Pros. Hotel Ca' d'Oro is in a great central location, was very clean, and had everything it advertised. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the view of the canal from my room was a nice bonus.
Pros. The roof top terrace was nice. As for most places in Venice, we learned that compactness is a norm versus what we would expect in America. We really liked to be further away from the crowds, noise and touristy locations and this fit the bill but all that touristy stuff was within a few minutes walk, so we didn't miss out on it when we wanted to.
Cons. Staff could have been more helpful in showing us how to keep the electricity on in the room -- totally weird concept. They were polite and helpful, but not warm and friendly. In fact I wouldn't use the word hospitable to describe most people in Venice.
