La Palapa is a brand new 2 room bungalow located in the perfect surf village hideaway of El Paredon on the pacific coast of Guatemala, approximately 2 hour drive away from Antigua and the city. It offers the ideal setting for a relaxing holiday or few days away from the city, be it with friends or family, in a quiet location just a couple of minutes easy walk of 150m to the beach. Our place comfortably sleeps 4 or 5 adults, or 4 adults and 2 children. We have a caretaker and cleaner who live next door, who are always available with a quick phone call if you need them. We have an open air living area with sofa, hammocks, BBQ, and Asian style dining area. The Master bedroom upstairs has an open concept with ocean view and Queen size bed, lounge area with hammocks and a breakfast bar. There is plenty of space of upstairs or downstairs for the extra air mattress. Downstairs has a kitchen and extra sofa-bed to convert into the second bedroom for those who need it. Mosquito nets are provided for all sleeping areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, coffee maker, stove and all utensils. Alternatively if you don’t feel like cooking, just across the street we have a whole range of restaurant options including international standard pizza, Thai or Indian food, and even British-style fish and chips. Also there is a small grocery store next door for all your basic needs with a market in the village for fruits and vegetables, and a fishmonger for freshly caught seafood. We have surf all year round in Paredon, and depending on the time of the year you can see Dolphins, Whales and Manta Rays. If you need help with anything, we can help arrange surf lessons, mangrove tours, transport to and from the airport and a local cook to come and make fresh seafood sourced in the fish market that day. For us, we love spending time at the beach house to give us an opportunity to abandon routine and embrace personal freedom, and therefore we don’t have wifi. It is incredibly easy to purchase a local sim card, and use decent 3G in the area if required though. If you are looking for a place to just relax and unwind, read a book, surf, take long walks on the beach, and enjoy the peace and quiet of Guatemalan village life, then La Palapa and El Paredon is a perfect place for it.
