Very peaceful and tranquil
It is one of the best hotels that I have already stayed. It is in a calm, beautiful and romantic place. It is wonderful!
Wonderful location and views. A stylish, comfortable hotel I would like a towelling dressing gown in the room
I enjoyed the ambience, particularly the terrace for lunch. I enjoyed the architecture of the hotel. I enjoyed the view from my room which was spacious and very comfortable, especially the pillows. the food was good and the senior waiter was excellent. Nothing
Swimming Pool It is not a case of 'not liking' - if you are asked me to rate the restaurant I would have stated 'poor to fair'. Being a person with immense experience in food and wine - and taking groups to many European wine regions, I thought the hotel and service superb but the restaurant was in no way compatible. The 'degustation menu' was extremely disappointing, the wines were not served at the right te
the room and the view
The Port was great! Location in the valley and comfort of our room with our own balcony--excellent. Cleaning staff was prompt and responsive, very nice. The lighting was a little dim, it was not easy to read. Could use brighter bulbs at least at the bedside.
Peace and quiet in a beautiful location. The hotel is delightful and charming. We had a room with a terrace where we could enjoy views of the river. The restaurant was beautifully presented but the kitchen did not live up to it's over-priced menu. We were very disappointed.
Excellent view over the river Douro. Very good location to relax in a extravagant/luxory ambiance. Small balcony with two chairs or the canvas chairs near the pool let the Portwine taste even better. it is difficult to discover surrounding area by foot (no boardwalk, no hiking trails). Friendly staff, yet poorly trained.
The wonderful welcome complete with a glass of port on the terrace - the best check in ever Lack of coffee table in junior suite
Beautiful location and immaculate attention to detail. Provided everything we could possibly need. None
A beautiful setting and a well run, well equiped, and friendly hotel
The staff and location are wonderfull. A great place to relax and enjoy the wine and country
On arrival we were shown the hotel and quinta. We were met with great hospitality and felt welcome at once. Dinner was delicate and clearly made with much care.
The location and staff were first rate and better than could be expected. None
Spacious rooms, clean and comfortable Price for night not adjusted with the services offered, mainly the very poor breakfast, lots of better options in the region for 125€ a night
Superb location, attentive service, wonderful food. Fantastic - we will return.
The environment. The grave yards, the weather and sightseeing. The AC noise
The fantastic view, the quietness, the portuguese kindness, the wine, everything...
The personal touch! Filippe (and Karsten!) goes out of his way to make your stay a memorable experience.
Location - overlooking the Douro river. It's quiet and gorgeous. Hotel staff are young, helpful and attentive. They sell their own Porto wine. Beatuiful swimming pool. It's a good place to get disconnected.
The location is awesome! The road that lead up to the hotel was very narrow and the turns were very tight. They need to update directions to make it easier to find.
All in all a very pleasant experience. Superb ambiance and kitchen and friendly staff. Really nobad points related to the stay. In the quinta shop, do Pego should consider the prices for their products. For instance 20 euro for a lbv (compared to Fonseca 2003 13 euro) is a bit difficult to justify.
An absolutely fabulous setting in vineyards overlooking the duoro. Modern and very well appointed hotel with super friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Great infinity pool again with those great views. Informative wine tasting as part of the experience and very good fixed-menu dining. Only a small point but furniture in guest lounge and dining room not as tasteful as the rest of the hotel.
The view and the location are spectacular. We liked the beautifully designed (modern) rooms and furniture and the fact that we could take long walks in the vineyards surrounding the Quinta. The dogs were barking right beneath our window in the middle of the night and something must be wrong with the pipings: whenever somebody was taking a shower it was so noisy it could have been in our room. And: dinner isn't actually worth the money (30 Euros p.p.).
Outstanding property in idyllic location (albeit up a bit of a hair-raising track). The views are fantastic as is the high standard of the design and elegance of this house, it's as good as shown in the publicity pictures if not better. Carlos is a great host, always friendly and offers excellent advice on where to visit and eat. Thoroughly enjoyable visit. My only criticism, and this is probably down to the English reserve, is that the dining area consists of one long table (with fantastic views I should add) and the seating is always arranged so that you are ontop of the other guests - fine if you know them or speak their language but not so good if you want a relaxing or romantic meal.
Amazing views. Very welcoming hosts. Lovely home cooked food and great wine. Pool is a little small.
Much more than an over-night stay. Wonderful location and river views. The owner is so helpful and proud to share his home. We are looking forward to a return trip.
The views and the rooms, also food was fairly good The approach to the hotel was dangerous you had to travel along a dirt track only just wide enough for the clio I was driving and often it was very steep with shear drop on one side. Would be dangerous to attempt in the dark and hotelier said that we should have booked for dinner 24 hours before which we were not aware and were not going to attempt to leave and return in the dark,
Everything was great - hospitality of the owners, room, landscape, food, wine
Excellent stay! Fantastic views over the Douro valley, great home made food, wine and porto from own production.
The hospitable, yet not overbearing, attention from the Quinta's family-run owners was much appreciated. The atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated, but at the same time a relaxed and laid back approach was recognized and welcomed. The proximity to local towns afforded day trip excursions, and the remoteness of the Quinta allowed for much needed seclusion and quiet down time. While enjoying down time, the Quinta offered a wide array of activities on site to accommodate any age level and wine connoisseur. Not enough can be said of the personable and knowledgeable owners, however. Note: The owner’s farm dog was equally a treat, having left our own family pet at home. No issues.
For any one who enjoys Port, as a working Quinta it provides a fabulous insight into the production of Port wine. The place is very well appointed with stunning views and the owners are extremely helpful and friendly The access road is VERY dangerous as it winds its way up the mountain. It is narrow and with lethal drops of many 100's of feet just inches from the vehicle. Very un-nerving for any one with vertigo or who is not 100% sure of their driving abilities
The place is new and clean, smells good. The owners Carlos and Madalena are very special people of the kind you dont see very often. I wish I had more time to stay there at least one more day. Not really, but the road after you leave the highway could be better.
Stunning sorrounding, super friendly staff, a real gem. Be aware that you have a 25 minutes ride off the main street in the Douro vineyards. Not negative, just be aware....
The Quinta itself is very beautiful, with plenty of spaces to explore and great views over the Douro Valley. Nothing to point. Excellent experience.
Room and facilities were superb and memorable. Views were breathtaking and worthy of many photos. Wines were first-rate and the tour of the facility was very interesting. Can even walk among the vines. Glad we stayed there! This is not about the hotel itself but the drive to it on a very harrowing and treacherous road. The road is a switchback and very narrow, only wide enough for one narrow car but is considered two-way. This makes the 15 km. drive to the hotel about an hour! The infrastructure needs to be improved, because the guests are absolutely exhausted (speaking for ourselves) by the time of arrival to the hotel.
Kindness Staff and see sight No cold minibar in my room
Helpful and knowledgeable staff and wonderful setting.
The environment The air conditiong was not functioning well!
Very poor breakfast (choise)
Very large and clean rooms, very nice restaurant and staff. Great food.
Cheap and fairly cheerful. The room had a fridge and a balcony. The pet chihuahua was very friendly. Parking was very easy. They are just up the road from the municipal pool, which was a pleasant and cheap way to cool off. No lift/elevator, so you might have to drag luggage up two flights. The bedding was somewhat sub-par (lumpy pillows, rough sheets). The hotel doesn't have a pool! It is just down the road, and is a public pool...
The owners are lovely. Limited English is spoken here and throughout the town but this just adds to the authenticity of the experience. Great little place!
Excellent dinner, quiet, large room which was very comfortable, and hardly anyone around. I woke up a 7 am to go for a walk, but couldn't leave until the receptionist arrived at eight.
Very pleasant riverside location in village consisting of little more than a railway junction station. Modern hotel, well-equipped. Restaurants within walking distance. Front door usually kept closed so summoning of proprietor required to gain entry, although his response to bell was impressive.
Good homely feel Surperb veiws
Friendly environment. Localization: landscape, close to railway station and river pier, ideal for our purposes. Food.
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Tua and Douro valley. Perfect for train travellers. Landscape around is beautiful. Restaurant nearby is excellent. The staff was friendly, we even got vegetarian breakfast. Should focus on enviromentally sound practises such as less frequent exchange of towels, etc.
staff did not speak English and the town of Tua was extremely isolated and hard to get to
Run by a lovely family. Perfect situation for train travellers. Excellkent pool and good restaurant next door. Frfeshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast - lovely
the location although remote was beautiful, right on the river with views of the vineyards. The owners went out of their way to make your have to drive all the windy roads once you arrived. I would really recommend this hotel. Nothing
Good location, friendly atmosphere
Kindnes of staf and willingnes to help The staf spoke only portuguise
Excellent breakfast with homemade stuff (fresh pressed orange juice), the hotel is led by friendly Portugese family, extremely quiet place, rooms with the view of Duero river
Fantastic!!! The views are to die for, the place is unique and utterly delightful and the warmth of the welcome we received from the wonderful Maria and family was quite out of this world. Not to be missed. Leaving
The hospitality of the family who run the Casa was wonderful. The food, both at breakfast and at the evening meal was superb. The building has been renovated but still retains a genuine antique feel to it. The rooms were lovely, very clean with en-suite facilities. The location may not suit everybody as the house is situated in a mountain top village and is in a fairly remote area of the Douro. You really need a car to access it and if you are not a confident driver, the road up the mountain can seem quite hairy. That said, you will have to go a long way to match the overall experience of a few days here, especially if you are a Port wine lover !!
The family atmosphere and the warm welcome from all the staff. The best place We've stayed in Portugal so far.
Fantastic experience in The Douro wine region. Will always remember the never ending supply of freshly baked cakes for breakfast. Also, really enjoyed sampling the owner's own Port and wine!
incredible hospitality. port on the house, long extensive dinner (and cheap), tasty luxurious breakfast
The family that runs Casa Cimeira couldn't have been any nicer and accommodating. They were one of the reasons our trip to the Douro region was so enjoyable. It felt more like staying with family then staying at a hotel.
extremely friendly staff, showing great hospitality and very nicely decorated rooms
This is one of the finest places we have ever stayed in. The hospitality was amazing. The family owners could not have been more friendly, helpful or obliging. Beautiful food and wine added to our enjoyment of a fantastic stay in stunning surroundings.
Maria, Arturi and Paolo were super friendly and accomodating. The food and wine were delicious. Good value for money. Beautiful setting amongst the vineyards with pool and view of the Douro River. Arturi picked me up and delivered me to the train station. Nice place to meet international travelers. Family style dining. Can visit port vineyards in the area. Having to leave.
the family was very welcoming because of the language problem we did not understand that we could also eat in the evening
