Pros: The amenities. There were pastries, coffee, yogurts and fruit available at all times.

Cons: While calling ahead about out time of arrival and arriving punctually , we had to wait for 15 minutes for the owner to arrive. Had I not had the ability to call the owner again, I am not sure how long we would have had to wait.

Pros: After making our way up from the Algarve ready to catch our ferry back to the UK from Santander, we spent our last night in Spain at Posada la Fabula, and what an experience it was! We were greeted by Maria who showed us to our beautiful room with en suite shower room. The entire Posada was spotlessly clean with all we needed to make our stay comfortable. Maria told us we could help ourselves to hot drinks (from a machine serving delicious coffee, hot chocolate etc) anytime of day or night and also we could enjoy snacks, free of charge, if peckish, along with lovely cakes, pastries and fruit. The Posada is kept immaculate throughout with beautiful gardens and plants, you just know on arrival that you’ve chosen a winner. We had a great nights sleep then a delicious continental breakfast. Because our ferry wasn’t due to sail until much later in the day, after telling Maria we had time to kill, she suggested we use the facilities at their sister Posada just up the road. So we spent three very happy hours by the pool in glorious sunshine where we were served coffee, once again free of charge. We could not have asked for a better accommodation with superb hospitality and we warmly recommend Maria and the Posada la Fabula to travellers in northern Spain.

Pros: What a fantastic find of a hotel. We didn't know what to expect when we arrived but it exceeded our expectations!! The hotel is so close to the national park if you go for a walk you can see the elephants. The hotel was so clean and was cleaned to a high standard everyday! We were probably the only English people there but the staff were so friendly and helped as much as they could with the slight difficultly of us not been any good at Spanish!! Stunning location, stunning hotel and friendly staff and people! The breakfast fills you up for the whole day.

Really sporty location...surfing, sailing, fishing, swimming, walking etc. going on. Spotlessly clean accommodation. Very safe & quiet. Staff super helpful. Fridge to leave food in. Huge drawer to store your stuff in I'm your room that you can padlock if you wish. I'd definitely highly recommend this place!

Pros: It was a comfortable hostel near the centre. The receptionist was really nice and everything was really clean.

Pros: I got to the hostel at around midnight, way after the check in time. Although it was super late and I did not notify them of my late arrival, the lady in charge came to check me in and was extremely pleasant in her communication.

Pros: We travel all over Spain and what we value is cleanliness and a peaceful nights sleep after the hectic days rushing around trying to see everything. This hotel meets those requirements. We have paid £100 a night in numerous hotels elsewhere and regretted it. This is more expensive at £150 a night but its so worth it. Quality costs money. We don't usually have breakfast in hotels. A tostada and coffee is all that we want. One of the things that we love about this hotel is that it has a very cheap cafe where you can have as much or as little as you want for breakfast. We spend a long time waiting for lifts in a lot of hotels and end up walking - not here. The hotel has 10 floors but the lift service is great.

Pros: The location of this hotel across from a long, beautiful beach is perfect. There is a walkway along the water that stretches for kilometers. There are buses every five minutes that go from a stop by the hotel into the center of the city in 10 minutes or less. The rooms were not big, but very comfortable and the bathrooms are immaculate. A big surprise for us was the restaurant. We arrived Sunday night after a long day of travel and decided to eat at the hotel. The food was excellent, although there were few people in the restaurant. The 25 euro menu included three full courses of your choice, mineral water and wine — a full bottle for the two of us. In fact, it was a bit too much food for us, but ala carte options were also available. We’d stay at this hotel again if we were in Santander.

Cons: I’m not a fan of the long pillows they have in Spain. Would prefer two smaller ones.

Pros: The hotel is very classy and elegant, with nice amenities and views over the city and harbor. The clientele is snubby and mostly over 60. The service is very good, at par with the facilities.

Cons: Most of the clientele is obnoxious, smoking, loud and pretentious. The management doesn't seem to be interested in controlling unruly behavior, such as parked private cars right in front of the main entrance of the hotel, or smoking right at the entrance of the restaurant.

Pros: Rooms were very large and nice. We also had a balcony that looked out onto the sea. The hotel itself was beautiful - looked like it was a grand hotel from the 1920s. It was also located in a very nice area and parking was free.

Cons: I was surprised that there were not better amenities for guests. There is a spa with a pool, but it was an extra fee and required making a reservation. I would have thought that due to the 5-star rating, there would be some extra perks. Also, the downstairs restaurant was very expensive - €5 for a small bottle of Coca Cola.

Pros: This is an excellent hotel. The quality of the whole place is very classy. On arrival we were given a very warm welcome. The room was large, spotlessly clean, bright and very comfortable. There is a hot drinks maker in the lounge area just outside of the room. The continental breakfast was top class with a great selection of cold meats, cheese, breads, pastries, fruit, juices and hot drinks. This is a cracking little hotel just a very short walk from some nice eating places and the beach.

Cons: There was absolutely nothing that we didn't like about this hotel!

Pros: The Continental Breakfast was extremely good -- both quality and range of what was on offer. Nice coffee. There is also coffee available all day in the lounge/breakfast room. The facilities in the bedroom were very modern with a very well equipped bathroom. But the bedroom is smaller than we expected. We did learn that the accommodation was close to a main bus hub/interchange and once we were told the various buses which brought one into the city centre and, in particular, to connect with the airport bus, we managed to make good use of this Bus hub/interchange over our two days in Santander. Jorge , the owner, is extremely friendly and has very fluent English and did provide useful information -- and an umbrella brolly for use during our stay as the weather was very wet and downcast! All staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons: Bedroom was smaller than we expected - perhaps photographs taken for booking.com were too complimentary? While the location was relatively close to the beach, it was at the western end of the beach and a good distance from the restaurants in Plaza de Italia and Calle de Joaquin Costa. We have stayed at the Plaza de Italia end of the seafront on several occasions in the past and would probably go back to that area when we next visit Santander.

GARAGE IS ACCESSIBLE BY CAR ELEVATOR. YOU SHOULD HAVE A SMALL CAR TO MAKE IT WORK. it was great to be able to park our car there due to difficult parking in city . Very nice reasonably priced breakfast buffet.

Cons: My partner refused the room in the mansion because of the smell of damp and dogs. We took what looked like a nice room in the more modern annexe overlooking the very nice gardens but which unfortunately also seemed to be damp. As a result I paid up for the 2 nights but left after 1.

The hotel was signposted when we got closer making it easy to find and has the most amazing views to wake up to! We had a room with a jacuzzi bath making our one night stay feel even more luxurious. The staff were lovely and helpful during our stay.

Cons: We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the public car park behind the hotel was full and it wasn’t clear where else it would be ok to park as the area is residential. We quickly found a space in a marked bay to use a few roads away to use.

Pros: Receptionist was helpful on check-in although didn't seem to have much knowledge of the local area, in particular places to eat so we struggled a bit to find somewhere on our first night. The rooms are lovely, spacious although limited storage space if you were staying for more than a few days. We didn't have dinner or breakfast so no idea if it was good or not. It's in a very quiet area although I had to close my windows due to a nearby dog barking all night long which made the room a bit too warm to sleep.

Pros: Very old world hotel with matching furnishings but very comfortable. Room had two large balconies which were good for sitting out. The one staff member on at night was extremely helpful

Cons: Very difficult to locate hotel and even more so as main road was closed. Checked before hand to see if hotel had restaurant as this was unclear. It did not but we were reassured that there was a restaurant only 20 meters away and were subsequently directed to it. "Restaurant", although nearby, was a bit more than 20 m., was only serving drinks and looked as though it never served food but this may be the wrong impression. No other restaurants nearby but night staff very happy to arrange an "Italian takeaway meal" to be delivered to the hotel. All very good but not an ideal start to our Spanish holiday

Pros: The views are spectacular, the rooms comfortable, and the breakfast varied and delicious. It was the perfect place for us (parents and 6 month old baby) to use as a home base to explore the region. The location is really great and even if you do nothing but hang around the hotel for a few days, the fresh air, views and serenity will make you feel recharged. The staff gave us tons of information about the area as well

Pros: The courtyard was pretty. Rooms were clean and well decorated

Cons: Pool water was murky. One receptionist was good, one poor. Not much close by. Nothing apart from the attractiveness of hotel to make it stand out

Pros: The welcome was lovely and information for our stay was clear and concise. The room itself was unbelievably comfortable and spacious. The location was spectacular and although we only booked in for one night en route south, we will return and base ourselves at the hotel to explore further.

Cons: It's not that we didn't like anything, however the ability to have refreshments on arrival would be nice. We needed to travel a few kms to get ourselves some sustenance after travelling all day.

Pros: Spacious rooms. Ideally located for exploring Santander. Parking was an option which is a must for Santander.

Cons: Very noisy at nights. Bin lorries run until the early hours of the morning. No air con, so need windows open at night, which adds to the noise.

Pros: Centrally located room only hotel with no frills. Clean comfortable room close to bars and restaurants. There is a car park pre booking required although we ended up paying €16 locally.

Pros: Our second visit and even better than our first. Our room faced but was quieter than the previous room that faced the back. Maybe Sunday is a quieter night than Wednesday? No traffic in the morning until after 7.30.

Pros: When first looking to book a hotel in Santander, thought that somewhere near Sardinero beach would be the best option, but in fact, Vincci Puertochico is much better placed for the bars and restaurants... and is only a short walk away from Magdalena and Bikini beaches.

Cons: The air-conditioner was very basic and did not work properly. It was too cold on the warmest setting but we had to turn it off. Luckily the weather was mild.

Cons: 1. WIFI does NOT work. Missed deadlines! I was unable to do work because of wifi not working, missed important deadlines! 2. Every door slams so loud that sounds like bomb. 3. Smells cheap and kinda nasty. 4. Receptionists are incompetent and showed attitude instead of trying to resolve the problems related o WIFI. 5. The day I was leaving they proposed to change room. I thought it was clear expression of mocking and making fun of a customer. 5. In room 506, there is a light on the building outside near the window, which so strong that at night seems like you are the beach in front of the sun and the curtains do not help. I am not a light sleeper and I fall asleep easily, during this 4 day stay I could not sleep because of that and extremely loud door slamming. Overall experience was horrible. I flew across the globe from Los Angeles for work and due to mainly almost not working WIFI my trip was next to nothing. I feel I was robbed. This hotel does not deserve to be 4 star one.

Cons: Booking.com sent us to wrong address - we had to use the hotel website to app in the correct location. Frustrating, as we were on foot. Also the restaurant was not open until 8:30 for dinner. Food was wonderful, but we would’ve preferred to eat sooner. And we were too tired to walk into town to find something else. A little closer to town would’ve worked better for us. Still a great little hotel.

Cons: Long walk for access to the beach. Information in the room said lunch available from 1 til 4.30 so we walked back from town in the heat so we could sit in the garden and eat. On arrival we were told lunch was not available as it was winter - on September 27th! The information in the room should have told us this and we were disappointed as we hadn't found anywhere in Somo that we really wanted to eat. Swimming pool so cold as to be unusable!

Pros: Great quiet location, beach very close and bustling Somos not far off.

Pros: Friendly small hotel. Ideal location for me because my family had rented an apartment along the same street and I joined them for activities and most meals.

Cons: The sloping ceiling in my room was awkward because I am tall. The tiles on the bathroom floor were dangerously slippery when wet.
