The food and drinks were not over priced The rooms are a little dated
Wonderful location. Beach, pools, wildlife, easy access to city, great spa. Fantastic selection of dining options. Staff very friendly and attentive. Upgraded to Ocean Wing, pricey but affordable between the three of us and so worth it...lovely.
The location was fantastic - to be on a beach yet surrounded by forest was amazing. The orangutans were the abolsute highlight for me though!! We went to Sepilok however the nature reserve at the hotel allowed us to be closer to them and it felt less of a tourist trap and much more intimate. The staff were also absolutely lovely and seemed to have really pride in the resort and making sure we had a great time. We had one night at the Garden Wing and then upgraded. The Garden Wing felt a little tired in places. The rooms were lovely but around the coffee terrace restaurant it didn't seem quite so clean and cared for as other parts of the resort. I also think it would have been good to have an area with no children as even when we upgraded the pool area was a little noisey at times with children....I had in mind that this resort would be more for couples but it was actually very family-orientated. The Ocean Wing was fabulous though and did certainly give us more of a couple-holiday feel.
We loved the view of the sea and gardens from our balcony. The Indian restaurant was our favourite. As a business couple, we had a great relaxing long weekend and got away from it all. Anna & Val No complaints, all good!
awesome service and breakfast and the Ocean Wing
Beautiful atmosphere, gorgeous beaches, many food options (indian, japanese, international). A great family holiday.
Staff, everyone at the resort, from cleaners to management were brilliant. The nature reserve. We loved the whole resort and will definatly be going back some time in the future. Sandflies. In Borneo for 3 weeks and this is the only place we were eaten alive.
The room was big, bright and luxurious. Food was amazing and great choice across 4 restaurants.
Viewing the orang utang feeding was amazing. Excellent food at all restauarnts we tried. Beach and pool areas were very nice. All staff were very friendly but sometimes it took far too long to get their attentio. For exampletrying to order a drink by the pool. The service was poor at the Asian Buffet in the evening . This was frustrating.
Absolutely brilliant experience! We stayed at the Ocean Wing where 1- The room was big 2- Had a sun bed 3- with outdoor bathtub 4-spectacular view of the pool and beach. The service was exceptional in everything they did from greeting us when we arrived to their farewell when we left. Their breakfast and dinner buffet was large and full of variety. The activities were too many we had no reason to leave the hotel at all. Tips: 1- If you enjoy nature, visit their nature resource center where you can go on a short trek into the nearby jungle, or send your kids to their Ranger experience 2- You can see monkeys and other varieties of wildlife in their reserve 3- DO NOT miss the sunset there, it is one of the most beautiful I have seen in a while 4- They have a cool water slide that kids and adults alike can enjoy - this is in the Garden Wing - walking distance from the Ocean Wing. 5- You can use Uber if you want to pop into the city to visit the local markets, won't cost you more than 40RM but the distance is about 30 minutes from there (1 hour to the airport). https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g2006071-d306368-r476821201-Shangri_La_s_Rasa_Ria_Resort_Spa-Tuaran_Sabah.html# nothing at all. it was perfect
The room view of the sea and beach No enough in house facilities - need to make 24 hours advance booking for sapi island tour. No game room for board games, no library - Resort is more for caucasian. Seems to have discrimation of service towards Asian and caucasian. Most reasturant open only in the evening!
