Pros: wonderful beach, very clean, great gardens, very nice timeshare unit with all conveniences, well-equipped gym
Cons: It would be nice to have a real restaurant.
The parking spaces were very narrow
no lap swimming pool
roosters wake me up at 4 am

And be sure to indulge in a pampering massage in one of our on-site cabanas during your Poipu Beach vacation! We're looking forward to making you feel special here at Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club.
Pros: great pools and beachfront location, amazing landscaping
Cons: resort is almost too large. Also, some areas need a good scrubbing. In the 5 days that we were there, pool was not vacuumed and pool tiles need to be scrubbed.
Pros: Beautiful property. Ocean views are well worth the price. Our room included breakfast brunch which was extensive and on an open floor with fantastic facility/ocean views.
Cons: You have to rent (read: pay) for cabanas.
Experience graceful grandeur at this Hawaiian classic resort set on the soothing white sands of Kauai’s sunny south shore. This exquisite resort beckons with 50 acres of lush gardens and pristine pools. Amenities abound from golf at Poipu Bay Resort to fresh island flavors at resort restaurants to the lavish, open-air Anara Spa. Hawaii TAT Number: TA-207-370-2400-01
Pros: Facilities are more intimate than the neighboring mega resorts (Hyatt / Marriott). Top notch service with great amenities. Rooms are well appointed and the beds are some of the most comfortable we'd ever slept in (and we travel A LOT). Pool is quiet and very relaxing. Beaches are steps away and provide a relatively quieter experience than the surrounding beaches.
Cons: Restaurant is overrated and overpriced. Just tries too hard to be something it isn't. Pool bar is wonderful, but drinks are a bit pricey ($14-16 avg)...that said, they are delicious and the bar tenders are great (shout out to Jamie!). Not much to complain about here, this resort it top shelf.
Pros: Excellent service, very nicely appointed rooms, truly oceanfront experience without the gaudy mega resort layout to navigate to get a great view and easy beach access. We had a garden view room, but unlike big hotels where that means a view of the parking lot, this faced a nicely manicured and quiet lawn area, and all you had to do was step out and you could see the ocean. Every time we passed the big vacation club next door with the screaming kids, aqua-aerobics, and vacationers packed like sardines next to each other, I was grateful that I had booked this place.
Cons: Pool bar was not open for many hours, pool was too warm and shallow for any real swimming, and it would be nice if there was self parking allowed, but it's a small hotel, and I get they don't have the space!
Pros: We Really liked the easy access to all the amenities. Large resorts are a drain on a laid back vacation... Large resort this is NOT. We really enjoyed being just steps away from the beach and pool area. We would definitely come back!!
Cons: The reviews for Red Salt sounded astounding. We are there our first night and wasn't impressed. The food was definitely okay but just not as astounding as the reviews led us to believe.

Cons: Unfortunately just wasn't what we expected. Checking in was fine. We had a amazing view of the back of the restaurant and seeing all the servers smoke and talk story, maybe that's why their service sucked so much! On a number of occasions we tried to trade out wet towels for dry towels but there were no clean towels! Even when it rained and our towels were soaking wet they didn't have dry ones to dry ours kids off when getting out of the pool, hopefully they don't get sick! There was a lot of inconsistency when it came to security and checking for the slide. Some workers would allow my kids to go and others would say they weren't tall enough. We ate at the restaurant on 3 different occasions every time the service was awful. Pricing for food was really high for the amount and quality you were getting. The last day our server by the pool was awful. She never wrote anything down so forgot everything we ordered. After an hour of putting our food order in she said they were trying to look for hot dogs and couldn't find any, I could have gone to big save in that amount of time and cooked them up and fed my children. We ordered something else that took another 45 min. There was no sorry or anything for the time it took to just get our food. When you have starving children in the sun all day not the best time to be taking a while to get food. We depended on the restaurant because we were in a studio and couldn't cook anything. No one warned us about bringing our slippers in from our slider door and how awful the water smells. In the morning after the sprinklers went off, all of our stuff smelt like sewage!!! We called and asked for a later check out and they apologized but someone would be checking Into the room, since we could see the room from the restaurant they didn't even get to cleaning it until after 5 pm!!! i am just so shocked they have such a huge place with great potential and you can't even find a manager around. I know they are now merging with Marriott but go to the Waiohai you will have a much better experience.
Pros: Clean, new facilities and the staff was very friendly and helpful. A variety of excellent restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance.
Cons: It's a bit of a walk to a sandy beach but there's not a lot of it on this coast. Construction of the new pool area was a bit of an eyesore but they'll be complete soon.
Pros: Everything, the staff was excellent

Each of our deluxe studios or villas seamlessly blends island comfort and easy elegance to make you feel right away at home - relax on your expansive lanai, or use your fully stocked gourmet kitchen or kitchenette and enjoy an authentic island meal - at Koloa Landing you are home.
Pros: The facilities are superb, the staff is outstanding, the food is very good (mainly breakfast). The snorkeling at the front beach is amazing. Lots is different and colorful fishes. Turtles also come by.
Cons: Internet speed. Although it is reached wherever you are, it definitely lacks speed.
Pros: The property is breathtaking the moment you set foot in it. Sea turtles and beautiful fish swim right there in the lagoon with you. Staff is very attentive. Sunsets are incredible and the nice acoustic singer sets the perfect mood. They had a nice champagne in our room for our honeymoon.
Cons: I chose this property after doing a LOT of research and the main reason was because there were a lot of activities for guests included with the stay (or so I thought). The brochure on their website is very misleading, it lists fitness activities without any pricing. My husband and I did Floating Yoga a couple of times and then I saw a charge of $20 per person per class on the final bill. I couldn't dispute it because apparently it was stated on the sign in sheet, but at 6:45am I really wasn't reading the fine print on what I was putting my name and room number on. The resort fee of $25 per day only includes parking and very slow wifi. Everything else is charged, even shaded chairs at the beach. Too many additional charges, in my opinion.
Pros: Hotel was okay but you can't compare to a four seasons.
Cons: Need more people at the front desk. There are a lot of stray cats on the premises.
Pros: Room is beautiful and the restaurants were excellent, maybe the large pool was excellent we landscaped and pool isn't to be at. Many activities to enjoy at the beach. The outdoor spa treatments are amazing! With the most friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Leaving, The only casual dining was at lunch.
Pros: The housekeeping service, facilities, the restaurants, the pool area services, the sunset ritual
Cons: the beach is terrible, the inconsistency in serving the same breakfast - the waffle was presented with and without additions, like whipped cream, spiced sugar, coconut sauce. Unacceptable.
Pros: It was a beautiful resort. The lagoon was great and the snorkeling was good.
Cons: This would be a great place to stay if you have no complaints or issues. The staff is not helpful at all. Not the front desk, not at the restaurants. It's as if apathy and not luxury service should be the hotel motto. It is pervasive. We had an issue with smoke in our room. It was coming through the AC. They kept calling to apologize and offering assistance but when I would meet with the front desk they would do nothing. It is advertised as a non smoking facility.
The Fairmont Orchid is a 32-acre tropical island paradise located beach front on the northwestern coast of the Big Island. Placed throughout the grounds there are courtyards, waterfalls and fountains to discover. You can relax on our sugar-white beach with crystal clear waters or explore the Polynesian culture of the island.
Pros: Room cleanliness, size, restaurants, beach, service was great. You get what you pay for..
Cons: Cheap snorkels
Pros: Bed was very comfortable and the room spacious. Everything was very clean. Fantastic location.
Pros: Sweeping open spaces far from the crowds of Kailua-Kona. Beautiful open lobby and a cool drink at check in. Nice pool and great beach. This was our 3rd visit and probably won't be our last.
Cons: Always at least one flight of stairs to get down to pool and beach, so beware if someone in your party is mobility impaired. As others have commented, dining options are few and pricey. The Coast Grille was closed for renovation during our stay, limiting the choices even more. Fortunately, there are many choices further up the Kohala coast and a little ways inland at Waimea. We do miss the old tradition of free orange "slippahs" in the room, but apparently the bean counters got to that one.
Pros: We loved the location. The pool area was outstanding for families. The beach was very accessible and beautiful. It was very quiet and relaxing. We would stay here again.
Cons: The eating choices were few and expensive. The location felt isolated so that the only convenient choice for food was the hotel. That food was very expensive. One restaurant was closed the whole time we were there.
Pros: Great location and beautiful grounds - basic but nicely done.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Lobby is gorgeous and rooms are spacious, though outdated,
Cons: VERY few restaurants or bars open on site. Made it look and feel like a hotel on the way down.
Looked like a lot of events had just happened and the staff had not gotten around to cleaning up yet.
$12 for in-room wireless is SO yesterday. Hotels without site-wide free wireless are just trying to tap guests (aka hostages) for their last $. Had to go to lobby to get free wireless.
Give this facility a little facelift and keep more restaurants/bars open and you might get more occupancy, more energy, and more revenue.
Pros: Location at the beach is excellent except that there are no real alternatives to hotel restaurants.
Cons: Outdated, especially bathroom and not very clean. All in 80's style. Tried restaurant once for breakfast and very disappointed. Parking too expensive, should be free (self parking far away from room).
Pros: The views are amazing and can't be beat! Very quiet and comfortable. Perfect luxury!

Pros: The location was great and the surrounding grounds fantastic. The beech was a short walk, the grounds were pleasant and the whole area was beautiful. We had a great time there.
We arrived early and while early check-in wasn't possible, the staff was really friendly and helpful -- supplying beech towels and storing our food that needed to be refrigerated.
Cons: The unit was a bit flawed. The carpets are very worn and the supplied kitchen supplies minimal.

Pros: The location was great and we wound up in a garden view room which was really nice.
Cons: Front desk staff was not great.
Cons: My flight didn't leave until 10:30pm I was only able to extend my checkout until noon.
Pros: The aloha of the staff was the best we've ever experienced anywhere. Our housekeeper Delilah was the most friendly, accommodating and welcoming person I think we've ever met. She really went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. We'd go back just for her.
Overall, the grounds are very clean as are the rooms. The place is a tad dated but well cared for. Our room had an outstanding view in bldg 1.
On site restaurants were good but pricey. We opted to drive offsite nearly every night for more reasonable fare.
The locations is prime. Great beach, nice pool, and very close to retail shops and very good restaurants.
Cons: Our laundry facilities were in bldg 2 on the other side of the grounds. It would be nice to facilities in each bldg. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were terrible. Down and foam filled were the only two options - both of which tend to flatten out to nothing which offers zero support for your head and neck.
Pros: The location was convenient to where I needed to be. The staff was friendly.
Cons: The building I stayed in was quite far from the main desk area and the valet car pick up area.
Pros: We spent one night and two days on Kauai while visiting family on Oahu. The Sheraton was perfect for this. We were able to check in early and to check out late, making the most of our little time on the island. The room was clean, bed super comfortable and the staff were all helpful and friendly.
Cons: Like most resorts, most things on the grounds were pretty expensive.
Pros: Location is good: right on the water, with sunset views. This is the only good thing about this hotel.
Cons: Room was outdated, and tiny. Beds were saggy and uncomfortable. The tiles around the pool were broken or missing. We ordered a couples massage and found out the day before they don't even have a spa on-site, they farm it out to the Wyndham down the road. $30 resort fee per day that they didn't tell us about ahead of time. Although we of course didn't let it ruin our time (we were in kauai afterall!), this hotel was incredibly disappointing.

Pros: Beautiful plantation house, but maintenance needy. Nice to see public areas with much history.
Cons: Unfortunately, the wicker headboard in room 6 was musty and caused respitory issues with my travel partner.
Easy to find. Quiet. Beautiful grounds.
Pros: Beautiful historic house. Nice suite. Plenty of space.
Cons: We were not told which rooms we could use and if we could use the pool table, games or books in the main house.
Person who greeted us was amazing and patient.
Pros: Comfy bed
Cons: The cleanliness could be a little better, but overall it was an amazing stay.
Pros: The setting was very pleasing. The atmosphere was great.
Cons: Parking wasn't the most convenient. No refrigerator and no Television.
Pros: The history and the furnishings we're awesome
Cons: No internet connection available, bar permanently closed and no breakfast available at the inn. In need of paint and a thorough cleaning.

Pros: Great price, great location (walk to the beach, to the pool, to Poipu village and Kalepaki Joes), kitchen had everything I needed, loved the complimentary mai tai on check in and the bottle of wine in the condo, also the free wifi.
Cons: Only had decaffeinated tea bags! Would have liked a small carton of milk rather than the coffee creamer powder....
