The mouse in our room
It’s a nice hotel in an old building which makes it more special.
This hotel was simple, to the point, excellent location, and clean.
This hotel doesn't offer anything extra, or fancy, or over the top.
Location was good. Bed was comfortable. Everything was clean. View of harbour was so-so. The real wood fireplace was set-up and ready to light in such a way that even if you weren't familiar with wood fires, you would probably have a nice fire.
The hotel boasts "old-world charm and understated elegance". In my opinion, it was just dated décor. As soon as we opened the room door, we were hit with a strong odour of stale cigarette smoke which we assumed had steeped into the carpet and walls years ago. The bathroom set-up was poor. The glass sliding doors were adjacent to the bed and inside there was a separate toilet room. Unfortunately, the toilet did not have a separate light, so when I got up in the middle of the night, the light from the bathroom illuminated the whole room. The hotel advertised a jacuzzi tub but I would call it a regular sized tub with jets. Maybe my expectations were off, but I was envisioning a hot-tub for two. There was no extractor fan for the humidity from the tub. Behind the door to the room, there was a countertop with a sink and a coffee maker and kettle. There was a mini-fridge under the counter. The coffee maker was plugged in behind the fridge so that you could not access it but there was no outlet for the kettle. When I plugged the kettle into the outlet by the fireplace, I blew the breaker for the room. The windows were very thin and construction noise started at 5:30am each morning and at night the partying noises went on until around midnight. Parking was extra charge and a few blocks away.
