The staff was friendly and helpful. The accomodation and location were pleasant and peaceful .Comparatively very good value .
Brand new building - tres chic - avant garde to a fault. Expansive common areas exquisite. Helpful and pleasant reception staff. Excellent facilities in room we had; big refrigerator, micro wave, DVD, stereo, etc., but no English TV (seemingly infinite number of French and Spanish channels). Parking adequate, but unsecured. Close to beach. Good wifi, but make sure it works on check-in; ours only worked the day after we arrived, due to some lag in setup. Not inexpensive, but reasonable value for price, and worth risking deposit. We were in the hotel in late April, but temperature was 32C, and air conditioning was not operational. With only a duvet, sleeping was difficult. Beds somewhat soft. Not really set up for p't't dej, expensive and very basic - go to fast food place on beach. Limited reception hours, desk closed at 5 PM. As another reviewer has indicated, the hydrotherapy bathtubs can be a challenge to get into and out of.
the man who greeted us on arrival was very friendly, spoke English extremely well and was very helpful. The room was spacios, clean and very inviting. On leaving we were given wonderful advice on places of interest along our journey. Will definately return. thank you
A beautiful location, away from the "maddening crowd, with a lovely ambience. Loved the decor with a touch of the best of Indonesia ; great for those who love the sea and surf (also golf). Very welcoming and helpful consierge. None.
I was very impressed with the ambiance of the hotel, the atmosphere etc. No I liked everything about the hotel.
Very nice accomodation in a quite area just a short walk from the beach. Rooms all very modern and clean and comfortable Could have done with a supermarket within walking distance
Good kitchen facilities withi the studio No obvious way to enter the parking upon arrival - we had to ask another guess to let us in. Could not check out until 8 am. Strange and cold atmosphere. No lift.
We like everything There is no shoping around.
location to beach and biarritz ,airport and major road not user friendly in room and lack of confortable seating, bathroom not user friendly and lack of storage space, this place need a face lift it is showing its age...also we did not get the room that was reserved for us altough we had book the room 6 months in advance, we had paid 500 euro to upgrade to a two bedrooms, we were not very happy
Outstanding contemporary design and appearance. Friendly assistance from staff. Whilst there was an lovely spa bath in the room it was difficult to operate as there were no instructions. A shower would have been desirable. These small details demonstrate what a high standards this hotel offers
Go to beach
The hotel was clean and was quietly situated but convenient for restaurants, shops and golf. Nothing
The room was spacious, well equiped and very comfortable.
Beautiful old building that was unfortunately still under renovation. Many parts of the hotel were showing signs of age (the pool for example), but they were actually the mid-century additions or fixtures. I'm curious to see the hotel after the renovations are finished.
Staff were most helpful, polite & courteous We weren't advised before the stay that works were being undertaken at the hotel, the hotel was enclosed in scaffolding, our room therefore had no views.
Well placed and a very good hotel. The room we had was excellent Bathroom in the suite was not good. The bath was too narrow and shower door inadequate meaning that when using the shower it sprayed everywhere which made it a safety hazard. It would not stop me using the hotel again.
Good location with good parking. None
Everything, first class hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location. Old world charm and character about the hotel building. Everything was excellent.
Location over looking both Biarritz La Phare Golf course and Biarritz coast. Clean and quiet swimming pool. Great service. 20 up hill walk back from centre of Biarritz. Cost of drinks - 9 Euros for 50cl Biere.
Very central to Bidart centre. Clean and welcoming. Great to have parking at reasonable price. None
The hotel was clean and quiet and comfortable; generally the staff were lovely, particularly the proprietor's son, who was very friendly and went out of his way to help, even booking taxis etc. The hotel itself was perfect, but the proprietor was quite gruff with us on the last two nights of our stay. He was not at all friendly, telling us only to make sure we had checked out by eleven the next morning, not even asking us if we had had a pleasant stay. His aggressive attitude gave a sour taste to an otherwise relaxed and agreeable stay.
Friendly & accommodating staff; accommodation was large and user friendly; half hour drive to Spain & other villages & hamlets in the Pays Basque.
Friendly owners, happy to assist in any way; local attractions, directions, local knowledge etc. This charming family also run a Breton style restaurant serving Breton cuisine. Breakfasts were very good quality and value. Rooms were serviced and tidied daily and always impeccable.Convenient location in a charming town with something going on in town most nights. Nothing.
The room was bright and airy and the owners very friendly. Situated in the middle of the little town it was easy access to restaurants and only a short drive from a large supermarket. The hotel was not as close to the beach as described.
Helpness and friendliness of proprietor and his wife
location and staff really helpful
The accommodation had excellent facilities and was spacious. The owners were very helpful. The hotel was situated in the centre of the village and was close to several restaurants of excellent quality.
Good location, welcoming hosts. Well decorated, clean and spacy rooms. Parking next to hotel (free between 19.00-09.00). If room faced to the street - it can be rather noisy.
Welcoming staff, modern clean design, fantastic location. We had a fantastic stay. it took a few minutes to walk to the main beach or the shops. great
Well situated for beach, dining and sightseeing
The hotel is very centrally located and in walking distance to all areas of interest in Biarritz. The staff at the hotel were most welcoming and courteous. We found the rooms to be very comfortable, clean and well decorated. All in all a lovely hotel! Because of the hotels central location ,it can be noisy early in the morning with delivery trucks etc. However, if I am in the area again I will definitely stay at the Alcyon.
large bright room, perfect for a good sleep no
Design and room Service could be better. For example there was no way of getting a drink of water at night.
Very clean and tidy. Nice decor. Quite noisy with the window open at night.
a decent hotel, a few blocks back from the beach, smart yet small room, average breakfast.
When we arrived the receptionist was immediately aware of our reservation. She also offered to book a taxi for us for an early departure the following morning. The location of the hotel was only a short walk to the beach and shops etc.
Comfortable and clean with pleasant staff
A beautiful hotel in a very convenient location, very friendly and helpful owners, room was perfect - clean and beautifully decorated. We would certainly go there again.
Cheap. Room did not had a toilet.
This is a casual place to stay. Walls are thin.
The location was good. Short walk to beach and shops and restaurants. Bedlinen was clean as were the towels. Our room was small and badly in need of decorating.right on main road very noisy at night.i do not think this hotel rates 2 stars. We will go back to biarritz but not to this hotel. The hotel needs a total makeover . dark and dingey.
Close to city centre. Very expensive and I wouldn't recommend the hotel to my friends.
Price Location - a bit too far away. Room needs decorating. Staff pretty miserable.
There was an option of secure parking for an extra 9 euros per day, which was just opposite the hotel. The hotel has character, but it is old and requires some improvements. The breakfast buffet for 8.50 euros was poor. For a continental style meal, it lacked any meat or cheese. The orange juice was watery, the whole meal was a disaster.
Lovely hotel, really enjoyed the stay. Great value
Price Not the cheeriest of staff but adequate
It's location. Cleaness. Good if you want just to sleep. Very basic. It needs to be somewhat reformed. The hair dryer was not eficient at all.
Quick check-in with helpful staff. Rooms small and well worn. Bathroom adequate if small. Room had not been cleaned out properly and sheets were dirty. Hotel slightly further from town centre than we had expected.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Excellent food. We arrived at 1600 hours. Dinner commenced at 1900 hours. There was a small outside seating area, where it would have been nice if we could have purchased a beer/wine instead of having to wait until we were eating.
The restaurant was good, meals delivered quickly. Good variety of menu to choose. Staff pleasant. Beds comfortable. bathroom facilities very good. It's a very good choice for young families
Excellently run, newly refurbished and clean throughout, food service good, especially for an en route autoroute location
I did not have any serious problems with the hotel although it was in need of redecoration, the staff were fine. Only the price was a problem. Campanile hotels in general are overpriced, the rooms are not really large enough to accomodate three people in comfort.
nice place, good restaurant
A basic, practical, no frills, hotel for the business traveller. A basic but good restaurant. Rooms are too small and for upper floor guests there is no lift or any offer of assistance with luggage. Sound from adjoining rooms easily pentrates.
Kettle in room and a great shower The only problem was that there was no breakfast available at 9:30 as the croissants, bread and coffee had finished!!
Easy to find, standard Campanile hotel.
The receptionist on arrival (carol) was very helpful and spoke english willingly, other staff struggles with english but she helped out. The room was well maintained and the Power shower was the best I have experienced anywhere - fantastic! Food was reasonable and well prepared. Parking was free and the hotel was easy to find. Bar facilities were difficult ro understand - we ended up only ordering drinks with our Meal, maybe I didnt understand the set up and should have asked?
A convenient budget hotel with facilities that lots of more expensive hotels do not have and they let us check in 2 hours early Nothing
Location was good and the price was reasonable. Loved the old fashioned lift. Comfortable and relaxing although it was disappointing that on my second night I was told that the hotel bar was closed. Although it was two in the morning the hotel information pack clearly said that it was always open.
The location of the hotel was very good The room was quite small and dark considering it was supposed to be 'superior'.
Being so central
The room and everything in it was sloping. Very uncomfortable and disorientating. The hotel was not full but the hotel allotted what must be the worse room. The bathroom was like a not very nice antique and the noise from outside the hotel horrendous-no soundproofing no double glazing.I feel sorry for anyone staying here longer than one night. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Depressing experience and worst value for money.
Location and excellent breakfast buffet The room had a slanted floor which translated into a slanted bed - akward sleeping....parking facilities not far away but you needed to collect from and return to the front desk the gate's opening card each time you used it .
Great location. Right in the heart of Bayonne. Could walk to everywhere from the hotel.
Excellent location and friendly service.
location Facilities too basic
We found all was very good. The car parking in the allocated place was rather difficult but all in all it started off our holiday well.
Easy check in secure car parking Too basic, TV had no international news channel very poor signal. Only a stool to sit on in the room. Towels very small.
This hotel was a gem for the price a simple motel in a good area with lots of bars and resturants the staff were very friendly rooms simple and clean breakfast ok we had a dog with us and they were very helpful and friendly with her to
Excellent value and convenient for bus stops (with excellent services to Biarittz, Bayonne and St Jean). Free parking which appeared reasonably safe. Television very high. You cant check in until 5pm (whereas anyone without a booking can use the external machines to get in straight away if rooms are available). It is a long walk from the airport - other value hotels are closer.
The restaurant just outside the hotel was very good and not too expensive.
The staff were very pleasant, polite and attentive. The hotel location was very good for Bayonne, Biaritz and San Sebastien
The room was comfortable and clean and served our purpose of an overnight stop adequately. No
THe hotel is well run, clean and welcoming. The staff were very organised and quickly made one feel welcome. Breakfast was well presented and of good quality
great location for a stop when driving from Spain to England not great signposting
Good parking. Clean. Easy to find and restaurant, bars and shops close by. easy access to the coast and golf courses. No air con. and noisy with the window open.
Location just far enough away from the motorway to be peaceful; close to restaurants and bars.Hotel had a spacious feel on arrival. Staff friendly. Good value for money. Room a bit spartan - one small stool to sit on and shower a bit cramped.
Location was excellent. The room was not too small and had a balcony with a sea view. There was also a large Bath tub which was loved by my girlfriend.
Breakfast in our room
The coffee delivered to our room in the morning - charming hotel - cute little room - very clean and comfortable - great location - walk to all
Good location Room had a musty smell and was small, no proper toilet door
The hotel was well situated with a good choice of restaurants nearby. Rooms were basic but comfortable and an ideal choice for our purpose.
The location of the hotel and value for money Lackof parking butrealise that this is a problem with all hotels in the area
Our flight had been cancelled due to the general strike in France. The manager was so helpful, contacting the airport, allowing us to use their computer and printing new boarding passess.
A clean hotel that was not quite as expected. The rooms were clean but the decor was dated but okay for a night. The hotel was dated and needed a few repairs here and there
Hotel was very central. On the same street as pubs, cafes etc... and the beach is really close too.
Very close to the beach and all the shops. Great location. Very nice clean hotel. Would stay again.
Grand old hotel in wonderful position, maintaining its historically high standards. Some confusion about the two restaurants, which seem to share the same dining room but offer different menus.
Entrance to the Hotel was fabulous as were all the communal areas The room we were issued was in need of repair and re-decoration
Pool area , bar and restaurant are excellent. Our room was small and the bathroom was dated.
Everything, the rooms are luxurious, the staff is professional and friendly, the building is beautiful. The best of European hospitality. And the food...glorious!!!
location and view from dining room place is showing its age, and its cost for rooms and meals are far too high. breakfast for 1 person was 50 euro, about $60 USD. the ocean view room i reserved from kayak was $550, and the only view of the water was from a side window; you had to right up next to the window to even see the water or beach. when i complained, they said that since you can see the water from the window, it qualifies as ocean view. we got misled from the check in girl as to when our room would be ready, and got fast double talk as to what happened. there also appears to be some wiggle room between what we learned about the room from kayak and what the hotel provided. kind of a bait and switch. we won't be back.
I liked my staying in the hotel. Good lacation.
unhelpful staff, no parking, rooms way too hot, no air conditioning, no fans and if you leave the window open the noise from the street and people in bars making noise until 4.30am will keep you awake
The manager very friendly and accommodating Directions to car parking by assistance not very clear a map would be helpful, given the language barrier. We still await our query as to whether or not they have found our lost telephone battery charger!!! All double bedrooms not to same standard although the cost is the same.
I liked the flexibility of the room key/ front door key using a code to enter. Good house keeping, clean rooms and lovely big shower, triple room very good.
Tres bonne location entre la plage et le centre ville. Ils ont meme une terrace pour le petit dejeuner. Very good location between the beach and the center city, they also have an outside space for the breakfast.
Convenience of being central, friendliness of staff, comfort and cleanliness. Also the opportunity to sit outside or in the salon. We would have liked hotter coffee, served in a cafetiere rather than a jug.
The neibourhood can be noisy- nearby bars go on very late 2pm or so - with no air con can be a problem to have windows open on hot evenings.
Charming staff, excellent location and just right for our time in Biarritz. Four flights of stairs to our room :-(
It was right in the centre of bars and restaurants and 2 minutes walk away from a beautiful cove
Staff were nice; room was cozy; stay was short, but good.
We had a room over looking the area of the chocolate makers in the old part of the city , there were light blue flags for the local rugby team all around the street and light blue flowers on our balcony wonderful . Nothing .
Friendly and helpful staff, each rooms decorated differently, in the town centre
Good location, nice stuff, reasonable price. No at this price.
The position! Right in the centre of town. The breakfast room had Louis XV decor. Most unusual for a B & B. We shared the toilets & shower which were not very well maintained.
It was bang in the centre of a very nice town with very friendly people and nice shops. It was ideal and close to the rugby ground and all the restaurants very near the cathedral. I was not aware when booking that Room 2 which I was allocated was the only room in the hotel without en-suite facilities. The toilet and bathroom were about fifeteen yards away down a very long corridor. My friends booked much later and had a room with two double beds and a shower and toilets. I only had a sink.
Central location in old city, close to restaurants, shops - and reasonably close to railway station Noisy in early morning, with street-cleaning, rubbish collection, etc. Number of stairs would be difficult for some (although not for us).
A fantastic location, very central with great views. Clean room, with a nice feel to it, and helpful staff. Also had a cat! We didn't discover until we checked in that our room was not en suite - the toilet and shower were the other side of the corridor, and, whilst clean, was not veru pleasant to use
Room 16 overlooking the interior courtyard / staircase was very pleasant. I asked for a room on the top floor and got it. I was surprised that I was expected to arrive by 19:00 as I don't remember seeing this at the time of booking. However, the hotelier stayed there until I did arrive, so it was all OK in the end
The hotel is marvelous. I don't have enough word to explain how I felt when I saw it. Althoug it doesn't have new furniture and is not luxurious, the best word to describe it is perfection itself!
Good location in the heart of the "old Town" pedestrianised area with easy access to buses for further afield. Reception at 1st floor with no lift made access to our rooms on the fourth floor quite demanding.
The hotel decor was tired and needs modernising .
Good situation, on Golf course and near beach & seafood restaurant at La Barre Looked tired: shower had to be hand held; lights flickered and 1 bulb hung out of socket.
The Restaurant did not open on the Saturday night and we wanted to eat in
The hotel is well situated being centre of the golf area and approx 300 metres to the beach. The gorunds around the hotel are pleasant and relaxing with many trees, grass, birds etc. The meals are excellant, with a good choice/selection for breakfast. the hotel staff are very helpfull and pleasant. The main rooms are a good size but the toilet and bathrooms are both very small. One had to almost stand on the toilet seat to close the door. Dispite advertising that they had SKY channel the hotel did not. CNBC was the only English speaking channel available on the TV
Excellent service from receptionist No food or bar available
swimming pool indoors heating wasnt working in the room
the people who ran the hotel were very helpful and kind. The indoor swimming pool was darkly-lit and on all the rainy days we had, it was not a cheerful place to be. The acoustics in the pool/jacuzzi area were deafening, so much so that I only used it once. We're not golfers, so for us the hotel is just too far away from any commercial center - in the middle of nowhere.
A very warm welcome and friendly hotel. We enjoyed our stay, the staff were excellent, facilities very good however the rooms were quite basic but adequate. Close to the beach and on a golf course what more could you ask for? Would recommend to anyone visiting this area. Rooms basic but adequate.
situation of the hotel was very good and the pool area was excellent One of our rooms had a recess in the wall covered by a curtain as a wardrobe - I did not think that this was appropriate as furniture. THe air conditing unit was very loud also
relaxed by the swimming pool
The hotel is very central, within 10 minutes walk from the town centre and just a short taxi ride to the airport. The pool annd loungers are also a nice bonus. We couldn't get a late check out and although there was a room for us to store our luggage there were no shower facilities or room held aside to freshen up before our evening flight home.
Breakfast!!! 8 euros for wi-fi, very noisy traffic and the rooms are not sound proof!!!
The cleanliness was good, the location was walkable to the main town & it provided parking, though @ extra cost Not up to the expected standard for a 3 star hotel. Our deluxe room certainly was very basic.
An iron in the room would have being good a satlite tv with english channels otherwise ok
Cheap and cheerful not too far away from city centre but its up an incline
The personnel is very pleasant!
the location was good and the buffet breakfast was excellent the plastic sheets on the bed were annoying and a bit of a turn off
I booked this hotel because it was close to to the centre of Biarritz and was reasonably priced in comparison with similarly located hotels. Lack of air-conditioning. Lack of restraunt facilities.
Good value. Pleasant staff and only a short walk to the restaurants, seafront and shops.
Cute and comfortable room, reasonable price, wonderful staff, good location
The peace and quiet No
friendly and efficient owners, rooms perfectly clean and comfortable, bus service to center very easy. room at 3rd floor, no lift and too many stairs (left our luggage at the reception). Flushing system of the toilets makes a loud and strange sound. no food option whatsoever.
very clean! everyday room cleaned, sheets and towels changed bathroom wiped dow and the bed very comfortable. situation was fine for both town cenbtre and the beaches, it was also relatively close to local buses and railway stn.Hotel managers were always helpful, breakfast was plain but adequate. For the price it was good value Not a dislike just an observation, Biarritz is not a cheap town and the hotel gardenia is at the budget end so you do get what you pay for it looks a little tired particularly from the outside but my room looked fairly recently repainted and as i already said it was impressively clean. Iwas there early sept and the weather was very warm but there was no air con so i suspect that in the height of summer the room could get quite hot.
Friendly owners and nice area. Carpets a bit old and dirty.
A small room with low ceilings. It hurts bumped his head. Strong audible in the rooms.
I booked this hotel as it stated on your information airport shuttle this was not available until 9.30 and I needed to leave the hotel at 8.00 I had to pay 20 euros for a taxi. No time restriction was mentioned in the hotel write up. As a lady travelling alone I wanted to know that all things were in place and that I could get to the airport without problems
Facilities and proximity to sea no
The free use of the sea water pool
It's much more than a 2-star hotel, comfortable, clean, quiet place 100 m from the beach, and with free access to the seawater pool. Kind and friendly staff. Parking and breakfast- buffet included in the price. Spacious room, air-conditioned. The bathroom needs a little restoration. Our room didn't have a balcony.
The staff at reception (Manu and another gentleman with black hair and glasses) were extremely nice and very helpful. I would stay at the hotel again due to this reason. The interior of the rooms needs to be modernised as the decor is quite dated.
Only used as an overnight stop Staff not particularly welcoming or friendly, glad we stayed only one night
Very helpful staff and lovely room Not something I disliked but could have had sunloungers on our lovely balcony!
Reserver pour 2 recu resa de kayak pour 1 personne Obliger de paye sup de 8€ pour mon epouse !
hotel is well situated near town centre and historic quarter. Our room was small but clean and adequate. Tea/coffee/kettle tray available on request at no charge. Nice staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff, and well located near beach and city center. No bath in our room, no fridge in room.
The staffs were very helpful and nice. There was a stain on the sheet, we told them and they changed them immediately.
friendly staff. good location..room well appointed.breakfast choice good with continental and hot choices. lift could do with modernising
It was very nice staying at Kemaris. The room was clearn, well designed, and the staff were very helpful.
We came driving from San Sebastian and the hotel was really easy to find. Dont forget to book a parking spot if you go by car. Parking right by the hotel was perfect. Staff was really service minded and nice. Rooms was flawless and cosy. Breakfast included good mix of healthy options mixed with a little vacation snack.
No nonsense, good efficient staff, good breakfast. All in all will go back. Nothing
My partner and I stayed for 1 night in this hotel - We loved it and the staff were very helpfull & had good English also! There are lots of Tapas and Wine Bars nearby and the market is less than 5 mins away! Also the staff recomended an excellent restaurant nearby... which was filled with locals! This is a great hotel - We paid extra for the large balcony whuch was lovely... and it was nice to sit out and have our breakfast in the morning sun!I would deffo stay here again! No Complaints!
Nice room, very helpful staff
The room was very nice indeed. Very modern and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As much as I liked the hotel room the only draw back was the lack of privacy for the bathroom (no door) which may sometimes be required!
Very central location which suited us very well - handy to beach and restaurants. We liked the bedroom floors and the fact that the shower was walk-in, not in a bath. We were upgraded to a 'superior room' which was on the ground floor. The shallow sinks are the silliest design ever - stylish but silly. The staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately gave us wrong information about the bus to San Sebastian and we missed it!
Location in the centre of the city, not so far from the ocean First of all: I booked a hotel at 21-00, came at 23-00. The hotel was closed despite the fact that it was stated that "reception - 24 hours" I had to call and wait for the manager 20 minutes! After that, he had long wished not to give the room, because "reservation has been made too late." This is unacceptable!
