Pros: Liked everything including history and location!
Cons: Some street noise on Fri night
Pros: Very friendly staff, beautiful Christmas decorations, nice room. We had a great time.
Cons: The exercise equipment could be better. The power was off to the elliptical machine.
Pros: We very much enjoyed our stay at the Julien and will stay again. The location was excellent for walking to various bars, nightclubs and gambling as well as several excellent local food establishments in the area. Everything worked out perfectly for us.
Pros: The hotel staff were very professional and welcoming. The room was nice and very clean.
Pros: The hotel was extraordinary, with amenities comparable to luxury hotels such as the Drake or the Palmer House in Chicago without the pretension or price tag. I will definitely be back.
Pros: We were on our 10th anniversary. A quick check put Hotel Julien in line with cost wise Holiday Inn. That's practically comical. Hotel Julien was beautiful and full of character. To say, 'they don't make 'em like they used to' is a relevant opinion when comparing this to anything you think of as a modern 'hotel'.
Cons: Not one thing. Excellent experience.
Pros: The Hotel Julien Dubuque was one hotel I have spent the night where I could not find one thing to be disappointed in. The staff was very friendly and experienced. The rooms and premises overall was renovated/restored to it's original grandeur with the highest quality of craftsmanship that makes staying here feel luxurious. The price for what is offered is very fair. Will definitely stay again!
Pros: great stay excellent food good location will stay again
Pros: Everyone was so friendly and the room was beautiful.
Cons: It was pricey. I've always wanted to stay there but not sure I'll do it again because of the price.
Pros: I enjoyed the pool, hot tub, exercise room, beautiful lobby, the bar in Caroline's, clean room.
Cons: Our room only had one chair in it and there were two of us so someone had to sit on the bed.

Guests can visit the spa to indulge in hot stone massages, detox wraps, or facials, and Carolines Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pros: Beautiful old building, old world Comfort, great location for downtown Dubuque, quiet
Cons: The owner was quirky to the point of being bossy, argued about the air conditioning when I though the room too cold, wrestled my suitcase out of my hand when I wanted to carry it myself twice, was weird at breakfast when guests approached the buffet table before being served with the hot portion of their breakfast, barked "you don't get it" at us, served different hot breakfast portion to different people but offered no choice, there were no decaf pods for the keurig i provided my own but 25 mins later there was no sign of my coffee.
Pros: The hotels proximity to everything is fantastic. We were able to walk everywhere. The bed was very comfortable and the provided breakfast was very good. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for something a little different with some history.
Cons: We stayed over a weekend, so parking was not an issue. There's a large public lot next to the hotel that is free during the weekends. However, if you stay during the week, parking may be an issue. You would likely have to feed meters constantly to park close to the hotel.
It has, likely original, single paned windows. We were woken up by garbage collections Saturday morning ~5am. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but if you do, noise may be a concern.
Pros: Robert, the owner, and inn keeper, was the upmost gentleman, and really catered to my daughter, and I. Service was wonderful, and the French breakfast was delicious!
Pros: Everything! !! And the man that works there was phenomenal. ...
Cons: Parking was unclear
Pros: Location was close to everything we could have wanted to do. Wish we had more time to explore. The rooms were nice and the Innkeeper was very friendly. Plenty of space in the 2 rooms we had.
Cons: Some rooms needed a little work but the building is VERY old and one person can only do so much at a time. There was nothing that hindered our stay just some aesthetic things that might bother picky people. :)
When visiting Dubuque, Redstone Inn And Suites is a great choice to consider. Free perks include full breakfast daily and WiFi. Bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves are offered in all rooms, along with flat-screen TVs and premium bedding.
Pros: What I liked:
-Staff was friendly, but not too friendly, and very professional.
-The hotel itself was great, clean, and pool was pretty sweet.
Cons: What I didn't like:
-Fitness room was neglected. I found empty water cups on the treadmills. They had a Culligan water dispenser so I grab a cup and push the nozzle, and like three drops come out and its empty. So I went to front desk snack bar and bought a bottle of water. Staff only then, after realizing it was empty, replaced the water jug in the dispenser right in front of me. Rude.
-Also the multi-purpose strength machine needs to be greased up. The central pulley is used on all the stations and has like 3 feet of travel. Well the first foot of travel is fine, then after that the pulleys drag on rust and stop: so instead of the pulleys rolling with the cable like they are supposed to, the cable drags along a stuck pulley - rendering any exercise useless because you essentially only get 6 inches of motion.
Pros: Staff friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Housekeeping is poor. We stayed for a week and room was barely touched with the exception of replacing towels beds were barely made and room was never vacuumed.
Pros: Clean, attractive, comfortable, quiet facilities. Professional front desk staff. Decent food for breakfast.
Cons: The first night we stayed, the elevator broke down twice. The first time, it left me stranded on the first floor. The second time, they didn't even bother to put a sign on the 3rd floor elevator door, so I waited an extremely long time to go down. Surprisingly, there is only one elevator for the entire building. Maybe they should update the controls. Also, the free desktop computers in the lobby use a very outdated Internet Explorer, and kept crashing. That should be updated also.
Pros: The pool
Pros: The location was very convenient.
Cons: Room had dead bugs on window ledge and more live bugs in room so we switched rooms and later saw bugs in hallway . Staff apologized but were insincere about the issue.

Pros: The staff were wonderful and responsive to my needs.
Cons: The mattress looked and felt like a motel 6. There was a big indentation in the middle.
Pros: The room was clean and updated. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were good. Location was good, attached to a casino and a good restaurant.
Cons: The walls are paper thin. Spent two nights but didn't get eight hours between them. Simple things that Super 8 and Motel 6 offer like free WiFi. Breakfast was there but, holy cow! $6.95 for a continental breakfast? If you wanted eggs, bacon, hash browns, $11.95. I can see why the Hiltons have so much money.
Pros: It was comfortable. Staff was friendly. Access to pool and gym.
Cons: One of the pillow cases had stains on it. The whirlpool was not all that great. I was expecting something bigger for at least two people. Having to pay for continental breakfast.
Pros: Great location and close to everything. The room was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Pros: i got extra pillows and lotion without feeling i was putting them out. keurig coffee machine was great once i figured it out. there are 2 things i might criticize. the snack prices for candy varied from person to person. i recommend the breakfast , the omelets sausage and waffles were excellent but people should be warned it is not a free continetal breakfast but it is worth the price

Pros: The room was very clean - had a nice size frig and microwave and a nice pool although the hot tub was closed.
Cons: They allow animals at the hotel and since it was holiday travel for Thanksgiving, many dog owners were staying at the hotel. The dogs were barking throughout the night. Breakfast was nothing really to rave about. Overall good for the money and good location to Sundown Mountain which was our destination.

Pros: We were greeted by an lovely woman who was so friendly and helpful during our stay. The breakfast was amazing! They had a TON of food - sausage, scrambled eggs (with topping options), oatmeal with toppings, toast/bagels, waffles, yogurt, baked goods, beverages.... the food tasted good! No grey eggs here! It was the best breakfast I have experienced. It was also kept neat, tidy, and constantly replenished. Very family friendly.
Everything was very clean (and I'm pretty picky about hotel cleanliness). There was an Olive Garden right across the parking lot that was convenient and a Shopko nearby also.
Cons: The room and bathroom felt a bit small.

Pros: Very friendly greeter at the door. Lots of information and suggestions.
Pros: Had a great deal on the room after booking short notice. Location was great, right in the river with walking trail in front.
Restaurant was great place for dinner, beautiful patio.
Cons: Waterpark needs an update and not worth the extra $20.
Our bathroom was also not clean. The floor was dirty and the cleaning staff left behind a dirty rag.
Pros: Great family place for kids. Water park staff friendly and front desk friendly. Tony Roma's restaurant is a great place to eat.
Cons: Housekeeping does not come around early enough. We had left for morning 9am got back 300pm and room was dirty. Housekeeping knocked and wanted to clean and one of my kids had just started to nap. They asked if I just wanted new towels etc. In fairness they did comeback later to clean and did a nice job but why so late? The water park needs updating its fun but rust on some of the equipment. Pool floor in kiddie pool is coming up. I felt it needed work. They need a real coffee shop on campus.
Located in the Port of Dubuque, Iowa, Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark is the perfect spot for enjoying this beautiful and exciting destination area. Gather with friends for a relaxed conversation in our Tony Roma's Restaurant & Lounge, or slide into a whole new world of water fun in our 25,000 square feet indoor waterpark. Cons: Bed wasn't as comfortable as some we have stayed in. Pillows were too soft. Not the best lighting in the bathroom.
2015 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner Very beautiful Hotel located on the west side of Dubuque close to ski areas and shopping attractions. Hotel features high speed wireless internet, indoor pool and whirlpool, complimentary continental plus breakfast.
Cons: Phone app or I made a mistake and two nights not one were booked. Hotel was great but Kayak only refunded me $118.00 instead of the full $154.00. Blamed it on the hotel charging more for first night, even though app shows $154.00 for both nights. Could not find phone number on app to call immediately when I saw a confirmation of 2 nights . Got number from hotel who where great to deal with. Calling direct to hotels next time. customer service on Kayak app was horrible
Pros: Hotel was clean and in a nice location downtown
Cons: Many things in the room weren't working -- phone couldn't call out or down to front desk, fridge didn't cool properly, linens closest was locked shut, etc.
Pros: The staff were great, the rooms were very clean and we'll kept, all in historic downtown dubuque. A very enjoyable experience even though it was bussiness.
Pros: Great room for a great price. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beefstro bar and grill was great!
Dubuque Hotel Located amidst Midwest Beauty Experience the alluring culture of Dubuque the
Pros: The people working there were more then happy to accommodate you in anyway. Always trying to make your stay as special as possible.
Cons: I was surprised to see it had only 2 1/2 stars. But the second room I stayed in I could see why. The room was distressed but the bed was comfortable.
Pros: The hotel entrance was very friendly looking and the desk clerk was very accommodating. The breakfast was your typical breakfast food, but staff was right there cleaning tables once they open up and keeping it clean and available for others.
Cons: They were doing updates in the room right across the hallway from ours. They hallway had a lot of construction debri which would come into our room when we opened the door. I think our room had more dust in it because of this.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean comfortable room and bed.
Cons: Room was dirty Staff were not present at desk when needed
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: We received one of the seven smoking rooms. Thought it was a non smoking hotel.
Pros: The location was perfect for me. The staff was nice.
Cons: The TV didn't work for the first night that I was there. Attention to detail with cleanliness was not that great. I requested a 'light touch' which is just towels, basically, and it never happened.
Pros: The breakfast was good
Cons: The room was small, the bed was rock hard, and there was mold on the shower walls.
Pros: The rooms were spacious and very homey. The staff was excellent afternoon staff and morning staff. Very friendly, very helpful.
Pros: The work/study space and facilities were appreciated - main purpose of stayCommitment to stewardship of towels and detergentAvailability of housekeeping 'incidentals' when requested
Cons: --mattress MOST uncomfortable and needs to be replaced--bed linens were ancient - 'short-sheeted'--no vertical grab-bar in shower, even for non-handicapped persons--breakfast made NO provisions for sugar-free or gluten free
Cons: Bed wasn't very comfortable.
Pros: The room was spacious and a very comfortable mattress. The free breakfast was ok, but the oatmeal and the biscuits and graveyard were a little lacking.
Cons: There was a dirty fork in the room, and the room smelt a little like bleach.
Pros: Friendly special-needs cleaning crew member was nice to see.
Cons: Dumpy decor, weird smells in hallway, personal break times for front desk employees seemed very frequent.

Pros: My husband and I traveled from Ohio. We were really tired it was perfect for a relaxing night!
It's a b&b, not a hotel, which is what we wanted.
Pros: Nice location in a quiet neighborhood.
Cons: The place was a bit run down and the entryway was in need of repairs. Also, we never saw any owner/staff member. It was self-serve all the way!
Pros: I liked the privacy.
Cons: The breakfast was below expectations. The toilet room was also very small.

Pros: The room was quite clean and comfortable the bed was good. Housekeeping was great except that there was a slight invasion of tiny ants near the window on ground level room 124 which had a security problem caused by the inner and outer window's being unlatched. There was a very helpful night shift staff person on hand Sunday night the 17th of April. Very family oriented TV shows Johnny Carson reruns Mary Tyler Moore reruns etc.
Cons: ants and room security.
Pros: Reasonable rate for those on a budget. Far enough away from downtown to be quiet but still close to amenities.
Cons: No elevator to access the second floor. The heater in the room couldn't keep up with the single digit temps we had that day. Hot water didn't last very long. The pillows were terrible.
Pros: Beds were fine and flat screen tv was fine.
Cons: Hotel was really old, supposed to be 100% smoke free, but you could tell people were smoking. Lots of shady looking people staying there. Breakfast was very basic, juices tasted watered down. Walls were crumbling, cleanliness was questionable. Very loud, I could here people up and kids running around until late at night. Wouldn't recommend to anyone and I plan on never staying here again.

Rooms feature 32-inch TVs and there is no charge for kids 17 and under when accompanied by adults.
Cons: I woke up and my right arm was entirely covered in bug bites.
Cons: I almost fell three times standing in the bath tub. The tub has sides that narrows the inside standing area. I would recommend a safety bar.
Operating the window A/C was a hassle. No directions and lots of buttons not readily identified. The unit was also placed in the far corner of the room next to where the closet rack is located to hang clothes... thus reducing air flow to the room when clothes are hung up.
Pros: The recliner
Cons: No indoor pool
Pros: Beds are very comfortable, the rooms were clean, I would stay again!
Pros: The staff was helpful and courteous.
Cons: The bath tub looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in several weeks. Kinda gross.

Cons: Rooms were disgusting especially bathtub. Stains on curtain. Restaurant food was gross and burgers not cooked. Smell of oil burned my eyes in the restaurant.
Pros: It was quiet, convenient and close to the activities we wanted to do and see. THANK YOU!!!!
Cons: NOTHING! Thank you!
Pros: Mini fridge and microwave
Cons: There were odd stains on the chairs.
Pros: Got to park just outside room. Outside entrance
Cons: Decor was old, beds uncomfortable. Plumbing difficult to operate.
Cons: Section of the carpet in our room had standing water on it.

Pros: Location in Dubuque, IA was perfect; central to all the places we wanted to visit.
Cons: The building's lack of soundproofing coupled with sticking doors made for many startling jumps as our 'neighbors' slammed into and out of their adjacent rooms. Loud conversation in the parking lot was disruptive. The linens were so bleach burned and thin I had to call housekeeping for a new top sheet; the towels were so rough they actually hurt when using to dry off. When morning came I discovered where all the flies were coming from; gaps around the door clearly showed up with the light streaming through by at least 3/8 inch. Weather stripping would be a great idea. I can't image staying in winter.
Cons: Room was filthy not cleaned what so ever.. ordered non smoking... Full ash tray sitting in room.. needless to say I didn't stay
Pros: Nothing except for the staff at the desk were polite and efficient
Cons: Lower level room was damp and musty. Ceiling leaked during rain. AC control knobs broken & shafts wouldn't move. No cold water at sink. Bad beds - sheets seemed clean but were stained. No sound at TV. Worst Motel 6 stay I've had, and about the worst motels I've ever stayed in.
The Dubuque Motel 6 is conveniently located off US 20 within 5 miles of Dubuque Airport, Museum of Art, Kennedy Mall, Grand River Center, and Grand Harbor Waterpark. Enjoy our modern rooms and Wi-Fi available in all guest rooms for $1.00 per day.
