Location Lack of charm
The hotel looked lovely. Good location just what we wanted A lovely hotel but let down a bit by the staff. We asked for a couple of beers the didn't have a bottle opener at the Bar we asked for two glasses of wine they didn't have a bottle opener for that. The lad went to find one but came back after 15mins lifting his hands in the air saying cannot find one anywhere. The breakfast was very poor for a 4 star hotel. We thought at first that the hotel had just opened there was a man still putting beading silicone on the pool doors outside. But the staff seemed to have a lackey daisy attitude.
This brand new property left absolutely nothing to be desired, except for maybe a slightly better breakfast which was still decent by Italian standards. Great location in Tropea, 2 blocks away from the center of town. Beautiful pool, nice sized rooms with every amenity you could want. Free shuttle to the beach every 30 minutes. The only problem we had was that the wi-fi wasnt working properly, but the hotel is also only 2 months old so im sure they will have that taken care of soon.
Hotel Tropis is new modern hotel, new of the city center and railway station. Service they provided to me was very nice. I'd like to recommend this hotel
Everything was fantastic - room, placement, staff and breakfast. Highly recomend to those who love authentic surroundings. Free wi-fi internet that worked in room was a plus.
the room was nice, very good air con. lovely roof terrace, nice breakfast. very central. no hair dryer in the room and lots of steps
Excellent breakfast. Impossible to find; Hotel is actually three flights up with no elevator. Bed extremely uncomfortable.
We liked everything: atmosphere, design, location, lunch, non intrusive, but very friendly staff, buildng itself If you do not want to wake up earlier the church bell could be annoying (we feel though that it just adds to experience, but not all people would agree)
The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the center of the old town in Tropea and close to shops, restaurants and bars. A huge breakfast is served on a lovely rooftop terrace with views over the town to the sea. The hotel is in a fabulous old building and the rooms are beautifully furnished. The only drawback for some people might be that the hotel is on the third floor and there is no lift
The villa is a great choice for everyone who want quiet accomodation in recently rennovated historical building. We enjoyed breakfast in the garden and comfortable and stylish room. The location is perfect both for people with car and without. Hotel has it's own parking always with free spaces. 1 minute to get to the center by foot and 10 minutes to get to the beach. I and my wife were really pleased by kindness of manager named Manuela. All staff is very professional and friendly. We wish to come back to this lovely place
friendly staff, super-breakfast
The beautiful room Breakfast food, particularly the bread. Menu more suited to german clients.
central location - good breakfast - excellent 'mini-bar' - a full sized fridge full of local wines! noisy. they were extending the building during our stay and workers started at 0630 each morning. the central location meant that motor scooters could be heard until 0100 every night - we got little sleep - and it was exceptionally hot during our stay.
The room was beautiful, from the fresco on the ceiling to the power shower in the bathroom. It was so central, right on the main street in Tropea and so accessible. No, everything was great.
The breakfast - it was out of this world!!! I have never been offered so much and such variety.
Charm, garden, friendliness of staff. Location to historic center of Tropea. The absolute willingness of the staff to be of service was way above and beyond anything that anyone could ever expect. The breakfast was a not to be missed experience! I truly loved it here and I will go out of my way to return. Calabrian hospitality at its best. Thank you to the staff for making this such a memorable experience.
We arrived a day early and stayed 2 nights. Wished it could have been 3. The staff was great. Served us a welcome glass of vino and snacks in the room. The breakfast was superb. Wifi and satellite TV en suite. The room was really fun, and very Italian with Michaelangeo murals. The locaton was right atn the edge of the old city center. Five minute walk from shopping, sea views, restaurants.
You could walk everywhere form the centrally located Villa Antica Tropea, which made it easy and delightful to roam and discover the town and beaches of Tropea. What a special place! Like other hotel operators we have encountered from bookings.com, Giancarlo had connections and recommendations for everything we needed, or wanted to do. From greeting us with a smile when we arrived hours late due to traffic delays, helping with bags and serving a large breakfast for European standards, to restaurant recommendations where we had a truly wonderful cheap meal, which was not always the case during our 6 weeks of travel. We picked this hotel because of the reviews we read of it on Bookings.com and we were not disappointed, we had an adequate picture of it and we will go back again No
Villa Antica Tropea is perfectly located in the centre of Tropea. We had a beautiful room, with a wonderful painted ceiling and fantastic power shower in the bathroom. A wonderful breakfast was served every morning on the roof terrace. What made our stay so enjoyable though was the kindness and hospitality of our hosts Valentina and Giancarlo. We can't wait to return.
Carlos and Valentina and the staff were fantastic hosts, the breakfast here was the best we encountered. They were always giving us local produce to sample. They had the best almond biscuits ever. Having breakfast on the roof terrace was a treat looking out over the roof tops in the wonderful sunshine.
Wonderful bird life in garden. Very pleasant staff. Nice modern bathroom. Nice terrace and furniture. View of Stromboli and islands from the terrace. Enough electric sockets for laptop, mobile and camera batteries. Rooms facing the road and railway are noisy. There was no heating when we arrived - but this was fixed and the room was fine the second day onwards. The internet connection was pretty disastrous but rain and landslides had caused Telecom communications to break down - hardly the fault of the hotel who did their best.
near tropea easy to find good location friendly staff
Breakfast could have been a little more in its offering and quality.
the staff is great, really helpful and friendly. Easy access to the hotel and then to move by car to Tropéa or any other close cities. Decoration (hotel or berooms), atmosphere (terrace or siwmming pool), everything is done to make you feel special. It's one of the best hotel i've stayed in my life!
The pool, breakfast and standard of decor were all high and good value for money. Staff were also good, and put themselves out to let us check in early. We chose the hotel mainly as an affordable place to stay in Tropea, and were pleased with the price on that basis, but it was such an attractive place in itself that we ended up spending more time relaxing at the hotel than we'd imagined. The location is good for central Tropea.
Fantastic quiet hotel with very friendly and helpful staff
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the pool was nice. The breakfast could have had more fruit and pure orange juice.
position, price, comfort and room were all excellent lack of staff on hand whne neededbreakfast was poor quality
The hotel was friendly and the location was good Breakfast was poor and flies were on the food which was uncovered. Hot food was cold.
The service was excellent. The rooms were modern and the view from the balcony was amazing. This was the best resort I stayed at on my tour of Italy. The breakfast is excellent and since it is served on the roof, the view while eating is amazing.
We had an excellent stay. The hotel is in a beautiful location, the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing.
My husband and I thought this was the most wonderful place we have ever stayed, although not as expensive and large as some places we've been. It is a small imtimate hotel with a charming ambiance that excedes more elaborate places. The rooms are extremely clean and well appointed, the terrace is large and beautiful with a gorgeous veiw of the ocean. The owner does not speak English but manages to communicate, and a couple of members of the staff do speak enough English to help guest get by. Breakfast was beautifully presented and very good. The town is extremely charming and welcoming. We did not find things to be nearly as expensive as other towns in Italy. The beach is a bit rocky but the water is some of the most beautiful we've seen. Coming from the south of Italy it was a long drive off of the main roads, but we left going north and the drive was much shorter.
This hotel is excellent. Very new, I believe they opened in April. Rooms are just perfect, so is the beach. The girl at the reception spoke perfect English, the best in Southern Italy. Overall a fantastic experience.
Great hotel. very comfortable rooms, good breakfast with fruits and cakes, cleaning twice a day. we liked everything about hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff always smile and say ciao!))
A beautiful place to stay. Great staff, rooms, location, stunning views, great beach. No restaurant but the one recommended by the hotel was lovely, our favorite of all the ones we ate at. Only the receptionist speaks English (few people in Tropea do) but we managed with the basic greetings and thank yous etc (and plenty of smiles!). We would highly recommend Hotel Rocca Della Sena, definitely our favorite hotel either of us have ever stayed in! Perfect. Only that we had to leave...
Great value in low season, though restaurant only open for breakfast. Nice patio with sea view. Well located only 5 minute walk to centro storico. Beautiful restaurant which we're sure is excellent in summer. A seaside (not beach) resort, about 100 meters from beach. Well appointed rooms.
people were nice/helpful, wondrous view from the dining room. we had a problem with hot water, two cold showers first day but they offered to move us and they did fix it without rancour.
The view was lovely from the balcony This hotel is a short walk (1 km) from the town centre
Appartment type rooms Uncomfortable bed
two of the staff Sally & Guiseppe spoke English, unusual in Calabria long walk into town, hotel bus only available in season, this was not stated in the advert
There is an amzing view if you get the right room
The room was poorly maintained. The shower unit was broken, no glass for toothbrushes etc. The main problem was that the room was very noisy due to its location right next to the main road which was not clear from the details on your website. It was also situated on the side of a hill at multiple levels making it very difficult for one of our party to get to a room without climbing many stairs.
