everything was brilliant especially the breakfast there was so much choice.service throughout hotel was great and rooms and hotel very clean.it is a very grand hotel hence the name.plus great location opposite the beachfront with 5 minute walk to the pier.
The service was excellant, especially when trying to resolve issues. The location was great. The room was far too hot and to cool it down had to use air con unit which was located behind the curtains, absolutely no use when sleeping. The Tv was fauty and had interference. the shower curtain needed replacing as it was not adequate with the power of th shower and splurged water all over the floor, making it slippery and dangerous. There was a function on the saturday evening which we could hear the music to 3 floors up, although the staff offered us another room at 1 in the morning, the bed was tiny; so not suitable at all. Late check out was denied enough though we were too tired to face the long drive home and no discount as an apology for inconvienences. Very disappointing for a hotel of this standard so thus would not recommend.
The only problem was a bathroom sink that didn't drain and a long line for the reservation desk. Other than these issues it was lovely.
location & service Price especially parking costs
It was right next door to Paul Weller concert Small bedroom
the helpfulness of all the staff was absoultely brilliant the price of room service and the mini bar was extortionate
Feedback is just ok As i said before, it was a bit tatty
Very very good staff, attentive and very helpful Charged for using a credit card to pay my bill so I will never use or allow my staff to use a De Vere Hotel ever again, bed uncomfortable
facilities, getting a sea view as a free upgrade, staff friendly.
The surroundings and the standard of the suite made the stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Nothing
Comfort, space and views
The swimming pool/spa is well kept and clean, the views from the rooms over the golf course are fantastic, the breakfast was good quality and with a good choice of hot and cold food. You pay for what you get though, worth the room rate it if you want a quality experience.
it was our 25th anniversary and we enjoyed the whole experience, we have recommended the hotel to all our friends and family.
Friendly staff & amazing swimming pool
I didn't stay at this hotel myself but booked it for my parents. They were over the moon with the hotel, so much so that we are thinking of booking the hotel for the whole family for my dads 50th in November.
Cleanliness My request for a quiet room was accomodated (away from potentially noisier guests) Lovely soft, large towels and good quality bedlinen Good quality bathroom products and hairdrier Space, light and tasteful decor in bedroom and elsewhere Comfort and size of bed - very good supportive mattress Good security (swipe card to access corridor to bedroom) Very efficient room service Bottled water and nbeverage making facilities in bedroom Pleasant friendly staff None really, although no soya milk available - a lot of folk request this these days.
Nice and clean hotel in a beautiful countryside setting. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There was also a problem with a change of date with my initial booking whereby I got charged for a night which was cancelled, but both the the hotel and booking.com sorted it out quickly. Food at the restaurant was good, though I was disappointed that the children's menu did not match the adults', i.e. mash potato was made from powder and sausages were not as good quality as you would have expected.
It is one of the nicest and friendliest hotels that we have stayed in. Although it was not particularly cheap, we thought that it gave great value for money. The roo was super and it is so nice to have the extra items such as tea and biscuits, iron, trouser press etc.
The comfort of the room and the stunning views from my window The bar was very bland
Excellent the food especailly
All staff were obliging and friendly Having been given a time for dinner which we attended on time, it was over an hour later than that, before we were offered a menu!!!
the hotel was beautiful in a beautiful setting, great rooms. Our breakfasts service was diabolical , there was no food left, staff were rude, and even when we complained they took 45 mins to bring our breakfast and there was nothing left on the buffet . We complained further and so we didnt have to pay, but we would have preferred to pay and have a decent breakfast .
rooms were excellent staff very helpful gym was far to small and needs air conditioning
The quality & friendlness of the staff; also the food & wine were at times unbeatable.
The waiter who served tea and generally looked after us, Rob was a credit to the hotel. He was clearly passionate about what he did and it was reflected in the service we received from him. The quality of food served at the hotel was very good and the cooked breakfast was impressive. The decor of the hotel was very disappointing. It was neither country house or modern chic. The reception rooms with their fabulous architecture were reduced to looking like something suited to a retirement home with over a dozen stained identical winged chairs. The bedroom was pretty boring, and didn't live up to expectation. The photo of the bedroom on the bookings.com website which was listed as an executive room, and which we booked on that basis, was in fact one of the suites, so we were disappointed when we saw the room we were actually staying in.
Friendly staff and nice comfortable room.
Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings Tables too close together in the restaurant
food was excellent, staff were polite and very helpfull room 16 i found cramped
Reception staff were friendly and efficient Bedroom was v small. Bar was soul-less and rather institutional - a missed opportunity in such a potentially magnificent room. It was also too noisy from a next-door wedding reception. Hotel guests should be able to escape this sort of event if they wish but all the remaining public rooms were about as inspiring as an airport lounge - another missed opportunity. Someone should have a good look at the furniture (too much of it) and fittings and try to make all the public rooms more intimate and welcoming.
Staff very friendly. Quiet night. Location great. Smart decor.
The location was excellent, on one side the sea front on the other the town. Could walk anywhere easily. The reception staff also very efficient. The bed was very hard. The inner courtyard meant that we were overlooked by other windows and the people sitting below eating and drinking. It was also a very hot room but if you had the window open it was only to the inner courtyard where music was played. This meant that it was overpriced for what you got.
Arrived at 6.30am after flight from Australia and was able to check into my room. Also got an upgrade at no cost. Internat should be free - however, very few hotels offer this.
Access to town. Breakfast, though expensive, was fantastic. Dirty cutlery at breakfast. I had to get up four times to get myself cutlery - which I stole from other tables.... I had to ask for toast.
The service and staff were excellent. The room was of a very high standard and the location was perfect. The breakfast that we had from room service was very good but could have done with being a bit warmer.
friendly efficient staff, cleanliness, comfy bed no tea/coffee in our room, no window to outside, enquired about plug adapter i left in room, no reply.
Sea view Slow check in
location and facilities room service was rubbish, ordered toilet rolls, paper & ice and glasses that never turned up
Amenities and location Checking in was at 14:00 hours, upon arriving half an hour early, no check was permitted to see if room was ready earlier, so guests had to wait and then queue to 14:00 hours. Other hotels do check room availability and if available let you check in earlier to avoid a queue.
The restuarant waiter at dinner was very good - but as there were only 3 dining this probably was why. Room much too hot (was promised cooler in room but it didn't appear), access to car park dirty and smelly, car parking expensive, I was annoyed that a gratuity was added to bill for (the expensive) dinner, breakfast was expensive, and the room was not made up until 3.00pm. It also a pity that some staff have difficulty understanding english. It was rude to have to sign the slip for breakfast before being shown to a table - the implication that you might not pay. Corridors were in need of redecoration. The lounge area was not very good.
The food was excellent
The Spa situated in the Hotel Our room was located opposite a pub. The noise was so loud it was a bit difficult to sleep.
location great. Beds very comfortable . Room nice and warm during a very cold spell I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. The bathrooms especially, some bleach and a toothbrush would be a good idea especially round the taps and to take the black from around the tiles. Attention should be paid to the housekeeping of this hotel. The spa again was not clean, thought we would spend a few hours there but changed our minds when we went in. Again the cleanliness here was poor.
The hotel was very nice and it was nice to be upgraded from a twin room to a family one at no extra charge. Very convenient for the Brighton Centre and shopping which is the reason we came.
To much noise heating poor
the room was lovely. desk staff helpful. breakfast was chaos- not enough cutlery (people trying to eat bacon & eggs with spoons!), queing to sit at tables, food running out and not being replaced despite requests ( twenty minute wait for croissants!). duty manager hopeless. healthclub dirty and very run down.
sea view we had no parking facilities so had to struggle a little bit .
location, friendliness of staff
The location is great easy access to the beach, pier and town and the lanes.
The leisure facilities. The reception staff very poor and inpolite.
The room was lovely There was no vegetarian option on the menu and the service was poor. We recived differnet information to other guests. We were disturbed frequently durng the night by very loud guests and by staff
Our stay was on a B&B basis. We needed to check in before the alloted 2pm check-in time. The staff could not have been more helpful. We arrived at 1pm and our room was ready and spotless. It was comfortable and clean. TV,Tea,Coffee and bottled water were all provided free of charge. The staff were extremely friendly welcoming and helpful, often asking if we were enjoying our stay, and making good local conversation. The breakfast we had was good although it was left to us to ask for what we wanted included. The full choice of available content was not made clear to us whilst it was to others who came after us. We think it was just a mistake. The price of our room was very competitive. Whilst only there for one night there was nothing we didn't enjoy about our stay at The Chequers.
Our room was very nice I felt the staff were all very young and inexperienced, a little ineffective
Comfotable room and friendly, helpful staff Room was rather too warm during the night and the floorboards were very squeaky. It would have been helpful to us if breakfast had been served earlier than 8am on Saturdays as we had to leave for Gatwick without breakfast.
Staff were friendly and service good if a bit fragmented. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast very good - but seeing Marco's caricature every where, I expected it to be. Room was a bit 'shabby', grouting in bathroom black and iron burns on carpet. I think we were probably in one of the older rooms not featured on the website.
unpretentious with very attentive staff
The hotel was cosy and comfortable with a pleasant ambiance. The garden was well maintained.
Only a one night stay, but ticked every box for my brief stay, rooms comfortable and clean and Sunday morning breakfast good.
Very comfortable hotel and garden beautiful. One lady inparticular (blonde hair) serving us who was excellent. Room was too hot - I didn't sleep well at all because of this. We asked for one of the dishes to be served with mashed potato instead of pureed swede to be told quite abruptly by the young girl working after she spoke to the chef 'you have to stick to the menu'. There was mash on a number of other dishes so don't see why that was an issue...
Nice staff, lovely location, good food. Erratic service,no food available Sunday evening.
Parking was easy and very good value for Brighton. Breakfast was excellent. Room was very comfortable. Although a twin room was booked this was not available, fortunately this was not imperative but may have been!!. The bar staff's command of english could have been better.
Breakfast, swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi Could only access bed from one side, as pushed against wall , and only one pillow each - second morning not able to have our breakfast in the Windsor restaurant, the other restaurant no windows and no sea views -
The accommodation was clean, the reception area was impressive and the breakfast was good value. The room was very small and the bathroom was extremely tiny. The bathroom had a broken shelve in it (which hadn't been repaired!) and the shower (which looked powerful) was actually a trickle.
Loctaion Old (!) rooms Unfriendly staff Broken windsor fixed with tin foil Staff mostly trainees who don't have a clue
Breakfast lots of choice good service
fine spacious hotel tghere was was leakimg water in the abthroom
The room and the bathroom were spacious and well decorated. The bar and resturant were very good and the breakfast was excellent. The squeeky bed and lots of the furniture in our room and the bar were a bit saggy and could do with an update.
My wife and I booked your hotel to celebrate my 60th birthday and our 39th wedding anniversary, we were most impressed with all aspects of the hotel. The staff were all helpful, courteous and friendly. The food was really excellent with a wide variety of choice. Although the view from our room overlooked the roof area this did not bother us, the comfort and cleanleness more than compensated us. having to leave
the best in many things comfort and value for the money
staff and location Room decoration is poor and in need of much updating all over, especially in the bathrooms.General cleanliness is lacking
The room that we were given was the worst I have ever stayed in. The room was very damp with a large damp area outside the bathroom that was covered with a mat. Staff were very unhelpful regarding this fact.
Furniture in room old and battered, whole hotel seemed to have a faded glory feel, no mushrooms at breakfast.
Location is excellent, price I got was very cheap, Breakfast was good, but boring!! Hotel is very tired looking, sooms are not quiet as there is no double glazing, room furnishings are old and carpets and furnishings worn out.
The helpfulness of the hotel staff
total party hotel- drunken slobs everywhere and very loud. Request a non-smoking room when booking if you value lung function. Bring earplugs if you are staying.
Rooms are below a night club and are very loud at night, breakfast was great but took 40 mins queing to get it.
Going to the seaside because it was very near! The breakfast was good. There was no parking facilitlies and the nearest parking was 20minutes away.
Location is great. I am sure this was once a great hotel. Mold everywhere, peeling paint and wallpaper... Lack of maintenance and neglect destroyed what was once a great hotel. With some investments, this could be a great place. But right now an average Motel 6 is cleaner than this place.
position next to the seefront. Old fashioned Hotel. Excellent Brekfast. Price 26 Pound per night! Run down Hotel. in process of refurbishment. Had a room in the cellar!! No sun light! at all. Wallpaper coming down, Cold with no proper heating
the sea view! Fab!!
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and quiet. Good location on seafront. Nice little bar. Good value for money. Booked a double room for myself and then my son and his friend found the hostel unacceptable so booked a single for his friend and my son shared with me. Staff very helpful.
the above mentioned made my stay a relaxing one and a memorable one. will definitely come back again.
conveinient location price
All requests were handled very professionally. By day 2 of a 5 day stay I was treated with a smile and greeting on every occasion. N/A
The welcome was very friendly and a good location. The single rooms are very small with small windows and no view. The rooms desperately need refurbishing and updating but they were clean.
the staff were friendly i got a good room with sea views the room was clean bit basic but perfect for the night. the breakfast was good but cold
The staff were very friendly. The bar and lobby areas were nice and modern and the breakfast was great. Good location for the beach but a bit of a walk to the shops. The room was quite basic for the money and didn't resemble any of the photos featured on the site. The shower had poor water pressure and took ages to heat up - maybe something to do with being on the 5th floor. The heating was on way too high and the room felt like a sauna.
Location was great perfect sea view
Hotel is located at the sea front. Room was very small and hotel needs some renovation.
Near the sea and main facilities Nothing
Location, good b'fast Lack of parking
Loved the decor. Great location. Will definitely stay at My in Brighton again. Had to change room as several of the lights did not work in the first one. Staff vey friendly and co-operative re the room change
Food amazing, staff great, room fantastic. Excellent atmostphere - a long the lines of Hotel Babylon! highly recommended No plug for hairdryer by mirror which was the only thing i could find wrong!
friendly staff, great cocktail bar, very contemporary rooms although pink is not my colour (better half chose this!!) was excellent and the Location was perfect for christmas shopping and restaurants. The room service food selection was very poor, we really wanted a pizza, sandwich etc but could only get a cheese and bread board.
We loved the style and freshness of the bedrooms and the bathrooms were the best that we have encountered. Our room had huge bay window with a view over the busy street which was great for "people watching". Myhotel is located in town, approx 5 minutes from The Lanes, 10 minutes from the sea and surrounded by bars, pubs and restaurants. The hotel also has a couple of bars that are just perfect for the start and end of the evening. Just a bright new place to stay in Brighton away from the sea front hotels that are rather tired and staid in comparison. The one disappointment was the breakfast. It's not a bad breakfast; it just suffers in comparison with many of the offerings, locally. Also, we witnessed regular confusion with the restaurant staff about whether, or not, breakfast was included in the rate. The solution is to avoid the breakfast and go to "Bills" around the corner or one of the many other breakfast places within in few steps of the front door.
The position in Brighton, we stay quite often as my son lives in Brighton and it is the first time I noticed your hotel. I found the hotel room unwelcoming and the bathroom was so small you couldn't turn arround in it. My daughter and I had trouble trying to get ready at the same time. The colours were a bit "in your face" I know I am older than perhaps most of your guests, but even my son and daughter thought it was not very restful. We also had to move rooms as the television did not work. The rooms were over the bottle bins and they were being filled most of the evening and emptied at about 6am on Monday morning which I realise someone has to stay in those rooms but if everything else had been OK it wouldn't have been a problem. It was a nice hotel but for me a little bit too modern. Also the reception desk was far too small to do anything on.
Lovely modern, funky style rooms, very friendly. Very difficult to find!
Excellent service, handy location Both bedside lamps did not work, cannot open window (catch broken), very stuffy at night (no fresh air)
Design, quietness, easy check in and out, great location Bed very small for two people. Chipped basin, shower had to be held to point in right direction
Refreshingly unusual hotel, helpful staff with a "can do" approach, quirky room/bathroom, delicious buffet breakfast. Inadequate storage space for clothes; they have to be hung over the only mirror and there are virtually no shelves; and drying hair is challenging without a socket with a nearby mirror! Also the semi- transparent loo door might be a problem for some guests. A case of style over function perhaps?
Funky design, genuinely friendly check in, largish room, super shower, comfortable bed, nicely designed reception area, excellent location. The see through door to the loo and no mirror over the sink even though there were mirrors either side of the sink, it just felt strange.
the quietest hotel we've ever stayed in.amazing! our "cosy" room was super, but the "wet room was too narrow.a size 16 or larger or anyone with "shoulders"would find early morning ablutions taxing!!t
The care of the staff in ensuring that our stay was comfortable. Nothing.
The hotel was very clean, with excellent breakfasts. The room was a little small, but well appointed. Staff were very helpful, and advised on places to go, parking, etc.
Clean, location,Friendly, good breakfast. Room smaller than expected,Do not like wet rooms as a bathroom.
Great location close to the train station. Clean and functional with good service.
I liked everything about the hotel. Staff, the bar, the rooms, etc. I had a family style room, it had two small twin beds that kept separating.
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the spanish lady working in the bar during the day on 14th and a cleaner (man) who helped us when our card key wouldn't work.
It was quiet, comfortable and clean with a nice size double room, the ensuite was modern stylish and clean, the hotel was central to the town and had pleasant sitting areas and breakfast room. The self service cooked breakfast was good, a continental style breakfast was also available. A minor point: The last guest's towel was still hanging on the back of the en-suite bathroom door.
close to everything in brighton, excellent room over looking the beach
location, helpful porter decor, breakfast, view over side street and too noisy early am
Position geographically, close to beach and shops. Meeting point for every stag and hen night in front of hotel, because the rooms where so warm you had to have the windows open and the last talking stopped at 5.30 am and the traffic took over at 7.00am
On arrival we were allocated a room. On openeing the room there was already another guests luggage in there. We were then given another room which the pass card did not open. A third room was then allocated which we were able to access. My concern in this matter is that the first room had already been allocated and we were able to access it. Not the most secure system, which left us feeling very unsure about leaving anything in our room.
A small housekeeping item was pointed out 3 times but not actioned (faulty kettle)
Position of hotel always been good I feel hotel both inside and outside needs a lick of paint starting to look drab especially outside. Decoration is really quite poor compard to when I used to stay.
Nice big room, plenty space to include the baby buggy. Excellent location right on seafront, very close to the Pier. Right on Town Centre for shopping. Expensive parking on site. Room right outside next door Fish & Chip shop, open until 4am which was noisy for baby, room was on left side of building, a room on other side may have been quieter.
The staff were very friendly and the location was excellent. We felt very rushed when we ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, we had to ask the waiting staff a couple of times to give us more time to decide what we wanted to eat. Also the fruit left in our room looked very old.
Decent sized bedroom and excellent bathroom N/A
Wonderful hotel great food and service.
Staff were very good and attentive Overall, hotel was fine but felt a bit "dated"
Fantastic room - huge and luxurious.
it was quiet and convenient car parking
The long time at the check out in the morning. A four star hotel should have teo reception staff at this busy period. Also it is a long way to the bottom car park with your luggage.
The warmth and friendliness Not really
Quiet with plenty of staff on hand, most of whom made you welcome. Bar closed at odd times, like 2/30 on Friday afternoon, just as I arrived and wanted to relax with the paper and a glass of wine.
Comfortable. Friendly The Restaurant could be better both for Breakfast and Dinner. The Orangery/Bar/Lounge menu and food were better and better value
Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable and the staff on the reception desk were extremely efficient. I wish we had stayed longer!!
Lovely hotel in a lovely part of the country! Would definitely like to go back when it was a race day, if you had a room on the race course side you would get such a great view of all the goings on!
New hotel, very friendly personnel. Very comfortable room with fine and large bed. A bit difficult to find in the dark. There should be more light at the entrance along the road.
Very comfortable bed. Better than anywhere I've stayed. The entrance was almost invisible. Could do with some light at the entrance, if only for road safety purposes. Didn't like being under the Gatwick flight path, but it proved not to be noisy.
Very good facility, had a pleasant stay.
Everything was clean and brand new as it was opening night. Very friendly welcoming irish chap working on reception made good impression upon arrival. The staff did not seem to have had much training prior to opening particularly in the bar so did not know how to prepare drinks ie. I was served a cold hot chocolate! A member of staff was rebuked by a manageress (I think) in a very unpleasant tone in front of customers, I personally do not like staff being treated that way, take it to the office please!
Convenience for the railway station. Friendly staff.
Hotel staff were excellent, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value for money.
all of the above (2) the smell
Very pleasant and helpful staff. The reception area and dining area were very cold. I also felt that the music in those areas was a bit loud and dominating. The double bed was smaller than anticipated.
friendlyness of staff.location.cleanliness n/a
Hotel staff is good!!! the family room is too small.
Very handy for railway station city centre only one small thing ,I felt the sausages at breakfast were not fully cooked
modern and clean noisy at night with lots of hen/stage parties
the comfortable clean modern and quiet rooms No
