Pros: I loved this Guest house, it was warm, friendly and the rooms were exceptionally attractive and chic, with great design and thoughtful extra touches, such as plug and USB port chargers, a lovely desk, great view from the hill top, so near the station and the sea front. Fabulous bike parking and tools and oil for the next day. Perfect. Also, catered for vegans with a brilliant breakfast without being told in advance.

Pros: Breakfast was cooked to order and very well may i add every morning. Maggie the owner of the B&B had useful local knowledge for my partner and i and provides lovely cakes/scones etc everyday upon cleaning your cottage/apartment which is a treat to return too! My partner and i slept very well every night, due to the location there is very little if any noise at night and the curtains were completely blackout which made it ideal for sleep.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maggie is a great host! Every day, when we came back to our room there was fresh bakery, like shortbread or raisin rolls. And she and her husband like to share information and help you with a nice day out. They also did a terrific job with the hall. It has a great ambiance, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The freshly prepared breakfast was wonderful too. So we had a fabulous stay here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room with four poster bed.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rowrah Hall is elegant and cozy at the same time and is one of the best places my husband and I have ever stayed—and we have both traveled internationally a lot. When the owner took us to our rooms (one for us & one for our daughter & boyfriend), she had freshly made slices of delicious sweet bread waiting for us. She offered to do our laundry for free and had it ready for us before breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was great —many options including salmon and eggs or a full English breakfast. Also many cereal options including fresh multigrain granola w nuts and fruit. The owner was kind and chatty and knowledgeable about the Coast to Coast walk we are doing. Everything first rate!
Cons: Loved everything!

Cons: Nothing -everything was of the highest standard and exceeded my expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Grovewood House, is like a little piece of Heaven. The owner "Elaine" is a true gem, she can not do enough for you. Her own cooked flapjack jack and bread is to die for, which is left in your room daily. The bedroom is out of this world, having the most comfiest bed in the world and having everything at hand you could possibly want. There is fridge in your room, this contains your breakfast with a variety of foods stored inside. This was perfect for us because it meant we wasn't having to stick with a timetable for breakfasts in the morning. You can just graze at will, perfect! Has the bedroom is exceptionally nice, the bathroom is in a league of its own! It is huge....the double shower with steam room and blue tooth speakers. It has two amazing the sinks, but the jacuzzi bath is to die for. I recommend night time baths to get the full benefits of the multi-coloured lights in the bath. I cannot say enough positive and amazing things about this guest house...other than book it and try!!. you will not be disappointed!

Pros: Beautiful views overlooking valley. Met with a smile and given a tour of the B&B, told I could treat it like a home from home - use the kitchen, microwave, fridge. I was able to order a take away for my evening room, which as a single traveller is a nice touch as dining out alone can be a bit cumbersome. No bath however, facilities clean and tidy. Comfy bed and overall a pleasurable stay. When next in the area I would definitely stay here.

Pros: From the scenery, to the large room, comfy bed, the experience overall was just incredible!! I can't wait to come back!
Cons: I didn't like the fact that I couldn't stay forever....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As we had just taken delivery of a new Tesla, the fact that there was a destination charger that made me choose this hotel. Then, to discover the history and importance of this place, I was hooked. Even though we were only staying for one night the attention to comfort was so nice. Fresh milk in a flask was a lovely touch and the room more than lived up to our expectations. I was like living in a stately home. Window seats and a comfortable four poster bed just made me feel really special. When you stepped into the bathroom I was expecting a similar theme but wisely there was a rather super jacuzzi bath and modern loo so n chamber pots for us! The hosts were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely visit again. Thank you.
Cons: Perhaps a slightly more slick dinner service but the chef was off and there were some unexpected dinner guests who had not booked so it was easy to forgive this - the food was worth the wait.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and amazing hotel
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a most interesting property with a history going back 700 years adjacent to the site of a Roman camp. Provided a freshly cooked 'full English' breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great setting and a real sense of history. Staff were friendly and chef was enthusiastic about providing us with various options for our vegan dinner. Chatting through dishes and speaking to us afterwards for feedback. Also provided the four of us with vegan breakfast.
Cons: Being a very old property in parts, plumbing was a little unreliable but didn’t detract from our enjoyment of our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Building was glorious and can imagine it in winter with all the open fires lit. Shower was quite funky and excellent
Cons: One of the dishes on the evening menu was disappointing
6.7 Good
Pros: Excellent restaurant food

Pros: Location, cleanliness and comfort
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: We always stay here when visiting family. Excellent breakfast, spot on room, staff that we saw friendly.
Cons: Noise. The room where we stayed wasn't well soundproofed. People above us on our first night very heavy footed in the early hours, disturbing me and my daughter.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff were friendly, the rooms were clean
Cons: The family room didn't have enough storage space
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff are excellent! Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area.
Cons: Our room was stiflingly hot! Over 28•C and NO air con! Absolutely crazy! The window only opens a couple of inches, and other than an electric fan that was blowing hot air, there was no way of cooling the room. Whilst the beds were comfortable, we couldn’t sleep because of the heat. This is a major downfall and really should be addressed, especially with the hotter weather we are experiencing in our country year on year. It does deter me from staying at a Premier Inn again. A designated smoking area would also be helpful, so as us non smokers don’t have to walk through a plume of smoke to get in and out of the foyer to the rooms. It also would stop the foyer from stinking of cigarettes.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The beds were very comfy
Cons: The family room was very stuffy. The bathroom had no ventilation and had a disgusting damp odour which we couldn't get rid off. The bathroom was a real let down
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast choice was amazing
Cons: We were disappointed with the hardness of the beds
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Food was excelant
Cons: It's night excellent 2nd night not so good occupants of room above very noisey

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and big hearty breakfast.
Cons: Limited parking . Luckily just got in last space available.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Slow WiFi. You could not watch the TV from the bed you would have to stand by a wall. Could do with some curtains rather than just blinds. Why not have a few pictures on the walls to make it look a little more cosy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything good
Cons: Room view
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly situated in Whitehaven with easy access to tourists attractions and pus / restaurants. Our room was on the first floor, lovely big bed (and comfy too), nice decor, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities - and surprisingly quiet too. The hotel had its own relaxed bar - which closed at 11 - great for us as we were directly above it.
Cons: Nothing really - apart from the parking - it's VERY limited! We were lucky and got the last space as someone had just left. Paid parking close by though so not too much of an issue.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, quiet comfortable room. I have used this hotel regularly over the last 3 years. I prefer the friendliness of a 'family' run hotel to the larger hotel chains.
Cons: Parking can be limited but I have always managed to find a slot for my vehicle. Nothing else not to like, its a dated building but that adds to the character.
7.1 Good
Pros: Food was excellent, room was good, staff where excellent
Cons: Wifi not good, view from room poor

Cons: Parts of the hotel are obviously still in the process of refurbishment so a little scruffy.

Cons: No towel rail or door hook to hang anything on. Hotel in areas needs updating.

Pros: The location and people at the Manor are exceptional. The food was so good both for dinner and breakfast.
Cons: We were fine, but if you are there on a Friday or Saturday night when there is music and need to go to sleep before midnight, just bring some ear plugs and you'll be fine.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was a good 'local' hotel that looks after the locals as well as passing guests. Very hard to aim for both markets but not doing a bad job. Very friendly, and interesting owner! Thanks.
Cons: The meal was not of the standard, something that is quite common, aiming too high with too much choice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The loacation was perfect, good for walking or sightseeing by car. Staff were peasant. The double room was tastfully decorated, a good size and not too cramped. The bed was very ccomfortable. Tea, coffee and biscuits were available in the room. The bathroom was also roomy. There was plenty of hot water, shower over bath worked well and it was spotlessly clean with towels being changed each day. There was a good cooked breakfast of your choice. A very pleasant young lady seved us on the second morning. We also chose to dine in the restaurant the first night which was very good.
Cons: The wash basin in the bathroom was tiny and very low down, the toilet was also low. Almost like a cloakroom set. Did not get much sleep both nights because of the fire safety light on the bedroom ceiling which lit up the room when it was dark. This did no service to the blinds and blackout curtains at the windows which would have been excellent otherwise. There was no hairdryer in our room, however our friends had one in their room. Breakfast the first morning, Sunday, was totally unorganised. We should have been sat at a table for four but there were only two tables for two set up in the smaller dining area so we had to sit apart from our friends and talk accross the room to each other. Bearing in mind all other eight guests had already been served, the lady serving breakfast was only able to take one order at a time. Step 1. Tea or coffee? Step 2. Brown or white toast? Step 3. Did we want a full breakfast? Each step was undertaken before we were asked the next, therfore our toast came and was gone long before our cooked breakfast was served. My husbands toast resembled crisp bread which was inedible. Then our friends went through the same procedure after us which meant we were finished and waiting for them. The juices needed replenishing and there were no glasses left. These had to be asked for. We didn't get asked if we wanted more toast, tea or coffee or anything else. I'm sure this lady would benefit from some extra training given by the young lady serving breakfast on the Monday morning. She got it spot on.

Pros: Location and the staff
Cons: Well...the pillows were a bit of battle in the night. Might be more of a personal preference but thought I would mention it. A bit big and firm for my liking.

Pros: Group of cyclists doing the C2C in wet weather. Comfy warm rooms and very helpful staff.
