.
We enjoyed the comfort, the excellence of the service and the friendliness of the staff
Peaceful location, beautiful views of the coast. Good food well presented, staff attentively discrete. pleasant live music. Very good in room facilities, flowers, fruit etc Expensive meal charges with no opportunity to reduce the charge for smaller appetites.
The catering for the function we attended at the Hotel was really excellent. No
The meal and the entertainment on Tuesday evening were very good. And the house champagne was excellent. the cream teas too. the breakfasts were pretty drab for a hotel of this price range.
We had a really good relaxing weekend break .The staff were, without exception, very helpful and good.
The standard of service and cleanliness was to be commended.A very relaxing hotel. We were given a sea view at no extra cost. The bed was a little bit too hard for me.
Comfortable surroundings and excellent service
The ambience atmosphere of the whole hotel - very relaxing with good attentative staff.
Excellent position, good food, high quality public rooms Too expensive
View of the sea and excellent food and service
Location. The reception staff could have been more helpful, carried our own bags as the chap was kind of wandering around. The beds could do with an upgrade for a 4 star hotel. Not very comfortable, woke up with painful joints.
*Disturbed twice by cleaning staff. If reception know when someone has checked out or not, why do cleaning staff insist on entering the room when guests are still there? *Delete turn back. Not needed. *No prior knowledge of tie and jacket being required to dine, so not brought. As a cambridge univ professor I dress for dinner frequently. I go to a hotel to relax, not a 'busman's holiday'!
We thought the hotel was in exellent condition, clean throughout. The staff were friendly and helpfull, will definatly stay again. Thank you margaret r Springham
A great hotel for anyone over 75 which was clearly the average age. Not a hotel for young couples or children
the space to 'be'. would have appreciated being told more fully of the dining room system re breakfast. eg. did not dine in the hotel. On first morning we were asked which room when we went into breakfast - allocated a table. Assumed that that would be our table daily for breakfast. Staff had to correct us on that on the 3rd morning. Uncomfortable all round.
The staff were really very good and always on hand to serve. A lot of the other guests were very snooty and quiet rude. How hard is it to say "Good morning". This is not a reflection on the Hotel. We had a fantastic break.
Wonderful view, great service
Swanky and pretentious. Failure in your attempt to be la de da
Friendly staff, Clean Hotel, Perfect location, but the Beds were very had, and the decor in the bedrooms needed modernising and updating. Beds were hard
We were able to relax and get away from the phone and email and pressures of life, and be spoiled a little. Everything was fine
The setting was ideal, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was first class. Nothing - all was good
Carpets in Bathrooms!
Owners are friendly, approachable and generally provide a welcome and homely atmosphere. Views are lovely as is the setting. lots of helpful info for round and about. The restaurant is not open all the time, and this is not clear on the web-site info,we had chosen a hotel to eat at in the evenings so we could relax .One night it was open and the food was excellent but after that it was closed so we ate out and had difficulty finding somewhere on a Sunday evening as others were also shut.
Had a great stay at Sid Valley. They provide free parking, with amazing views from every angle. The rooms have great facilties - particularly the great TVs and lovely new bathrooms - and we were provided with fresh linen/towels daily. The outside includes a lovely pool and great tennis court with unbelievable views. We chose to have both the breakfast and evening meal, which were fantastic value considering the wide selection and chef's talent! The location is also ideal, not only to the coast, but also to all attractions and Exeter. The bar and free internet access were very useful.Overall, it strikes the delicate balance between fresh & clean and cosy & traditional perfectly.
Great breakfast, beautiful views
Friendly staff, The room was quite comfortable, good breakfast
Pool good advertised DVD and broadband facilities. DVD not in room but on central system which is OK but not great. Broadband not in room only accessible through a cable in the dining room which did not work.
The accomodation did not match what we booked - we booked B and B, we were put outside in self-catering accomodation.
Quiet, quality of hotel, location, quality of service Evening meal a little pricy for what it was.
this hotel was booked for a gang of lands who were working. This was made clear when the booking was made. Made to feel uncomfortable in their work clothes and had belongings moved from one room to another without prior knowledge.
Friendly staff Television was not adjusted for the new digital system we think.
Very friendly owners, flexible and helpful roomss need updating
relaxed atmosphere, very child friendly though children didn't get under the feet of us older guests
The room was great with two seperate rooms for the double and childrens beds made it very practical
The owners were very friendly, welcoming and accomodating. A good breakfast and plenty of it!!! The facilities were suitable and for families and great for couples with small children (toys etc) and I liked the idea that if you wanted to store food in a fridge or make a picnic there was a designated kitchen. I would recommend for couples on a budget with kiddies in tow! Although we didn't have an evening meal I thought this an excellent idea if you didn't want to go out again after a long day Bed was comfortable enough but creaked evrytime you turned over. Perhaps the frame just needed tightening up. We only stayed 2 nights so didn't worry but would have mentioned it (politely!) if we had stayed longer
Proprietors were friendly and food was good. They hadn't received all the relevant information from you and so they had to adapt the accommodation for our requirements (We had booked and paid for a two bedroom suite but they had assumed two people would only need one room). This lodge is ideal for young families. The rooms are very basic, more like a backpacker hostel although the main body of the hotel is historic, comfortable and rustic.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. We found it very depressing and quite claustrophobic.
