Flights to Ecuador have now resumed.
From December 22, all travelers arriving from the UK, Australia, South Africa and the EU are required to take an antigen test (rapid test) on arrival at the airport.
Travelers must present a completed Health Declaration Form and a completed Immigration form as well as a negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19 issued within 10 days before arrival. Travelers who are unable to provide a PCR test will be tested at the airport at their own expense.
Special 'travel corridors' exist for tourists visiting the Galapagos. Foreigners wishing to enter the islands must present a negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19, taken 96 hours prior to the date of departure to Ecuador. On arrival in Ecuador, tourists may be requested to take another PCR test, at their own expense. Tourists must also present a return flight and a safe passage document (‘salvoconducto’) issued by the Ministry of Tourism to be exempt from doing 14 days of self-isolation on the islands. The tour operators or hotels are responsible for arranging this safe passage document on behalf of tourists, given that visitors are required to have previous contracted travel and accommodation arrangements. The Galapagos Transit Control Card, will need to be filled out online at least 24 hours before the flight. On arrival in Ecuador you will be required to fill in a Health Status Declaration, including a local address.
Arriving travelers may be subject to random rapid antigen testing conducted at the airport by the Ministry of Health, regardless of whether a negative COVID RT-PCR test is provided. If the rapid antigen test is positive, they must isolate for 10 days at one of the Ministry of Health's Centers for Temporary Attention in Quito or Guayaquil. As of January 11, it is no longer permissible to perform the isolation at a private residency or hotel.
Travelers from the UK, Australia, South Africa and the EU will have to carry out obligatory self-isolation for 5 days. Non-residents of Ecuador will have to self-isolate in hotels determined by the local authorities, at their own expense. Residents can isolate in their home.

Normal passports issued by Ecuador which have expired on March 16, 2020 or later, are considered valid until February 28, 2021. Passengers must have a "Passport validity extension certificate" and travel with the expired passport.

I asked flight attendant for help and she was rude. She talked to my husband who was further in the back and came back and told everyone it was ok for my kids to not be with their parents because my husband said it was ok. It was not ok, it was awful. After I started crying someone finally traded spots. But I didn't like that my husband's wishes over Road mine, it was misogynistic and she was a woman, a very condescending women."

Upon boarding there was plenty of room in the bins. The waiting at the end of each flight made the gateway crowded and replanting inefficient. Either have all bags checked upon check in with stricter guidelines or put overhead items into a lottery system."

Cons: "When returning from Houston to LA...i appreciated that the wheelchair service was ready when they arrived....what i didn't like was that as we entered the elevator one of the workers made a comment to his partner that there was to much weight cause the elevator made a certain noise...but not as if he was concerned more jokingly...my mother is heavy set ...she and our party thought that was rude and unnecessary...they both looked at her...i was going to bring it to there attention, but what good would of it done...so please address it....there were 2 gentlemen...one pushing my father which was a Hispanic male and the other was a black male pushing mother...the one who made the comment was the Hispanic male....and another problem was the airplane was very warm..."

Luckily we were able to get onto a different airline who helped us out. United dropped the ball big time."
Pros: "Everything was perfect - the pretzel packs looked like they were from 2007 and stale but I don't care about that. The pilots landing there and back were like we landed on clouds - not a single bump or jolt. The flights left on time and arrived early. The staff at gate and plane were so helpful and happy and knew how to do their jobs and not opposed to doing it with a smile. I have flown over the world and these two flights on united were the best."
