FAQs - booking Austria flights
Are there Austria travel restrictions currently due to Coronavirus?
Entry restrictions Austria has opened its borders to travelers arriving from the Schengen Area, or from Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and the Vatican. However, travel from outside of the EEA remains restricted for travelers who are not nationals of an EU/Schengen/ country, and flights remain suspended from certain areas. Austria has restricted all flights from Brazil, the UK and South Africa until March 7. Austrian nationals, permanent residents, D-visa holders, and EEA nationals and their immediate family members may still enter Austria. Diplomats, humanitarian aid workers, people traveling on business, healthcare professionals, and members of emergency/rescue/ambulance crews may also enter the country, and travelers with an immediate connecting flight may transit through the country.
Entry requirements Travelers must present a completed Pre-Travel-Clearance upon arrival. Travelers who arrive from or have been in the past 10 days in a country other than Australia, Finland, Greece, Iceland, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Singapore or Vatican City must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued within 72 hours prior to arrival or take a test within 24 hours after arrival.
Quarantine requirements Travelers are subject to a mandatory 10-day quarantine, but can take a PCR or antigen test, at their own expense, after 5 days after arrival to shorten the quarantine period. If the result is negative, they will no longer need to stay in quarantine.
Transiting rules Travelers transiting through Austria without medical certificate are permitted if they can show proof that they are just transiting.
There are currently 19,229 active cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in AT and 10,333 deaths as of May 7 2021
