10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs , the location and the view.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed every bits of the room especially the bathroom and the superb view! Good service from the hotel crew.
Cons: Maybe a general assumption that all visitors to this hotel will drive. Would be good if they can indicate the nearest bus stop. Plus, it gets a bit eerie to walk to the hotel from the bus stop after dark as you’ll pass by abandon shrines and graveyards. So, taxi would be the best choice if you can splurge about max 2500yen per way. Else, bus is only under 400yen and if you get a day pass of 1000yen, unlimited bus ride to major attractions around wakayama!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: View..location and helpful staff
Cons: A little bit far..if we want to find restaurants
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was opened less than a month before our visit. A lot of thought had gone into the decor and styling of the rooms. Unusually, the baths were like those in Japanese homes, with a control panel. This is definitely a luxury as long as you understand how to operate the controls for filling the bath and changing temperatures. Access to the beach was also convenient and well thought out. All in all, it was a lovely place to stay for a special night away. The rooms were comfortable, calm and quiet.
Cons: As it is a brand new place, I got the impression that the management were still finding their feet a little. They were very friendly and super polite. There were no coffee/tea-making facilities in the room. There was a vending machine and coin laundry on our floor and coffee and tea available in the restaurant but no explanation was given. All written information was in Japanese so a foreign guest might have trouble understanding it. I think that with time and a few tweaks, this hotel has the potential to offer a very pleasant stay. We would definitely stay there again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cosy decor
Cons: Rooms a little small :/
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was modern and clean and the views over the ocean were spectacular
Cons: It was a little far from town a and stuff to do
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Mini Greece feel, the rm, toiletries & view are fantastic! Excellent service provided by one of the managers who speak very good English. (Forgot His name.) He is more accommodating & flexible to customers’ needs. He even managed to arrange dinner for us when the restaurant was fully booked that night.
Cons: As Resort is located up a slope, it would be great if they could provide shuttle service to nearby train / bus stations. To provide more f&b choices esp when the location is quite inaccessible.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room has an exceptional view, such a quiet amazing place it feels like you're on a cruise ship. All is shiny and new, super clean, comfortable, luxurious.
Cons: Breakfast hours is from 7-8.30!! What kind of luxury hotel doesn't let its guests be able to eat food whenever they want? Especially given that the hotel is very secluded and far from any sort of café or restaurant. We always ended up sleeping in given the sound of the waves and the comfy beds, but then ended up having to take a taxi somewhere in the city to be able to eat. Also a gym would have been nice, as there really is nothing special to do in the off seasons when the water is still to cold to bathe in.

Sana Inn Town - Hostel - Wakayama - Building
3
8.6 Excellent (164 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Wakayama, Sana Inn Town - Hostel is within a 15-minute drive of Wakayama Castle and Porto Europa. Featured amenities include microwave in a common area and refrigerator in a common area.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was nice, there was a little kitchen to use and 2 toilets. Everything was clean and tidy.
Cons: Everything was nice. Thing is, there is not always someone in the place, between 9pm and 9am.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very kind staff, clean beds and bathrooms, quiet area.
Cons: The dorm is actually a capsule hotel with all related negatives (bad air circulation and high temperature in the capsule) and it seemed to me kind of expensive for a capsule hotel (later I travelled to more places in the region and everywhere I paid less, incl. single room in Osaka during Golden Week). On the other hand, it was the cheapest option in Wakayama.
7.5 Good
Pros: Capsule hotel style guesthouse in Wakayama city. Compact and the bed was surprising comfortable. There is a common space in each room with a table and chairs, so there's plenty of space to leave luggage or have a light meal and mingle. It was great for staying one night and moving on to the next city.
Cons: The staff leave once people have checked in, so don't expect to be able ask questions after hours or in the evening. The box for valuables in each bunk is weird to use, the holes for the lock don't line up, requiring you to use the cable lock provided by the property. However, the lock is a cheap daiso 100 yen lock which can easily be unlocked by clicking the bottom of the lock with a pen, regardless of the combination. Keep that in mind and bring your own lock with a tiny cable if you plan to leave your valuables for an extended amount of time on the property.
6.3 Good
Pros: Near from Wakayamashi station around 1 km or 15 minutes walk. From Wakayama station around 2 km by 20 minutes walk. In front of location there was bus stop, so it is very easy to catch the public transportation. The shower room vey small not comfort to take a shower, but there was space for change the cloth.
Cons: There is 10 bunks while shower room and toilet only. So we need to wait the other people finish the toilet / shower room. The front desk not arrange clear, many stuff everywhere.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The owner was a kind man. But overall I couldn't recommend this place. It was expensive for a family of four for what it was but it was clean.
Cons: This is a very basic hostel which we had to ourselves (four people) however eight here with only one toilet and one shower would be pretty unbearable I imagine.
7.5 Good
Pros: 1, The staff is friendly, I didn't search any information before I arrived at Wakayama, so the staff gave me many advices which helped me a lot. 2, The bed is good and comfortable, and the bathroom is clean.
Cons: 1, Only one bathroom for 10 people's room, which is apparently not enough at all. Cannot imagine how terrible it would be if there're 10 ppl need to use bathroom. 2, The location is far from either JR station or Nankai station, it takes about 20 mins to arrive at the property.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: There was enourms noice from the heater in the very little room. It was eigther cold or very much noice. The room was much to small and the bed was ro small for2 persons.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was convenient for the city center and the station, facilities were clean (unfortunately there were some dirty people using it but that’s not their fault). Ok if you just need a bed for a night and nothing else is available
Cons: The hostel itself is pretty sad: no decorations, concrete walls without paint, no common areas, no table nor kitchen utensils (not even a fork or chopstick, c’mon people!!), no complementary tea and coffee, no real information desk. No wonder this hostel was available on a Saturday as opposed to the one we’ve stayed at the night before that was booked for days...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The space is really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The man is so kind
Cons: I did not get any girlfriend

9.5 Excellent
Pros: A fantastic place with tones of character and lovely staff. The rooms are large and clean full of interesting touches. The bar and restaurant has great food. The area is terrific too. If you’re looking at this place, you will love it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I really appreciated it.
Cons: A little bit of a walk from the station but it was doable!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooftop was a must. The staff is kind . The place is well-decorated. Easy to find and good location (15min by walk from the train station.)
Cons: Toilets in the room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice decoration and staff With an onsen just in front
10.0 Excellent
Pros: a very good hotel and a very kind staff there as well as the good location. there is a commercial street providing a selection of food and drinks and other entertainment. I really appreciate it for staying in Wakayama! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host with great atmosphere. Good to have a drink at night.
Cons: nope
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I like the cafe & bar space and staff. The atmosphere of bar is nice, and has many books about cafes in Wakayama. (because I like cafe-hopping) And all the staff are very good and friendly.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostel entrance is very quaint but is separate from the actual rooms. You have to take a lift up to the 4th floor to get to your room. The industrial style of the place is very interesting.
Cons: I did not like the toilet seat covers which were like an odd cloth material, it find it a very bizarre concept. Surely if you are putting a cover on the seat it would be more effort to clean these, if they are cleaned at all. I'm a clean freak and this made me feel uncomfortable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really like the bunk beds, the curtains they, the light and sockets at each bed. The bar, lounge and common areas were cozy and stylish and I love how accommodating and friendly the entire staff was. The place was so aesthetically pleasing. I was EXTRA HAPPY when I realized that they had shampoo, conditioner and body wash in all the showers for free. I think previously they didn't and I was worried about that, but when I went there they did and that really made the stay perfect for me. They also have a fridge where you can keep your food and a microwave, both of which are found on the same floor the rooms are in. They also had a functioning kitchen downstairs. I also liked how comfy their pillows were and how clean everything was. They cleaned every day. The location is great, there's a bus stop just 3 minutes away and you can go to the JR station or the Nankai station. There were also many eateries around and the staff really help you out in getting familiar with the area. I also like that there was a sentou (traditional public bath house) just across the street. I'm sad I didn't get to do but oh well, I'll try again next time. The internet was decent too. I could stream netflix or youtube on my laptop with not problem. I think you get more than what you pay for with this place.
Cons: Nothing really. Oh, I wish they had bidets in all the bathrooms. They only had one in the ground floor bathroom. Other than that everything was perfect.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful, clean and modern hostel! Love the bar and common area downstairs, as well as the rooftop. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and staff were great. Location is good, not too far from the station and in a nice quiet area.
Cons: Only one toilet and shower on our floor, luckily there weren't many other guests staying at the time

9.3 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was so posh and visually impressive. Very spacious The room had aboslutley everything our room even had a massage chair and a spa. I’ve literally never stayed in a more comfortable room and there was a massive tv with free movies
Cons: Only thing I can think of was that the area seemed a bit dead but we didn’t do our research and we had already seen so much in japan I wanted to go fishing and the hotel gave us bikes free of charge and we found a good fishing spot relatively close by so happy days
6.8 Good
Pros: Large rooms
Cons: This motel was in the middle of industrial area. No supermarket as indicated. No restaurant nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and efficient staff; excellent room given the price
Cons: No window in the room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing syating experience in Japan, could say one of the best. Room was huge, as we had a king bed, a lounge, and a big bathtub. Ammenities were also impressive: free cakes and drinks and lot of toiliteries. The location is not central but not that bad even for public transport: 1 bus or train and bus (tought it was a little bit difficult to find it in advance). Even being a love hotel seems reslly fancy and stayable. Definitely would come back again!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Huge size room and whirlpool bath. massage machine is the best among all.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and small hotel, clean , Tidy and Big Room ! Next to hotel have a big and 24 hours supermarket, Natural Hot spring also next to hotel ! This hotel is on the way to Kuroshio Market, and near the city/Wakayama. Very recommend!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was 90 square meters! Actually, a suite of rooms with a bathroom bigger than most hotel rooms. The bedroom even contained a massage chair that gives a massage better than the one I paid for the day before in Osaka. The staff were very obliging and helpful. A range of breakfast options delivered to your room. Ample parking if you are travelling by car. The manager was super helpful and the okonomiyaki restaurant he recommended was excellent.
Cons: The wifi was weak in our room but could be better in other rooms. I would make a specific request if making a booking.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room is decent, with wooden Japanese style decorations, 2 TVs, tables for having breakfast. Large bathroom with massage tub. Free dessert and drinks in the lobby.
Cons: Far away from the Jr station, need to take bus for 25 mins and then walk. Far away from the Wakayama shi station too. The bus to Wakayama shi station operates every hour only. There's adult content on the TV free channels, not suitable for children. Staff speak little English. Didn't get the genius discount price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Superb staff and room decor
5.5 Okay
Pros: Rooms were lovely and big
Cons: Location was in the middle of an industrial area and unless you had a vehicle or wanted to pay heaps for taxis you were stranded from Getting to tourist areas . Staff on at the time couldn’t even be bothered to say where the elevated was and didn’t tell us there was room service until we found it .

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lobby staff were so helpful and super nice and friendly. The location is awesome. Close to a mall and supermarket and also the train station
8.3 Excellent
Pros: 1 minute from Wakayama station, 15~20 minutes walk to Wakayama castle and major tourist attractions. Perfect access to any part of region via railways. Nice garden view from the window, clean room.
Cons: At Granvia Okayama they had more amenities for female guests. Had a trouble as there were no cotton pads to remove make-up.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I spent only one night in this hotel the day I arrived in Japan, I was given room 740 which was kind of small (kind of expected in Japan for standard rooms) but still had everything needed in terms of furniture and amenities. The bed was also comfy, not too hard and not too soft. The staff was really helpful, they helped me filling the form required to forward my luggage to the next hotel. All in all I'd say that this hotel gives you a good-enough value for the price, especially when you consider its position just in front of the Wakayama railway station.
Cons: On the day of check-in there was at least one of the staff at the reception desk with great English skills, on the other hand on the day of check-out it was very difficult to communicate with the staff. We still managed and I'm not really bothered by this, mind you, but I was kind of surprised because when you are greeted at the reception desk by someone so good at speaking English you'd expect that the hotel has at least one person on duty at any time capable of communicating in English.

Cons: Wakayama has two train stations which both are worth using, so if you live near one station it might be inconvinient in some way to use anothe one. Anyway, it was good to live at least near one train station.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Room was not too big.

Pros: great location to the castle
Cons: room and Mattress is not big enough
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We got the upgrade to the room with the castle view which was super nice! Room is big in Japanese standards. There is a massage chair and face mask for ladies available. There's a shopping center with the restaurants and a grocery store downstairs, so everything is near.
Cons: Even though the receptionist double checked about the non-smoking room, there was a slight smoking smell. We are not too sensitive, so no complains. But for a sensitive person can be a problem.
7.5 Good
Pros: The views from our room
Cons: Hotel is a bit old, windows were small
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is the best
Cons: Better if the reception staffs know more English
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was upgraded from City view room to Castle view room for free. The view of the castle was fantastic! Very beautiful when lit up at night as well. Interestingly, the hotel room also provided a free smartphone to use which had unlimited data and google apps (and would wipe off your data on your checkout date). The hotel is directly opposite the Wakayama Castle and the Koen-mae bus stop which takes you directly to Marina City or JR Wakayama. Also in the same building which has a small mall, some restaurants and a Family Mart.
Cons: There is nothing in particular I did not like about the stay. Due to the upgrade to Castle view room the room was not prepared for two people staying and only had one set of towel, toothbrushes, slippers etc but we went down to the reception and asked for it anyway so that wasn't really a problem.
8.5 Excellent

Pros: The hotel has a very nice view of the port where the private boats berthed. It is also very close to the popular Porta Europa and Kuroshio market. The hotel provided extravagant toiletries and pajamas, which i enjoyed using and wearing very much. :) My room is a smoking room, but it didn't smell! Probably because of the air purifier unit in the room.. Well done! Also, we had to check out early and the staff had provided us with a take away breakfast set and its portion was generous! Thank you!

7.5 Good
Pros: Spacious
6.3 Good
Pros: Quite big space in Japan standard. Clean.
Cons: A special interior design is not for everyone taste. Aircon makes too big noise, we must turn off at night!
5.0 Okay
Pros: It was basically ok. The life size mannequins in the entrance give you a bit of a fright each time you come in, which keeps you on your toes.
Cons: It's a slightly run down love hotel. There was nothing terribly wrong, but various things didn't work properly in the room, like some of the lighting and various features of the shower/bath. The room decor was either depressing or entertaining, depending on your outlook. You could get something nicer for what we paid.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Big and clean room, huge bed, big and clean toilet, good Wifi connection, no issues with the checkin or checkout process, even when my Japanese is less than basic, so, perfect choice for work trip. Pretty close from Wakayama station.
Cons: Nothing really.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are big and comfy for 3 of us. The decorations in each room is different. We like the decorations : very Japanese and very artistic. There is even a jackpot machine inside the room! Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Great value. Room was loaded with extras. Best bathroom I have seen in a Japanese small hotel. Microwave, fridge, huge bed. Staff allowed us to check in earlier and kept our luggage safe in room while we explored the City.
Cons: Walking distance to Castle and main train station. Lots of good inexpensive cafe and restaurants also. Great neighbourhood
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very interesting rooms, But next to a temple with tombs……a little far away from jr station.

Overview Reviews
Situated centrally in downtown Wakayama city, this is a old folk style retrospective accommodation housed in a remodelled builindg with a restaurant run by a local farmer on the 1st floor, and available limited to 1 group per day.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, easy access. In a shopping street but is quiet after business hours. Room is clean and comfort. We came across its Sunday market and many local food and craft booths. Excellent.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, excellent value for accommodations. room had wonderful tea and hot pot for guests. Provided an authentic Japanese style experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great value for family accommodation.
Cons: Only would like thicker futon for sleeping.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Overall pricing is good for our family of four. Traditional style, fairly comfortable and clean.
Cons: Entrance is by the side small stairwell which smell a bit. They are operating a restaurant downstairs after all. Minor issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable staying in japanese style and close to wakayamashi station.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We got the whole 2nd floor. But beware that there are 2 rooms and one common room. Maybe we were lucky and did not have any neighbours. It is a Japanese style property be ready to sit and to sleep on the floor. A bathroom and toilet are good. There are 2 balconies. The 1st near the entrance has a washing machine. The 2nd has a fridge and armchairs where you can relax looking at the cats in the cat's cafe in front.
Cons: Be prepared that staff do not speak English but it was not a problem for us. It isn't easy to find a property as it is located inside of the shopping street above the restaurant. And the front desk is inside this restaurant. You may find it if you only enter
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location right inside the shopping district. And we chanced upon the Sunday market - very interesting. We got the 2nd floor of the 2-storey building where the owners run an Italian restaurant below. So the place was quite spacious for 3 of us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its location is perfect.
Cons: Carrying our heavy and big suitcases was terrible. The room is upstair without elevator.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The sea view so perfert! And the dinner and breakfast too so delicious and the free shuttle bus. So accomodating. Thank you
7.5 Good
Pros: The onsen, the food and the facilities provided is great.
Cons: Hotel was quite unhelpful in terms of offering shuttle back to Kada Station on checkout day - only 2 timings at around 9.30 am and 10:10 am. So even if you checked out and want to explore the place a little more you would miss the free shuttle and have to take a cab. I think with this higher price we pay, hotel should try to accommodate providing free shuttle to guests returning to Kada Station at reasonably flexible timings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Onsen bath was excellent, the outdoor one was good too.
Cons: Not enough places to eat that were open. But this made the area more rustic
4.3 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Overpriced, old and run down, some (but not all) rude staff, and a bit like Fawlty Towers.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Scenic location with Onsen.
Cons: The premises is not new.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed room is very clean.
Cons: I found there is not clean enough on the spring hot top bathing area especially the floor is a bit slippy which means it is not clean enough.
6.3 Good
Pros: good ocean view
Cons: THIS HOTEL IS ON DECORATION, YOU WILL HEAR THE NOISY AT 7AM, AND THE WORSRT THING IS THAT YOU ASK HELP FROM FRONT DESK, THEY WOULD DENY IT AND SAY SORRY THEY DONT KONW WHAT HAPPENED.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The view was amazing. The room was spacious and the Onsen was good.
Cons: The hotel is getting really old, there’s cracks and stains on the walls, our bathroom was extremely dirty. It had dead insects, several weeks old dust and stagnant orange water in the bathtub. The manager the day we arrived wasn’t very welcoming and didn’t try to understand us even though we never had any problem with Japanese people before, she just proceeded to look at us like we were dumb and didn’t send us to the other, nice, English speaking, employees. Except her, every employee of the hotel was very helpful and welcoming.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is somewhat vintage, in a good way: it gives you a genuine Japanese hotel experience. You don't just walk in as in more oxidental hotel, as in smaller hotel you have to change shoes, but the difference is that here the staff if there to present you shoes. It seem anecdotal but it's part of little details that make the experience different and genuine. Other wise the onsen is really nice and the sea view great. All of this for a really fair price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice, clean and big room. We got upgrade room with sunset view. Onsen sea view was superb. Good for family stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Particularly helpful staff, upgraded room, exceptionally clean and comfortable as well as being spacious for Japanese accomodation.
Cons: Some may find the bedding firm, i like this and expect it in Japan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Near to train station & 7-eleven is just a few step away from hotel. Spacious room allows me to comfortably pack my touring bike.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel was right next to the train station
Cons: My partner and I opened the property location link on booking.com onto google maps- and we ended up walking 20 mins away from the actual location with our heavy luggage in the heat. We were so frustrated that we ended up googling the hotel name and found out it was right next to the train station.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Convenient, staff was excellent & so gracious & kind ! Thank you very much for excellent help finding our Granddaughter’s favorite hand puppet animal, she was so grateful & happy! We will always remember the first young staff employee that went extra way to help!!! We will always remember your Hotel service . 9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location We drive a car and stay one night Hotel parking in the opposite of hotel not far We book two room for us because room are too small for us
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was very quiet. Close to train station. The price was very good. The staff did their best; it was helpful to utilize Google Translate to help them out. The bed was on the small size for two people but comfortable. A japanese breakfast was included in the price, which was nice.
Cons: Thermostat was difficult to figure out, with no English instructions. The lobby smelled faintly of cigarettes.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location - 4/5 mins stroll to JR Station & buses
Cons: Extremely dark bedroom caused by small window & walls/ceiling decorated in 'black' Breakfast was sub-standard & did not cater for non-Asian clients Hotel appears to meet the needs of business clients but tourists may be disappointed
