Cons: Unfortunately, the plane was late, prompting me to miss my connecting flight. These things happen, I understand, but most upsetting was the fact that Qatar Airways provided very little information to those of us missing our flights. While on the plane, when those of us with short layovers mentioned that we may be late, we were told "you'll be fine - they hold the planes for a bit." When we deboarded the plane from New York, we ere wrangled into groups depending on our destinations. Many of us assumed that we were going to be taken to our next flights as we had been told they would be waiting for us. The airline rep in charge of my group refused to tell us any information, however, only admitting after we got confrontational with her that we had missed our flights. She then offered no information about what would happen to us, telling us we'd find out when we got to the rebooking counter. Very unprofessional. I was told that I would have to wait for another 24 hours for the next flight, necessitating that I would spend the night in Qatar. I was put up in a hotel that was decent, but again that offered very little in terms of customer service. We were given an $80 meal allowance, but despite me not using it, I was nickeled and dimed in other aspects to where I ended up paying $20 to help reschedule a flight that I had missed in my destination country. The whole ordeal was a nightmare and mostly due to poor communication and very cold, almost robotic interactions with the QA staff on the ground in Doha.

I had to ring the assistance bell any every 1-2 hours in order to stay hydrated the meals Consisted of a reheated TV dinner and 5 plastic wrapped versions of bread or processeed foods (bread sticks, cracked, cheese stick) normal you just overlook this stuff but when it's 18 hour flight you need actual food and water or else you'll risk dehydration.
Cons: There was a long bus journey at the airport in Dubai for a flight from Dubai to Lahore. All passengers including myself were very surprised. When the bus stopped neat the air craft for boading, ground staff were seen collecing heavy hand carry luggage from the passengers for putting them in a separate compartment for taking as a cargo, which caused another delay in boading. Old air craft on this route should be replanced. Before boading from Dubai to Lahore, I checked my flight status several times on flight information screen but my flight was not shown on it. Later, I checked on hand touch screen and came to know that gate was B2.

Cons: In Dubai, British Air won't allow you check in more than three hours prior to flight time. Since you can't check in, you can't go through security. Since you can't go through security, you can't get to the actual terminal (where all the stores, restaurants, lounges, etc are). Therefore, if you arrive at the airport too early. you're stuck in the outer holding area prior to the check in area. Nothing to do. Nowhere to go. Still weighted down with all your bags. A real bummer. Once you're allowed to check in, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the real terminal (check in, emigration, security, train ride, etc). The flight starts boarding one hour prior to departure. This leaves about 90 minutes to make it through the entire terminal and get to the gate. Any extra time can be spent looking at all the things you could have enjoyed if you could have checked in earlier. Since nobody including British Air told this in advance, we ended up twiddling our thumbs for eleven hours in the outer holding area.

I know everybody is doing it, but it's tacking on extras once the committment has been made and that is low. The boarding process in London was horrible. queuing up everybody then telling them the general boarding is "over there". The lines should be more well-defined and single file to avoid bunching up. There was plenty of room to form lines, but the stanchions were not in place. Poorly executed. Also, there are FAR too many priorty boarding classes. People had to jump lines and go around barrier tapes to get to their positions in line when their priority class was called. Once on board, the crew did a fine job, but the boarding area is completely screwed up.

Cons: We ran 2 hours and 10 min. over schedule getting from London to PHX. I can't understand why because pilot never said we were running late. When we landed we weren't told about the 2hr 10 min. time overage, but my sister said the plane reversed course around Iceland for a while, then turned around again and got back on track, but the PHX cell lot flight tracking board never said the flight was delayed or running late. She waited for me to get out of the airport an additional 3 hours. Luggage took a LONG time to get to the staging area and we had no clue what the problem was. It seems a simple task to put the PHX luggage in one area of cargo, and luggage going on to another destination in another area so 1st off clients could get their luggage and leave. There was a lot of luggage on the carousel that didn't get picked up. Very poor on the ground crew's part. When I have been in the air for 10 - 12 hours, I want to get my luggage and get home. Customs was a breeze compared to getting my luggage. BA lost my luggage at Heathrow on the way to Prague, and on the return had problems getting luggage to the passengers WAITING at the airport. You need to address how you handle customer luggage.
