The staff were very friendly and given we didn't speak any Dutch were very willing and able to help us understand things about the hotel. The public rooms in the hotel were beautiful and the food was excellent by any standard.

The room itself was very pleasant but lacked basic amenities like the ability to make tea and coffee.

Stayed here for two nights during September. Hotel is nice and quiet, and in the centre of the village. Parking lot directly behind the hotel where I could leave my motorbike. Rooms were basic, but very clean and comfy. Big split-twin bed, TV with BBC, free Wifi, shower and towels. Owner was good guy, happy to serve us at the bar until late even after all other guests had gone to bed. Breakfast was good - coffee/tea/ham/cheese/breads/croissants. I did not have dinner there so cannot comment on the menu.

The location and staff were excellent. The breakfast was very nice including breads, meats cheese and cereals. There also was a cappucino machine which was a plus.

Vey friendly staff - When I asked at the reception I they had toothpaste as I had forgotten mine, they unfortunately didn't have any (in a 4 star hotel ????), but the friendly barman/receptionist gave me a tube of his own to help me out. Breakfast was crowded, but very good

The room wasn't just small as advertised, but very small The tv was also tiny - so small that it was difficult to see the programme. There was no shower curtain/glass and you could only shower by holding the showerhead as there was no wall fitting to hang it on. Overall, we didn't think that the hotel was deserving of a four star rating - At the most a low 3

Hotel is an example of a family-runned hotel where things are organized well but in the atmosphere and with the furniture of what families in this area apparently like. Not very special.

Good price, clean room, nicely located between the rail station the and center of Valkenburg (very easy 5 min walk), easy 15 min rail trip to Maastricht

A bit noisy at times (Blinds and tables and chairs being dragged about at 07:00 and 23:00) No tea and coffee facilities in room. But overall we enjoyed our stay at Atlanta

We enjoyed the location and excellent service from the staff. Although the rooms were quite small, the common areas were delightful and spacious. The staff could not have been more helpful.

This hotel was awesome. My family and I stayed in a family room that was pefect. It was close to downtown, the shopping, and the Christmas Markets. The staff is very friendly and most speak multiple languages. Breakfast Buffett was also good and worth the 12.5 pp.

The restaraunt is very pricey.....plan to eat diner else where if you are looking for value.

There was some refurbishing going on which made me wake up early. However, the staff treated this in a good manner afterwards.

The hotel breakfast is very nice, and it is interesting to see all the guests together.

The bathroom facilities in the room could be improved, such as the shower and the hairdryer.

Excellent and helpful staff, good spoken English which was a bonus for non-Dutch speakers.

Carpet on the floor. The room was clean but the terrace was dirty. Staff not always responding to the client's needs. Old fashion rooms and bed not really confortable.

Wonderful facilities, efficient staff and good food. We have been going to Thermae 2000 for 5 years and it has never disappointed. Much better than equivalent British spas.

felt that did not get great value for money. essentially payed 190 euro's a night for a big room,which was advertised as a junior suite. no tea or cofee and the bed was two pushed together with two single quilts.not very romantic!! no problems with the staff and location was good!!

We found the hotel and personnel very positive and helpful.We will stay again at some point.

The environment

Not very helpful

The location is perfect - close to nature, near the natural park (we've seen deers here). The castle is also very picturesque (expept the new connected part of the building with the lift which is nothing common with the castle). The personnel speaks very good English and very helpful. Common areas are very rich decorated and you feel yourself in a real castle here. The breakfast is not very varied but of a good quality products (the view from the restaurant is also great).

No sound isolation (you can even see lots of light from the door at night). The light in the bathroom can be switched on only together with the ventilation which is very loud - at night you can't use the light. The stairs extremely scratching (but beatiful) and the lift (we used once) is a challenge - extremely slow and you will be feared a bit :) The restaurant was closed on 8 p.m. (as all in the area).
