Pros: A cheerful greeting, excellent breakfast.
Cons: Arrived at the local pub at 7.10pm to be told that they’d run out of food. Directed to a pub in Totnes, arrived 7.55... once again, no food. Ended up eating an expensive inferior meal at the Seven Stars hotel. None of which was the fault of our host, but having been on the road since 8.45, it was disappointing to have to get back in the car and drive around looking for a meal. Be warned!

Cons: Perfect so nothing to not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I needed a short break at very short notice, so we didn't have high expectations of finding good accommodation. In the event we struck gold: Nichola and Graham treated us like valued friends, the accommodation really was excellent, and the breakfast large and very tasty. The location is peaceful and quite beautiful. We were incredibly lucky to find such accommodation, and it is easy to see why so many of their guests have been visiting for years
Cons: I can't think of a single criticism, and I can't think of any improvement.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great welcome and help to get parked in the lane. There were home-baked flapjack and biscuits to accompany our hot drinks in our room. Our bed was comfy and the shower room was surprisingly spacious. We had a really delicious breakfast with homemade jam and gluten-free options. There was also a bowl of fresh fruit and yoghurt, which we polished off with relish. Good coffee, too.
Cons: You need to know that the lanes to the house are quite steep and narrow, so drive carefully once you leave the main road; but we were sent excellent directions and found the cottage easily.

Cons: The Sunday evening food offering was home-made pizzas, but because we spent so long watching England win the cricket World Cup, we were too alate and had to go into Totnes to eat. That will teach us.

We were even given cream tea on arrival, which was such a special touch. We stayed in the blue room, which was lovely. The facilities are excellent and we were very pleased to find we had a fridge in our room. 8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location - excellent. Staff - excellent. Breakfast - excellent. Room was spotlessly clean and had a very comfortable bed but overall the room was quite small and the bathroom even more so. This was not a particular problem as we were only staying for one night but it was slightly smaller than we'd expected especially when compared to the price paid.
Cons: Just a slightly bigger room/bathroom. Otherwise all very good indeed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and the breakfast was cooked to perfection - very comfy stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed to die for, so comfortable. Solid quality furniture. Dog friendly. Customer service great; very friendly and arranged separate area to take dog down to breakfast. Would source a bed if needed as well. Quirky parlour/ seated area where you could play board games. Quality of breakfast exceptional; quality rather than quantity. Building very quirky and old/ interesting. Room service priced reasonably. Location just fabulous in heart of Totnes. Would stay again!
Cons: Room 7 Grouting in bathroom a bit stained and shower unit not quite up to scratch though fully functioning water runs down wall behind unit. Room wall decoration a bit busy with pictures in odd places. Crack on wall side of wardrobe but very old building. One too many drawer units. No fridge. No 24 hr desk concierge when out walking dog late at night was directed by staff to go out back door as old style stable doors locked at the front. Slightly noisy as room just over outside seating area but promptly stops when bar closed.

7.5 Good
Pros: The location is gorgeous. It was great to see people coming and going on boats and canoes. When our food turned up it was lovely. Our room was large and tastefully decorated
Cons: The staff were quite laidback which was fine but a computer error meant several customer's orders were lost . It didn't feel like it was dealt with effectively. Waiting staff weren't on the ball to check if food had arrived or if customers were waiting for food or if they were ok with the service . Our room was looking onto the water ( we paid extra) but very close to the outside seating/car park. Other people have commented about not being able to keep the blinds open because people can see in. If you had Venetian blinds(or one way glass)this would help
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location adjoining the river Dart. The room was excellent. Great view over the river. Lovely large room. Good bathroom with bath and shower. Friendly barman and waiter in the morning
Cons: Felt the restaurant waitress in the evening was disinterest. Took ages to take order even though not busy. Some delay with receiving food. Couple next to us was also getting fed up with delay with their food.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location
Cons: Narrow roads!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Food was good but a rather limited menu.
Cons: Carpets in the public areas were old and filthy. We stayed five years ago and it was nice then. No refurbishment had been done and while property looked tired an d worn. Dead plants in planeters outside. A real shame as location is very good.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast Was okay.
Cons: There was a fan noise outside our room from somewhere all night needs sorting out as it hinders sleeping we told them about this. Also the general state of repair outside was appalling. , signage was blistered window frames need painting and hanging baskets were dead. Looks like the business is in trouble!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, great food
Cons: Older rooms
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic setting. Worth the trip through the green lanes. Room was lovely a bit tired in places in the bathroom . Staff very friendly and food was wonderful.
Cons: Key fobs a bit cumbersome
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was wonderful, sitting by the river in the evening was so peaceful, and relaxing.
Cons: The shower was horrible, tiny, with a very unpredictable water temperature and volume. Spending an anxious 20 minutes on arrival not knowing whether we had a room or not, as there were guests in the room allocated to us.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Lovely location, pet friendly. Liked visiting Keith Floyd's former pub. Average fish and chip supper, wine very nice, good breakfast
Cons: Not good for staying with pets. The pub is very dog friendly however there is nowhere to walk your dog, no garden, no grass. OK for a short visit, eg lunch - but my visit was extremely difficult because of the above. Awful road to get to it that cars travel very fast along so it is not really safe to walk dogs on the road either. Room was very hot and badly needed refurbishing.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was spacious, had a comfortable sofa and view over the tidal estuary, which was perfect. Bathroom was large with a lovely comfortable bath, and ample hot water. Staff were friendly
Cons: The communal areas like corridors, and back of the hotel (ie the river side) were shabby, and unwelcoming. The breakfast offering was OK, but would have been enhanced by some fresh fruit rather than canned.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Such a lovely Inn. Owners are so welcoming. Food was fantastic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely quiet location, difficult to find late at night because of mobile coverage, but really worth it once you're there.
7.0 Good
Pros: Really nice stay, food was excellent decor nice and staff really accommodating. When we experienced a problem with our booking they went beyond the expected to sort it.
Cons: Not a negative but Attention to detail could make things that little extra, we had no milk in our rooms (milk provided when asked for) and our towels & tea bags were forgotten in 1 room, not a huge issue as we had 2 rooms but annoying if we’d only had the one room. Bottled water would be really nice or a little packet of biscuits for the boutique feel they’re aiming for.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous bath, bathroom and comfy bed. Well designed to make amazing use of the space and lovely little touches. Room above a lovely pub with amazing food, fabulous drinks and super attentive staff.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the food were just amazing, amazing, amazing Big shout out to Louis .. Top bloke
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly staff. Quirky and comfortable accommodation. We stayed in the penthouse room in the waves which we loved. The two other rooms were unoccupied and doors were open - they looked lovely too - slightly larger with good views and one of them had a small kitchenette. Delicious and innovative food. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding!
Cons: We loved everything about it, and enjoyed every minute of our stay, but for completeness... The external stairs / rear entrance were a bit stark and might not suit less able people. The heating wasn’t working properly on the night we stayed, (but they lent us a plug in convector heater, which was fine). There was still a little finishing required in our room. The steam from our bath set off the smoke alarm - reassuring but embarrassing!!! The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, but some people might appreciate the option of some fruit or toast / preserves in addition.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Where to start with what we liked!!! The room was perfect, and staff were amazing, even phoning us to see how we were getting on with travel. Then oh my goodness the breakfast.... it was the best we have had in such a long long time. Thank you for the wonderful stay!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything, friendly staff, comfy bed, nice breakfast and more.
Cons: The tight country lanes that you have to use to get to the property.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff lovely area ambitiously developed property. Loft room didn't quite work in our opinion.
Cons: Having to bend head in room because if attic loftcspace. Strange sofa looking at bath. Gorgeous bath however. Dangerous steps

Cons: It was difficult to find the hotel initially due to poor signage on site
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The gardens, the buildings, the cafes, the whole experience of being in Dartington - a very special place
Cons: No fan in room, squeaky door hinges on fire doors, the White Hart restaurant

Pros: The location
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location. Beautiful, historic property and wonderful gardens to wander at leisure.
Cons: I certainly didn’t expect to encounter a wedding reception that had a licence to play (loud) music (that reverberated round the courtyard) until 12.30 in the morning on a Sunday night. Particularly given the “where you can remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of modern life” language used In correspondence. The staff were very good at switching my room to the other side of the building when I queried how long the music would be playing for - but having unpacked and already gone to bed this was a hassle I could have done without.
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Room was very hot

Pros: The whole experience
Cons: No real bar area to get a drink after dinner
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was stunning in all ways I would Go again tomorrow
Cons: Only a slight criticism some If the restaurant staff and front desk staff could have been friendlier
5.8 Okay
Pros: The grounds
Cons: The hot stuffy unventilated bedroom

Pros: Very welcoming Staff professional and friendly . Room clean and comfortable with magnificent weeping willow tree outside the window. I am new at travelling alone and found the restaurant and bar easy to use . I have been looking for a peaceful place to spend time and think I have found it .
Cons: The almost perfect stay was marred by a customer ( I was told it was on off duty member of staff who was allowed to establish herself centrally in the bar and hold court to her family and the usually discreet bar staff so that even in the restaurant one could not avoid the strident tones , I lost interest in the content of the very loud monologue when we got to the details of her grand children’s holiday snacks and their preference for turkey rolls But I could still hear the voice in my room after I gave up and retired. Not only did it make a quiet meal to finish my stay impossible , the impression conveyed by off duty staff ‘ dominating the atmosphere males customers feel they are Intruders. I had booked to return next month and was considering cancelling my plans to return as a result. I would hesitate about inviting friends to accompany me without a reassurance that this is was exceptional,
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very homely and lovely
Cons: Although clean, bedrooms and especially bathrooms are sadly a little dated
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere, the rooms ,staff, food, location. I absolutely loved everything about it
Cons: There is not one thing I did not like
5.5 Okay
Pros: breakfast was good, well cooked and served promptly. situation was lovely
Cons: our room cost £100 for one night. it was small for the price (£70-80 would have been about right judging by other places we have stayed recently) and needed a REALLY good clean. some of the skirting was dirty as were the tops of some items of furniture. the shower cubical was small and needed replacing due to the excessive mould build up. all in all the accommodation was disappointing and needs upgrading to justify the price charged.
9.5 Excellent

Pros: Lovely pub in a quiet location situated next to the river. Friendly staff and good facilities. Dog friendly too which is great.
Cons: Smoking under our window at night wasn’t very pleasant-might be good to ask those smoking to move away from the property. Breakfast sausages weren’t very good quality.
