Very good staff. Central location. Car Park
Your Hotel was very friendly, clean and your staff were very attentive. Bar was very busy at times, felt the staffing level at these times were a bit down, causing embarrasment to your staff who were doing their best to support your guests and keep the beer flowing
Friendly staff. Good food and excellent facilities.
The staff were excellent. The food was very good, beautifully presented with a high level of cleanliness and comfort. I could not fault it.
The reception staff were excellent. The drinks were expensive at the bar - £10 for 3 tea's and a coffee.
coffee & tea in your room for your use great as we arrived at 1am.
The day staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. A lovely modern feel to the hotel and room facilaties were excellent. A very comfortable stay at a good discounted rate. Not enough car parking spaces. Night reception not available to answer for room service, physically went to reception no-one at the desk. Resturant - Not a lot of room in the buffet area.
breakfast cushions on the bed didnt look clean
comfortable room, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast, convenient location for town our booking had not registered on their system despite my e-mailed confirmation, however it was dealt with efficiently on our arrival;disappointed with the swimming pool which was more akin to a child's paddling pool for one
Inability to deal with two complaints about the room adequately or to compensate for these
all of my stay no english breakfast
Breakfast : Polite and helpful staff Restaurant in hotel could have been more seperate from lounge area No other restaurant close by
Everything was OK, friendly staff, i was a bit surpriced, hotel s located near M27 motorway, but room was very quiet.Restaurant was also OK, i missed full english brekafast and more food in menu
Fresh, clean, nicely decorated and good range of breakfast items. A warm bedroom and very clean bathroom. We were surprise that there was a limited choice of drinks in the room and no biscuits
Location. Central for Southampton and the University area The rooms were cold as background heating kept at 14 degrees celsius when no one in room and took a long time to heat up.
The location was very handy for us.
easy to find and to use the restaurant at night offer a poor menu
Very expensive for an "overnight" hotel
A great hotel would go back in the future lovely breaksfast a great location for shopping The smoke alarm going off at 3.30 am in the am by a person who was smoking where they shouldnt have been !! hope they got fined
Room was large, well appointed and clean. More than I needed for the night, but recommended to me and with a late arrival I preferred a traditional hotel. No breakfast or coffee.
Noisy bar area with leaking roof
Excellent breakfast included, nice bar First room had (147) some intermittent mechanical noise but I requested move and they complied
Staff were charming and very helpful. Location fantastic and bar extensive Hotel is a bit dated and not worthy of 5 star
The whole experience - staff - accommodation - food N o
very pleased with all areas of the hotel ,i have no complaints at all.
the view from our window the breakfast wasnt as good as i expected, no pancakes!
Really good location for West Quay shopping Only grip was that the pillows were really hard and uncomfortable
The high standard of service
We have now stayed twice at hotel and have found staff helpful and atmosphere very relaxing n/a
No Air Con in room only a broken floor standing fan.
Location, leisure facilities Being woken by cleaners moaning about other cleaners not doing there job very loud
Friendly and helpful staff Soiled clothing items from a previous guest left in the room.
the rooms were a good size and warm. there were no hand towels or wash cloths in room.
food in the restraunt was fantastic, staf were very friendly
Friendly informative staff, excellent breakfast, unique design of bedroom, bathroom and lighting Bedroom was too warm at night. difficult to open windows and would have been noisy
Convenient for cruise Paying for car park
ony the above, rudeness of a member of staff
adam was very helpful breakfast price too high
Good location nice gym and small pool a good hotel for business or leisure.I was however charged twice on my credit card and this was resolved by the management Food was expensive considering the local restaurants that were available in the area. GBP13.50 for breakfast seems on the high side when the IBIS Hotel was half of that price
The exercise room is fantastic and so are the people. The breakfast was amazing, clean, and hot. Need to replace the carpeting on floor 4. The bathrooms are new. the furniture in good shape, but the carpeting is horrible.
Good breakfast Uncomfortable beds. No decent tv. Swimming pool out of use. Small rooms.
room decorated very nicelly with luxury touches in a very nice refubrished 19 century wearhouse. Very nice coffee maker in the room, comfortable bed and the Italian food at the restaurant was great the hotel is part of a restaurant downstairs and have no proper lobby, looks more like a pub with rooms upstairs. The room was very hot but a very noisy fan provided. People coming from the restaurant stayed talking laudly and smoking under my room window until late hours, not ideal if you have to wake up earlier next day. Wireless internet did not work .
Excellent location for transit to cruise ships, rooms well presented, food of a high standard, staff relations good.
Staff were friendly, good having restaurant underneath the hotel. We arrived late so this worked out very well. Think that breakfast should be included within the rate charged for the room.
Smart modern rooms - very helpful staff - excellent food in restaurant Nothing - it was spot on
Very nice decor Much to noicy - My room was right above a very busy street
This hotel and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom design very well thought out. The staff is professional and very gracious. We were very pleasantly surprised upon checking-in and would not hesitate to return. The only negative would be the lack of air conditioning and our stay was during a "heat wave".
Car parking was poor. Only just enongh spaces
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The noise from traffic during the night
Well appointed room with modern decor. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Liked the finishing touches of bathrobes and slippers. All staff polite and attentive and would definetely stay again at the reduced rate of £100 per night. Had lunch in the restaurant and it was very good. Would recommend. Liked everything! Having Stayed in Southampton hotels before (but not this one) I think other hotelliers could learn from these standards of comfort and cleanliness. Perhaps price could include continental breakfast.
close to the red jet and cruise ports and good food T.V did'nt work, very hot in the room, no room service just a few things that if put right would make an excellant hotel
Excellent breakfast.Outlook from room of Cathedral and river was lovely
Breakfast Dinner was only fair
value for money and location was excellent
We had room 19 which had a wonderful view of the garden and river. The people were very nice and helpful with travel information. I understand the property is in the midst of a renovation so I write this with the understanding that this item will probably be taken care of in due course. The furniture was more than a bit shabby.
the history of the hotel because we stayed in the old part the bar shut too eairly
The overall comfort of the room and the close proximity to Salisbury General Hospital (where my course was held) and also to the city centre and cathedral. Unfortunately I forgot to pack my mobile phone charger and hair conditioner. I was disappointed when nothing could be done to help as spares were not held on site to borrow or purchase, so I had to walk to the closest out of hours store to purchase them.
Receptionist was very helpful - showed us maps of Salisbury and trains stations etc
The people were pleasant and the meals and service in the restaurant were both very good. The bed was a king size bed however made up of two king size single mattresses of different heights of what seemed like at least an inch. This created a ridge line in the bed that made sleeping very difficult.
Friendly staff and nice large comfortable rooms. Windows in the room and bathroom were old and could do with replacing.
helpful and friendly staff nothing
I liked teh friendly staff whow ere always willing to help plus particularly the on site parking which saved significant amount of parking. The lounge area was exteremly hot and stuffy in the early evening which made it an unpleasant place to sit.
Its location for exploring Winchester is perfect. It is not the easiest place to find, we got it on the second time round the one way circuit! The place is warm and welcoming. There was a hint of shabiness about the place; the counterpaine was stained, the wallpaper in our room peeling in one corner, the shower hose only partially secured to the wall, basin hot tap dripping...
The garden was lovely, the room very comfortable and the staff very friendly. n/a
Room was reasonable size and had ok views. Restaurant nice and breakfast ok. Poor treatment by reception when we found we had left some clothing behind. Difficulty in extracting car from over-crowded car park. Room, particularly bathroom, in need of revamp.
Good location Quite basic rooms
location difficulty parking
central location to explore Winchester nice layout and friendly Room was a bit chilly Car park was crazy
Free parking even though the car park was fairly small so there could be a problem at night.. The breakfast was fresh for a cooked buffet although limited to only one choice of eggs - fried. No nibblies (olives/peanuts etc) at the bar to accompany our wine although the bar girl did offer to go and ask the chef. The corridors were very creaky so we could hear all late night and early morning people.
Central location Car parking
Excellent facilities, staff. Short stay but most enjoyable and will recommend to others
Friendly and helpful staff. Very pleasant location with excellent pub attached for a quiet drink and also for dinner. Good pub food for the price and good beer. Rooms very comfortable and nicely decorated, also quite spacious. Room temeperature was perfect (although it was possible for guests to adjust it if necessary) - we were there in November. The included breakfast was excellent - a very good choice of traditional cooked food (including vegetarian) as well as pastries, cereals etc. My wife and I definitely plan to return for a longer stay. Very little, if anything, to complain about. The vegetarian dish that my wife ordered for dinner was a bit bland, but there were at least two other vegetarian dishes on the menu which may well have been better.
Friendly staff, clean and cosy rooms, good breakfast in lovely restaurant.
Good location for new forest area and we found the room excellent. all the staff were very pleasant . Food we found was too heavy with sauces but that was a personal choice. Would definitely use the Inn again when in the area
room, staff food nothing
As described- lovely rooms, friendly service, well located. None
I most enjoyed the hospitality of the owners. I got a bigger room than that I'd booked. Nice restaurant and also nice breakfast.
Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and very efficient. Room was a very high standard and price was reasonable. No bad points
Food and menu choice was excellent and staff very attentive and helpfull. Fullers Hotel so beer choice very good. Large room so not crampted.
Excellent Inn, with superb rooms, and the best pub food we have ever found. Good and helpful staff Bed a little soft.
Finding somewhere with a New Year's package was ideal, as 3 course dinner, bar tickets & breakfast were all included in the price
Excellent decor and facilities ,partculary good bathroom. No
We were really inpressed with our room it was very clean, the bathroom was fantastic loved the shower. The hosts were very nice would go again hoping for a upgrade next time,
Nothing Exceptionally noisy. Dirty linen. Had to go and find the receptionist in the bar. I cannot fathom how this place managed to get a 5 star rating. Perhaps I should have been warned by the "tavern" in the name.
This is one of the most unique hotels that I have ever had the experience of visiting. The history of the property is fascinating - originally part of the White Star Line, to whom the Titanic belonged. The staff could not have been any more accommodating! This hotel is a keeper!
Extremely proffesional and friendly staff
Excellent room, very comfortable. Ideal location.
It was extremely handy for accessing our cruise ship at Gate 4 and served our purpose very well. Not quite the traditional hotel we expected but after initial surprise we found it to be comfortable and convenient for our purpose
The White Star Tavern is in a great location for using as a base as everything is within walking distance. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast menu with food freshly prepared. Looking forward to staying here again.
Nice Area bed comfortable. Overall good accomadation but a couple of staff were far too busy for the number of people, ie 15 minutes to check out, restaraunt fully booked when we arrived, bar person no idea where we sould park the car which is a major problem as you can only wait for two hours. Very exspensive ie £8 for a 250ml glass of Pinot which I think is ott. £5 for a bacon sarnie. All eating however was of a comparable price so take plent of money.
the staff were lovely and the room was beautiful. room 107 needs net curtains as it is overlooked by anyone sitting on the bench outside the church.
A very nice relaxed hotel with excellent parking facilities.
I have stayed in the hotel before. It is conveniently situated for my needs and I was not disappointed with the standard of service offered. Nothing
Very good location, the staff were very pleasant.
the atmosphere , the comfort , the cleanliness, just about everything , oh....and the beer! nothing.
The food was absolutely excellent. From breakfast to dinner, the food was very well cooked and very well prepared. The catering and waiting staff were all very well mannered especially at dinner. The room was a bit shabby with wallpaper being stuck back on the wall, paint flaking on the ceiling and in the bath! I was a bit disappointed with that but overall I enjoyed my stay.
decent size lounge for residents ( avoiding the rain Rooms at the front of the hotel adjacent to the road were noisy
The room was very good and clean. The food was good. And the staff friendly and helpful.
central to New Forest area. constant traffic outside our room
I worked at the Crown as a receptionist 28 years ago and met my husband their on a cricket tour and it was good to see it had not changed hardly at all.
Staff were very friendly Towels were too small and mattresses too thin
Value for money welcoming stay close to amenities None
All the staff are very accommodating and always happy to help. The beds are the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in, they consist of a piece of wood/MDF on supports with a mattress on top, rock hard..
hotel was ideal for our stay there for the cruise..rooms were basic and affordable..very friendly staff......
Comfortable, good tv, convenient location Small room, poor sound insulation, hairdryer amnd extra pillows only available on request.
Staff very helpful and polite when asked for help. Limited choice of meals.
Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Cost was brilliant really good value for money. Very few T.v channels, parking is additional cost and ticket did not work properly.
This hotel experience was very poor. Nothing was to put into this box Hotel staff were ineficient, poor attention to clients. Both check in & check out were incorrectly handled.Breakfast food was poor & the service very poor.
Value for money Adjoining door meant that the drunk males next door were very audible early into the morning
hotel is close to all amenities and also the docks for cruise ships also right next to the train station no complaints
beautiful grounds and amazing rooms and bath. very luxurious and accordingly high priced. we were upgraded to a very large suite and it was the largest hotel room (and bath) I ever seen.
Attentive staff, nice welcome, excellent organisation of a wedding reception, good food, lovely large quiet room (Poplar), lovely common rooms and magnificent view. Lighting in room (Poplar) not well planned. Alcoholic drinks expensive.
a wounderful place to stay 'excellent
Ideal upmarket setting to do business Some relatively old style rooms
Setting was lovely. Room was a good size. Staff were very efficient Given the hotel layout, I would have expected more advance special needs information
Locaton, service, wine and great room service menu. That we only got to stay for one night and hadn't booked to stay longer!
I thought the whole hotel was fabulous and the room that I stayed in was top class and very luxurious.
Pleased that they had a separate room for diners in couples, and another for larger - and noisier - parties on a Saturday evening noit long before Christmas. Great bathrooms, lovely sitting room, pleasant bar
Staff were very attentive but not overbearing. Beautiful room.
beautiful grounds. Roaring log fire in reception. We felt the evening meal was over priced.
The staff were very friendly. Breakfast room back back up and running.
Available and reasonably conveniently sited for the airport You can't open the window at all without letting in the rain - and I was too hot
Ease of transport. Wonderful services and staff.
The hotel is in need of a refurbishment, and the receptionist was didn't bother to say goodbye upon my departure, merely taking the card out of my hand without saying anything or even looking at me. The heating didn't work in my first room, and the manager refused to give me a refund. There are also signs on the tap water warning that you cannot drink it- so take your own water. Other guests were also very noisy at night time, and I overheard one mention that he was almost arrested the previous night for running naked through Southampton. I would suggest that this hotel is more suited to that demographic.
Overall the hotel was very good with excellent service. Good value. The shower was a little cramped and stairs would be difficult for older people
breakfast was excellent our room was on the end of the corridor, it was very cold, we had to ask for a portable heater.
Bathroom window very high had to climb on basin to open and close. Extractor fan didnt work. Cold water tap labled not drinking. Suggest you remove cold water tank and have just mains water.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was first class. n/a
Near city; warm in room; excellent breakfast; friendly staff Bathroom was cold - valve on radiator did not work; Hot water-only warm.
location, friendly staff and excellent service No lift
It was very comfortable and friendly. Convenient to my personal needs visiting relations at the University, and offered 10% discount in a couple of nearby eateries. Easy to find and plenty of shops and bars nearby. The breakfast was a self service buffet and more than adequate. However, for the amount of staff that were around during the breakfast service I did feel that they could have been a little more forthcoming.
Friendly checkin How can i comment if i do not use this space for complaints? I do not like your questionairre and am abandoning it.
food very good.staff very helpful.most important of all two minutes from all the shops.all happy. no.
Staff were friendly, location was excellent, breakfast was great!
The friendliness and helpflness of the staff - they volunteered information without even being asked, about where to go etc. N/A
It was convenient for attending a concert at the Guild Hall. Car parking! You should not have to pay to park at the hotel. Arrangements should be made for customers to stay free of charge.
pleasant and helpful staff and very clean with cheery decor! loved the extra snuggly blanket and pillows provided in the room, plus had lots of toiletries which was very helpful for those of us that do not want to check bags on the plane. :) the showerhead pressure was non-existent and light came through the curtains making it a little difficult for sleep but still generally good! kind of wish they did room service though!
To be honest, not very much.
Breakfast should of been included for the price of the room
Modern, clean and good value for money. Not really - rooms were simple but fine for what was needed and paid for.
Staff very helpful on my brief stay Bed mattress and pillows a little lumpy
Within a one hour drive of Southampton. Parking available in front if you can squeeze your car in (we did successfully). Several restaurants are a short walk away. The room and the bathroom were comfortable and functional. The breakfast cost extra but was worth the money. Not the best English breakfast, but it wasn't bad either. Internet was solid. Watch for the cattle grates leading out of the property that keep the loose donkeys away. They have signs posted, but they are not where they should be to alert those on foot. The ceilings are low in entry ways; those 5'10 and above should duck everywhere (except in the room).
central, good parking, plenty of local information maps etc.available, very helpful & courteous staff, extensive choice for breakfast.
Having attended a wedding at Rhinefield Hotel your B/B was close to the location. Staff were excellent and the breakfast was superb Nothing not to like, but just one thing a light above the mirror in the bedroom area would improve the lighting
The staff were very welcoming and the hotel was charming. Breakfast was fantastic. I loved all of it.
Welcoming, convenient and comfortable. Our room needed an extra easy chair.
Extremely personal service - welcome with tea/coffee and home made cake (free throughout the stay whenever needed). Good information and reviews about where to eat, also walks/maps for exploring. Breakfast was locally sourced as far as possible and fairtrade if not, plus in the 'snug' local beverages available. Free posh toiletries and cotton buds/cotton wool balls/tissures in room.
We liked the warm welcome, very trusting with ongoing friendly and helpful hospitality. The room was excellent with everything provided that you would expect and more including our loverly little plot of garden we got with it. Staff where full of useful and historic information about The New Forest and you can tell they work really hard to provide the most local of produce, N/A
Very warm welcome, superb breakfast menu. spotless accomodation, very well managed no
From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a smiling face and a pot of tea and coffee along with slices of cake. We were more than happy with the accommodation and would recommend it to our friends and family. Hope to make a return visit later in the year.
It was in bad shape, carpets dirty and in need of decorating
It's easy city location was perfect for the intended weekend's activities. The refurbishment complimented made a ambience of culture in a city that has been revitalised by inner investment
Free Parking Cost of Food & Drink
Access when returning late at night was poor with no onbgious way in - no sign on night bell. Noisy night club within building although not audible from our room. Room decor was poor and somewhat spartan.
This hotel is excellently situated if you are going on a cruise and want to be relatively near the docks. West Quay shopping centre two minutes walk away. Hotel also has own large car park. Food and service in hotel restaurant is very good. Would definitely stay there again. Bathroom lighting very dim.
We thought the restaurant attractive with the most delicious selection of food. The wine offer was very reasonable
Friendly and helpful staff on check in. Really excellent room, clean, warm and nicely decorated. Nothing, although we didn't eat there so can't comment on that.
Interesting decor good central location Poor bathroom plumbing and type of shower fitments, try Mira
The history and the information about the hotel. The connection to Jane Austen. The mix of old and modern and accessability to the ferry to the Isle of Wight being just a walk away, which suited our needs because of time limitations. It could improve by modernisation but must retain its original identity.
Position was very good and we checked in early with no problems
Staff made the stay a pleasure, the hotel itself was comfortable. I was unaware from the website that the part we were staying in was an addition to the original building, which was not as nice.
Free Wifi connection
Hotel well situated for Salisbury shops and cathedral, just a 10-15 minute walk by the river. The staff were friendly and the evening meal good value. The breakfast was ok but not the best full English I've ever had. This didn't spoil my stay though and I'd recommend Milford Hall Hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Very pleasant hotel and, at the discounted price on a winter Friday night of £65 B&B for two, very good value. At the rack rate of £125 it would be a bit steep. Excellent breakfast. Handy for bus stops to and from the centre of the city No criticisms whatsoever.
Good Parking Room decoration had an Egyptian them, wall paper/pictures that I found was not very relaxing to look at Seemed very expensive for the level of facilities to me
Good value, convenient for cathederal and city centre, nice large rooms, friendly staff A bit souless/corporate
My room was large, modern and had a v. Big bath/shower which is great for Uk standards. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was enough till dinner for me!
Looking to relocate
A very comfortable hotel with easy access, convieniently located in the centre of Salisbury, helpful and friendly staff, and good food, excellent!
