It was a beautiful location, access to many ski area's, and tickets could be bought right at the hotel. There was so much different entertainment that kept us busy, i booked online by google and was extremely impressed. Hotel staff were very kind.
The hotel is placed in a nice setting: beautiful mountain scenery (if you have a room on the southside....) Prior to arrival I called the hotel and got confirmation about the booked room: "Confort plus room" with parquet floor on the quiet side of the hotel (some parts of the hotel have ongoing renovation works). However, when I arrived I got a room with carpet on the floor instead. My dust allergy made me refuse this room. They offered another room with (a dusty) parquet floor which was much smaller and still not the category that I booked. Next morning at 8am I was woken up by loud noise from construction work outside at the opposite part of the hotel. When I checked out and said to the manager helping me that the price had to be corrected according to the room I actually got, he said (in german, thinking I wouldn't understand) to his assstant, "I don't have time for this" and had her handle it. Impolite behaviour!!! The price was reduced with 10 euros...... Compared to the quality of other similar hotels in the region this hotel is too expensive
Decoration is nice, breakfast is good, room is very comfortable and clean.
All, except - see bellow. I haven't got the Invoice for my stay in the Hotel.
Sauna was additional charge.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Good facilities, friendly staff. Nice breakfast, very good italian restaurant. Good travel arrangements with buses etc. No cash point. Leaving early can be a problem as the sevurity gate does not open until 0800.
High price for poor comfort. I never will visit this hotel.
We used it as a stop over to our wintersports holliday in Austria. This hotel was conveniently located. Family room was spacious and comfortable for single night use. The couch-bed in the living room smelled like vomit, attempted to clean it ans sprayed over with some perfume did not really help. Dinner tip: in the restaurant, stay with the pizza and do not go for the 'enthousiastically' reccomended 'specials of the day'. The special was not really special and very much over priced, pizzas were good though.
The location No
Good swimming pool facilities. Bed setee too short
The rooms where very well equiped and comfortable to stay in Food was only OK and over salty
The room, the restaurants/food No. Suggestions for improvements could be something like english breakfast, more parking space and a pool with a water depth over 1,30 meters.
Service & Food excellent
great hotel, friendly staff, great facilities
Nice environment, nice food, very comfortable Slow service in the restaurant
breakfast was very nice, nice spa, staff is very friendly the winelist in the restaurant was not up to date, they don't have a playroom for children
It was beyond my expectations. The stuff was great, the cuisin was marveless. They didn't change the room bedclothes, and refill the bathroom soapes.
The food and the staff where excellant
Very nice suprise in the beautiful setting, friendly staff, typical Bavarian atmosphere, good dinner, relaxing hotel
hotel, layout, service, helpful staff So nice quite place had noise at 3 morning, rest is excellent
The hotel was overbooked and we have to switsh over too another room after one night.
The attention to detail.Nothing was to much trouble.Staff very obliging without being too fussy No
No air condition which is surprising me for a 5 star hotel. There is no welcome book in English (everything is drafted in German). Only one foreign channel (CNN!). You must wear a trousers to have dinner. If not and despite you have a decent wear, you cant go for dinner! This is not disclosed in the hotel nor on internet.
Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful view of mountains from balcony.
Very friendly and "chic" as well. I love it ! The prices for dinner was not very well indicated. I was a bit surprised by the price of a evening meal... Another thing, the explanations about the use of the telephone, messages, etc were not clear to me. And I was not sure about the tipping ; first time in Germany. I think that mostly of your guest are german speaking but some english guide of you hotel might be useful .
The Hotel is located in an excellent location on the edge of the town of Oberstdorf giving you wonderful winter views of the surrounding mountains and cross country ski track. The staff was "bend over backwards" helpful to meet our needs and requests. I would return to this hotel anytime.
This hotel is a wonderful find. I really enjoyed my stay here. I ate there for the four nights I was there in July, and each night they had something different going on for dinner. One night an outside dinner, another night a buffet and another night a BBQ on the patio. Staff for the most part are excellent. Front Reception and bar staff were very friendly and professional as were most of the wait staff. Site is wonderful with views of the mountains from the rooms and wildlife in the area. Very good value for money. I would recommend if you book this hotel to book half board, as the food is really very, very good. If you don't book half board you can be asked to move tables as they are reserved for the half board partons (they have the same table for every meal). I was asked to move a few times, and wish they would place reserved signs on the half board tables, or get rid of this procedure all together, but until they do this be sure to book the half board to avoid being asked to move constantly. If you don't book half board, well, at least you'll know why you're being asked to move.
Very friendly and accomodating staff, good food and beautiful authentic German style building/decor. Indoor pool is good. There's an industrial factory in town near hotel.
there was a wedding reception one of the evenings and the noise went much past the hotels designated quiet time of 10pm -- til almost 1 am, I was exhausted the next morning and felt like it cut into my trip and relaxation time
there was a lot to like about the hotel. the facilities were very good and the restaurant was excellent. the staff were fantastic. the only dislike was the fact that the evening meal started and finished so early. after a day skiing or walking to rush for a meal before eight is not good, but this is a problem with many hotels in Germany.
the sauna ans swimming pool were great, staff was friendly and breakfast buffet was very extensive and yummy all was good, would have liked to stay longer
Lovely staff, warm rooms, free internet access in public area, nice pool,
Helpful and efficient staff, good food and attractive swimming pool
Nothing is in English. We got to the town on Sat. Around 4pm, everything was closed down, and had been closed since 12/1pm!!! We came to the town looking to ski and do the spa thing, we thought our hotel was spa oriented but could not find the spa facilities (other than the pool/sauna). The hotel was very expensive for not getting much.
This was a clean room and the bed was very comfortable. It would have been more convenient to have a phone in the room. It also would have been nice to have other channels to choose from, and in english.
The hotel manager and staff were very courteous and professional. As an American who did not speak fluent German I felt very comfortable in this environment. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to other Americans visiting that part of Germany.
We liked the friendly manager/owner and the warm welcome. Also we liked the food The room was tiny and did not have room for suitcases or any luggage at all. I realize it was a cheap hotel but this room was sub-standard
Very good breakfast service. The room was not vented before I arrived (I think a few days ago... ).
Breakfast was good. Unfortunately we were unable to have dinner at hotel - restaurant was too smoky! Directions to hotel were non existent - driving through Sonthofen was very confusing. Street signs were either non existent or they were so small, one was unable to read them. Smoky dinner restaurant.
fantastic food and wonderful room
Very clean and pleasant, near to downtown, accessible. Room (#4) was really very large, plenty of storage and two balconies.
Zum Ratsherrn is extremely affordable but clean and comfortable. It's close to major ski resorts and makes for a great weekend get-away. Great breakfast and super friendly and smiley staff.
The landlord is a very nice and friendly man.
Good food and sevice
The rooms are nice, even if I had a tiny tiny small one (264), where I could hardly walk around! The smallest room I have ever seen! The pool is warm for swimming, the food nice and the staff friendly. The reception is far from parking. The wellness closes at 20.00 which is very early for business travelleres, like myself who like to finish the day with swimming, sauna and steam-bath. I only made it for 30 minutes and then had to rush down to make it for dinner in the restaurant. I did not like the fact that I was automatically put together with other single travellers - without asking me first.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was lovely and the mountain views from seats placed outside in the snow with blankets provided were wonderful. Internet was available in the public rooms but had to be paid for (only 5 euros per hour) and cut off at the end of the paid period. I found this very annoying and unacceptable in a high star hotel. It is very petty to charge for internet in this day and age.
The staff was wonderful and spoke enough English that we were able to understand. Didn't use the facilities however the pool and pool area looked nice, pool was on the smaller size. Food in the restaurant was was very good for both dinner and breakfast. The pictures of the hotel on the website shows the hotel pretty much by itself which is very misleading. We actually had a hard time finding it because of this as there's other buildings all around it. The hotel is older however kept up very well. It looks as though the dining area and lounge have been recently redone and rooms where very clean.
Big difference with 4* business hotels, which has both pro's and con's. Nice relaxed atmosphere, personal attention from staff and wonderful location with magnificent view on the surrounding mountains. When I was there (almost 60 myself) the hotel felt a bit like an elderly home, as (probably due to time of year) there were a lot of old people.
rooms were nice, clean, staff was friendly, breakfast was good, location of hotel was good
The pool and sauna facilities. No single lift to get to our floor.
the relaxing atmosphere- no
The rooms were very clean. The staff excellent The facility is aging and could use some renovation.
the use of the bicycle - it is a good town to bicycle in.
