10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, normally not one for big hotels however this was a beautifully designed hotel and pure class, can't fault it.
Cons: Nothing, couldn't fault it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Honestly everything. This place was incredible and I will definitely recommend this to anyone I know heading to Sri Lanka. The facilities were amazing and the staff went above and beyond to make your stay the best possible. The view of Sigiriya rock from the infinity pool was gorgeous and the food was delicious. There were also free badminton courts which was fun. I would recommend getting a tuk-tuk from just along the road from the hotel because tuktuk drivers take advantage if they know you are staying there. We tried to get a tuk-tuk which should have been 1700 and they tried charging us 2900.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yoga class, beautiful garden area, nice to stroll, breakfast, room, swimming pool, Sri lankan dinner, room had privecy and was spotless clean and nice.
Cons: A staff in main restaurant didn't feel very friendly or attentive, but other staffs were.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is contained within a gated area. Once you have progressed to the main reception, you approach the reception via a fairly long set of stairs (easy walking) to the most glorious view on the other side of the infinity pool where the view stretches beyond to the plains and then the hills in the distance. It is truly beautiful. The pool is really stunning and is open until 9pm at night so you can bathe under the stars which is what my husband and I did one night after returning from a safari. The food is catered generally by a buffet which was good quality and plenty of choice. Again the staff were exceptional. Our room was great - plenty of room and nice big bathroom. I'm not sure how quiet it would be if the hotel was full though. Sigiriya is a great location for safaris too.
Cons: The grounds are well maintained but there is rather a hum - we think this stemmed from watering the gardens with stagnant water. The wi-fi rather drops out of service quite frequently so one has to keep logging in. Didn't bother me but my husband found it a bit irritating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool, service, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff :)
Cons: We didn’t stay long enough to enjoy this beautiful hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic view from the main hotel area and pool, service was excellent, food options and quality likewise. Would recommend.
Cons: The twin bed in our room wasn't set up on arrival into the room, but they rectified this fully within ten minutes. Full credit to the staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent!
Cons: There is no internet in rooms
Hotel Sigiriya - Sigiriya - Building

7.0 Good
Pros: Convenience to Sigiriya
Cons: Expensive compared with other hotels in our 6 day road trip Facilities could do with a facelift
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel staff in general was very nice, the food was nice and friendly too, even if very expensive. The place to see the Lion's rock is great.
Cons: When we arrived, the staff offered us a barbecue for 2500 RS for 2 people. The next day, we were very surprised to discover that the price was eventually about 4000 RS per person, which was way too high compared to what you can get in Sri Lanka outdoors restaurants. Better to eat outside for the same thing and more than half the price. What was also very surprising is that the next day, the barbecue dinner was empty, no one took the diner whereas the day before it was full (about 20 people). Considering this, we found that the hotel management wasn't honest towards the customers.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Rooms are spacious and clean, the location overlooking the rock of Sigiriya is amazing. The buffet breakfast is very good but a shame it is mainly continental as opposed to traditional Sri Lankan.
Cons: The staff at reception had a very inappropriate and disappointing behaviour when we arrived which is not aligned to what one could expect of such hotel standards. Obviously the current global context is quite particular and the uncertainty around what is happening with Covid19 makes it somewhat scary for certain people however that does not mean foreigners should be mistreated (upon arrival we were barely given a hello, asked to hand sanitize our hands straight away and told our temperature needed to be checked). During our 24 hours stay, the hostility we felt was just not right unfortunately and as result means we will not ever come again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to Sigiriya rock and pindurangula. Great meals.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located near the rock, in beautiful ground, with a lovely garden and wonderful pool overlooking Sirigiya rock. Rooms are all one level, very well appointed and comfortable. Buffet breakfast is excellent befitting a high end hotel. We did not eat dinner and cannot comment. If you get a discount on the room, it is an outstanding deal.
Cons: Reception on arrival was sordidly slow with registration. It is not clear why it should take 20 minutes to process paperwork and we were the only one.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place to stay - staff extremely friendly and helpful, especially Kalpani in the restaurant. Housekeeping made the best towel animals I have ever seen. Great location close to the Lion Rock. Would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Barbecue buffet a bit overpriced.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, the view from the swimming pool is really splendid. Most of the people just stay one night, but its worth staying two or three nights just to relax a bit. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed for dinner and there also food was nice , wine also ;-) and the service was very nice ! staff is very helpful ! There was a live singer and a magician for the kids, nice ! Go and see a sunrise !
Cons: euh ... nothing ...

Cons: No Wifi in rooms, only in lobby
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful environment, nice combination with nature. A homely atmosphere with friendly staff. Excellent food.
Cons: Would have been better if WiFi was available for rooms. But still in a way it was better as we could enjoy the nature more.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location inside a park with nice view on the lion rock from swimming pool.
Cons: Second time I come here , staff better before especially for the restaurant, this time waiters don’t speak English and didn’t know the menu also when order one dish come back 10 minutes later , not available on that 3 times!!! Each time 10 minutes later come back not available !!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting, lots of nature & great view of the rock from the pool. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was good, we had dinner the first night & breakfast each morning.
Cons: The pool area was a bit tired looking & the pool was full of leaves but can’t be helped with all the trees surrounding the property. They did try & clean these out daily. Still didn’t stop us going in for a dip after our trek up the rock.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly positioned for easy access to Sigiriya Rock. Nice secluded rooms set in extensive grounds. Lovely swimming pool.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: One can’t help but feeling transported away to a tropical paradise on arrival at SV. The whole estate is teaming with life; for lack of other tourists due to the Covid-19 outbreak we had critters, birds and reptiles for company which made the whole experience all the more unforgettable. The stand-out feature of the property was without a doubt the extraordinary view of Sigiriya rock which looms proudly over the delightful child-friendly swimming pool from dusk till dawn.
Cons: We couldn’t comment on the facilities as many were closed (eg the Ayurvedic centre).

9.0 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: nothing
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The outside of the rooms were neat and tidy. The manager Anton was very friendly and courteous. He was willing to look after us, and was accommodating.
Cons: ROOM: The kettle was broken, the roof behind the air on was leaking water, the air on needs a service as it was making a sound all night. There was no power point to use the kettle, and we had to use the power point near the floor, and was very inconvenient. The thermostat of the kettle did not work. All power points were behind the head boards and was inconvenient using them. INTERNET: The wifi kept logging us out every few minutes, and we had to log in several times, for each device. STAFF: There was one particular most experienced wait staff who was very rude, however the junior staff and the kitchen staff were very courteous.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Courteous staff and lovely place overlooking Sigiriya rock. Rooms are nice
Cons: Bathrooms could be cleaner esp the shower area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, nice staff, comfy bed, clean rooms, good location! I recommend it!
9.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing.
7.0 Good
Pros: the Sri Lanka curry here is the best we have ever had, very nice. the location is perfect, very near Sigiriya, 5 mins walk from the exit ( tourist car park ) to the hotel.
Cons: the room is not very clean, the facilities are a bit old
8.0 Excellent

Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Event facilities at this resort consist of a conference center and a meeting room. 7.9 Good
Pros: New hotel, very clean, beautiful entrance and Swimming pool Staff were very nice and kind, some stuff were forgotten in our room, they were quite fast getting back (1st night no towels, second night no refill of soap) Facilities are great with the pool and we took a massage, very good!
Cons: Disappointment was the location. We stayed 3 nights and we were isolated, nothing to see nor walk around once you are back to the hotel. But for 1 or 2 nights should be fine as the place is quiet. Last thing was the food. Again I think for 3 nights because of the location, we had to eat at the hotel, and honestly for this type of hotel food quality could be much better. And quality is one thing, but the rates applied were really too expensive. Some dish were invoices 2500/2700 Rp and were not nice. So my feeling is because we were “blocked” in the hotel, price applied were high because anyway you can’t go anywhere else. So effort on the food or price to be applied.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: It was in an isolated location. Full of mosquitos, rooms smelt dank and cupboards smelt of cockroaches. There was a frog in the bathroom. And when we decided to move somewhere else for the next 2 nights the hotel refused to refund the payment for the days we did not stay there. Terrible!
6.7 Good
Pros: I loved the location.
Cons: The bed sheets were really scratchy. Not cotton.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The tree house with music and barbeque night..
Cons: Everything was fine but we were alone.. people should come back to their normal life style to enjoy such a lovely places like amaara..
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and was made available extra early to leave early to Sirigyia.
Cons: Only stayed one night, dinner (beafsteak and tiramisu) was not so good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can enjoy the wild life outside... Nice water stream. Wonderful tree house...
Cons: Good if they let us stay at tree house in the night...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole atmosphere of tranquility, the surroundings amidst rice paddies and near a small lake. The staff were friendly and discrete, the bungalow authentic, yet very comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is your personalized private jungle experience, at the comfort of lavish accommodation which truly respects nature and the environment. We stayed in a private villas with a private pools - it was an amazing getaway, so quite, so peaceful, and the rooms had so much to offer in terms of comfort and amenities. Breakfast was delivered to my room at my own request and personalized menu. A highlight of your day would be encountering those abundant jungle birds and critters, watching the monkeys jump across tree branches, while enjoying the sizable infinity pool. The staff are incredibly polite and friendly. I wanted to share my special thanks to Mr. Rawan, who made my stay extra special.
Cons: what's not to like?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful , natural, very peaceful place. Don't stay here if you like action.
Cons: I think the view of our cottage was set up wrongly, as it seemed in many others too. From the bedroom/livingroom you looked into nextdoors side wall, while a window behind the shower overlooked the green pond/marshland..... wish that had been the view from my bed....

Pros: Amazing, extremely friendly and helpful staff who made our stay unforgettable !!! We felt like at home or a boutique hotel thanks to the personnalised and friendly service! Excellent location in the jungle, great commodities and very comfortable room! The breakfast and dinner buffet were delicious, including typical food and very diversified! We were on honeymoon and the hotel prepared us so many surprises!! We used the spa and the doctor and massage therapist were highly skilled and very friendly, also the spa is very well located on the middle of the gardens for a perfect relaxation!! Finally it was for us a great value for money, so I highly recommend this hotel !!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Sri Lankan breakfast
Cons: It lacked a vibe and had no atmosphere upstairs
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Very, very old looking like a motel, got 4 days there but left in a matter of hours and was refused a refund, booking makes it even harder to get refund and they dont care. 5 star rating is a complete joke the worst false advertisement iv ever come across 3 star no more
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The most amazing pool, especially for families with children as there are two shallow levels before reaching the deep one. The outdoor space is very tranquil, with sounds and sights of peacocks strolling the gardens. The breakfast buffet and dinner was of a very high standard, good options (and thankfully, not too many) and good quality.
Cons: Spa was quite expensive. Rooms are dated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food, swimming pool , staff ,location , rooms. Best hotel i went till now and i recommend all from middle east to come to this hotel as it was the best !! A really special thanks for Mr. Bandula kumara who treated us as family and as it's our home! Thank you for being amazing and i will repeat it for sure and will book my stay here and will recommend my family and friends for this place!!
Cons: Nothing, all was extremly perfect! The only little thing was the gym which has very little equipment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was surrounded by nature, felt good to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Food was excellent, many varieties. The staffs were very helpful, even managed to get my purse back when I had completely forgotten about it. Rooms were clean and pillows even better slept like a baby
Cons: Don’t have any.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great pool and garden, nice open restaurant and good food and service.
Cons: A bit outside bur we liked it.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Grounds were stunning. Food was lovely. Pool was very picturesque and the staff were very attentive. It was a beautiful hotel but very quiet when we visited.
Cons: The hotel was quite a long way from Sigiriya so there aren’t any options to eat out without a drive. There were quite a few creepy crawlies in the room because it was a jungle setting. Not a criticism but good to know. Don’t leave your bag or case on the floor! The food was lovely but the buffet was a bit expensive compared to the al la carte too. The WiFi regularly dropped off or was not available. Also the spa has female and male masseuses so be clear to begin with if you have a preference, keeping in mind that a full body massage is your FULL body.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is literately a resort in the middle of the jungle. I have spent two nights in the luxury space villa where we were surrounded by jungle sounds of many animals including peafowl, monkeys, etc. The hotel is a totally different experience that we really enjoyed. The luxury space villa is an amazing villa with a relaxing private pool that located outdoor (swimming in the middle of the jungle
Cons: Very hot and spicy srilankan breakfast (could be avoided with American breakfast
8.3 Excellent
Pros: good Location. Amazing swimming pool
Cons: The gym was rusty and old, front door in the bedroom wasn’t very good so mosquitoes got in, couldn’t sit by the plunge pool at night as no outdoor mosquito replant was provided

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and welcomed us with the choice of fresh fruit juice or cinnamon tea - we had the tea and it was brilliant. The dinner and breakfast was great with a good selection of tasty Sri Lankan and western food. The room was nice and it has a feel of being in the jungle. The air con was great.
Cons: There is a temple nearby and it started to play music at 4 am till 6 am which woke us up. It can be quite disturbing so earplugs are recommended. The shower gel and shampoo bottles were empty in the bathroom.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, great staff, nice breakfast and dinner, spacious rooms.
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely location very rural but easily arranged tuktuk to lion rock. There are also a few restaurants and shops on route. The swimming pool was lovely and warmed by the sun. Dinner was fabulous (a la carte menu) and very good value for money. Good spacious bedrooms.
Cons: Alcoholic drinks selection was a bit limited for my partner who does not like beer or wine. Some areas of our room were not too clean however overall it was clean enough. Building work going on within the complex was a bit distracting during the day when relaxing by the pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A real 4* experience. All the staff were very professional and friendly and the meals were delicious. The swimming pool is one of the nicest we found in Sri Lanka and was very well maintained. Our room was a Superior on the top with views of Sigiria, sadly a tree had grown since the hotel was built so no view, in my view I would take a room on the first floor instead and they have much larger balconies. Not something that the hotel could change but there was new wing being built nearby, however, there wasn't much noise from it and it didn't disturb us at all and the staff ensured that if you were eating the workmen down tools
Cons: The stair wells could have had a little more cleaning, they werent dirty but being external at night they attracted lots flying things which were dead in the morning
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good price performance ratio. Delicious dinner next to the pool. Very big and clean rooms.
Cons: Construction site next door.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice atmosphere on evening buffet style dinners, served by the hotel, the pool, delicious breakfast, clean and cosy room.
Cons: Didn't like very loud pigeons banging under the roof, on the beams from time to time (sounded like workers doing renovations). I believe that the space between the roof and the walls of the building, where those nasty birds are having parties is yet to be covered...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was a sanctuary - with incredible food, service and massages!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully sited in lush countryside, this is a lovely property with a relaxing atmosphere. Fabulous value for money and the staff were very kind in the many ways they marked my partner’s birthday
Cons: Quite remote, so you need transport. There was building work going on close to the pool, about which we were not advised (in fact no-one ever mentioned it)

Pros: After a bad start in Palmyra Nature "Resort", we decided to spend the rest of our days in Sigiryia at the Flower Garden and our experience was very good. The hotel staff was very attentive and kind. The service at the restaurant was very good and the food was delicious. Besides, the hotel restaurant always offers a complementary salad/soup and ice cream for dessert. Our room was big, nicely decorated and was equipped with mini fridge, kettle, TV, air conditioning, fan and a safe. The bathroom was a bit old but it was clean. The pool was great to relax after a full day visiting landmarks.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Nice pool. Good restaurant with a great breakfast. Very quiet location in forest although you will need transport to get in and out.
Cons: WiFi only in restaurant area, so best to have own internet access.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect - we walked to the Rock and it took us 10 minutes. The hotel is lovely and extremely good value for money. The evening menu was extensive and the food was good. The pool is nice and we went for a nice cooling dip late at night which was lovely. Overall a great hotel for the price we paid.
Cons: We arrived at lunch time and were really hungry - the lunch menu was poor, they didn't have what we wanted either and we didn't really enjoy what we ended up with.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic pool, very wide area, very green
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Oak Ray Hotels are a Sri Lankan hotel chain with houses at most of the hot spots and out of the three nights at different Oak Ray hotels this was definitely the nicest one! We had a cabin near the pool which was just fab. The place is really cool, perfect for one pr two nights The pool is fantastic. We also stayed at the Oak Ray Tea Bush in Ramboda and at the Oak Ray Summer Hill Breeze in Nuwara Eliya. The latter hotels were quite a lot cheaper and had drivers accomodation, dinner and breakfast included in our price. Food was very good at both. This we cannot say for the House at Elephant Lake as even so the price was much higher, dinner was not included so we ate elsewhere and breakfast was an extra 14 Dollars (!!!) per Person - so we rather had some bananas and street food instead. I think here the management could offer a better deal and include at least the breakfast for the price. On the whole we can recommend the Oak Ray hotels, they are good, clean, very friendly staff, not too high priced and we had a couple of much worse for much more money during our round trip. We actually had wifi in those places :-)
Cons: Breakfast is just too pricey, forget it, eat elsewhere. Food is sooo good everywhere and costs a fraction of the 14 Dollars they want here.

Pros: Swimming pool is awesome, rooms are clean and big, very good beds
Cons: Food in the restaurant is in line with what you can get in central Sri Lanka...
7.0 Good
Pros: Big and nice swimming pool. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Friendly staff at the reception and in the restaurant.
Cons: A bit old buildings, medium-looking restaurant with a medium selection of food. No swimming pool towels in late afternoon. Unlike to what was included in the booking, the hotel charged us for the rooms in USD, not in LKR.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Got no breakfast. Kitchen not open at 6.00 in the morning when we had to leave.
Cons: No ordinary restaurant open 31/12. Only Gala dinner for 25 USD/person
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was brilliant. Really helpful. Even without our request they have promptly turned on the Jacuzzi. Pool was also wonderful. We were given superior Delux room due to my genius benefits where I was only eligible for just a Delux room for the price of a standard room. Bathroom was huge and clean. Hotel premise also wonderful and well maintained for a nice evening/ morning walk. Bed, pillows and linen are clean and comfortable. Room was provided with international power adaptors.
Cons: They could have improved the dinner menu a little bit.

Cons: Price too high! Cold atmosphere. One of our most expensive stays in Sri Lanka. Just not oké , this amount of money. We were only guests. The extra bed for my child was onacceptable ! Was not a bed ... hard couch I am travelling around Azië for 5 years during summervacation . This price value is not oké. Too high. Would never go back. Next day we stayed in a tree house, much much cheeper and so much nicer and a warmer / Friendly atmosphere. After that in luxe hotel in passikuda and Lodge in natuonal park; pay a lot , get a lot . Location : little bit outside is no problem ! You take a tuk tuk for a ride. Be aware of your tuk tuk price !

Pros: Great location with great staff. Food is also very good and the main building is very nice. Villas are private and large.
Cons: You need to patience with the water heater but this is not an issue due to the outside temperature.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. The hotel is secluded and has only 8 private villas. You wake up surrounded by greenery and to sounds of chirping birds. The staff was wonderful and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Food was good and lots of Sri Lankan options! Highly recommended for a couple. We loved it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Wild Grass Nature Resort. Our room had panoramic views onto the jungle, and was set in a beautiful, standalone building that was incredibly private and really made it feel like we were right in the middle of nature. The room was furnished very nicely, with a very comfortable bed, and everything was very clean. The food was delicious - we had a lot of traditional Sri Lankan food, which was superb, and there was also great Western food available when we wanted it. We were there for New Year's Eve, when the resort put on a delicious buffet with a live band, which had a great atmosphere and was a lovely way to see in the new year. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We can't recommend the place enough - we had a magical stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place to stay with a rice field view. Very friendly owners. Close to restaurants.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is great for staying in Sigiriya. The staff are great and went out of their way to accommodate our late check-in, late check out and a taxi to our next hotel. The shower in our room was only at a good temperature with a low pressure, maybe it needs to be checked. The animal were a bit loud in the night but if you have ear plugs or can accept that monkeys want to have fun, then it’s fine. The owner himself personally drive us to Kandy which was something he went out of his way to do. The staff was great and also the coffee was great. Recommend this hotel if you are visiting the Lion Rock area and are not expecting 5-star facilities.
Cons: Maybe breakfast can offer some more variety.
6.0 Good
Pros: The lounge/bedroom area was nice. Beds were comfortable and a lovely older man who did his best to fix things that did not work properly. Breakfast was good. Very handy to a small township for meals. Did have tea coffee in the room which was nice.
Cons: We thought we were going to have lovely views of Lion Rock but on arrival when I asked where the views were, the owner walked me over to a far corner for a tiny view. The bathroom had part of the window pane missing and at night the mosquito's came in. We asked if they could put some cardboard over it to stop the mosquito's but nothing was done so we stuffed plastic bags through the hole which helped. No mosquito nets for the beds. The TV would not work. The older man worked on it for about 30-40 mins and he got it going. The jug was broken and they replaced this. We had booked 3 nights thinking we were going to be in a lovely resort! New owners were taking over on the last morning of our stay and we wish them well for the future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing rice field behind the rooms. Staff friendly and all beautiful.
Cons: Wifi was little weak. But overall it was okay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room with comfortable bed and big bathroom. All toiletries and towels provided. Very close to Lion rock. Within walking distance. Also many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Nice view of rice fields with peacocks walking around. There owner is wonderful. Once he showed up he was able to give me more information about his place and surrounding area. He also drove me from this hotel to Ambuluwawa tower and then dropped me off at my hotel in Peradeniya. Highly recommend!!
Cons: Too many dogs lingering around. The staff didn't seem to be able to give much information about the area. Was not told anything and didn't see anything about the spa treatment area
